- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50Starcraft MMO = No. i want my RTS damnit!
Diablo MMO= Sure, why not? - Cozmcphish, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34Maybe they're just tired of making so much bank.
If that's the case, maybe they should collaborate with Sony on their next project. - megabytehl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Orcs in SPAAAACCCEEEEEE

- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Is it to much to ask for both a RTS and an MMO at the same time. I cannot get enough of starcraft.
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"I've always wanted to see an MMORTS. Your empire stays up and self-sustaining when you're not playing the game. If somebody attacks you, you get an email or SMS notification telling you to hurry up and get in the game or the computer will play for you."
Like a virtual pet that has your phone number? No thanks. - boituma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Coming to your quantum PC in year 2033!
- jake8689, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14yeah you think one of the best RTS of all time would have a new one by now goddamit
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13It's called Ultima Online, and it was the first MMORPG.
- hockey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Duke Nukem Forever online.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I can see it now ,
The Lost Vikings - MMO , they just throw away all the races but dwarves and add horns to the helmets.... of course it wont be ready until 2022 anyway..... - E55P3A, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Are you kidding? Sure its nothing ground breaking but the world actually feels lived in. Plus it can run on the ***** PC's and still look great.
- MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11More than likely, their next MMO will either be a new IP, or Diablo. The story and setting of StarCraft wouldn't lend itself to an MMORPG so easily. Then again, I thought the same about WarCraft.
I will be extremely annoyed if they make a StarCraft MMO. I've been waiting for the next StarCraft RTS, and if it turned out to be an MMO...I'd be disappointed. I don't think I would like a Diablo MMO, either. Personally, I liked the way Diablo II was set up. Yes, I dislike MMORPGs. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12World of Starcraft Ghost
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I would love a Starcraft MMO or a Stacraft MMORTS, but a Diablo MMO would be terrible. Hey guys, it's just like WoW with swords and socery, but a little more realistic and dealing a huge amount of Christian legend and history. Fun!
Starcraft, on the other hand, is perfect for an MMO. Perfect world IMO. - zombiedepot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10No more MMOs. I found collecting gnoll armbands at $15 a month was boring enough for me. What's next? Collecting Zerg teeth? Great, a Warcraft film... I'd say Blizzard needs to go back to making killer SP games and stop milking the wallets of the kids who play WoW.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13
GTA + WoW + SimCity + Crysis = Hurry up already! - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Like we need another MMO. No thanks. Work on normal versions of both StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3. Please and thanks.
- bluesdealer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14"Hopefully it's not half as boring as the WoW grindathon. When you log in, you can actually smell the nerd drama."
Dude, that's just MMOs. Plus, no one makes you go around grinding. WoW is one of the few MMORPGs that allows casual gamers a place in the world. If you want to be decked out in epics, that's one thing, but it's not required to enjoy the game.
Wow was an evolution in MMOs, not a revolution. That said, I think it's an excellent game on par Blizzard's top notch quality standards. Not bad for an old RTS company. Now that they've not only wet their feet, but plunged into the genre head first, it's great that they have their sites set on bigger and better things. - cosmicdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think World of Starcraft would make for an interesting MMO. You can roll it out the Star Wars way (ground game first, then ground and space) without the unreasonable expectations. Space could be much more restricted as it isn't featured much in the RTS game. Travel between planets would supply the game with a greater mechanism for expansion than "dark portals", much like the RTS benefited from the same kind of diversity.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Diablo MMORPG = Guild Wars.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8God I hope so. Sorry folks, I know it's worshiped in these parts, but WoW just seemed boring to me. I mean, great, an adventure game that I have to pay $15/month to keep playing. Wheee.
And yes, I did actually play it. I could really use the $60 I put into that right now, too. - dgaspard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Is 10 years long enough? They might only get out one game in 10 years time if were lucky. This is Blizzard we're talking about.
- Wonotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I doubt it'll be a diablo MMO, its too similar to the WoW universe. "Spells and Zombies and Skeletons, oh my!" type of thing gets a little old after a while. If they're smart they'll avoid the WW2 FPS syndrome and try something different instead of releasing 57 copies of the same game over, and over...
and over... - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11I beg to differ. WoW slideshows on low to mid computers and looks terrible on them as well.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6www.asktomorrow.com
free cgi-proxy ran by my friend. don't over-do it, but it's good for the must-reads. - krellor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Who would REALLY want to play as a heaven-aligned character? Really? I wouldn't. :("
Tyriel kicked so much ass, if I got a character that looked like him and could eventually kick as much ass as him, I would definately play as a heaven aligned character. - bigp3rm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I hope Diablo is not the next MMO. After playing WOW for 3 years I am done with MMOs. I just couldn't stand the players of the game anymore. If you want to progress in "end game" you are forced to raid 4-5 times a week at 4-6 hours a pop. If you miss a night you could lose your spot in the guild. In game items are more important than real life to these people. Read the wow forums for a bit and you will get the picture.
I am looking forward to the release of Diablo 3 (if it's coming). Single player games with multiplayer option of up to 12 people would be fine with me. I could log in for a few hours and get my fix. Starcraft would be different and might make for a good MMO. Leave the Diablo series as it is please! - violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Your friends proxy apparently doesn't fly low enough under WebSense's Radar.
