- TWillz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+84We are brought to tears by this story! Oh! I feel it! I feel the Cosmos!
My, Digg really is full of things. - Matteos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Digg Star.

Not exactly. From Joystiq:
"Moriwaki explained that Wii's controller presents certain difficulties that the dev team has yet to overcome." - shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18The dialog really was half of what made that game so awesome, along with the great soundtrack and colorful, blocky graphics. This is one of those rare cases I hope they DON'T improve the graphics too much, otherwise it'd lose the style that the graphics had in the original games.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Definitely going to roll up this article.
I MEAN DIGG IT... em... too much Katamari... - Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The original Katamari-creator guy wasn't that hostile, he merely said he didn't like how the focus of the Wii was all about the controller. Didn't feel like explaining what hype should be about though. =P
Not that it matters, as he's got nothing to do with this project. He left after the second game, but the company still has the license and isn't afraid to use it. - n4cr2k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I wonder if they will incorporate the six axis motion sensing into the ps3 version. That would easily sway my decision on which console to buy it for.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15"The creator of Katamari called the motion sensing of the Wii controller nothing but a gimmick."
The creator of Katamari has absolutely nothing to do with this game. - InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Why wouldn't they incorporate the SIXAXIS motion controls? Besides LAIR, I can't think of any game that would be better for it.
- jakebouma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Now, this is how I roll.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Take away the HD, maybe lower the textures a bit, and I see no reason why it wouldn't. I don't think a game like this is going to push the hardwares of the bigger consoles to their limits anyway, unless they go absolutely crazy with the amount of stuff you can pick up on some of the levels.
The graphics in the screenshots doesn't look all that technically demanding anyway. The stuff we've seen about the new NiGHTS, Super Mario Galaxy, and Smash Bros. Brawl is way above this. - mweflen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This is cruel and unusual punishment. 50% done? Only the Japanese version? How long does that make it for us?!? WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?!?
- iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13I just call 'em like I see 'em
Also from Joystiq:
"I don't think a controller should have that much influence on the enjoyment of games ... I see what [Nintendo is] trying to do, but they're putting such emphasis on the controller; 'Woah, this controller lets you do this!' and I'm thinking - are you messing with us?"

- sourwood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Do you need six cores to play this game?
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If the Katamari comes, shall we go out
To the back alleys and walk with it, swaying, swinging, strolling?
Hey! Look outside the window!
In the sky, where a plane is leaving clouds behind it
Remember we could feel the coming of the pleasant autumn air in the bright orange moon? - JigoroKano, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Do all that and don't you just have Katamari for the PS2?
- hackerssidekick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No Katamari story is complete without the obligatory xkcd link: http://www.xkcd.com/c161.html
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5When was it a Sony Exclusive? Yes, all previous versions were on Sony consoles, but we've known for months that the next iteration was going multi-platform. It's a different situation than DMC4, which was announced for the PS3 but *then* went to the 360 months later.
- uberlord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Guitar Hero, Katamari, and Okami were the three reasons I wanted a PS2. My Wii60 covers only some of the sequels to those games, but Zelda completely blows Okami out of the water anyways
- breathofwater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@indewey, KAY!?
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Assuming they have the completely same levels, plot and dialogue, then yeah they'd have the same game. I have a feeling they're not going to be as shameless to make the same game again.
Seriously though, one step down from X360/PS3 quality is still a helluva lot better than PS2 quality. Already the Gamecube was a good lot more powerful than the PS2, then the Xbox above that, and the Wii is supposed to be capable of much better than any of those. When the developers get their asses in motion and stop doing just PS2 ports that is. - Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This was supposed to be a reply one thread below. Oupsie.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4What I'm really REALLY enthusiastic about is the prospect of a Katamari Online for PC!!! Man oh man do I hope this is for real!
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/katamaridamacyonline/index.html?q=katamari%20online - odinfire, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Hmmm... I wonder if Wii could handle those graphics if it was ported over?
