Boy Hired Hit Man to Kill Parents for Playstation Punishment
timesonline.co.uk — Like many middle-class, suburban American parents, Shannan and Joey Troiano worried about their son ’s behaviour and his bad grades at high school. And like many wayward teenagers, Cory Ryder was grounded for weeks at a time, had a PlayStation confiscated and was banned from watching TV.

- KibibyteBrain, on 11/06/2007, -2/+45You may be onto something. Hitler was quite upset over getting banned from XBL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYvZnTFpip0

I didn't know GW Bush had a Wii.- Cyber_Akuma, on 11/06/2007, -0/+8Well, we know he has a DS and a copy of Brain Age, Nintendo mailed him a set a few months ago.
- Drahkar, on 11/07/2007, -3/+59This is plain stupid. Buried as inaccurate. The whole thing has nothing to do with a playstation. He was hiring a hitman because she kicked him out of the house.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 11/06/2007, -2/+16Still dosent change the fact how screwed up it is that a child is trying to call a hit on his PARENTS.
- vertinox, on 11/08/2007, -2/+4Quick question, if the kid is under 18 aren't the parents legally required to take care of him rather than disowning them? I'm sure the state would be happy to find legal guardians but his parents would legally responsible for his behavior.
Seriously... In all appearances his parents didn't give a ***** and probaly only had him because a condom broke and didn't want to deal with raising a child proprerly.- Drahkar, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3I agree completely that the parents play a big role in the problem here. My statement was just that people need to stop trying to blame video games and game systems for these things. I'm tired of Jack Thompson and the Jack Thompson wannabes. And when people blatantly fabricate reasons like the poster does then they are just helping to perpetuate a falsehood that just needs to go away.
- EvilFerret, on 11/07/2007, -2/+2Agreed. HIs parents don't seem to care much about him~ Kicking him out of the house when he's only 16? I'm pretty sure that's illegal, they should be getting charged for child endangerment. I also find it odd how his mom wanted to have him charged as an adult so he would be locked away even longer.
- vertinox, on 11/08/2007, -2/+4Quick question, if the kid is under 18 aren't the parents legally required to take care of him rather than disowning them? I'm sure the state would be happy to find legal guardians but his parents would legally responsible for his behavior.

- DangerMouse9, on 11/07/2007, -4/+75If you read the ***** article it said he was pissed that he was kicked out of the house for stealing $45 from his sister. It didn't really say anything about the playstation punishment. The ***** douche that wrote the title was just trying to get it dugg to the front page by assholes that can't read more than the headline.

- TitanX13, on 11/06/2007, -3/+4either way i was kicked out my parents house till 4am like a week ago, but i am no way in hell going to call a hitman on parents.

- TitanX13, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1no i was saying that being kicked out of the house is no cause to hire a hitman to kill your parents. also i dont live in my parents basement this california their are no basement. also its my first year in college so i am stay where its cheap

- sgtpppr, on 11/07/2007, -2/+11What have the 'people who water their lawn' or 'people who do crossword puzzles' communities done lately? I don't see how a hobby requires a community that does charity work.
- harrv, on 11/06/2007, -4/+3Well, people who water their lawn are increasing their property value and not dragging their neighbor's down.
- Harq, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1They are also usually wasting water since most of it probably runs off...
- bingobongony, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2And you don't see news progrmas talking about the good things that people watering their lawns do either. Seriously...do you know anything about CONTEXT? This thread is about media mentioning only the bad things. and sgtpppr correctly pointed out that ti is not like there are newsworthy stories about gamers doing great things. With this context in mind, your comment implies that you think that there are all sorts of news stories about lawn waterers.

- smek2, on 11/08/2007, -1/+1Positive things? Like what? Stop playing the "media is biased" card, that kid just tried to hire a HITMAN TO KILL HIS PARENTS because they confiscated his ***** Playstation. There's no better proof that excessive entertainment and limitless capitalism turning society into a pile of *****. Seriously, i hate guys like Jack Thompson like the next guy, and that kid here is (yet) an exception but please stop over-protecting your beloved videogames, fanboy. Playing, let's say FPS games hours on end DOES have effects on your brain, whether you like it or not.
- chocobomog, on 11/07/2007, -2/+365Title is a little misleading. He was mad about many things, the biggest being kicked out of his parents house after getting in a fight with his parents for dropping out of school. The Playstation was only mentioned once and was in a list of "typical" punishments the parents tried before kicking him out.

