- Runamuck86, on 11/04/2009, -3/+44I LOVE BIO WARE GAMES
- Cain141, on 11/04/2009, -0/+37The PC version is great.
- barcardi, on 11/04/2009, -2/+35Love the game, hate the DLC abuse of customers.
- Mujokan, on 11/04/2009, -1/+31Bioware rules mostly because of their writers. All you comp sci majors who say liberal arts majors are good for nothing... sorry but that's one thing they are good for. The difference between a reasonable game and a classic game often comes down to how talented the people writing the story are.
- elvispt, on 11/04/2009, -5/+34Bioware = Old Blizzard. (Today's Blizzard are run by Activision's *****).
- AlphaDrake, on 11/04/2009, -0/+26Can't wait for their Star Wars MMO to come out... bye bye job and social life...
- danwallace, on 11/04/2009, -0/+23Right, because resolution totally affects gameplay. ***** elitist.
- kingmanic, on 11/04/2009, -0/+20Blizzard doesn't break ground. They take previously broken ground and build exquisite long lasting properties on them.
- partymachine, on 11/04/2009, -1/+20Bioware and Dragons?!? sign me up.
- JonTheGoose, on 11/04/2009, -1/+19Summary of article: Bioware games rock socks. Dragon age will probaby do the same.
P.S - Ive played it and it does. - Kungfumantis239, on 11/04/2009, -1/+18I disagree with the first comment. Bioware is excellent company that always delivers quality games. In my mind, they are now the premier gaming company. Maybe Blizzard will take the hint and start making ground breaking games again.
- Daxx22, on 11/04/2009, -1/+18I'm blaming EA for that more than Bioware.
- phydeaux70, on 11/04/2009, -0/+17I have been waiting for a game (that isn't an MMO) to capture my attention in the way that Baldur's Gate I, and II did. I bought Dragon Age: Origins last night, installed it, and played for 3 hours. It never crashed ones, looks fantastic, and I began starting to ask myself if I should take a vacation day off of work to sit and play all day.
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to build up a reputation, and I hope they don't squander it by cutting corners to roll out games sooner to make a buck. I don't need to see another Black Isle situation.
I agree that the article fawns over them a bit. I understand the praise of their collection. But there should have been much more time spent on DA:O. - brblol, on 11/04/2009, -1/+18Wow...just wow.
- MrJ777, on 11/04/2009, -2/+18Okok. I get it. This guy really likes Bioware. Why didn't he review the damned game? Obvious endorsement is obvious. Buried.
- ssquared22, on 11/04/2009, -0/+16Dragons, in general, are pretty rad.
- heretrix, on 11/04/2009, -0/+14BioWare's games are awesome, but they really need to tighten up their tech. It is always riddled with bugs. Even so, they never fail to draw me into their game worlds. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2.
- JCEEZ, on 11/04/2009, -1/+13I dunno, I've played an loved most every BioWare game... without even realizing they were all Bioware. Dragon Age was the first game I ever got cus it was Bioware knowing it was beforehand....it hasn't let me down.
- mustang460, on 11/04/2009, -0/+11bioware didnt make kotor2, obsidian did
- buljo, on 11/04/2009, -1/+12Wait, is Dragon Age their first PS3 game?
- stacydigg, on 11/04/2009, -2/+13Well never been disappointed with their line so far, so Dragon Age: Origins will be another quality product from Bioware!
- StevieJanowski, on 11/04/2009, -0/+11its really amazing the customer loyalty they have built up. including this comment string
- Midtowner, on 11/04/2009, -0/+10After all of the hype leading up to this game, I am somewhat underwhelmed. Let's call this what it is -- Bioware, long ago, developed an engine and a style of gameplay. While there have been a few tweaks, the formula of a semi-linear story with meh voice acting, looting small containers and leveling up by killing stuff is pretty much the same.
I played for a few hours last night. While it's a good effort, entertaining, pretty, well written, let's call it what it is -- a new story shoehorned onto a tried and true system. Nothing gamechanging here, just another installment of more of the same.
