- louiebaur, on 08/07/2008, -2/+16Yea a little Eddie Van Halen never hurt anybody other than the fact that it will probably make your fingers bleed playing it:-)
- BrokenVisage, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Wonder what VH track they're gonna use. The only downside is does this mean there will be no Van Halen-exclusive GH game down the line?
- CurlyMike139125, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1The Van Halen song was already announced, it's "Hot For Teacher"
- DrCyclops, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Considering Van Halen's... complicated history, I'd say that an all Van Halen Guitar Hero will probably never happen.
- boardthis, on 08/07/2008, -1/+9if your fingers are bleeding from touching buttons then you have a serious problem.
- BrokenVisage, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Wonder what VH track they're gonna use. The only downside is does this mean there will be no Van Halen-exclusive GH game down the line?
- darkchild82, on 08/07/2008, -5/+9At first, I was like 'Michael Jackson'? But then, the song started playing in my head and realized it would be a good fit for the game. As for "In the End" by Linkin Park .... (*sigh*) I like the band but their music does not translate well for such games. It's as lame as the Coldplay pack that was released for Guitar Hero III recently
- darkchild82, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0Update: The Prince of Darkness is going to appear in Guitar Hero: World Tour! So will the tracks 'Crazy Train' & 'Mr. Crowley'. Source: http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/687961/Ozzy_ ...
- scooterbaga, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2ur doin it wrong
- cygnus2112, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Can we buy GH4: World Tour without the Michael Jackson track? Can we record over it with some Zeppelin?
- Rotkiv, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1i hope they don't make you play that keyboard intro with the guitar... that's one thing that pisses me off a lot in GH is when they mix up the instruments... i don't know why it pisses me off it just does.
- splorpdotorg, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Yeah, a song with Eddie Van Halen for the guitar solo, Jeff Pocaro (Toto) on drums, Steve Lukather (Toto and incredible session guitarist) on lead guitar and Michael Jackson (pre-completely nutcase status) on vocals would be a bad idea.
Dumbass.

- RegularJohn, on 08/07/2008, -1/+14Ah, The Doors and Smashing Pumpkins will be fun to play. Dragonforce is gonna be a problem though, as always :
- SpiraetSpera, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1"Light My Fire"? Who's waiting around for that organ solo to end?
- tidu, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3This is Guitar Hero... guitar's gonna be playing the riffs, the bass, the organ, and piano, and they'll STILL overchart it
- splorpdotorg, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3"The gypsies have no homes, The Doors have no bass." -Bruce McCulloch
- SpiraetSpera, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1"Light My Fire"? Who's waiting around for that organ solo to end?
- fivefever, on 08/07/2008, -0/+6keeeeep it coming....
- gcnaddict, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Just beat it.
- michaelwong38, on 08/07/2008, -2/+5yeah i guess there's that pretty sick solo in the middle when they face off with one another, but the fashion, ouch
- ouorama, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4All fashion looks pretty stupid when you take it 25 years out of context. I'm sure that 3 month old infant will be laughing at your fashion when he's 25. That fashion was hot back in the day and every kid on the street tried to emulate it.
- Coffeedemon, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2***** right. I had one of those red jackets like in the video back in the year when it came out. Ridiculous now sure but that was the style of the times.

- codeblue315, on 08/07/2008, -1/+17Finally some kick ass Smashing Pumpkins on here (aside from the DLC on Rock Band, 'Zero'), no more of that 'Cherub Rock', not that I don't like that song, but wow I'm so sick of it.
- ThePowerDigger, on 08/09/2008, -1/+19So are we getting a keyboard attachment for 'Light My Fire' by The Doors?
- mikek814, on 08/07/2008, -6/+10Who cares, Rock Band pwns Gui... oh wait, this one has drums too
- CristianRaiber, on 08/07/2008, -1/+14So do we need to hold our noses while singing like Billy Corgan?
- scooterbaga, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I've always wondered what some of those songs would sound like if Billy wasn't singing them.
No offense, love the voice, wouldn't change a thing... Just curious if it would translate well to a more... 'traditional' voice.- speakafreaka, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Search the internets for these =)
1. The New Amsterdams - Thirty Tree
2. The Academy Is - Mayonaise
3. Test Your Reflex - Ava Adore
4. Plus44 - I Am One

Ben Kweller put his stamp on an inspiring rendition of the classic, "Today."
6. Young love - 1979 !!! Here in the blog I have three versions more, by Budapest, by Lismore and by Rob Thomas. Tell me what's your favourite cover of 1979 .

