- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -5/+98Actually they're $7200 a dozen. :)
- walterk29, on 10/12/2007, -10/+69This is great news. Now I can *not* buy one at Best Buy too! :-)
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29I love my PS3...I love my 360 too...it's ok to like both people.
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22When will people realize. You can buy almost any console in each generation and have it be worth your time. If your preference is PS then go for it. I personally love Halo and Zelda so I went with Wii60. Fanboys need to shut there god-damned mouths and realize people maybe, just maybe have different preferences and opinions.
- TwoD, on 10/12/2007, -21/+38Too bad it's easily available in most stores now. (in my area anyway)
- dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -19/+35PS3's are a dime a dozen at stores around here. Wake me when I can buy a Wii off the shelf.
- Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -16/+32thats funny, i live in nyc and i can't find a PS3 anywere
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21I was just in Magnolia Audio Video yesterday (who is owned by Best Buy) and they had PS3's floorstacked so I bought one. Regardless of what everybody says, it's a pretty outstanding machine.

I think that should be:

Too bad by the time Crysis is out your $2000 PC will be obsolete. - milhousebambata, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23@Bobalobabingbon
Uh, the Sony Store on Madison? They've been available there for over a week now. - cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -11/+21This morning I saw 12 of the 60GB versions in the case at the busiest Target just outside of DC. I haven't laid eyes a Wii on shelves since the release date.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12buried. i hate blogs on digg.
- JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10If you want to know why Resistance is good look at the draw distance and number characters on the screen. GoW has some great looking character models but I've never seen any screens with 50 enemies/allies, duking it out unscripted.
Does resistance even use low textures for far away objects? I have yet to notice anything of the kind. - GonadHunter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Do you remember where you are? You're gunna get eaten alive for saying that here
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Call of Duty is a fun game.
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It'd be nice to just be able to drop $650 like that. I didn't buy an Xbox 360 until now because 1. I finally have and HDTV and 2. it was $180 less than buying it about a year ago, thanks to the package deal I got.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9The PS3's aren't hard to find because of hype andeveryone's desire to have one. They'r ehard to find because sony is making them in a small trickle.
- milhousebambata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@hchaudh1
No on Madison Ave. in NYC. The poster said he couldn't find any in NYC. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Good for best buy. In all the retail stores around my area the Wiis are impossible to come up on and the PS3 is abundant.
I just hope they don't really expect to sell all of their units, they'd be sorely dissapointed around here..
P.S. I hate best buy tactics. Just sell the systems, it's hard to upsell accessories anyway when there's a herd of people trying to get the systems. - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@Bobalobabingbon:
> @ AhrenBa
> then your an idiot
You're typo has already been corrected, but also, if you think someone is a idiot for spending 10c on a dozen PS3s, then clearly you are the idiot. If nothing else you can make a linux cluster out of them, which would make a pretty powerful setup for a mere 10c. The PS3 may be the suckiest of the three "next gen" consoles, but a fairly important part of that is the price tag. - F9Phoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've been searching all weekend in NYC. Where are these mythical stacks?
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You don't see many PS3's on the shelf in south florida....... part of the reason is that the consoles weren't put on shelves and had to be asked for. One of the major stores that seems to be doing this is ciruit city.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And we'll hear about it 75 times a day on Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13who cares if best buy gets em? Thats just one more store that nobody will buy a PS3 from!
- RazorElite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It'd be interesting to see how many on average remain after a week or so.
- Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A fun toy. but all sorts of people have said that the console overheats and *****, but i play that thing day and night and haven't found anything wrong yet
- ilferetl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Buried as inaccurate. Best Buy stores have been selling PS3's regularly .. there was even a post about this on Digg only six days ago about how they were selling slowly. I personally sold PS3's (and saw a couple returned) on Christmas Eve at Best Buy.
- Rageous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually at our store we've *been* selling them since the launch... sparsely at first, then we sold about 40 out in the open last week. We're holding another 40 for tomorrow. Not to nitpick, but that's hardly an embargo.
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I mean, who gives a *****. I just got back from my local Target where they have 4 of each version of the PS3 on shelves.
- yeahbuddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So just because the PS3 doesn't sell the instant it arrives at the store makes it a failure?
Get a grip people. It's a great system. I have one (and a Wii mind you) and it has a much stronger future than the Wii, simply based on power. The Wii is wheel phun, but the PS3 is just simply a much more capabale system, and is very future-proofed.
PS3's will sell just fine. Blu-ray will win and the PS3 will again be the dominant machine (ala PS2).
But anyhow, this is a brainwashed Wii/Mac crowd, so who am I kidding? *goes back to watching The Descent on Blu-ray...* - bigred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The Futureshop (Like Best Buy, owned by Best Buy, but was in Canada before Best Buy) where I live had 13 units available today, apparently they had only sold 2 of them as of about 3 PM today. People just don't know that they are available, or they aren't interested in buying them. Probably both.
- TangentThought, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I could lie and say that I work at Best Buy and say that we have over 100 PS3s in stock and nobody wants them.
Seriously, do people think they could make an impact when hearsay like this get posted on Digg? We have no way to verify what you or I just said. So what's the point in saying it? - Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3you do realize that they show gamers ratings too...right?
do you own a 360 or a ps3?
i have a ps3, and play my friends 360 also. they are both great systems, I just happen to like the ps3. thats why i bought one. - mahklo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've been browsing these forums as a great way to get on top of gaming news, but after seeing so much bias floating around, it makes it hard to see digg as a credible news source as opposed to an angry mob out to linch someone. I agree that all three consoles have their strength and weaknesses, they are all fun in their own right. I own a PS3/360/PS2/XBOX and have played a wii but when people get dugg down for having a rational opinion and get dug up for simply praising a system, I'm sorry...but that hardly seems like news to me. What happened to digg?