- linkthewarrior, on 11/07/2007, -0/+18The sad part about this is people looking to blame this violence over video games (Jack Thompson) see this as proof as to why video games are corrupting the youth. When in fact there are plenty of other signs as to why this had happened. Take his parents getting a divorce, a new step father. This kid obviously had other problems than his mother grounding him for a few weeks.
- dondara, on 11/06/2007, -1/+17Did they ever just sit down with the kid, turn off the tv, get off the phone and hit him?
- Mayhew, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1Yes, it's the divorce's fault. That's why 50% of all kids are hiring hitmen to kill their parents.
- BestJaxx, on 11/06/2007, -1/+3I doubt that the kid did all of this simply because of video games. He did several delinquent things before the PlayStation was taken away, and all of this is going to blamed on the video games. Wait . . . Damn. I'm to late. Someone else already typed it.
- mightyzug, on 11/06/2007, -4/+3who cares!?!? so it wasn't JUST coz of the playstation, so what?? there still wasn't one legit reason for doing what he did in his long list of stupid BS to whine about. he is still a pathetic whiny little bitch and that's all that matters. put this worthless little ***** to death.
- gerbco, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1How about talking to the kid about the hit??? I mean why would anyone put their kids away? Perhaps a mental institution would have been better.

- SwampFox012, on 11/06/2007, -2/+9Haven't heard too many stories about white ones either....
- Zeonix, on 11/06/2007, -3/+2I've seen white kids attempt to fight their parents, yell at their parents, curse at their parents, and generally act like little ***** without their parents taking a stand, or trying to be an authority figure. All they do is try to reason with the kid and hope the onslaught stops.
That's not how you raise a child.- Iconoclast25, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3"That's not how you raise a child."
ABSOLUTELY !!!
In my "Baby Boomer" generation, parents and teachers would apply corporal punishment when it was warranted and I've yet to meet someone who was "warped" by this. The touchy-feely "time-outs," etc., do NOTHING to modify behavior. This particular little bastid would have been straightened out when he was a LOT younger.
What we have now, by and large, are spineless hedonists producing even more hedonistic offspring who believe themselves "entitled" to all manner of goods and services. There is little or no personal responsibility, little or no work ethic . . . it is really frightening to contemplate where this country will be in another fifty years.

- jxfallout, on 11/06/2007, -1/+18Wait, so now something's wrong in that a mother is terrified of her kid after he attempted to have her killed? What would you do if your child was caught in the act of hiring someone to kill you?
- toast1226, on 11/06/2007, -1/+16I had a situation with my sister where she got into a huge rage and was pounding on my door with a knife and sliding the knife under it. At the time I was terrified and thought she was trying to kill me so I called the cops and they arrested her -- for a long time I didn't even want to see her or vice versa. But when I had to give my statement to my attorney about what I thought of the situation I told them I didn't want her to get a felony record from the incident. I didn't want it to happen again but I felt her life would be ruined if she had the maximum punishment.
From my experience, I can easily understand why the mother would want him sentenced for a long time.