That said, there's nothing wrong with this situation, but there's really nothing new to see here. - Shawn4168, on 11/04/2009, -3/+12Not until they break free from Activision.
- mustang460, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9Yea I met him in the camp, talked to him for awhile, was about to get a side quest going, he asks for help and the only option i have to accept is something along the lines of...
Hold on give me a minute(connect to EA store to buy this DLC)
Really really gay move =(
The rest of the game is awesome though. - Rizzen, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9I was fine with the DLC until I met an NPC with the GOTTA BUY THIS TO CONTINTUE dialogue option. Throwing an NPC in after I bought the content to lead me in is one thing, that is another. The game is great so I forgive them but damn that annoyed me.
- npcabral, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9Baldurs Gate : Butt kicking for goodness!
- ziffel, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9^^^understatement
- Skyplatoon, on 11/04/2009, -4/+13Yeah sorry man, mass effect was ok but it cant hold a candle to Half-Life.
- Chezzus, on 11/04/2009, -1/+9I played this game on Xbox 360. It is AMAZING!
- ShawnMattCraw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8The expansions added way more playability in most cases. Not just new player models or a couple maps
- KyotoWolf, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8I think that's more an issue you'd have with the RPG genre rather than the game itself.
It's not the best story ever portrayed, if you believe that you haven't played many games. - BoomWav, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8They didn't ship new content for free. They released $50 expansion packs. You know, just like CIV4 or The Sims.
- kingmanic, on 11/04/2009, -1/+9Most of their writers are multi-disciplinary.
- sebedard, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
- TwwIX, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Great game in terms of storyline and characters. The combat can be chaotic and it's hard as **** even though i am playing it on Normal. The characters interact a lot more with each other than in Bioware's previous games. The game looks good for the most part but the world's textures are clearly outdated and look a bit washed out even on the highest settings. It runs great though. No issues so far. I Am rather enjoying it even though i dislike Sword and Sorcery oriented games. Bioware could make a game that puts you in the shoes of a walking turd and i'd probably still end up liking it because of the great writing. This is what the LOTR games should have been. It has a very similar story structure and atmosphere of those movies but with a little KOTOR mixed in with it.
- Ziriux, on 11/04/2009, -2/+9I believe so, one game MS didn't make exclusive.
- Surkit, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Is it wrong of me to dismiss Dragon Age, because I'm focusing too much on Mass Effect2 and SWTOR?
- BoomWav, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Age of empire, Warhammer 40k, Oblivion, Morrowind, Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, etc.
- Drax0n, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Codec.. Umm Super Mario is better than GoW.
- Squirgle, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6Minsc and Boo stand ready!
- weatherlsp, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Agreed. But to be fair, pretty much all full blown Western RPGs are so complicated (# of weapons, # of story branches, etc) that it is extremely difficult to eliminate all of the bugs because there are so many variations on any given play through.
- Beatmiser, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6It's so rare that I will go down and flop out retail price for a game at Gamestop... but I'm thinking Dragon Age may be one of the first times I do so.
- barcardi, on 11/04/2009, -1/+7Remember the glory days... the days 3 years ago when dlc didnt exist and game companies just shipped new cool content for free?
I look forward to the inevitable gaming "bubble" - slippeh, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Yes. ME2 isn't out for 3 months, SW:ToR hasn't even had a date set. Dragon Age is here now, and is absolutely fantastic.
- Pirate42, on 11/04/2009, -1/+7Bioware has always been consistently good since they released Baldurs Gate in 1998.
So they started only a couple years after Blizzard. - kingmanic, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Drax0n:
I really like Blizzard games however Warcraft 1 came out 2 years after dune 2. Dune 2 itself initiated a lot of the conventions of the standard RTS. The actual first RTS is arguable Herzog Zwei. - plhofmei, on 11/04/2009, -3/+8d
- MxM111, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5^^ also understatement
- Bloodfin182, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Bioware is one of the best game developers out there right now. Seriously, have they ever made a bad game??
