Best Buy Caught Overcharging For Xbox 360 Peripherals Due To Halo 3 Hype
news.filefront.com — Best Buy has added what some are calling a “Halo 3″ tax to peripherals. With Halo 3 hype building, Best Buy has decided to charge $3 over MSRP for most Xbox 360 peripherals. Don't believe it? Check out the article for yourself!

- DocHoliday22, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Forget Best Buy exploting market trends, have you seen the prices of some of the peripherals of the Xbox 360 anyway? And you certainly need to take your blood pressure tablets for the PS3 peripherals coz those prices will put you in a 3 week coma...
- JayD16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Huh? What PS3 peripherals are that expensive?
- OwdenBowden, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Wait... PS3 has peripherals? Wow that is like taking a dog with no legs for a walk....
As for Best Buy - The only way to make a purchase from them is if it is the last resort. You would do better at walmart but that is also another story.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Wait... PS3 has peripherals? Wow that is like taking a dog with no legs for a walk....
- explodey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What peripherals do you need that are not already built in? Bluetooth headset maybe? To make the 360 wireless, hd, and WiFi, capable you'll spend more than you would on a ps3.
- JayD16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Huh? What PS3 peripherals are that expensive?
- djphatjive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1And the HD-DVD is still $199 at best buy too. Same with at Target. Bastards.
- vwvwvw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I don't think so. Everyone knows that if you want the best price, order it online. The downside is that you have to wait to get it. When you shop at Best Buy, you're paying the "I want it now" tax.

- dryanal, on 10/10/2007, -10/+229Hey, know what mSrp means? It's SUGGESTED. Meaning they can charge whatever the hell they want. This is a capitalistic society, if they want to charge $40 more, that is up to them.
- Hipple, on 10/10/2007, -12/+72But they got caught! This must be against some sort of law! Charging more than other stores?! It's an outrage!
- krewemaynard, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16So go to another store, or order online. It's not like you have to go to Best Buy.
Besides, $3? Whoopti-freakin-do. I've seen much bigger price differences than that.- schoate09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Check the batteries in your sarcasm detector.
- krewemaynard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, I get the sarcasm. Sadly, there are people who really think like that.
/I really just wanted an excuse to say "Whoopti-freakin-do."

- airwalkery2k, on 10/10/2007, -13/+18Capitalism is a fight between producers/retailers and consumers, as both are trying to get the best deal for themselves.
Therefore, a small yet extra charge that one may gloss over if not well versed in the exact prices, can be seen as an assault on us consumers, even if it is perfectly legal. We have every right to warn other consumers, as we must push back to make sure that the retailers know this is an idiotic tactic. Otherwise, every store would be pulling stunts like this.- rulezgetbent, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24Know how to fight back?
well u could try going to the electronic store a block down the road where they sell the item you want for 3 dollars less...
or i suppose you could just pay the extra 3 dollars at best buy and then bitch about it all day. - Tenlow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Well, if every store thought they had a chance of getting away with it, they'd do it in a freaking heartbeat. More profit for free? How can that be bad from a store's perspective?
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5because it's not free. The more they charge for an item the less people will buy the item. It's not about "getting away" with it. It's about the basic rules of supply and demand in the market.
- mtheoryx83, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm not an Econ expert, but you can charge a little more and end up ahead. You may lose a few customers, but will gain more profit.
And the point you are talking about is when the loss of customers is greater than the return in profits. Something about diminishing returns and whatnot.
I doubt that $3 is the point of diminishing returns as most people, especially big box consumers, will likely overlook it. - shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You're right about ending up ahead, but there's a limit, of course. You could sell a hundred eggs for 50 cents each, and make 50 dollars, but you can't sell a single egg for 50 dollars. Well, maybe to the federal government... Just tell them that there are weapons of mass destruction in the egg.
Anyway, the point is that maybe you can get away with 60 cents before customers start walking away, but at 61 cents they decide that it's more worth their time to keep walking and look for other eggs. Now, if Best Buy was the sole retailer of Xbox 360 accessories, then they could start charging you an arm and a leg, and you'd have no recourse since they're the only proverbial egg seller in the world.

- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17It's the consumer's responsibility to be intelligent and make decisions in his or her best interest. I seriously thought that diggers understood basic economics, but I'll give you a basic course. When demand for something goes up and supply stays at a constant level, the price of the commodity goes up until supply can meet demand. Best Buy feels that the demand of the Xbox 360 devices is going to peak so much that increasing the cost of the product will keep demand, which is comprised of both desire and ability to obtain the product, at a stable level. This is standard economics, the kind of stuff you should be learning in high school. Besides, you see larger pieces of equipment like laptops and desktops at ranges of several hundred dollars, and gas has varied by sum totals of 10-15 dollars per tank in the past 5 years( remember when the cost of gas in the states was less than 2 dollars? Way back in 2005...), three American dollars is literally change in my pocket. Don't be so miserly, or go ahead and be so miserly and buy it somewhere else, but keep your idiotic whining to yourself.
- DavidGX, on 10/10/2007, -18/+2How about YOU shut the ***** up instead? If you can't handle opinions that aren't your own you should stay off the internet.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How was anything that you said contradictory to me? And further, how was I whining?
- rulezgetbent, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24Know how to fight back?
- dgblackout, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2it just shows that people are stupid enough to buy things at such inflated prices, nothing new, just annoying if you ask me.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I don't think $3 is "such inflated prices"..... I mean really if something is going to be higher than the suggested price that's not exactly bad.
- nickj6282, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I had a problem like this at Shopko, which for those of you who don't have one in your area, is like Target with higher prices. They were selling Wii accessories at $5-10 above MSRP (still do). But Shopko, like Best Buy, matches ad prices. So I went across the street to Walmart, got a printed ad, took it back to Shopko (this will work at BB too) and matched the prices so I paid only MSRP.
- EvilCan, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5Why didn't you just buy the damn thing from Walmart? Seems like a lot of work to support the store that charges more than MSRP.

- Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -19/+5The claim that capitalism excuses assholery explains a lot of what's wrong with the US.
- davidave, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19no...what's wrong with the US is individuals expecting everyone around to adjust to the individual's needs and preference...it's a free country, don't shop there. better yet, do shop there and pricematch the crap out of those items
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13this isn't assholery. Demand is shifted to the left, supply stays the same and price goes up. It's econ 101 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Price_of_market_balance.svg
I'm an anarcho-communist myself, so I'm not siding with capitalism. This isn't an excuse. It's how capitalism works. - M4tt3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I don't think you could have made a dumber comment. Just to let you know... you are "stupid".....have you ever heard of [cause and effect] or [butterfly effect]. Honest to FSM, stupid people make me so mad... (Funny how he's using a computer, which is part of capitalism, which allows him to bitch about capitalism....what a catch22.)
- jgzman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10No, he is exactly right. This is capitalism, an as such, they can charge anything they want. However, that doesn't mean we have to buy it, and it doesn't mean that we have to like it, either. With the Internet, we can communicate information faster and easier, so the greater advantage is to us. If enough people know about this, and choose not to pay it, then their action will have a negative effect, and they will loose money, and be forced to drop prices.
Hey, look. Capitalism, as controlled by the consumers, not the businesses. Scary thought, eh? - achoo5000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I think the point is that now we know they charge more, thanks to this article, and can take our business elsewhere. = capitalism
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6They can charge whatever the hell they want.
- cathars1s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is why i heart the internet. It just makes capitalism more efficient.
- Hipple, on 10/10/2007, -12/+72But they got caught! This must be against some sort of law! Charging more than other stores?! It's an outrage!
- somunny, on 10/10/2007, -3/+79That site needs to do some hard-hitting, investigative reporting on car/truck dealerships. BTW - The 'S' in 'MSRP stands for 'suggested'.
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -12/+65Solution: Don't buy from Best Buy.
- NgrHader, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Yes but you can purchase a replacement plan for the controller for only a few bucks and if it breaks....guess what? You get another controller
- avktm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1xbox 360 has a 1 year warranty for everything related to the system
- NgrHader, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And this is a two year...and you get a gift card for exactly what you paid for...that is how I managed to pay only 200 more for my PS3 when my 360 died for the last time
- avktm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1xbox 360 has a 1 year warranty for everything related to the system
- stray, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Or, just bring in a competitor's ad and get the price match. (Full disclosure: I work at a Best Buy.)

