- TheThirdLevel, on 07/14/2008, -1/+10That's not breaking, that's old news.
- TomRemixed, on 07/14/2008, -11/+1Yea like I heard about that back in third grade. OHHHHH DAYYYUMMN gotcha on that burn.
- oblivionatm, on 07/14/2008, -7/+19Yeah, that's why you cared enough to comment about it, you're talking yourself in circles boy.
- Baronvontito1, on 07/14/2008, -4/+11The comments below you seem to disagree.
- IanPR, on 07/14/2008, -4/+2Thats minorly offensive.

- DaHuuuuuudge, on 07/14/2008, -12/+55BREAKING! GregsLegend is an idiot!
- MasterJoefus, on 07/14/2008, -9/+27I can't wait for RB2. So many great songs... even if the music genre has become a bit cliched.
- Vikaas, on 07/14/2008, -3/+2Yeah, their list has some amazing old school hits, but kind of misses a lot of contemporary rock.
- Spudster, on 07/14/2008, -9/+3REALLY disappointed Paradise City by Guns and Roses isn't there. That song would be an amazingly epic Rockband song.
- ngmcs8203, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Can somebody do us a favor and post the list in the comments? Kotaku is blocked at work and I'm anxious to see what songs are being released. Thanks in advance.
- quomen, on 07/14/2008, -3/+15Ease your anxiety!

- MarkCiccone, on 07/14/2008, -5/+5Wow one Grateful Dead song and no Phish? Guitar Hero and Rockband love ***** 80s hair bands too much.
- thestranger, on 07/14/2008, -7/+7maybe because grateful dead are mediocre at best, and Phish is horrible.
- MarkCiccone, on 07/14/2008, -8/+4Hahaha the Grateful Dead 'mediocre at best'!? And Phish is 'horrible'!? Clearly you know a lot about music.
- ike368, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1i think that's sort of the point
- Puppetfunk, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3There are quite a few Dead songs you can download for Rockband.

YES!
- Falsey, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2My God, Teenage Riot and ***** Everlong.
- dsmx, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6Yet despite all those tracks there is still no queen.
- hack58, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Two words... BAD COMPANY!
I wish they would have chosen Rock Steady though. I love the guitar in that song. - hays, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3Good stuff, but no Muse or Queen :(
- psylemon, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3or NIN
- ronaldinho, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Dugg for having Red Hot Chili Peppers "Give It Away"
- ballsjohnson, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Master of Puppets by Metallica would be a good one
- DaHuuuuuudge, on 07/14/2008, -5/+55For those to lazy to read it all, here are some highlights:
"Owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay-the first time ever in videogame history!"
"Rock Band 2 will feature backwards compatibility with all Rock Band downloadable music content released to date."
"The Rock Band 2 on-disc track list is comprised entirely of master recordings."- username9000, on 07/14/2008, -11/+2Also, its a 360 exclusive.
- hollismb, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4'TIMED' exclusive only. It comes out on other systems later.
- username9000, on 07/14/2008, -5/+1@hollismb. All I know is the Harmonix dude said 360 exclusive.
- hollismb, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Fair enough... here's from the press release on 6/30: "Rock Band 2 will make its debut on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft this September and have an exclusive launch window in North America. Rock Band 2 will be available for additional platforms later this year."
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59 ... - username9000, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4thanks for clearing that up.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2for 2 months.
- Nick22, on 07/14/2008, -14/+4WOW! So for the FIRST TIME EVER IN HISTORY I can get rock band 1 songs onto rock band 2????
NO ***** WAY! THIS GAME IS GONNA CHANGE THE INDUSTRY FOREVER!!! - gr33nie, on 07/14/2008, -0/+38Don't forget to mention that Harmonix wanted over 100 songs on the disc but didn't have time to meet the 360 release date. The remaining 20 will be release as FREE DLC in the holiday season '08.
- Jethris, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Source?
- kravex, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Really? I watched the E3 event live online and he said you would be able to transfer downloaded content from RB1, can't remember him mentioning the disc maybe I missed that.
- username9000, on 07/14/2008, -11/+2Also, its a 360 exclusive.
- AZRoboto, on 07/14/2008, -10/+134And you'll be able to get most of your Rock Band 1 songs forwarded to Rock Band 2.
Eat that, Guitar Hero World Tour.- dangerdooms, on 07/14/2008, -12/+5I thought you can make your own music in Guitar Hero World Tour, will RB2 have that...?