- Shrubber, on 11/06/2007, -3/+29Wait...did the kid just start hunting around and looking for a hitman, and THEN the police arranged a sting operation? Because it sounds to me like the police almost baited him into this. He knew full well what he was doing, but it does sound to me like they might have prodded him a little to much. For that reason, I think they should charge him as a juvenile. Five years is enough time to smack some sense into him if they get him the right help.
- Frei, on 11/06/2007, -0/+20I agree that it doesn't seem to add up. The kid and parent don't get along and fight, got it. But then the mother and a neighbor call the police, bring the kid to a hotel and ask him if he'd (a 16 year old) would like to HIRE a hitman. I hope I'm missing something here. Would this kid have gone this far without those two pushing him into the hotel room.
- dezman2003, on 11/08/2007, -2/+6The point is he did go that far, its unacceptable regardless of the circumstances.
- Syntaxis, on 11/08/2007, -3/+4No, the circumstances were simulated so that he was forced to make a decision he wouldn't have made otherwise. Tell me, faced with a hitman asking you if you want to hire him - while he gently strokes his revolver - would you say "sure" or "hell no"? I'd go with "sure" and later on turn the bastard in.
Entrapment is wrong.- dezman2003, on 11/08/2007, -2/+2I wouldn't have went to meet the hitman in the first place. It really shows the kind of person you are, you'd be willing to endanger someone elses life (what happens if the hitman gets to the target before the cops get to him?) because you made a rash decision and now you're a chicken ***** who can't say no to the scary man.
- Syntaxis, on 11/08/2007, -3/+4No, the circumstances were simulated so that he was forced to make a decision he wouldn't have made otherwise. - vulapine, on 11/09/2007, -4/+5Wow! You got all that from the story?
I must have missed something, because the story never said anything about "the mother and a neighbor call the police". It never says that the friend's mom did any more than take him to the hotel. It doesn't say how the pretend hitman was contacted initially at all.
It's quite possible that "the kid" made contact first and the parents were told about it.
But we can ride the supposition train all night and get nowhere.- LoungeActx, on 11/06/2007, -3/+1The article did say that the kid "Felt pressured, and even contemplated calling the police while in the hotel room."
- vulapine, on 11/06/2007, -2/+4Actually the article said that that's what the kid said. And if you can't trust a vandal and thief with no respect for authority to tell the truth when he's facing potentially serious punishment, who can you trust?
- scrimaxinc, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Ummm did you not get the part of my comment that said...
"I was trying to figure out how it could have gone down too. The only scenario I can think of is..."
Did I claim anything as fact? I was simply trying to come up with a scenario that made a little sense. Ass.
- LoungeActx, on 11/06/2007, -3/+1The article did say that the kid "Felt pressured, and even contemplated calling the police while in the hotel room."
- scrimaxinc, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6I was trying to figure out how it could have gone down too. The only scenario I can think of is that he brought it up with his friends mother (the one he "trusted"), who then told his mom what her son was saying. The kid's mom wanted to find out whether he was being serious about it or not, so the two mom's brought in the police and set up a "test". She was probably hoping that her son would pass the test, and that he was just all talk (which could be fixed with a little counseling).
- Frei, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1That sounds more liekly than the other guys ideas about the 16 year old with the hitman contacts.
- dezman2003, on 11/08/2007, -2/+6The point is he did go that far, its unacceptable regardless of the circumstances.
- zachshmack, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Maybe Joey is short for Jocasta?
- vulapine, on 11/05/2007, -1/+3"Five years is enough time to smack some sense into him if they get him the right help."
If 16 years wasn't long enough, five will be much better. No, but I know what you mean. He does need some counseling for sure. A very angry young man that is probably angry that he didn't have a dad.
- footfwd, on 11/07/2007, -1/+95Damn, with a name like Joey Troiano your bound to have someone hire a hit man on you some day...
- toxicshok, on 11/06/2007, -0/+12Joey "the clown" Troiano
- falkonv7l, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4Joey "the KIDD" Troiano
- bobblekabobble, on 11/06/2007, -3/+0isn't that racist?
- whatthefu, on 11/07/2007, -6/+32He should've gotten Agent 47 to help him out.
- DangerMouse9, on 11/06/2007, -19/+2And Mighty Mouse should have swallowed your father's testicles when he was 8.
Your joke is about as funny as a burn ward.- sgtpppr, on 11/06/2007, -0/+13And your reply is even worse.
- TripcodeMel, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1I don't think the 45 bucks he stole from the piggy bank would cover 47's fee.
- TheFraction, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2He's busy with his movie.
- DangerMouse9, on 11/06/2007, -19/+2And Mighty Mouse should have swallowed your father's testicles when he was 8.
- blackmage439, on 11/08/2007, -7/+32That is one sick and disturbed person. Kudos for the mom for finally getting her head out of her ass and turning the kid in to the proper authorities.
- ptxyz, on 11/08/2007, -9/+6"Kudos to the mom"? "Mom" should be sharing a cell with the son for raising him the way she did.
- vulapine, on 11/06/2007, -1/+9No doubt. It seems that she has been waiting for "the system" to fix the him.
- vertinox, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4I agree with ptxyz, people don't just up and decide its ok to murder people unless they are a certified sociopath or haven't already learned some life leasons about the value of life. The mother kicked her son out without trying to deal with a situation she had 18 years to deal with. Now she's going to throw her failure into the hands of the state and cost society god knows how much money to keep her son in jail.
This is why some people should not have kids. Don't want to raise a kid properly? Fine! Don't have one. No one is forcing you to be a parent... Much less a bad one who is going to burden everyone else. - Herostratos, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1She ought to have been the proper authority. Since she wasn't, I really must assume she fails at being a mother.
- ptxyz, on 11/08/2007, -9/+6"Kudos to the mom"? "Mom" should be sharing a cell with the son for raising him the way she did.
- badassninja, on 11/07/2007, -0/+70The playstation had nothing to do with this. Any kid that would hire a hit man is too ***** up. And you have to at lest some what blame mom and dad for doing a piss poor job of raising him.
- DangerMouse9, on 11/06/2007, -4/+2It was a single parent home. Let's see you raise a kid alone on your income and do a good job raising it. It's not easy, especially if you have no one to turn to for help.
- vulapine, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5That's not a very good excuse, but I guess when you make bad choices, bad excuses are all you have to fall back on.
- mightyzug, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5boo. *****. hoo. dangermouse being a single parent home is no excuse for not doing a good job raising kids. you're a stupid ***** you know that? i don't give a ***** if it's fair or if they have anyone to help them out... even doing a piss poor job of parenting one can raise ***** up little kids that would never attempt to kill you. the parenting in any case like this is far worse than piss poor because it simply is not happening at all.
- Promantarius, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1While that's the initial reaction, does anyone actually know what causes a child to become a sociopath? If the child was unhinged, it is entirely possible that outside influences could have caused it and he could've been acting around his parents. Perhaps it wasn't so in this case, but it's still possible and you shouldn't condemn every parent that raises a murderer without having evidence that it was directly their fault (aside from the fact it's their kid).
- imitokay, on 11/08/2007, -1/+0Since I was raised more or less by a single parent I have to agree based on my experiences. Its NOT at all easy trying to raise a kid (2 in my mother's case) while putting a nice roof over there head, giving them a good education, and feeding them. I remember she was ALWAYS stressed out, I have a great deal of sympathy for parents put in this position.
Mightyzug must have miss something in psych 101, because like prom mentioned, its not always parenting that causes people to go off the deep end. ... or maybe he/she is just ignorant and wants to sound like gods gift to the world.
- vulapine, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3Maybe he played Hitman and that's where he got the idea?
- drizzlelicious, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1Blame it on Halo 3.
- DavidGX, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Actually the playstation had EVERYTHING to do with it. Now, if it had been a Wii or an Xbox 360 he would have been busy playing games instead of plotting to have his mom murdered. PS3, it could kill you.
- DangerMouse9, on 11/06/2007, -4/+2It was a single parent home. Let's see you raise a kid alone on your income and do a good job raising it. It's not easy, especially if you have no one to turn to for help.