- logicalnoise, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1nope but you do have to shove a running electric razor in your mouth while singing.
- amoirae, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1No, that's for the Pogues.
- scooterbaga, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I've always wondered what some of those songs would sound like if Billy wasn't singing them.
- Cdog923, on 08/07/2008, -11/+38Am I the only one more excited for GH 4 than RB?
- Tob3z, on 08/07/2008, -4/+24No. I don't understand the hate for GH.
- PullingTeeth, on 08/07/2008, -4/+23GH3 sucked pretty hard compared to what Rockband did.
- HOTM, on 08/07/2008, -0/+11GH3's charts were pretty off, lots of parts where there wasn't any guitar but you still played(Like When You Were Young, you play the synth).
Hopefully it's fixed this time around. - Pinkshisno, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2It's "cool" to hate what's popular. GH3 is the weakest when compared to GH and GH2, but it's still a good game.
- Tob3z, on 08/07/2008, -1/+4GH3 was the worst out of GH1 & 2 because of the timing window and set list. But it's not a bad game. I haven't bought RB because us brits got shafted on the price, no doubt the same will happen with GH4.
To me though it's like Halo 2 coming out and people saying Halo 1 is now a crap game. I know GH3 and RB are two completely different games made by different developers, but because Rock Band came out later and it is better, it doesn't make GH3 a bad game.
Just saying :p - nicko68, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3As a Wii owner, I'm definitely more excited about GH:WT. As of now, it looks like that is the only one which will support DLC, finally.
- PullingTeeth, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Tob3z: GH1/2 developers are RB devs now. All Halos were made for Bungie. So I guess you could say all Harmonix games are well liked.
- Ericular, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2GH3 was nothing amazing compared to 1, 2, and 80s. Especially with Rock Band taking the "full band experience" and online content crown. However, GH4 looks to be a formidable response, particularly for Wii owners. In other words, this game is going to blast your ass out of the universe. You'll see.
- ELpEpE21, on 08/08/2008, -0/+0GH 3 is were the developers split
Harmonix got RB
and Red Octane stayed with GH
they both make music games other than these
both should be good
and playing the synth in the games is just a filler
i rather keep on playing then just stoping for the synth to be over
like that who song in RB, all parts stop playing and u have to wait
- chaosblade77, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2I'm looking forward to GH4 mostly because I've already got a GH controller... and I don't care about the other instruments. If someone else in my household wants to play the drums or something, they can put out the money for them.
There's also the fact that the only console I own right now (current generation at least) is a Wii, and it's not worth it to wait until I get a 360 for a game where graphics don't make even the slightest difference. - djpray2k, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Likewise, I've got the guitar already so I'm happy. I don't have the space in my apartment for a ton of instruments for a game.
- Tob3z, on 08/07/2008, -4/+24No. I don't understand the hate for GH.

- leerayIG88, on 08/07/2008, -2/+2Does this game have Stratovarius?
- Johnkerry04, on 08/07/2008, -4/+27Thank god its the original "beat it"... The Fall Out Boy version is a crime against music.
- petebot, on 08/07/2008, -3/+40Fall Out Boy is a crime against music....
- TheKitchenSinkX, on 08/07/2008, -16/+2Except not. Just because it's mainstream doesn't mean it sucks.
- Cloud7654, on 08/07/2008, -5/+4While I'm inclined to agree with you because I too dislike Fall Out Boy's music, it's not a crime against music. It's all a matter of taste and some people love Fall Out Boy. I'm sure some would argue that your favorite band and my favorite band are both "crimes against music".
- EvilLordBanana, on 08/07/2008, -1/+14Fallout Boy doesn't suck because they are mainstream, they suck because their music sounds like an audio bowel movement.
- freetyme, on 08/07/2008, -2/+6Amen.
- petebot, on 08/07/2008, -3/+40Fall Out Boy is a crime against music....

- frenchkick, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3RB 2 is getting "PDA", which i would love to play
but at least its not a song from their recent album..which was a disappointment - faceless323, on 08/07/2008, -0/+11Wouldn't a girl fap be "flick flick flick" or "nom nom nom"?

BOW du duu dee dooo, baaa do nu nuuu. - kronaldo, on 08/07/2008, -3/+10Anyone want to explain how In The End won't suck?
- psylemon, on 08/07/2008, -2/+31because in the end, it doesn't even matter
- MikeSetera, on 08/07/2008, -1/+16Light My Fire is gonna be awesome
- chick4869, on 08/07/2008, -6/+1I like Rock Band better then guitar hero too. I think its because it gets you more involved with the other people. I like playing the drums the best then singing then guitar. For me the drums are a lot easier. . . . you have to have some sort of rythem to play the drums and it actually kind of does help you if your learning to play. The guitar is nothing like playing an actual guitar though. And the singing really doesn't help at all eithr. . .talking about it made me wanna play now
- nicko68, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2That's great, but GH:World Tour will have drums and vocals also.
- ELpEpE21, on 08/08/2008, -0/+0so what you saying is that you like rock band more because you suck at guitar
- shaymein, on 08/07/2008, -1/+9that guitar lick was the essence of my childhood ears...
- Shadic, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1You're a word wizard, shaymein.
- vinibinini, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2I Might but GH4 but only the software since apparently they're compatible with RB instruments

- scubasteve03, on 08/07/2008, -0/+6Yeah, seriously what's next? Soon they'll put out entire expansion games dedicated to bands no one has cared about for 10 years.
OH WAIT A SECOND GUYS THAT ALREADY HAPPENED.