Digg for effort though. - julienbh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Guildwars is not really MMORPG by the classic terms, but it's still a pretty good game. The fact it don't charge money per-month is totally AWESOME. Plus it gets you less addicted IMO.
- zomgPeterson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There's been speculation about Diablo 3 being an MMO, and its supposed to be about the war between heaven and hell. I also heard that the orchestra that worked on the other diablo games leaked that they were making another score for Diablo 3.
I think its definitely Diablo 3 they were referring to. - DoTheFandango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wish you could have Necromancers in WoW. That would be the *****.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Blizzard is one of the few game developers that has never failed to deliver"
Did you ever play The Lost Vikings 2? That game didn't need a sequel at the time--certainly not one with non-viking characters. But I'd love to see a revamped Lost Vikings for current generation.
/It'd make a terrible MMO though. There's no way that many vikings could get lost. - haiduz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The reason they will do this is a financial one. GO to a best buy and look at thier game shelf, you will find startcraft and diablo games still selling at 20 dollars. Blizzard's games have a tremendous shelf life unlike any other game company. If they would release another warcraft mmo they everyone would stop play WoW and that cash cow would almost be dead. However, if they release a mmo under a different blizzard universe (diablo III makes the most sence) WoW shelflife will not be as inpacted and the game would probably sell just as well as full WOW sequel. Plus they can release diablo III or whatever, and still put out WoW expansions. Look at EQII, who plays QE anymore.
- Nichael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder if they'll go for something more out-of-the-box, like EVE? That'd be interesting.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think Guild Wars is the game for you. It's fun and not a time-sink. It actually has an end, too. However that doesn't mean you have to stop playing; there's always more to do.
- uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@bluesdealer
Agreed whole heartedly. As a casual gamer, I didn't expect to like it, but several friends insisted that it wasn't your average MMO, and that it was perfect for someone like me who doesn't have a ton of time to game, but likes online games. I was really surprised how much I got into it. Not like the "plays for days at a time" type WoW player, but just that I can play it a little bit at a time, and don't have to devote all of my free time to playing it just to have a quality experience. Sure, sometimes you do have to grind a bit, but if you get into a party and roll through a few dungeons, it's still fun.
The only thing I could complain about, is the poor quality of service, and their update mechanism. I'm sure I'll get some flak from the bittorrent fans, but sadly, bittorrent doesn't work that great for everyone, and I really think that for how much money they make on the game, Blizz could have sprung for some dedicated update servers, as well as a more advanced testing system to avoid un-necessary down time when patches go live. - atb12688, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It seems to me that they are preparing a "World of Starcraft" where it is both an MMORPG and an RTS, where you can both play alone or immerse yourself onto a team and use yourself in a vital role. This seems to be the most logical conclusion to draw from all of this.
- Korexz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Diablo 3.
Single Player, with Multiplayer support...
ON THE WII ! - Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Tyriel kicked so much ass, if I got a character that looked like him and could eventually kick as much ass as him, I would definately play as a heaven aligned character."
It's Tyrael. TYRAEL. Now he's going to assrape you. - cosmicdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's what I was thinking too. One day we'll find out that their is a "dark portal" that only your spirit can go through. On the other side you'll select which of your starcraft avatars you want to possess.
Or we'll find out that the "World of Warcraft" is just one planet out of many in the Starcraft universe. - buibui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd rather see a complete MMOFPS than another MMORPG if there ever will be a World of Starcraft.. wait shouldn't it be Galaxies of Starcraft?
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i'd go for a diablo top down style point and click MMORPG
That'd be tight imo.. diablo 2 online was always fun :-) - bigp3rm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If the BC expansion allowed for a much larger cap I might have kept playing. Leveling to 70 wasn't going to take much time at all. Also the Oulands itself was way to small for an expansion IMO. We had about 12k people on my server. I just kept trying to picture 10k people running around in this little area.
- bigp3rm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not having porn would free up the internets.
- bigp3rm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah I tried Guild Wars and couldn't get into it. As for "more to do in WOW" I had 5 level 60 toons when I left. Leveling the different classes was a lot of fun. Raiding was fun at 1st I will admit. But after running MC, BWL or NAX over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over burned me out. I couldn't stand the end game guild politics as well.
I did get into the BC beta and leveled to the cap at the time of 67. The expansion was a lot of fun. But hitting the cap again just reminded me of what was soon to come. The same end game crap. - cosmicdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@bigp3rm:
What, if anything, would have kept you playing? - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MMORPGs, etc, will not reach a new level of design and ability under we finally get some real bandwidth. Cable is feeling more and more like dialup and saturation is eventually going to get to be too much of an issue on conventional copper.
Meanwhile, an infrastructure upgrade of the current internet would also provide for acceleration in a vast amount of high-tech 3D social, competitive, and massive games/worlds. - dgaspard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This sucks. I can't visit gamespot at work.... They have to be doing something big with Starcraft. Something big enough to make them cancel Ghost after 5 years of development.
