- staffell, on 10/13/2008, -6/+126If he had the CD Key, he could have just downloaded the torrent. What a foool
- czarr, on 10/14/2008, -1/+72He should get a refund from the state for his education not from blizzard (see: reading comprehension). The guy is a tool. He needed to take the CD KEY that they gave him the first time and use it to attempt the download again. I can use my CDKEY right now (which i purchased retail 10 years ago) and download the game from their website. Now that hes had access to 3 different cd keys he could have just as easily re sold them all.
- Chris1280, on 10/13/2008, -3/+68Are you serious ? with steam you can easily redownload every game easy.
- reyoo30309, on 10/13/2008, -4/+50Very unusual I have had many experiences with blizz support and they have mostly been positive ones. But I do see where the problem lies... its that what your buying essentially is the CD key (information.) That type of information is not something you can return and expect a full refund on. However I don't think the article told us if he got the key when he first made his purchase or somewhere during the activation stage.
- Rev0lver, on 10/13/2008, -14/+58I knew Activision would be bad, bad news for Blizzard.
- greenlight2001, on 10/14/2008, -0/+26Easily easy. No Doubt.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -1/+23buying the game 3 times. sounds like Starcraft 2 already.
- flidge, on 10/13/2008, -3/+24its jazz like this that is one the biggest things in "cons" section of ordering things online. That's why i always use my credit card, just call up the CC company dispute the charge and let them sort it out :)
- PhantomZmoove, on 10/14/2008, -0/+20I even got locked out of an account once, I just forwarded my copy of the purchase and a PDF of the charge on my credit card. They changed my log in and I was good to go within 24 hours.
I've never had trouble from Valve. Which is why I choose to give them my money on occasion. - wrathofg0d, on 10/14/2008, -2/+21I love to rag on Blizzard as much as anyone else when they do ***** up, but this is the guy's fault for not understanding how to use the online store properly.
- dhVyse, on 10/14/2008, -0/+16Not me. Bilzzard ***** me out of $40+ for 3 months of playtime after I had already canceled my damn account. Charged me when it wasn't supposed to be charged. They refused to refund saying that I never canceled, even though I forwarded them the cancellation email several times.
- wealleatpasta, on 10/14/2008, -0/+15he should have worked out payment and problems with blizzard before he paid for the 2nd and 3rd game
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/14/2008, -0/+15*throws tomatoes*
Nothing like an ***** telling you that you shouldn't have done something after it's too late.
My girlfriend bought a physical Sims 2 from Gamestop and the cd key didn't work.
Long story short, EA calls her a thief in one way or another and tells her to take it up with Gamestop who doesn't take back opened pc games.
I log onto pirate bay, one virus scanned cracked exe later and what she paid for, runs.
Meanwhile I've bought from Steam, backed up my games to dvd's and have reinstalled all of them once without a problem.
Just because you get a physical copy doesn't mean anything. - Farik, on 10/14/2008, -2/+17Either you are ***** or a ***** idiot. If the Orange Box package was purchased online you can download it as many times, and to as many computers, as you want. The same goes for purchasing it in store, once that CD key is entered onto your Steam account it's permanently there.
On a side note, it would be really nice if all game companies dropped their proprietary downloader crap and switched to Steam for game distribution. - melkore, on 10/13/2008, -1/+13I'm guessing he was having troubles with the bit p2p downloading for the digital store. He should be able to download it as much as he wants once he has a license and the Blizzard downloader has an option to disable the p2p downloading.
I've downloaded, Starcraft, Warcraft 3+TFT and Diablo 2 off of their store without issue so the service does work. - inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+11Man, I have a legit key, but since torrents are less trouble now than getting up and shuffling through my discs to find the Diablo 2 ones, I just torrented it and then entered in my CD-key. Worked like a charm.
- centerblack, on 10/14/2008, -0/+11Blizzard Support *sucks*. They don't do anything unless a judge gives them a court order legally demanding that they comply. Your only recourse is to report them to the BBB or have your bank issue a charge back.
***** Blizzard. - ry4nsm1th, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10They called again, they want that joke back.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10Glad you have had such good experiences, but I have not.
Blizzards support of their products and the way they treat their customers has gone vastly downhill in the last 2 years.
Maybe they are doing so well that they dont care about a few angry people here and there, or maybe the company has just become so large that they cant assure quality service anymore, but the way I have been treated and the issues I have had are nothing like the Blizzard of old. - jk_baller23, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10If I ever pay for something, I'd like a hard copy, nothing digital.
