- LimeParrot, on 02/08/2008, -3/+149That's because Blizzard is a quality company; they care about what goes out under their name and support their games post-release. That's why I hold so much respect for them, compared to, say, Electronic Arts (motto: pump out ***** and collect money ASAP).
e.g. they recently patched DIABLO 2!! (65,000 year old game) - bjkrautk, on 02/08/2008, -0/+104Odd that Starcraft: Ghost wasn't one of the games on the list...?
- wild, on 02/08/2008, -0/+70Thats honestly a much shorter list than i expected.
- mortigon, on 02/08/2008, -0/+63I'm just glad they are breaking away from the MMO scene for Starcraft II, even if it's just for a little bit.
- fani, on 02/08/2008, -7/+61I wouldn't mind if they cancelled WoW and focussed all efforts on Diablo 3
- SteveThePlank, on 02/08/2008, -1/+52Yes, because that was an absolute waste of their time and efforts, not to mention horrible sales figures.
- fadetoone, on 02/08/2008, -0/+33*counts* 1...2...3....... 8... yeah... not longer than I thought...
In other news, hey look, my session expired again! - KnightMareInc, on 02/08/2008, -0/+27so 8 games?
- postalblowfish7, on 02/08/2008, -2/+27as a Mac user all my life, my PC gaming experience was mostly centered around blizzard titles, as they were the only company to actually treat Mac users like they actually owned a computer. every single one of their major PC games has been an iconic, polished, balanced, masterpiece. they have their holy coveted core franchises, and have been very smart about not milking them/over blowing them too much. the commenter above is right - they continue to patch and support their games years and years after they've been released.
just a couple months ago i picked up the StarCraft battlechest on a whim at my local super store - and the installers had the OS X binaries on it. this is for a game that was released a good 3-4 years before OS X existed - just all around class.
hopefully activision doesn't ***** everything up. - Tyrghast, on 02/08/2008, -1/+24I'm looking foward to World of Duty and Call of Warcraft. The activision merger is going to be great!
- Alexandru25, on 02/08/2008, -0/+23I visited Blizzard(I worked for a affiliated company, business end) for a bit two years ago, they had a developer xbox in the break room everybody could play ghost on. It was not bad, just bleh.. nothing exciting about it. It was sorta like MGS with a chick and more guns. On top of that it was no where near done by the time the 360 came out so it would of been a flop. Im glad they canceled it, and thats one of the best things about blizzard, they don't go forward with crap.
- chronichyjinx, on 02/08/2008, -0/+22Wrong! I will...
- Maynza, on 02/08/2008, -0/+22They had to patch it before it became 65535!
- Slovenian6474, on 02/08/2008, -0/+21doubt that. From Blizzard's point of view "Hey! We don't have to make another game for another 20 years!"
- typezeroxx, on 02/08/2008, -0/+20mmm i love the smell of sarcasm in the morning
- Shrubber, on 02/08/2008, -0/+20They're like our grandparents. They've forgotten more than we'll ever know...about.
- theshizzler, on 02/08/2008, -1/+21Don't get me wrong, I love me some Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft... but I'd really love to see what Blizzard could do with a new series/concept.
- grodrigu, on 02/08/2008, -3/+22Your face should have been cancelled
- phaseblue, on 02/08/2008, -0/+18"While they may have a few lesser known titles like Blackthorne and The Lost Vikings on their resumes..." Blackthorne was awesome! I'd forgotten all about that game, it was like Prince of Persia with orcs and a shotgun. Oh, the memories.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+17Starcraft: Ghost was not canceled. It was put on a back burner. It was developed for the last-gen of consoles, and would have been launched right before the current-gen came out. Also, Blizzard seemed unhappy with the original developer, and, well, bought them. The game will come out some day. When it's done.
- repick3, on 02/08/2008, -2/+18You might not care, but what about the 10 million monthly subscribers?
- cmschmidt, on 02/08/2008, -0/+15yeah....was anybody else expecting like 100 games? i guess i really don't understand how much work goes into these games.
- kingmanic, on 02/08/2008, -1/+15Fortunately the other franchise will be World of Diablo: Thinly veiled Skinner Box.
- subsistenc3, on 02/08/2008, -1/+14Um... yes.
It was for 1000g man! I could finally get my epic flying mount...
I mean, I'm totally straight. - NullzipZero, on 02/08/2008, -0/+13I'm still waiting for Rock & Roll Racing 2
- ghosttown80, on 02/08/2008, -0/+12WoW innovated in the MMORPG department, but nobody since has.
- IEatHamburgers, on 02/08/2008, -0/+12Maybe a MMOFPS perhaps?
- mrelusive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+12World of Tony Hawk. Now with more grinding.
- traveler19, on 02/08/2008, -4/+16you will?
- Netrilix, on 02/08/2008, -1/+12You're right, WoW addicts are worse!
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -2/+12Have you ever sucked dick for Warcraft?
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+10It has introduced millions of people who would, otherwise, have had no interest in either a MMO or a fantasy game. Because of WoW, people are reading more non-Tolkien fantasy and are interested in other games like Warhammer (Online and the Tabletop). It also has introduced people to CCGs, people who used to laugh at MTG players.
- wild, on 02/08/2008, -0/+9I have been wanting a Blackthorne sequel since forever. Sadly its probably a forgotten gem at this point...
- SpacePirate, on 02/08/2008, -0/+8Technically, it was suspended indefinitely, if I recall.
- lordtyros, on 02/08/2008, -2/+10I think Swinging Ape Studios would have done a good job on Starcraft Ghost. Metal Arms: Glitch in the System was a gem that went largely unnoticed and unplayed.
- 1gunners4, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7If you have a company that is making 1 billion dollars per year despite being only about 1000 people strong, you leave it alone. Activision knows this.
- chaosium, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7"they aren't dumb enough to try and make Warcraft three"
The only idiot here is you. - archivist, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6diablo 3 starts the game.... in heaven. honest.
- mrgreen4242, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6So, this reminds me to ask, any news on Diablo 3? I'm not to excited about SC2, but D3 would be the first games I'd pay more than $20 for in a few years... I'm glad their doing SC2, though, as there's so many people who want to see that game, but I'm just not one of them. :p
- BedPost, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6StarCraft is the greatest RTS of all time.
- cptn_cardboard, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Cancel WoW and start working on "World of The Lost Vikings"
...for the gameboy color. - inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5Diablo 3
- danqueca, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5"Games People Play" They needed to cancel this for it's name
- kingmanic, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5Bliz owns the IP. Bliz will likely revisit that with a different team of developers or contract flagship to do it (which is 80% bliz north anyways). Flagship tried to do it without bliz and ended up with hellsgate.
- xirtap, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5Oh how I miss Pax Imperia.
- Furiosa, on 02/08/2008, -1/+6Probably means it's not completely in the can, there's hope yet!
- slvrbullet87, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5WoW is a simplified MMORPG, it allowed people to get used to the system and understand the point without being overly complicated
- mustbepatient, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5You realize they're now owned by ATVI, a public company whose CEO recently said they wanted to "exploit" their marquee franchises yearly?
- kesin, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4o please let their new mmo be diablo 3....pleeeeaaassseeee
- mlvassallo, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Went to another developer. RTFA.