- TheRemoteViewer, on 11/07/2007, -18/+14His mom is 35, and he's...16? Maybe if she had waited to have kids like a normal person instead of trying to raise a kid while still maturing herself this might not have happened.

- TheRemoteViewer, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8YES. A 19 year old is still learning how to live without mommy and daddy. Think about how your average 19 year old acts at college.

- confusednazgul, on 11/06/2007, -3/+3It's not like she had him at 12. Nineteen is a relatively normal age to start having children, and I seriously doubt it had anything at all to do with how he turned out. There are plenty of psychopaths born to older parents.
- vertinox, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Normal only because contraception hasn't been used. How are you going to go to college and have kids? It can be done but its tough. If you really want to be a good parent, wait until you graduated and/or have a good job to support them. Otherwise you are just preptuating the cycle.
- Midvicious, on 11/06/2007, -4/+319 is a normal age if you're working on a farm in Belgium or if you're wealthy in America. That's about it.
- Khendroc, on 11/06/2007, -2/+0ROFL yeah only the wealthy have kids THAT early here in the states.
So, ever been to the big city, farm boy? - Midvicious, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2You misheard me. It's normal meaning you can get along without problems having a child at that age. And I'm a New Yorker, by the way, so go ***** yourself.
- Khendroc, on 11/06/2007, -2/+0ROFL yeah only the wealthy have kids THAT early here in the states.
- mightyzug, on 11/06/2007, -5/+519 is not normal for anyone to have kids. you're a stupid ***** at age 19, i don't care who you are, you don't deserve the right to have a child at that age.
- slingr, on 11/06/2007, -5/+0reading your comments, I would say that you have down syndrome, but people with down syndrome have more sense and logic than you. This kid should have hired a hitman to kill you.
- atlantocide, on 11/06/2007, -2/+1Riiight, she should have had an abortion. That would have fixed everything!
/sarcasm- JudgeMonkey, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Sarcasm? It seems to me like stabbing his little developing heart with a coat hanger WOULD have solved all of this... wouldn't it?