- slackerbox, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10Yeah, thats just what I would do. Go to some generic looking website and spend money on a CD key that they could very well turn around and sell to another 20 or 30 people.
- JFitzpatrick, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10That was my first thought... sucks he had to go through all that *****, but sometimes if you want something bad enough you have to compensate for a companies incompetence. Sadly.
- Tweekster, on 10/14/2008, -0/+9your bank absolutely sucks.
- malakite33, on 10/14/2008, -2/+11Alright, so noone else has to go through this, you can buy a legit CD key online for $5 from lots of site (got mine from g2buy.com.) Register an online account at blizzard.com and then just download the full game, which never requires a CD input. Have done it many many times and it works great. Viola, $5 diablo 2 with expansion. Same goes for any Blizzard game.
- chaon93, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10those sites just buy up surplus copies of d2 that stores don't want anymore then sell the cd keys, or at least that is the only way that makes sense.
- GoKings, on 10/14/2008, -2/+10Dugg for asking the state for a refund
- TheGuruStud, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9*baffled look on face*
W...T...F...??? - wdr1, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9Tell Blizzard if they can't remedy the situation you will instruct your credit card to reverse the charges. That will most likely change their tune. Companies live in fear of chargebacks, as it adds a lot of overhead & can increase charges from their payment processor.
If they _still_ won't fix the situation, then follow through & call your credit card. Should be pretty easy from there. - BoSuu, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9You don't need a ***** lawyer for small claims court and they wouldn't be doing any squirming.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/14/2008, -0/+8That's when you file in small claims court and win by default when they don't show or when they show and lose.
Your lawyer will get most of the money but you get to watch them squirm. - TheSpore, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9Get a new bank.
Any bank worth it's salt should let you dispute charges, although I agree that all of this should have been done with a credit card, where it is easier to dispute charges. - ZigVicious, on 10/14/2008, -3/+10That sounds illegal?
- Jack8274, on 10/14/2008, -1/+8Oh my god that would be awesome.
- xjonnyx134, on 10/14/2008, -1/+8Considering the CD key is provided via email, not at the time of download, this sounds more to me like this guy is just tryin to jack blizz for extra cd keys.
Realistically what are the odds Blizzard has a system in place that isn't going to work for someone? This guy seems like he knows what is going on and how things work.. and Blizzard is the master of mass digital distribution. - MrFisty, on 10/14/2008, -1/+8"Let's see, I have the red key, the gold key, the mysterious key, but no CD key..."
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6sorry bosuu, never filed myself and have heard of nothing but victory from anyone who filed against a big company over small (to us) charges, I just assumed court = lawyer.
Why are you so angry and how do you know what will happen? - Ymeg, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6This would have happened regardless.
We also do not know if he received the key. - bullhead2007, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6SC2 could have a million missions and I still wouldn't care. If it was really "too big" they could ship it on multiple DVDs. They made a marketing decision to charge everyone for every race's campaign. It's about money, period.
- chaon93, on 10/14/2008, -1/+7dude, d2 is a classic, it runs on any computer you put it on and its still fun.
- thejko, on 10/14/2008, -1/+7I had a similar situation with a Warcraft 3 digital store download several days ago. Blizzard said that there was no solution to the problem available at the time, so they would mail me a physical CD of the product. Very helpful people, this certainly is out of the norm for them.
- riskybeats, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6And here I was expecting some useful input by OntimeAnalSex
- bullhead2007, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6I wouldn't say Blizzard is the master at that..
- Ymeg, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6but what if it is too long?
What if you can get a full gameplay experience from one/third of the trilogy? - WhipkickeN, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6If he had the cd key, it would have been attached to his account and he would be able to download it over and over again for free on the blizzard website.
- TrancePhreak, on 10/14/2008, -1/+6Blizzard lets you enter your CD keys for Diablo, D2X, SC, WC3, etc online and you can download them directly and they are all CD-less installs. Much better than someone's potentially virus infested torrent version and 100% legit.
- mharroun, on 10/14/2008, -2/+7um, welcome to nearly any website being flooded. Thousand of users were probably attempting to do the same thing.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Hahah I don't think you've ever tried to torrent a blizzard product before.
... not that I condone that sort of thing... ;-) - SpeedSteamBoat, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5CRIMINAL!
- Greengoo, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Isn't that the issue at hand? the download wasn't completing properly?
- chaon93, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5before there was 10 missions/race on the game, SC2 has 36 missions for terran alone, and it should have full multi-player besides.