- Altanar, on 10/10/2007, -6/+149This just in: Business charges more than it costs to purchase products in some lame attempt to make money. News at 11.
- yingjai, on 10/10/2007, -42/+5You people got to stop writing "This just in" and "BREAKING" before I break your balls. It's so lame.
- zizzy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30BREAKING: This just in: yingjai doesn't have a sense of humor.
- unched, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Um, businesses don't buy products in bulk from the manufacturer at MSRP...
- yingjai, on 10/10/2007, -42/+5You people got to stop writing "This just in" and "BREAKING" before I break your balls. It's so lame.
- Natetendo83, on 10/10/2007, -2/+62You people all realize that Best Buy price matches right? This means you go there, they look up the price of the store near by selling it for the old price, sell it to you cheaper than that store, and in the long run you actually save a bit of money by going to Best Buy...that is if you know what you're doing, but most would rather just complain.
- yingjai, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6I don't really understand why people must price match. If you have already found a store selling it for cheaper, you might as well buy it from there. Why go through all the trouble?
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9maybe its closer to some? or the store is better stocked on an item compared to a local store?
- turquoisefish, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I would go to a store that price matches if their after sales service is better. If they are similar then there is no point in forcing a store to price match when you can easily buy it from the other store.
- Pyroteq, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I price match stuff I buy from EB because they have a 7 day return policy and I've found their staff quite helpful.
- ozydingo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I take advantage of Guitar Center's price matching all the time, mostly for the reasons stated above. Closer, better return policy, and helpful staff who now know who I am since I've bought all of my gear there instead of from the various other, mostly online, stores which advertised a lower price.
- MackDiesel2010, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Well they don't price match the internet
- Erik319, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Exactly, they dont price match the internets, and they do give a discount on top of the price match to get you to buy from them.
- Nitrodist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I think it's 110% of the difference. That being, if the difference was $3 (like this case is) then they'd lower their price by $3.30.
- AwwJeah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6They will pricematch with the internet. I've done it through them numerous times. They just have to look it up on the site to make sure you're being legit. It also helps I think if it's a fairly large and well known internet retailer like Amazon (which is who I've always pricematched with). If they won't do it for you, odds are that it's the employee is lazy and is just ***** you. If that's the case, ask for a manager to help you and they'll most definitely look it up and do it for you.
- fanclerks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yep, done it a few times with Amazon. Brought in a print out with the item and price and they price matched without question.
- Erik319, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Exactly, they dont price match the internets, and they do give a discount on top of the price match to get you to buy from them.
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -8/+4ugh, what I hate is when people expect you to pricematch, especially if another store is out of a sale item.
I work at target in australia and its like "how much is the nintendo DS?" and I say $199, "do you price match?" no, no we dont. "why not, *insert store name here* does"
its like, wtf? every store has to have the same business model. - GloomyYardGnome, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1After working at Best Buy, I can tell you that there is no better way to piss of an employee than to price match an item. I'm not saying its right, just expect to get treated like ***** if you try to do it. If you want it at someone else's price, then go to that store.
- achoo5000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why does the employee care?
- EvilMoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Exactly! Not like the Best Buy employee is going to work his way up the chain anyways. Once he gets high enough and has 6 people under him, they'll start reducing his hours until the person quits.
- achoo5000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why does the employee care?
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wait, they still do that?
Price match everything to Wal-Mart.
- yingjai, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6I don't really understand why people must price match. If you have already found a store selling it for cheaper, you might as well buy it from there. Why go through all the trouble?
- mikesbaker, on 10/10/2007, -14/+15oh noes!!! 3 dollars!!!
- Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Clearly, you don't earn your own money.
- mikesbaker, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2its called sarcasm. also I think consoles themselves are a complete waste of money (I have a pc it suits my gaming needs) if I did need a cable like that I would probably get this one:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?dest=9999999997&product_id=5607988&sourceid=0100000030660804502498
half the price and does the same thing