- hollismb, on 07/14/2008, -4/+12Probably not. But seriously... who the hell is going to do that anyway? I sure as heck wouldn't.
- tidu, on 07/14/2008, -0/+13I for one can't wait to waste 100 hours trying to beat George's Mix 001 on expert which has the difficulty of Through the Fire and the Flames.
- MasterGrief, on 07/14/2008, -0/+8I'll be honest hollismb, I'd like to do that quite a lot. I much prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero, but the possibility of playing self-authored Fake Guitar Music for any song I ever liked is a great idea, I think. I mean, with Guitar Hero World Tour, I could play songs from Reel Big Fish, Rehab, and even, I don't know, the Dueling Banjo scene in Deliverance. (I have already seen a Dueling Banjos for GH2, but I think it could be done better)
I think I'll just have to purchase both games. - MikeSetera, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5Wow.. people are needlessly hating on GH World Tour.
Lemme just say that if I had a 360, I'd get Rock Band 2 in a heartbeat.
However, I do not. I have a Wii. I'm not going to purchase the crippled ***** port of the ps2 version that is Rock Band. I'm buying GHWT instead, which is not a ***** port but the full game!
Bring on the buries for actually buying a great game. - asskicker32, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2I think Im going to get both. thats how wild and wacky I am.
- metaboman, on 07/14/2008, -0/+10nom nom nom...*choke*
GO RB2!- ike368, on 07/15/2008, -3/+2did anyone else read this as a Rock Band fan choking on the commercial video-game institution's dick?
- TheKeithD, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3@ ike368: No, I think you just think too much about making everything a phallus. FREUD WAS RIGHT!
- mrhedges, on 07/15/2008, -2/+1I don't have Rock Band 1, so that point is useless to me. I will however, be purchasing whichever set has of drums, and with the Ion option, that's probably going to be RB2.
- areohbe, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2all songs from rb1 will be transferable...
- protogenxl, on 07/15/2008, -4/+1well Guitar Hero World Tour fires back with a touch/slide sensor on the guitar and Joe ***** Walsh.
- dangerdooms, on 07/14/2008, -12/+5I thought you can make your own music in Guitar Hero World Tour, will RB2 have that...?
- elfuego, on 07/14/2008, -6/+195All right, this clinches it: Rock Band truly is the new karaoke. We're finally getting enough songs all in one place that you can have a sufficiently big collection for people to play from.
I, for one, welcome our new Harmonix overlords.- nerdherder, on 07/14/2008, -0/+11Rock band will definitly make Guitar Hero have to try a whole hell of a lot harder.
On a side note. Please Kotaku for the love of god please stop using the phrase "after the jump" or any phrase pertaining to any kind of "jump." One more time and my head will asplode.- MasterGrief, on 07/14/2008, -3/+2Just about every blog I've seen uses it. I understand a dislike for vaguely nonsensical phrases, but "after the jump" is simply a way of saying "after you click the link".
- Syphon8, on 07/14/2008, -3/+1Have you seen Guitar Hero 4? They're making Rock Band try a lot harder.
- nerdherder, on 07/14/2008, -0/+11@MasterGrief
Yes I understand that but you are forgetting a key detail. THERE IS NO ***** LINK. - completerobot, on 07/15/2008, -1/+3http://kotaku.com/index.php?refId=5025004
On the Kotaku front page, there IS a link that you DO need to click on to read the full story. "after the jump" is still an obnoxious phrase, but think a little bit before you get all up in arms over it. - British0zzy, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1@nerdherder
Some of us use RSS feeds and the whole article isn't included in the RSS preview for obvious reasons. - nerdherder, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Damnit get out of here with your logical reasoning.
- futebollounge, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5they need to make a new game with just rowdy indie dance music like art brut, arctic monkeys, pigeon detectives, bloc party, the rifles, the rakes.... you know what i mean!? the dance rock is what i seek!!!
- Twenty, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1They need more black metal.
Also double kick please :D I mean, with Dream Theater and Testament on that bill...
- Twenty, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1They need more black metal.
- DrGFreeman, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Whoa! Haven't heard that one in a while!
But, in all seriousness, I agree that all our base are belong to them.
- nerdherder, on 07/14/2008, -0/+11Rock band will definitly make Guitar Hero have to try a whole hell of a lot harder.
