- Fygee, on 11/06/2009, -0/+23BioShock 1 (fantastic as it is) was already pretty dumbed down as it is compared to other similar games like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. Dumbing the game down further sounds like a really bad idea.
- jasons65, on 11/06/2009, -1/+18I was really getting sick of playing Pipeflow every time I wanted something
- cwbuecheler, on 11/05/2009, -2/+18Sounds like they're dumbing the game down in a some ways in order to make it "more accessible" ... shades of Deus Ex: Invisible War?
- Ubergoober3, on 11/06/2009, -2/+13It doesn't seem that dumbed down, just seems like they got rid of the stupid hacking game.
- mooninite, on 11/06/2009, -1/+10How's the DRM this time around? Still highly invasive?
- InfinitySnatch, on 11/06/2009, -3/+10As much as I loved the first Bioshock (save the ending) I can't muster even a bit of enthusiasm for this sequel, and I'm not quite sure why.
- kickballs247, on 11/06/2009, -0/+6This is exactly what I was thinking. They already had the godtubes, you could hack anything, use any item, carry anything, and use any weapon right from the start. Now they are making it so you wear a suit of armor and can have bigger guns and shoot fire out of your hand at the same time.
- notyourbroom, on 11/06/2009, -2/+8Would you kindly not screw this game up, 2K?
- beahmad, on 11/06/2009, -1/+6I'm not sure why playing as a Big Daddy has produced so much chatter. You play as a BD for like an hour and a half in the first game.
I think, worst-case scenario, this game will make us all appreciate the original Bioshock. That game was so well done that I found myself constantly saying, "Wow, this game is so well done" while playing.
That being said, I really believe Bioshock 2 will be a game worth buying. - tyrulz, on 11/06/2009, -0/+5No kidding, the only thing i ever spent money on was auto hacking
- Fygee, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4I'm suffering from the same thing. For me it's because of the following:
1. The game looks to be far more action and less strategy (i.e. just shoot everything that moves and use plasmids directly when you feel like it while shooting). Not to say that it can't be fun, but BioShock (and really any game that ends in Shock) isn't just all about that.
2. Most of the mysteries in world of Rapture have been solved and BioShock 1 had a sense of finality to it that makes me wonder what they can do story wise that's not ridiculous or contrived.
3. 10 years on I wonder how the hell Rapture hasn't collapsed by now. The place was already a flood, decaying mess in the first game. With no one in their right mind left to make any repairs or maintain what's already there, it just doesn't seem possible.
4. While 2K Marin are very capable developers, the lack of Ken Levine and 2K Boston worries me. BioShock was very much an Irrational Studios game before they got bought out and renamed, and while there may be some developers that are from that team working on it, it just doesn't feel like the right people are in control of it. Whether or not I'm wrong on that remains to be seen. - Genma, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3probably, but only for those who buy it.
- Mican, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I have never liked FPS single-player games, but I was in awe at Bioshock from the first day I played it to even now. I had to train myself to overcome motion sickness in order to play the game, but it was a no-brainer thing to do. I have heavy doubts that the sequel will be as good, but at the least it should be fairly entertaining.
- Foozy, on 11/06/2009, -2/+4This doesn't seem very Bioshock to me, I'm worried. It's not the same people, so they're trying to inject their own formula into an already great concept. The story being so obviously not as good as Bioshock just makes me wonder what kind of hidden gameplay flaws are ready to be seen. Appealing to COD4=Not Bioshock like
- tribalist, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Agree. BioShock's setting was surprising. But I'd love a System Shock sequel, even though I never finished the last game (where did I put that disc again...)
- beahmad, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2You're full of *****
- SammyboyKIDDAH, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1AHEM *ratio*
- vectoor, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2When I saw the "Hunting the big sister" I actually got really exited and hyped. When the little sister said "big sister doesn't want me playing with you" it really made me feel chills down my spine. The only game I am looking forward more to right now is Mass Effect 2.
Bioshock 2 will be awesome I tell ya! - winterisbetter, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1This article could have been much less subjective. Too much whining/worry about petty things. Judgment shouldn't be passed until the game comes and and is played.
- TrainByte, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1To each his own but Bioshock is a great game, imo.
- signspam1, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1I really think that FPS should really be left to the PC
- mashedup, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2Is there any chance of another System Shock when Bioshock2 is done? Bioshock was a great game. But System Shock 2 is 12 years old and its atmosphere and advanced concept have never been seen since. If you liked Bioshock you really should try its daddy, System Shock2.
- srinihaha, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2I don't understand why the minigames have continued to show up, dumbed down or not. The closest thing I want to a minigame is something like setting an explosive in COD where the game continues around you while you stand in one place long enough to accomplish a task and risk getting killed.
- brainboy7777, on 11/06/2009, -3/+3I'm waiting for reviewers to start gushing over this game and then yahtzee completely demolishes it like the first one.
- mcphilip, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1frankly, i'm burying you simply because you're so concerned with your "ration".
- djnforce9, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0At least you rarely had to do it later on should you decide to be trigger happy with your research camera and max out turrets, security cameras, and security bots enough to auto-hack them (maybe not security cameras though, it's been a while since I've played). I remember I used to trip alarms on purpose just so I could instantly auto-hack the first two security bots that came a long and then just remain camouflaged until the alarm went away.
For what remains (e.g. safes), you could just use an auto-hack tool or just "buy out". Problem solved. The camera was a real flow breaker though which is why I got it over with as soon as possible. - djnforce9, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0It's because playing as a Big Daddy in the Bioshock was very poorly done and not fun at all. You got an armour boost and that's it. With it came a limited field of view thanks to the circular window of the diving helmet, annoying footsteps when you walk, your hand holding the wrench looked the same which made me wonder if I was just wearing the helmet only, and then there was "defending" a little sister who should be invulnerable or at least regenerate health (as one of the voice recordings even said they do).
The rest of Bioshock was awesome but that part was one area I did not particularly enjoy. I look forward to playing Bioshock 2 as I will be purchasing it. - bated321, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1Was anybody else a little creeped out when they read the line, "She kept referring to me as "Daddy," which I liked". Too much information.
- tyrulz, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1honestly you couldn't of had too big of a bury digg ration
- Azriel7, on 11/06/2009, -3/+1Sounds pretty bad honestly, It looks like they took bioshock 1 and just repackaged it, by adding a few new levels(and recycling old ones) and dumbing it down (bioshock was already, WAY dumbed down as is), and just turned it into a shoot, shoot, SHOOT! fest. The story seems pretty stupid, OH, you get to play the first Big Daddy who fight big sisters...whoopdedo, what I always wanted. This is not the same group who made the first game, so I have a feeling this will be another invisible war. I was excited when I heard bioshock 2 was being made, then I got worried when I heard it was playing in the same city, finally it was everything I learned after that, that killed any interest in me.
- huntermcwhite, on 11/06/2009, -4/+1I bought the first one from gamestop, beat it in a few days (only playing a couple hours a day) and then returned it before my week was up. Not even worth a rental.
- SammyboyKIDDAH, on 11/06/2009, -22/+4Right, this will probably ANAILATE MY DIGG/BURRY ration but here goes........I actually disliked bioshock. It was great at that opening scene in the fire in the water, but then it turned cartoony and just crap..... I didn't even complete it and only got 85G'z off the game. I definitely WONT be buying the new game!

What is Digg?
