You would think that, perhaps, in the future we could show a little love to our brethern, rather than shoot them for running south as the ice cap washes over the north side of the United States. The solution? Kill them all, and look good doing it. And this time we'll be using mech assault vehicles and hovercraft.
I lookforward to Borderfield 2006, where you play as either a Mexican border patrol, or Canadian border patrol, where you shoot at hostile 'aliens' as they attempt to cross the border illegally. Fully equipped with, no less, rocket launchers, sniper rifles, and grenade launchers.
The trailer looks okay, albeit a tad cheesey with the glowy screen of rememberance. But the game looks like it could breath fresh life in this.... No, no wait. Battlefield 2142 will probably be just the same engine with new players and vehicles, only this time there's no factual basis for the story, and you shoot the homeless. I'm kind of looking forward to this one, and hope and pray that they finally make the vehicles, specifically the aircraft, flyable enough that I can fly *and* shoot them - rather than my curent tactic, which is kamkazi the plane in the first enemy I see.

This machine, while not the best, hasn't seen much resistance from anything other than Quake 4 (which didn't run badly, just slowly when cranked).

Something to keep the interest alive in the Battlefield franchise. It just uses the same engine with modifications here and there, and a huge content update to it. For people who are saying why there is no official word on it, well the promotional video was given to PC Gamer for their May 2006 edition. You won't probably be seeing an "official" annoucement about this until April. But trust me, it is real.

UT2k7 has the advantages of incredible modding (look up Kismet), QW will be first to market, and BF2142 has the advantage that they have the most experience in solid vehicle-driven large-scale team multiplayer.

Outdoor FPS games enhance with vehicles have come a long way. And now with the Birth of BF2124 we have entered the realm of ... better graphics version of Tribes with Mechs? COOL! its like we have come full circle or in other word Back to the Future.

That's what I said when I first saw that effect in Unreal (1999), then again in Unreal Tournament (2000), Unreal Tournament 2k3 (2002), and Unreal Tournament 2k4 (2003). - AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5EA rushes there developers too much, barraging the market with unnecessary sequels that give of a shotly made vibe to them, most of them disappointing, I'm afraid this may go down the same road as battlefield Vietnam as only ... mediocre. They need to lean that good games take time, people waited for halo 2 and half life 2 for years and years, and the end product was wonderful. If only EA could realize this they wouldn't be the most shunned company in the market... that on the whole treating their employees like slaves buying out all the competitors and just keeping relatively bad franchises.
