"Beautiful Katamari" on all next gen consoles this fall!
orangeloungeradio.com — The next entry in the "Katamari Damacy" franchise is currently set for October 17th on the PS3 (with SIXAXIS support) & XBOX 360, November 14th on the Wii.

- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -7/+75Dont you mean "on all current gen consoles?" Its past time to drop "next gen," until another round of consoles are on the horizon.
- skie, on 10/12/2007, -41/+7It's still a grey area, I'll give ya that but... PS2 did outsell XBOX 360 & PS3 per February NPD data... and sony didn't SAY that the next gen can officially start yet, did they? ;-P
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+95No, it means that it'll be released on the PS4, the YBOX, and the Wiii
- Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6finally, Xbox love
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36The Wii version could be really interesting.. I'm glad that it has a month later release date, shows that they are putting extra effort into the wii and wiimote.
- joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Cool. I wonder how they are going to push the "scaling" for this one..... Atoms to Solar Systems maybe.
- sh4rkb1t3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9The phrase "Next-gen" was created for advertising purposes. All of the newest consoles are always described as being "Next-gen", even if they have been around for 4 years. The first company to stop using "Next-gen" to describe their console takes a hit from their competitors, because people will think the competing product is next gen, and theirs is not.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -26/+2"No, it means that it'll be released on the PS4, the YBOX, and the Wiii"
A better joke.
No, it means that it'll be released on the PS4, the YBOX, and the Wii...
The Wii is next-gen enough compared to the others... - sych0, on 10/12/2007, -16/+8$20 says its most fun on the wii
- corkster, on 10/12/2007, -15/+8$20 says that every fan boi will digg you up, and me down.
- Shuk, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Lets hope they don't use MS Paint to make their box art again.
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@Shuk
Dude, if you don't love the Katamari box art, you just don't get it.
The cows, the crayon drawings, the delightful chaos. No one wants to see the prince holding a huge gun while topless zombie-babes pose in the background... or do they?
That being said, we are very pleased. - TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@contradictator, I'll entertain that thought.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"No, it means that it'll be released on the PS4, the YBOX, and the Wiii"
I think you mean Sony PCTV, Microsoft PCTV, and Wiii. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You just mean the Xbox 720 and Nintendo System 6. There won't be a PS4.
Gran Turismo, God of War and other Sony properties will likely be published for the 720 or System Six.. - babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly, I don't want to play it. The creator stated a long time ago that he would have nothing to do with any further iterations, and at this point Namco is just milking their one hit original property from the past five years.
- Mewchu11, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5The creator vowed he wouldn't make Katamari Damacy a sequel whore, not to mention the quite soon dates and questionable low low prices.
I call shenanigans- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9The source looks sketchy, but who's saying the original guy's doing it?
Besides, Kojima was saying he'd not do any sequels ever since the original MGS in 1998, and look where it got him. - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+61up.com:
Namco registers new Katamari Damacy trademarks
On August 22, Bandai Namco Games filed trademark applications for Beautiful Katamari Damacy and Katamari Damacy Tres Bien, and on September 7, a further application was filed for Katamari Damacy-kun. Of course we know absolutely nothing about what they might be used for - the applications are broad enough for the names to be used in games, TV shows, music, movies or just a simple email.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9The source looks sketchy, but who's saying the original guy's doing it?
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2what, you people are believing this despite the fact that there is no press release, no real quotes, no real evidence at all?
Oh, wait, I forgot this was Digg...simply saying something on the internet instantly makes it true- flickr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It's been confirmed by Keita Takahashi himself... http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Katamari_Sequels_Confirmed_New_Katamari_T_Shirts_Released
- SurrealDream, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Silence fool!
*Blasts you with his laser beam eyes*
- Azimuth1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12It's on Gamespot now too. http://uk.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=25450559
I'd be so happy if this was true, I'd love a new Katamari game on my 360. - CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Katamari needs to be $20 like the original for me to buy it. $50 is too much for a game that lacks a lot of depth. At $20 it was a bargain gamers dream. Even $30 could work well as a price point.
I loved the original, but I wouldn't have bought it for $50 or $60.- Philodox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Agreed, part of what made the original so great was its low low price point combined with awesome originality. I don't think I'd pay $50 for it.
- Hords, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The article said it was $39.99 for PS3/360 and $29.99 for the Wii.
Personally I'd pay full price for a Katamari Damacy game. Most fun I've had in a long time.
- creoderiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21A new Katamari? Seriously?!? Score!!
- SpectralSounds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A new Katamari would be a very good thing. I just hope they make it a bit longer this time around.
- shadowswordth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I can already hear the Wii/Katamari jokes now...
- mcvay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11wii + katamari = beautiful
- WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15No wii + katamari = katamawii
- t3hNinj4, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Wii love Katamari!
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Call me skeptical, but the wii mote just isn't sensitive enough for a game like this....
- asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@t3hNinj4:
That's too perfect NOT to use. They need to put We Love Katamari on the Virtual Console, just so they can call it Wii Love Katamari
I'm not sure about controlling the katamari ball with the Wii remote though; I couldn't stand the control mechanism in Super Monkey Ball, and I imagine it would be similar.
- WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Playing Katamari on an Xbox360 is like playing Mario on a Sega... Its wrong and shouldn't happen. However I guess you cant stifle greed.
- dvranizan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm not sure how making it available to a greater number of people is greedy.