- Shawkab, on 07/14/2008, -4/+22Go Rockband! I love the backwards compatibility.. By far the best thing about Rock Band 2... Though I hope they come out with a standalone disc of the game cause I don't need a new guitar.
- Omadhaun, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6They have stand-alone copies of Rock Band 1, you know.
- Mullinsmcd, on 07/14/2008, -1/+2I think you mean Forwards Compatible, and yes I think its already announced that there will be a standalone disc. Im pretty sure that Harmonix will have a much better launch then last year. Cant wait.
- NinjaBoy, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Man i need new everything. Every single part of my Rockband set has failed. And i took good care of them. Most parts broke when i wasn't even using it. For instance my whammy bar just snapped while i was moving the guitar.
- DBz0, on 07/14/2008, -0/+0Getting the new guitar anyway because they said it'll be actual life-size (!)
- FlyinWhee, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Not exactly. There will be SPECIAL EDITION Guitars that will be lifesize, if you care for that. Expect it to be expensive too.
- fusionFactor, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3New guitar, no. But did you check out that drum kit?!
http://kotaku.com/5024520/first-look-at-rock-band- ...- Ryosen, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I just wet myself
- pilot3033, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1*premium drum kit
That's gonna set you back another $300.
You're almost better off getting an actual electric drum kit. - Mystlyfe, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Except electronic sets are typically in the $500+ range (up to thousands)
- Swordman554, on 07/14/2008, -15/+6Epic track list is epic.
- sketcher67, on 07/14/2008, -4/+2No, Epic was in the first Rock Band!
- KyjL, on 07/14/2008, -1/+2STOP USING EPIC FOR ANYTHING THAT'S REMOTELY GOOD
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=epic&x=0& ... - fpaudon, on 07/14/2008, -2/+3What are you talking about? I don't see Muse anywhere on the track list
- tidu, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1well, the Hysteria DLC will carry over.
- TheDeepFriar, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3Isn't that a given? (that something epic is epic)
- tidu, on 07/14/2008, -2/+1you have a lot to learn, my friend.
- Omadhaun, on 07/14/2008, -12/+6This game is going to be fantastic! 500 songs for the Rock Band series by end of 2008?!? Awesome! And that new Ion drum kit for Rock Band 2 with the new design 3 cymbals?!? I'm surprised Guitar Hero doesn't just throw in the towel.
- DaHuuuuuudge, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5The ion drum kit is not the normal Rock Band 2 drum kit, nor does the game normally have three cymbals. The normal drum kit will not have cymbals.
- Andrwmorph, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5The Ion drum kit is 300 dollars.
- Caleb83, on 07/14/2008, -12/+2Dugg, but here is the original link http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63 ...
- Caleb83, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3oh no, I've offended the kotakus. They are the new 5min. WTG, guys!
- FLYBOY611, on 07/14/2008, -18/+16My friend brought his Rock Band kit to my College dorm floor the day it came out. We had the ENTIRE floor singing "When you were young" at 2:00 AM. It was unbelievably awesome.
- insinuate, on 07/14/2008, -2/+13What a ***** song to have the entire floor singing.
- kakwakas, on 07/14/2008, -3/+2Your entire floor has bad taste.
- oxymoron69, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2By 3:45am the strummer on the guitar was broken.
4:05am jimmy the pothead breaks the bass pedal with his mighty boot.
Ahhhh the plastic instruments, good thing they have a liberal RMA policy.
- xerograde, on 07/14/2008, -12/+6AC/DC + Bob Dylan = Best. Track list. EVER!
- foolosophy, on 07/14/2008, -6/+8584 On-Disc Songs + 20 Free DLC Songs + ~58 songs from RB 1 = ~162 Songs not including DLC you already have!
- preppypoof, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7why are people digging you down? everything you say is true and awesome...
- CapeKid, on 07/14/2008, -3/+6+2 free dlc already released.
The cake isn't a lie :-P - BlueSkyfish, on 07/14/2008, -14/+1I'm downloading them all for Frets On Fire right now.
- DragonForce4, on 07/14/2008, -7/+73Dream Theater ***** yeah
- retoriplastique, on 07/14/2008, -2/+11I was going to post exactly the same comment, word by word...
Well, justice has been served, but "Panic Attack"? They could have chosen something from the early 90's, or even better, something from Scenes From A Memory.- AndrewJC, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6My guess is that it's the shortest song from the most recent couple of albums that they could put in. I'm also guessing that the keyboard solo is edited out.