- Syntaxis, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4He offered a car. Obviously, every hitman needs a car or wants to sell a stolen car. That's what they typically do, besides killing people and escaping justice, of course.
The kid should've just moved out and go live on his own or something. But of course the no-good pansy went out to a hotel with someone else's mom to get trapped. Ah well. At least he'll learn the proper way to kill someone in the penal system.
/sarcasm (Meaning: jailtime isn't necessarily a good thing here..)
- fdw2006, on 11/08/2007, -7/+9His allowance is either WAY too high or he his one hell of a bargain shopper.
- RobLiefeld, on 11/06/2007, -36/+2This is another reason why videogames should be banned. This is why our country is falling so far behind. Our kids today are becoming more violent and unproductive with their time. They should at the very least be reading a comic book or something else than spending time with machines that promote violence and isolation. It sickens me to hear stories like this. 'Nuff said

- john2kx, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6ohhh, so our country is falling behind NOT because our government prioritizes the military-industrial complex over our education system, but because of violent videogames!! Of course!!
- sonaboy, on 11/06/2007, -0/+9You're gonna regret you said that. It'd be a shame if you got hurt or sumthin. You got a nice comment box here. It'd be a shame if somethin happened to it. Know what I mean?
- SquigglyP, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5plugging comics as an alternative so people will go out and buy your sub-par comics Mr. Liefeld? Learn to draw.
- positron, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Go take an anatomy class and learn proper perspective as well.
- RobLiefeld, on 11/06/2007, -7/+0Anyone here ever heard of stylization? No? All my figures are stylized ideal forms - they are not met to be realistic. Any artist can make photo realistic figures, but that would be boring and not very creative. I'm not plugging my many comics, I was just using as an example. Anyways, for the amount of critics I've had in the past,I must have some fans because my bank account says otherwise. If you can't say anything constructive, you should keep it to yourselves. It's getting old. Really.
- Webler707, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4This coming from the guy that purposely attacked the video gamers(a group of people)? That didn't seem constructive to me. So why didn't you keep that to yourself? Hypocrite.
- heinousjay, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4And yet you have nothing constructive to say... interesting.
- SquigglyP, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Stylization is one thing, but even a stylized ideal figure shouldn't have 3,000 teeth. You have muscle groups where they don't exist, you have people's spines curving at occasionally alarming angles, faces that are not angled in the same direction as the head, and various other flaws. You use the same basic poses in just about every panel, as well as facial expressions. You retired for some time - close to a decade wasn't it? - and then you came back, and your art had not improved in the slightest. I just find it odd how it is that you DO earn so much money when you can't write and can't draw. I guess it just goes to show how utterly valueless the superhero comics market is. The people buying those things are all nearly brain dead. I wouldn't be so critical if you showed a certain degree of improvement over time, or were able to take the criticism you get and work to improve, but you always throw out the "stylization" BS instead of maybe doing some studies and trying to improve yourself. You're like the Uwe Boll of comics.
- petebert, on 11/09/2007, -2/+125where does a 16 year old find a hitman? I'm 29 and I'm not sure where to find one at.

- Typhoon2009, on 11/06/2007, -3/+4I prefer mailing the mayor, chief of police, or FBI impersonating the person. Use all-caps and poor spelling like the UNABOMBER and say ***** like "FORE GROSS VIOLATIN OF THE CONSTITUSHUN, I DEMAND FULL CLENMENNCYY FORE MY CRIMES AND FORE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLARS. IF YOU DO NOT MEET MY DEMANDS, PEPOEL WILL BEGIN TOO DIE. THIS IS NOTT A JOKE.. YOO CAN CONTAT ME AT THIS ADDRES - INSERT NAME HERE" Be creative about it, and read some of the UNABOMBER, Manson, and McVeigh's twisted *****. That will undoubtedly get your worst enemy at the very least under the eye of the government.
- vulapine, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4You have the FBI confused with the CIA.
- vertinox, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4The only difference between the FBI and CIA, is that the FBI has to get a rubber stamp warrant to put the glow stick in your ass.