- s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They have actually been charging $3 more than msrp all along, just nobody noticed until now. And you can get x360 cables even cheaper than $20 on ebay, that's where I got my vga cable and it's great.
- Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Clearly, you don't earn your own money.
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -7/+53Yeah, it's over the SUGGESTED price, but so what? Shop somewhere else. Best Buy sucks anyway.
- TypeEE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1it sucked years ago, it takes a lot of suckers to keep this company going
- oracleofmist, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20I'm sure saying "Wow, i'll just go to walmart and buy this for 3 dollars cheaper" with a manager around would stir something up.
- Audacitor, on 10/10/2007, -12/+22I don't care if Best Buy is more expensive, I'm not buying anything from Wal-Mart.
- MackDiesel2010, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22Yeah cause Best Buy isn't an evil corporation.
Oh wait, you're an illogical bitch with liberal guilt
- MackDiesel2010, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22Yeah cause Best Buy isn't an evil corporation.

- SirNoobius, on 10/10/2007, -1/+39if you dont like the price, buy it somewhere else
- DavidGX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4That's probably the whole point of having this article here.. so people know to do just that.
- DreamVsPs2, on 10/10/2007, -17/+2But ONLY on Xbox 360 can play Madden, Nba Live, Tiger Woods, NHL, and HALO 3. No other system will let you do this.
LOL @ MS strategy.- ThE0eNiGmA, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Personally, with the possible exception of Halo 3 (and even though Half-Life 2 is still likely to be better) why would I WANT to play those? Madden is just rehashed with minuscule improvements per year (coming soon: Pay $2.00 for "accurate" stats of your favorite players ) , Tiger Woods isn't Hotshots (which my GF plays) and NBA Live and NHL are just sports titles. Unless this is a extremely lame attempt at humor, that is a pathetic argument in support of a console.
- robszol, on 10/10/2007, -6/+18Basic economics; supply and demand. When demand increases, the supplier will charge more for that price. Why are you surprised?
- evilninjax, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0I wish the Movie Theatre would price match Safeway for the Coke. And I want the Pizza Hut in the airport to charge the same as my local Pizza hut for a personal pizza.
- s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1It's called price gouging as well, which is illegal.
- bethune, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Because there is plenty of supply. Best Buy is not the supplier, they are the retailer and they are paying the same amount every other retailer pays for them so they should charge the same.
- wstrinz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, price gouging is usually only illegal in an emergency. More importantly, best buy, and basically EVERY SINGLE OTHER STORE you shop at is charging the maximum price they think you'll pay, and if you actually look at the supply/demand curve, when you move the demand curve up, the equilibrium point (price) moves up, regardless of supply.
- GalacticXenu, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Supply and Demand. If you ran a store and had something guaranteed to sell like crazy you'd raise the price as well to increase revenues.
Here's how it works: they know something will sell, they raise the price. They aren't so sure something will sell, they lower the price to try to get more people to buy it.
Quit whining and shop somewhere else. Or rather, complain, tell people where the best deals are, and shop somewhere else, but don't get all "RIP OFF RIP OFF RIP OFF"...- onlyclave, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Dude, you know that every person that is outraged by this story is between the ages of 15 and 22 and doesn't want to get "gypped" and has some feeling of "entitlement".

- swizzley, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26So let me get this straight. As demand for a product increases, the price increases. I'm glad someone did some investigating on this...
- GalacticXenu, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1XCUSE ME SIR KARL MARX DISPROVED THAT A LONG TIME AGO, I, A SOCIALILST THAT IS CURRENTLY MAJORING IN SOCIOLOGY, KNOWS THIS WELL, LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE RICH AND HTE POOR (OR THE POOR AND DOWNTRODDEN AS WE SAY IN THE FIELD)

- GalacticXenu, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Geez, it was obvious sarcasm!
- freetyme, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah but it was dumb.