- yohnstoppable, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Who the ***** actually is on twitter? What a useless program that is
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 08/07/2008, -1/+3These games need to incorporate more of the greats. I mean, even Singstar has David Bowie and Pulp.
- veganpunk, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Rock Band has Bowie. Wish it had some Ziggy though.
- reddevil3, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1We need more Steve Vai and Joe Satriani!
I am really hating this Rock Band/Guitar Hero fight. You have to buy both to get all the songs you like, and there is the problem of peripheral incompatibility. I love competition, but in this case it can be a problem due to the high price.- nicko68, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1I agree that instrument compatibility is an issue, though they will be compatible at least on the 360. But unless Rock Band and Guitar Hero have identical setlists (on disc or through DLC) then you have to buy both to have all the songs anyway.
- chaosblade77, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1I'd like to see both of them work out a deal with a third party to make peripherals. Compatible with both games, and both sides will see a share of the profit.
Honestly, I'd be more inclined to buy both if they had compatible instruments. They might get less money from me that way, but at least they get some. I think that's the biggest advantage the 360 has regarding these music games.
- elfuego, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Impressive, very good choices all(save perhaps for the Linkin Park). Now can they hurry up and release the entire goddamned setlist?
- faceless323, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Youtube ruined In The End for me. Just about every AMV has In The End as its song.
- thirdeyeopen666, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3Linkin Park ruined it for me.
- kamikazicondon, on 08/07/2008, -1/+18MUSE!
- fuzzynyanko, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Beat it: I remember Weird Al's parody of it where the guy's guitar began to smoke and exploded. Definitely a sign of a game destined to Guitar Hero or Rock Band.
- Mossman85, on 08/07/2008, -1/+6What time is it when the little hand is on the big hand? Bed time at Michael Jackson's house.
- cygnus2112, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2What time is it when the second hand is on the seven of MJ's black clock? Playtime.
- VinnieDaMac, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Looks like I HAVE to buy both now. Just the discs though.
- LordKaT, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1I want some Kurikiton Fox: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz3RF4AcY7s
- danthepiercer, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1why would In the End be on there...its like what, a whole 3 chords...in D no less.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1you gotta have something to put on the easiest set
- MehYam, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Bash LP all you want but know what you're talking about if you're going to criticize it on music theory level. A lot of their chords use suspended 2nd's and other interesting voicings you don't usually hear in this type of music. Their guitarist (whoever he is) has taken a lot of overused chord progressions and injected new life into them. Whether you like the result or not is another matter, but actually fretting some of those combinations in real life isn't as simple as you'd think.
OT, but hey.
- Invader001, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1pictures or it didnt happen
- WaveRunningNakd, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2not sure if pop (mj) or rap-rock (lp) really makes sense in guitar hero. at least with rock band, the whole "group effort" thing helps out with songs that are less guitar heavy.
and yes, i know the upcoming version of guitar hero is a rock band clone. i'm just trying to point out the difference (or what should be the difference) between the two brands.- DrCyclops, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1You're forgetting that Eddie Van Halen played guitar on Beat It.
But, yeah, the Linkin Park thing makes me gag a little bit.
- DrCyclops, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1You're forgetting that Eddie Van Halen played guitar on Beat It.
- staticjeff, on 08/07/2008, -7/+0why don't you learn to play a real guitar and play any song you want?
- westhepirate, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20070 ...
- Funbox, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Because playing a guitar and playing an entertaining rhythm game are not the same thing.
Why don't you go on a shooting spree instead of playing Call of Duty? It's more realistic.
Get the ***** off the internet.- staticjeff, on 08/12/2008, -0/+0wtf are you doing on the net anyways? shouldn't you be trying to get your score higher on the leaderboard?

- secondfiddle, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0And the geek shall inherit the earth.
- Misplaced, on 08/08/2008, -0/+0Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley are on the game too. Now I have to buy it! Those are 2 of the greatest ever recorded by Ozzy and Randy Rhoads. This is whats Guitar Hero should have GOOD GUITAR SONGS, not songs that makes me feel like I'm playing Rock Band. I love and hate the fact Guitar Hero has drums and vocals...... IT'S GUITAR HERO its should be all guitar!!! AUGH!!! They need to stop this war someone make a petition.
P.S: In the end???? WTF - Hearshot, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2i'm trying to justify keeping with the RB brand so i dont' have to keep 2 band sets in my home.... but damn, i want to sing some Michael Jackson too........
- evanman69, on 08/08/2008, -0/+0Never trust a man with one white glove that sings Beat It.

- AGONYTUESDAY, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2why cant they release a guitar hero game that is JUST classic rock? all of these new "rock" songs ruin the game. just ONE with nothing but pre-1980 songs? the Who? Zeppelin? Pink Floyd? John Mellencamp?
I really want to see Bob Segar's "Down on Main Street". - Impius, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Yay for The Doors.
WTF for Michael Jackson....- theillest1, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Do yourself a favor and listen to the song and then jump out of a window after realizing your foolishness.