- FLLawLibrarian, on 11/06/2007, -1/+7What in the world do video games have to do with this? Its clear the kid is just a nutcase. I hardly think video games would change this child in one way or the other. Maybe instead of blaming the video games we should be shaking our fists at the parents, who clearly are not doing a good job of raising their son.
- SirTheGuy, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3I bet Jack Thompson comes in blaming games and saying that they're the cause of this, not the fact the kid is screwed up...
- Lasereth, on 11/07/2007, -0/+67Buried as inaccurate -- the playstation had nothing to do with the hiring of the hitman, sensationalism 1000x
- amgamer23, on 11/06/2007, -1/+8It is clear that Jack Thompson posted this story.
- TrojanGuy, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2As others have pointed out, the hiring of the hitman wasn't strictly because of them taking away his Playstation so the title of this article is a little misleading. Also, reading through the story it's obvious this kid has some major emotional/chemical problems that don't have anything to do with video games.

- flip, on 11/06/2007, -6/+19No matter what type of sugar coating they try to put on this.
THE PARENTS (MOTHER) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS KIDS BEHAVIOR.
After reading this article there's all kinds of information pointing to her being an ill equipped and poor parent
Her child's behavior is nothing more than the result of her past interactions with him.
The heavy handed advise from law enforcement and her decision to go along with it
- just is the icing on the cake that will leave this kid with a dead end for the rest of his life.
in my opinion, the mother should have already served some time for mental and physical abuse on your young(er) son.- dondara, on 11/06/2007, -5/+7No bad dogs, just bad owners. That applies to kids as well.
- heinousjay, on 11/06/2007, -1/+3Utter *****. In both cases. Children and dogs are independent entities, and things do go wrong, sometimes on a physical level. Your aphorism is too trite and general to cover reality.
- Touchy610, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1If something's wrong with the bitch, something's going to be wrong with the pup. :-)
- FreddieD, on 11/06/2007, -2/+7The article says that she left the father shortly after having the child. I'm sure the lack of a father figure played some role and I'm sure she made her fair share of mistakes, but are you REALLY saying it is the mother's fault that the kid tried to hire a hit man???
- TheAbsintheHare, on 11/06/2007, -2/+3Yes. The child wasn't born wanting to kill his Mother... Obviously she did something to warrant him wanting to.
- mightyzug, on 11/13/2007, -3/+4booo hoo he didn't have a father figure, that makes him totally justified now doesn't it??? freddie you are a ***** moron. go kill yourself.
- donkevin, on 11/06/2007, -2/+8Honestly, this doesn't sound like the mother's fault at all. I really hope you guys are being sarcastic. The mother has tried various punishments of increasing severity to get her son to behave, and he just wasn't. The same thing happened to my brother. He went to a group home, got his GED, spent some time in jail, and now he's starting to get his life back on track. I think when this kid gets out he should seek therapy, or possibly while he's in the system. It's unfortunate that good parenting couldn't have done better, but he has some emotional and chemical problems that also need to be looked at.
Now, it's possible that it was bad parenting, I'm not ruling that out, but my parents definitely raised my brother and I right, he agrees to this, and he turned out to have some problems that he's still working on fixing. - Syntaxis, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3As if all children are born the same and their parents are the sole people responsible for their behaviour.
What about bad friends at school? What about secret abuse by teachers or preachers? What about just being a sociopath from the get-go? How about someone else betraying you? How about a father-figure never being in your life, and not accepting your stepfather? All those are the mother's fault?
If only it was that easy...- TheAbsintheHare, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1Typically the hatred for typically comes from that person doing something to the child.
He didn't want his teacher or preacher or stepfather dead... he wanted his mom dead.