- darkbob87, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Yeah because Best Buy is the only retail chain to "overcharge" for peripherals. Making money and making stockholders happy means making profits, if you don't like it, shop somewhere else.
- FrankieB078, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3This happened to be when I went into the store to purchase the VGA cable for my LCD monitor. It was marked up to $42.99 when it is clearly sold almost everywhere else for $39.99. I don't mean to be cheap but the only reason I went in was because Circuit City didn't have any. To make a long story short the manager saw that indeed other stores were selling it cheaper and gave me a price match.

People can shop wherever they want and merchants can charge whatever they want. Move along folks, nothing to see here. - darkbob87, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Best Buy is over priced compared to what? People obviously like shopping there seeing how they are constantly increasing revenue and opening new stores. BTW companies offer price match so you dont have to go to a million different stores looking for the cheapest item.
- PiMPSP, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Uhh this happens everywhere.. I see this all the time when I'm at the mall.
- Binto, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4seems to me that the conveyed message here is quite simply a very simple misunderstanding of basic economics.
How dare a company, in a crazy scheme to increase revenue, sell things for a price. - halosux, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Buy at Best Buy and come back next day and ask for a Price Match to Circuit City. Save yourself some money.
- slippy4twenty, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3Good god man get a life.
Pricematch it or don't buy it, whats the big deal?! Does 3 dollars really DESTROY YOUR LIFE.
Hate to break it to you, but companies that sell things, HAVE TO MAKE MONEY. (or they go the way of the Wiz) - atmicrat, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1It will cost me less than that to pirate it.
- Intrepion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10good luck on finding the torrent for peripherals...
- Macshiba, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You must be amazing if you can pirate wireless controllers and usb headsets. I didn't know that was even ***** possible!
/sarcasm. - colincornaby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You're going to pirate an XBox 360 Peripheral?
- foxingworth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Let me know if you pull it off. My last attempt at pirating an xbox controller was an utter failure. Something about the cardboard made the controller completely unresponsive.
- Surkit, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2A whole three dollars! well golly gee the best buy, must not be the best buy. I have no idea where they think we ain't going to notice a whole 300 cents.
- ninja0, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2bestbuy licks my balls
- JoshVanDanger, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Yeah well if someone wants to buy it cheaper, they will. No one is forcing anyone to buy these peripherals at Best Buy.
- Macshiba, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Everything Best Buy sells is more expensive than something online. Look at their video cards. Almost every one is anywhere from 5-15 dollars higher than if you bought it from the Nvidia, ATI, whatever website.
This is how Best Buy has been for years.- s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's true, why is this guy getting dugg down? Regular prices @ bestbuy are above msrp.
- CyberNigma, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2It's pretty sad how many people get upset when someone really does try to inform the consumer a bit better so that he/she (if he/she doesn't like it) can go somewhere else..
- mousky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3But the headline uses the word "Caught" to make it appear that Best Buy was doing something illegal or unethical. The poster could have dropped the word "Caught" if he was interested in 'informing' the consumer.
- jpstoneman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What's wrong with it? It's the shop's decision if they want to charge more for something, and the customer's decision as to whether they want to buy from them or not. If you don't like it, go somewhere else!
- Acqua206, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0The thing is th at most consumers won't notice the price difference. I feel as if they're ripping you off just because they can. The word fleecing comes to mind. I think the average consumer expects that Best Buy has the best prices when it comes to things such as electronics because they're a big box store, a Wal-Mart of electronics if you will. I expect Best Buy knows this and saw an opportunity. Rest assure, this won't make the headlines, will soon be in the back pages of digg and forgotten from most diggers minds, people will continue to buy XBox accessories at an inflated price, and BB will increase their bottom line.
However, I think they've violated some kind of trust between consumers and them and have taken advantage of ignorance. I wouldn't be able to tell you off the top of my head what retail is for WiiMotes and PS3 controllers.
newegg FTW!- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How about we insert chips in peoples brains so they don't have to do ANY thinking for themselves? Christ, if you don't spot you're paying $3 more than you need to, that's YOUR problem, not Best Buy's. Maybe Best Buy should put a big "We just increased the price!" sticker on them? You make it sound like it's immoral for Best Buy to set their own prices.
- mousky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who cares how you feel? Most electronic goods are voluntary transactions. If someone buys something at Best Buy, then obviously they thought that the price was acceptable to them or that it was too much of a hassle to save $3.00.
Kudo's to Best Buy for a clever pricing scheme. It's more than the MSRP, but it's low enough to not likely make a difference when buying the item. I love capitalism.

- Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2It is stupid crap like this that makes it look like massive ***** eating corporations like best buy and wal-mart are being attacked all the time, which in turn makes it impossible to attack them for the horrible ***** that they really are doing wrong.
- kmattso, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3They are jacking up the price so they can cover the $10 gift card they are giving out.
http://www.bestbuy.com/halo10
Now who's the a-hole? - uziko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Only idiots buy from best buy. New egg is where people that aren't idiots buy from.
- KyleMistry, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3Solution: Get a better job to afford the...wait, three dollars?
People get this worked up over three dollars? - Fhwqhgads, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Best Buy is ripping people off? This is news?
- TheTjalian, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3People can't afford an extra $3 to that $50 headset for their $400 console?
Tight ass bastards. - kayjay, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2anti-best-buy propaganda.
- Gee1004, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Another best buy sob story
- dethsesh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3SOLUTION: Have them pricematch whatever you want to buy to walmart, very simple
- mousky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Besides being a small enough of a difference that some people won't bother price matching, Best Buy can come out looking good by price matching and not losing any money along the way. It's very clever.
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Bring ads to the store and price comp.
- mike_p, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Wow, reading the headline was so misleading. Here I'm thinking they're overcharging by at least $20. But $3? Come on... this is a puff piece.
- steadyeddie2476, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4i have a friend that works at bestbuy and he was told that accessories is where they make most of there money.
- sUGArDawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0No, it's the PRPs and PSPs (not the Sony POS)....the replacement and service plans
- terranaut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wrong, I used to work at an electronics / appliance store, there is 30 to 70% pure profit in most electronics accessories, excluding Apple products.
- sUGArDawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0No, it's the PRPs and PSPs (not the Sony POS)....the replacement and service plans
- PJBonoMan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0More like '*****' get sucked in by Best Buy.
- jdaniel284, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've always found it curious when men use the term "*****". No matter what context you use this word in, most everyone interprets this as you admitting a repressed homesexual tendency.
- PJBonoMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0How about 'your mother is a *****'?
- jdaniel284, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've always found it curious when men use the term "*****". No matter what context you use this word in, most everyone interprets this as you admitting a repressed homesexual tendency.
- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2I paid 3 dollars for a soda here in Italy. ***** you people.
- crashingechelon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I know this doesn't have to do anything with Xbox 360 peripherals, but has anyone noticed the official Wii Component Cables? They've marked the price from $34.99 to $54.99, when did the price for component cables suddenly increase? I am sure they just weren't in the wrong place either since I saw this price at more than 1 store.
- lma111589, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Best Buy always does that! For Example: Apple headphones are 29.99 on the Apple Store, but at "Best" Buy, they are 39.99!!! That is 33 ***** percent more. Stores already make money by selling products at the MSRP price so why do they need to jack-up the price? I hate Best Buy. It is better at Fry's Electronics.
- terranaut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'd probably use Fry's more, except that the nearest Store is over an hour away & their website is fairly poor.
- s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1what, and bestbuy's site is better?
- terranaut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'd probably use Fry's more, except that the nearest Store is over an hour away & their website is fairly poor.
- bblande, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Looks like a smart business decision on Best Buy's part to me. No one's forcing anyone to get their 360 peripherals at Best Buy anyway. Besides, the smart shopper will have them price match.
- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3They can charge whatever they want. That's the great thing about capitalism, you can take your business elsewhere.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3This is ridiculous. How dare Best Buy horn in on MS' business of overcharging for peripherals.
I mean, $19.99 for a proprietary cable to charge your controller is one thing, but $22.99 is a ripoff.- sUGArDawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Then don't ***** buy it, you idiot! Find it somewhere else for less...the beauty of a free market!
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Seems people missed your sarcasm HappyScrappy :(
- escapedspecimen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1best buy = evil
- BleedingHollow, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2best buy + walmart = evil
