- goeric, on 05/14/2009, -0/+64I'm pretty sure they've confirmed this a long time ago.
- zephc, on 05/14/2009, -1/+50Still before Duke Nukem For(n)ever
- christianw, on 05/14/2009, -1/+34World of World of Warcraft?
FINALLY!! - SteveMax, on 05/14/2009, -0/+23That used to be funny, now it's just.... sad :(
- RyGuyX, on 05/14/2009, -3/+24No.
- KMartSheriff, on 05/14/2009, -0/+21And this is why you're not in charge of game development at Blizzard.
- alkidance, on 05/14/2009, -0/+19Activision & Blizzard Entertainment presents: World of Mechwarriorcraft Online.
No levels involved, only time-trained skills to pilot and equip your MADCAT machines and more. - Rookbird, on 05/14/2009, -0/+15So... getting WoW players to move over to a new game, thus spending an up-front $50, and continuing to pay the same monthly fee they are now (not counting the 99% that will keep their WoW account) will somehow be... stealing from themselves?
Let me tell you something, if you move a dollar from one pocket to the other pocket, and get someone to pay a nickel to see it, you didn't lose anything. - kolding, on 05/13/2009, -4/+17why? maby they are going to make an MMORPG for age 18+ ? There is a huge market there also you know.
- j0rd0n420, on 05/14/2009, -0/+13Which their source points out in the first sentence they quote.
- reyoo30309, on 05/13/2009, -1/+13No your both wrong, the trick is you have to keep moving if you want to stay of ahead of the game just ask the people who ran the newpapers who thought this whole internet thing was "just a fad."
- KMartSheriff, on 05/14/2009, -0/+11Don't worry. Knowing Blizzard's development time, you'll probably be able to start and finish college, and still have a year left till it's released.
- Stewdean, on 05/14/2009, -3/+13Would be nice to have a good MMO. World of Warcraft sets you in a my little pony cutesy land where you kill things to kill bigger things to get things to kill bigger things. There is more to it than that, you also have to walk around, find things, do more walking, find more things and turn those things into other things to help you kill bigger things. Story line? Emotional involvement? This is multilayer maths only rivalled in dullness by Eve (accountancy) On-line.
They want to make a killer MMO - create a game where you are judged on your actions, not on some arbitrary figures. Let them try making a game without levels if they dare. - playuhh, on 05/14/2009, -0/+10The ***** was I on when I made that comment?
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -8/+17Heroin Hero?
You chase the dragon, but never catch it... - tault, on 05/14/2009, -1/+10I can bet almost anything its going to be a sci fi game. It might not have the starcraft IP, but its still going to be a scifi game.
- Bloodwine, on 05/14/2009, -0/+9With Activision involved, it'll probably involve zombies, chainsaws, and hookers.
- Charlotte_Web, on 05/14/2009, -1/+10You play an teenager with no social life, obsessed with playing an online game.
- dvorachek, on 05/14/2009, -0/+9The title is miswritten then, should be reconfirm instead of confirm.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+8Three factions? Wow! What a revolutionary concept for MMORPGs that would be...
- ahac, on 05/14/2009, -0/+8It will take a loooong time before this new MMO gets released.
- ahac, on 05/14/2009, -1/+9You mean... three TOTALLY different factions with totally different classes that would be almost impossible to balance?
- screwy3333, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7Second Life meet Shenmu meet The Sims meet Theme Hosptial meet Call of Duty 4, you are all now related
- mrhandyman, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7I have no idea why someone would digg you down, that is an amazing idea and the developers should be taking notes. I know every single 90's gamer would play this.
- bigp3rm, on 05/14/2009, -3/+10Like games workshop stole from JRR Tolkien? Or like Mythic stole from Blizzard?
- Krissam, on 05/14/2009, -1/+7DAoC, think about it!
- ry4nsm1th, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5Yeah, 5-12. That is a solid 7 hours.
- sirbeta, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6Why is this on the front page? This has been common knowledge for many many months now. The article linked to even just reiterates that they have "already said this."
- Velnich, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5Medieval fantasy doesn't float everyone's boat. A sci-fi blizzard MMO would immediately perk interests. Blizzard can keep changing the rules with WoW, but I'd be interested to see what they could come up with new now with all the experience they have in the MMO business.
- papashawn, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5Is this the one that allows you to play a player that's playing World of Warcraft?
- choppa1890, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6If you bothered to read some of the quests they do have emotional appeal but most people don't care since they are too busy running around getting to 80 and then complaining about "that's it?!"
- failtrain, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6There is a war in wow?
- mrhandyman, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6Dugg because WoW is an amazing game, even if it's not really my thing, I can recognize a good game when I see one. I think the big thing this time around will be players shaping game events and whatnot. A more player-run world like EVE mixed with the genius at Blizzard would make for an enthralling game.
The problem with EVE is that it is not as approachable as WoW, if Blizzard make a player-run universe that is easy to understand and approachable. I'm sure many people would flock to it. - tonychenyj, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5Diablo 3 FTW!!! can't wait to play it.
- ahac, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6Starcraft MMO has one huge problem: factions and classes.
Unlike in WoW where both sides can have the same classes in Starcraft MMO the Terrans, Zerg and Protoss would each need to have their own classes that would be nothing like the classes for other races.
Imagine you want to play a warrior in WoW while your friend wants to play a mage: whatever faction you choose you can play the way you want. Even games such as Warhammer have pretty much mirrored classes. They are not the same... but they do the same function and are equally powerful.
But in Starcraft a tank class of the Terran would be very different from a tank of the Zerg.... even more so with ranged classes and healers.
That would mean that friends would have trouble deciding what race to play (if they want to play together) and it would also be a nightmare to balance. - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6Yeah, you'll have loads of time to play MMOs when you're working 9-5...
- polypropglop, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Oh god, there goes another lost generation.
- j0rd0n420, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5But maybe they'll get new people depending on what type of fantasy setting it is and other stuff. Also the people who would play them both.
- LeviTheSmith, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5I think he was referring to that
- fandyllic, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Buried for not enough news in the news.
- Gregus1032, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4how about no factions. im ***** sick of not being able to kill the asshats on "my side"
*loads up Lineage 2* - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4That's what they said about StarCraft.
At any rate, to follow the storyline properly, there'd actually be three classes, but two would be very similar and one distinct - There would be the solely Terran United Earth Directorate, an alliance between Raynor's Terrans and Zeratul's Protoss, and then Kerrigan's Zerg. - SquidVet, on 05/14/2009, -2/+5Yeah, Tolkien wrote volumes of literature on Tyranids and zealotous power-armored space marines.
- xanarax, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3Woah typo city, I need sleep.
Also, this isn't really news, their new IP MMO has been confirmed for a while known as "Project Hydra" - Valyn, on 05/14/2009, -1/+4Well, that could always be in the next wow expansion.
Gnomish chainsaws
Night Elf / Blood Elf gets the hooker class
Already have a lot of zombies. - Deepmist, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3They don't mention why this warrants a news post in May though.
- tama00, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3There goes another 3 years of my life.
- MonkeyFit, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3EVE FTW. I hate the arbitrary restrictions wow puts in place and the way they try to force the role playing ***** on you. In eve there's so many damn player politics that there's no time for any storyline *****. The world is almost completely player driven.
- JigoroKano, on 05/15/2009, -0/+3When I killed those 10 rats and turned in their tails, it was so touching.