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Boohoo about having a tough time with developing for the Wii controller. Get over it (or "overcome" them) and release a damned Wii version.
I guarantee you'd sell 10 times as many on the Wii as you will for the PS3. - BlitzacE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@outlawadidas
i tottlally agree this game would be perfect for ps3/wii
actually this is one of the only games that fits the sixaxis perfectly
i just dont see why this game would all of the sudden be made for xbox as well - somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I remember playing the first game and thinking "I wish I had that kind of relationship with my father."
- drdank, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This article feels katamari-ish. Not that we know what katamari-ish means.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope this is on XBLA, but still with the great visuals and graphics to be expected on the 360. I can't see myself spending a lot of money on another one of these, but I'll just have to weigh my options once I get more info on the title.
- psionicman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I imported Me & My Katamari and I regret doing it. Oh the game was totally playable, don't get me wrong, and quite fun. I figured out the menu selections with a small amount of trial and error. But a huge part of the charm of Katamari games is the King's dialog, and when you can't read that it takes a lot away from the full experience.
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Well now there is one reason to buy a ps3 (sort of).
Next didn't the actual creator of Katamari call it quits-- saying he never intended for a sequel? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The original article title says "PS3/XBOX360" but the submitter reversed it. How ridiculous.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@brianboyko
If you're being ironic, it's lost on us...
I imported Me and My Katamari from Japan and it was easily the most accessible import game I've bought in years. Controls sucked, but it was playable. - Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Weird, I could swear I read that Beautiful Katamari WILL be on Wii... Gotta check my sources.
(edit: like this http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/beautifulkatamari/index.html?q=katamari ) - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I've always thought a multi-axis trackball (one that can tell if you are turning the ball left, right, or rotating it like a steering wheel) would be a pretty neat controller for Katamari.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Explain how I'm able to play Japanese PS3 games in my US PS3 then. Oh wait, you can't.
NA PS3's has no region encoding for Japanese PS3 games, and vice versa (PS1 and PS2 encoding still applies). The 360's region encoding is randomly enforced, but only on a fraction of the games released. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If you own a PS3, there is nothing stopping you from getting the Japanese version. The 360 version will likely work on American consoles as well.
- metagov, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1[Update: Thanks to a translation by our very own DMV, we can confirm that not only will the game have little to no loading times, but will be gigantic. 10,000 kilometers gigantic. Yowzers.]
Sounds like they are using a procedurally generated world for us to roll around in. We like this very much!
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedural_generation) - jeepnut24, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Sweet, itll be on the 360, can't get here soon enough....
- OutlawAdidas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is quite stupid. For them not to put Katamari on the Wii. First off, the Wii is designed for this type of stuff. Second, everone makes it out that the Wii is so ***** weak. STFU. Different architecture means different ways of processing data. The Wii is hella powerful, but its stupid devs like Namco that does this stupid *****.
Oh and the devs are to ***** lazy to actually make the Wii controller work for Katamari. For a controller that can move in 3D space, why couldn't it control a ball that moves within the X and Y axis? - virtuality96, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I thought I read that the release will be in october of this year
- brianboyko, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Besides, if you get the Japanese version, you won't be able to understand what the game is about. It won't make any sense at all!
- everybod, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Katamari really is one of the best relatively new games to hit the console scene.
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Why must they include online play in everything? :(
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Nice! I've always wanted to play this game. Now I don't have to give Sony any of my money.
- mweflen, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1AFAIK, both PS3 and 360 have region encoding.
- mweflen, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1AFAIK, both PS3 and 360 have region encoding.
- Hetman, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5This is another sony exclusive that they shouldnt have lost. This is just another reason to get a 360.
- iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -20/+7The creator of Katamari called the motion sensing of the Wii controller nothing but a gimmick. To add motion sensing controls to the PS3 version at this point would make him a hypocrite, and I can't see him putting himself in that position.