Wouldn't hording it on a single console strictly for a fanboi sense of alliance be a bit more greedy? - Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How is playing Katamari on a 360 akin to playing Mario on Sega? Was Namco at one point competing with Microsoft in the console sector?
- dvranizan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm not sure how making it available to a greater number of people is greedy.
- pogfreak, on 10/12/2007, -13/+0Look, I loved the original, but we really don't need a 4th Katamari game... just let it be man...
- Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You don't want the next one?
Solution:
Don't buy it.
God, took me like, a whole EIGHT seconds to come up with that.
I'm going to sleep, all that thinking wore me out.
- Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You don't want the next one?
- waterdrop, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I want it for Wii. Now I just gotta find one. That's the hard part. Not worth getting it for Xbox 360. I think this is one game that would work better on PS3 than on Xbox 360 due to the motion controls (I am admitting this even though I will never buy a PS3 or another Sony product ever again). But the Wii version could easily be the best if they do the controls right. So yeah, I think I'll be picking this and a Wii up.
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I'd write this off as just a rumor until something official announced, but Loki and OLR are right 9 out of 10 times.
Loki even called that Halo 3 would be out in Sept. - DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Let the hamster ball wii accessory rumors begin!
- Kupocore, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1While I think that a Katamari game on the Wii will be pretty great, I think the PS3's motion controls are actually better suited for it. I find the Wiimote to be really uncomfortable when held horizontally (ala Excite Truck) and I'm assuming this is the orientation that they'd use for the game. I think the SIXAXIS control will be more comfortable to use than the Wiimote. After watching my girlfriend play the first two Katamari games and move the Dual Shock around like it had motion controls already, it just makes more sense to me.
- tabledesk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Why are the prices discounted? Is it lacking the makings of a full featured game? :(
- Hords, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3All of the previous Katamari Damacy games on the PS2 have been discounted as well. First game $19.99, second game $29.99. Both were fun games, albeit a bit short. It'll probably be the same story. Hopefully they will put some online functionality into it for multiplayer games.
- RAEP, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Dugg for ***** win.
- TheRealDj, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Question: Who in the world would wait 2 months for a Wii version which looks worse than the next gen consoles, and has a similar control to the PS3(I presume)?
- whiterussian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5How about people who either don't have a PS3, don't want to pay 10 extra dollars for better graphics, or maybe for some unknown reason seeing as how there are pretty much 0 details about the game right now and the differences between the ports.
- glittalogik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Meh, Katamari is about the physics and gameplay more than the graphics.
- LordKaT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Answer: those of us smart enough to not spend $600 on a paperweight.
- bigbadgoat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1isn't the PS3 the best at physics? making it more geared towards the PS3?
- flamethrowerxxl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2huzzah. Wii gets Katamari. It'd be nice to see a few control schemes. Wiimote/Nunchuck, Excite Truck style WiiMote position, Classic Controller, and even holding the WiiMote with one hand like a scrub while a partner does the same for multiplayer.
Please have online.

Remember tho, the Wiimote in combination with a CC and clip is exactly the same as a SIXAXIS. - chromo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2THE PRINCE RETURNS!
- SamboGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love Katamari Damacy! I had heard rumors that the series had died, but now my Damacy-spirit is renewed! Thanks, Namco!
- Savus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The creator said that the previous game would be the last one. Liar, liar, pants on fire!
- BlitzacE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@flamethrower
thats a pretty good point about the ps3 beiging suited better than wii
but the wii could also be better by doing more than just tilting and making use of all of the movements of the wiimote and adding some more advanced controls
like a charge where you make a quick push with both hands to pick up items you normally couldnt
but only time will tell im just glad they decided to make another one - PaulGriffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like how "SIXAXIS" is capitalized.
...Like that's a selling point or something.- llmelvisll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually that -is- the correct way to print SIXAXIS, per Sony's requirements. Just like Xbox is printed like so, not XBox, per Microsoft's standard naming conventions.
- Recoil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMG, I think I'm about to experience an orgasm! If this is true, then I can't wait to play this on Wii! Oh and thanks to the Wiimotes rectangular shape I'm sure it would be easy to make a shell for it that lets you hold it like a PS3-controller, in fact I think there already is a shell like that out on the market. I hope they add some Wii-exclusive controls... and maybe the ability to play as your own Mii :)
- RogueX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dude you need to get a girlfriend
- GenerousLinus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"OMG, I think I'm about to experience an orgasm!"
Yeah the first time's always pretty exciting.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome. I took my first two hits of Katamari and I need another.
- chill392, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Console bashing aside, I'm just greatful that there's going to be another Katamari. I worship Katamari.
- ocha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought the Katamari series was over and the creater didnt intend to make any more past the first.
I remember reading somewhere on 1up that he declared the last game and the PSP version the last of the series.
I hope the price point stays low like the last ones. I think 40 dollars is the lowest 360 games can get brand new. I think thats ok but better than paying 50 or 60. I also hope the Wii version is somehow different from the others. I fear downscaled 360/PS3 graphics if it's not :(
Still great games. PS3 + (polished please) SIXAXIS Controls + 5.1 surround sound music and sound = definite win. - Jacinda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Naaaaaa na na na na na ... na na na na na naa.....
- chippies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i just discovered the katamari series. i can't wait for the wii version, i'm convinced it's going to be awesome.
- nonchallant0819, on 03/31/2008, -0/+0This is a great story... found this one through http://www.google.com