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"finally start selling Sony PlayStation 3 gaming consoles?"
what the crazy?
BB around here have been selling them for a while. I was in line and 2 people ahead of me were checking out with 2 of the consoles and 2 games. - thayle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So... I personally have not purchased ANY next gen system. I am proud to say I have tried them all AND like them all. I personally think the PS3 is the way to go for myself, because Sony always gets the really good RPGs and I also believe it to be one of the cheapest blu-ray players on the market, and I want to support it.
As for the Wii, I LOVE the Zelda series, but I am being smart with my money and not wasting on it on a system where all I am going to buy is Twilight Princess and maybe Trauma Center.
For the 360, Geometry Wars is an AWESOME game! So is GoW and of course Halo will be awesome, but again that is all to look forward too.
Here is how I would classify it. If you like crazy awesome FPS and other shooters (and Geometry Wars) by all means buy a 360. If you are a casual gamer or just one of those fans who have to buy every Zelda that will ever come out go ahead buy a Wii. If you really like RPGs, think that the future of EyeToy seems awesome, or have just been a follower of Sony all your life, buy a PS3. Keep in mind that PS3 is the only system that currently comes with a HD disc drive. If you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, but thats all you are then maybe you should buy a 360, but if you want a system that can fit all your future media needs and you are still a pretty hardcore gamer buy the PS3. Ya I am probably gonna get bashed for having more of a "bias" for the PS3, but I think it has the best hardware on the market, the cell is a REVOLUTIONARY idea, and that Blu-Ray is going to win the war. - jsherlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This post is insanely false...I work at best buy and as soon as we have gotten them we sell them... as of right now we had like 7 sitting in the back waiting for people to purchase. As soon as someone asks for one they get it...there's no "embargo"
- emansxt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just got back from Wal-Mart and saw 2 60GB in the display and nobody around them. There was no sign of the Wii and a few people around that
- charlescheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I went to Best Buy this morning to pick one up and it was a ghost town. There were three people in line, me included. The first guy bought a PS3. The second guy, I kid you not, was there because he thought Wii's were on sale. And there was me, who bought a PS3. So Best Buy had 29 60GB PS3s left after me, and the Best Buy employees were laughing because nobody was there. At Toys R Us yesterday they had 1 20gb ps3 on hand, and the guy said it had been there for days.
So I agree with the general consensus that the PS3 launch is a disaster. The scalpers took the thunder out of the launch by buying at least 50% of the stock out there. Now that they've killed the launch and are returning the ps3s I think it's really hurt Sony. That said, the price of the PS3 is just a deal breaker for most. The only reason I was willing to pay the price was because I have a new HDTV that does 1080p, and I wanted a blue ray player. If the Blue-Ray player was not a part of the system, there's no way I would have bought a PS3.
Resistance so far has been very impressive.
I would bet that just about anyone who wants a PS3 can walk into a Best Buy today and buy one. It's not a bad system, and when they drop the price, it will sell. So far I'm impressed by the graphics, the system layout, and I was pleasantly surprised by the online content. I'm downloaded the GranTurismo freebie as I type this. I know it's not as good as XBox live, but let's be fair, it's brand new, and it's free. Also, let's recall how much negative press the 360 had at launch. I doubt the PS3 is dead in the water, but they will have to lower the price, and they could not have had a worse launch. In the end, I don't think it will matter 2 years down the road. - Lou3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lift the embargo? It seems the embargo never began.
In fact I was looking for a Wii controller this weekend so I went to 2 different Best Buys, 2 Gamestops, and a Target. No Wiis, Wii accessories (other than bags, stands, and those ridiculously overpriced memory cards), and no ds lites. Even a lot of Wii games were sold out, Rayman was increasingly difficult to track down.
However, at every store I found a PS3. How will Sony spin this? - Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I saw a couple guys standing in line returning them today. They were really pissed off they couldnt make any money off them on eBay.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10"Resistance is a crazy game"
It's your standard generic same-old-***** FPS. Should be called "Call of Duty: Alien Invasion". - daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No kidding, at the Best Buy I work at we got 10 in and it took us 3 days to sell them all, even putting big signs up in front of the store stating that PS3s were in stock.
- TheGrandGeneral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I work at best buy and i can confirm that every store in the western suburbs of chicago will have at least 30 60GB ps3's. My store has had ps3's in the ware house since the 24th of December.
- Avalontor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@kerrie
did you even look at the dates from the user ratings? most of those comments are from early 2006 and even 2005.
I'll take the editors review thank you. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gamer ratings where? you linked to editor reviews and as mentioned, they reviewed based on technology and nothing else.
theres a reason why this digg topic is here. there is no hype for ps3 while there was a ton for xbox 360 and there is now a ton for wii. with that said, i know for a fact that cnet did not compare the consoles from a gamers perspective. - apt11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there are over 5,000 on ebay right now. what triage.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i wasn't even aware bestbuy wasn't selling them.
why's it matter though, no one here actually wants to buy one - zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The bigger question is will anyone care if Best Buy lifts the embargo?