- dondara, on 11/06/2007, -5/+7No bad dogs, just bad owners. That applies to kids as well.
- Nekiruhs, on 11/06/2007, -7/+2That kid is sick! No game console in the world is worth killing your parents over. Disgusting.
- yaryarhumphump, on 11/06/2007, -1/+5not the console moron can you read + comprehend
- donkevin, on 11/06/2007, -2/+2Yes, please l2RTFA.
- lowerlogic, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1plz lrn 2 sp3k eng1sh
- Gillt, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4over reactive kid,
- Typhoon2009, on 11/06/2007, -2/+5What's with kids snapping so much these days? First there's the boy who kills himself cause he can't play games, then the kid who hits his mom because he can't play Halo, and now this guy. I despise the restrictions my parents put on my gaming (none of it during the weekdays, I'm almost a senior too dammit) but ***** it, I still kill time listening to music and using Digg :)
- yaryarhumphump, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Again nothing to do with games.....
- Typhoon2009, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1I'm not saying games influence the kids to do what they do, but the punishment that the parents give just happen to involve games or gaming.
- mightyzug, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1no, it's the whiny little piece of ***** that can't cope with not getting EXACTLY what they want for every minute of every day. kid's that act out severely when the game gets taken away should NEVER get that ***** back.
- tektalk, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1dude, you got it way easier, I can only play one hour PER week (and only in the weekends) . At least you get more freedom for the weekends. :(
- yaryarhumphump, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Again nothing to do with games.....
- wily6, on 11/06/2007, -2/+2whatever happened to kids just being plain CRAZY?!
- jasonh1234, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1I blame bad parenting. Oh wait... nm.
- BlackJackJester, on 11/06/2007, -0/+19I think, if I was a real hitman called by a 16 year old to rub out his parents, i'd have to sit down with him and have a little heart to heart.
- kds405, on 11/07/2007, -2/+20Hit men have no hearts. That's why they are hit men and not guidance counselors.
- gasin, on 11/06/2007, -4/+1yeah they do.... You need to read some of the hitman comics!

- Bossakungen, on 11/06/2007, -6/+1Ouch, well that is going a bit into the extremes I think. http://www.mrimc.com/line-of-credit-rates.html
- masterm1nd, on 11/06/2007, -4/+2This is funnier than it is sad.
- mojonandha, on 11/06/2007, -5/+3when i was 16 i woudnt talk back when my parents yell at me for something i did wrong. My dad would kick my ass often for scoring bad grades. It hurts , yes it really hurts. My parents once heated up a spoon and just placed it on my thigh for 10 seconds. I used to have that scar until i was 20 and it yes it really hurts. Even after all this i never ever thought that what my parents did was wrong eventhough sometimes it was extreme. I was a very bad kid growing up.
- Ravie, on 11/06/2007, -2/+5Now see, that would have been a legitimate reason for hiring a hitman to kill your parents.
- Jedwards32, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3man a heated spoon, that sucks, that makes my switching seem like a nun slap...
- Syntaxis, on 11/06/2007, -2/+4Wow. The worst I had to face was a slap on the ass, no dinner and no tv for the night. Worst case scenario: I'd miss out my favourite tv-show. Best case scenario: I was expecting it and padded my pants and setup the tape recorder. Of course all that changed when I turned 3 and went out living on my own. The freedom really is bliss!
- TypeEE, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6dude, even US military won't torture our terrorists like that, at least that's what Rice claimed.
- ltchimpo, on 11/06/2007, -2/+1Man, living with my parents was torture. They would make the joke that they didn't offer me room and board, but rather a room for waterboarding! (did you see what I did there?)
- evildeadguy, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1*crickets*
- Maciula, on 11/06/2007, -2/+5Looks like the only game system the kid will be playing for the next few years is Ass to Mouth. Don't drop the soap!
- donkevin, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1LOL
- evildeadguy, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1haha. well done, sir.
- Typhoon2009, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1And to actually add to this discussion: Should he serve time? Maybe. If anything he should be thrown in the madhouse and get some professional help, not get thrown in the clink. The first description of him just makes him sound like a bad seed (dropping out of school, etc) who needed to be smacked into place. But planning a hit on your parents? I'm no psychiatrist but that sure as heck sounds like a serious mental issue to me.
- daizaru, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4Something is weird with the whole Hitman thing, mainly the way he found one. It's not like he was actively searching for one. They took him to one, they baited him somehow. If they knew he was doing this they should have gotten him help, not arrested. Juvy won't fix this kid, in all likelyhood it will make him a better criminal... help him figure out how to really contact a REAL hitman.
The kids messed up, but playstation wasn't the cause. I don't think the punishment is going to make him better. -