Personally, I would prefer to see something like Overture 1928 or a classic song like Metropolis (man, would THAT kick ass in RB). Or you could go the total crazy route and go with something like Lie, but you'd pretty much have to guarantee that the drummer would have to buy a second kick pedal for that. :) - Andrwmorph, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2When there is a long keyboard solo they sometimes map it to the guitar (The Collector by NiN did that).
- AdmiralAcbar, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Dance of Eternity would kick ass. Seriously. I'd love to see them try to map that to four drum pads.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2SFAM was their best album I thought. I think it'd even be cool to see something from Images and Words or Awake since those are the two albums they're probably most famous for. Metropolis pt. 1 or Under a Glass Moon would be ***** impossible.
Also, I'm glad to see they finally left off those wankers in Dragon Force. Those ***** can't even play their OWN music live. - ronaldinho, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I was hoping for "Pull Me Under". Or a lesser-known one in "6 O'Clock". Or a newer one like "The Dark Eternal Night" and "Forsaken".
- AndrewJC, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6My guess is that it's the shortest song from the most recent couple of albums that they could put in. I'm also guessing that the keyboard solo is edited out.
- masterkenobi, on 07/14/2008, -1/+7Regardless, that song is going to be a beast to play. I mean, we will only have one kick pedal right?
- MuskokasFinest, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Exactly what I was thinking.
Double-bass please?
- MuskokasFinest, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Exactly what I was thinking.
- Mikhail101, on 07/14/2008, -2/+2But why oh why panic attack, Instrumedley? Octavarium? Erotomania? there are way better songs
- locriology, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Panic Attack is a good choice. One of my favorites off Octavarium.
I'd have gone with This Dying Soul for a complete pain-in-the-ass song. Fatal Tragedy, Home, Glass Prison, A Change of Seasons, and/or Constant Motion would have been good choices as well.- squarepegs, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1A Change of Seasons would probably take up too much disk space. Home and Glass Prison wouldn't be bad. I'd take Beyond This Life or Lie. Panic Attack is a pretty awesome song, but with that on the list, I've no hope of ever finishing the game.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Octavarium was probably DT's worst album.
- Nappuccino, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1Even worse than Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence?
I personally think not. - connorwilson, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1One of DT's huge strong points is to be able to spin these immersive stories. Disc 2 of 6D is an example, and so is the song Octavarium (although the themes tie in with the rest of the record) so from there it's a matter of opinion on which has the better filler songs ;)
- masterkenobi, on 07/14/2008, -0/+8Mike Portnoy in the studio playing "Panic Attack":

So, how many pieces does the RB2 drum kit come with? :S - 8300dvo, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2stream of con of course! thats what we need!
image playing that solo!!!
or octavarium (the song), would last for ever, would be fun :) - connorwilson, on 07/15/2008, -1/+0I'm happy Dream Theater gets the recognition, but of all songs I'm glad they picked Panic Attack. I'm not too huge on the song (Octavarium was Octavarium plus filler), but this will prevent "the masses" from putting the Dragonforce effect on a great band.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2*rant mode*
I think Dragonforce put the "Dragonforce" effect on themselves. They're pretty much a complete joke who rely completely on studio editing for their technique. Check out any live footage of them playing in concert - they can't even reproduce their own absurd studio recordings accurately like Dream Theater can. - connorwilson, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1I know that. I mean, everyone who has heard more than TTFAF in Guitar Hero can clue into that one. So they're ***** live, but they've just become so cliche. Dragonforce is now defined by that one song because it's so hard to play on GH, but in reality every single on of their songs is the same. Panic Attack, to me, just isn't a good enough tune for people to get into it like that.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2*rant mode*
- retoriplastique, on 07/14/2008, -2/+11I was going to post exactly the same comment, word by word...
- elfuego, on 07/14/2008, -10/+5After further thought, it's an amazing list, but a lack of Skynyrd taints it slightly. Sweet Home Alabama or Free Bird would make this untoppable. As it is it's just really really good.
- pryoee4, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2I actually like it. You won't have that annoying idiot that yells "Free Bird" before / during / after every song that is played.
- BurningSand, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1So true, so true. Don't forget the high-fives!
- bjs3171, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2sweet home alabama would be major fun on guitar
- MasterGrief, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I think this list is great, and I realize they can't please everyone, but I really do want some more freakin Skynyrd.
- Andrwmorph, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Some Skynyrd that isn't boringly easy
- pryoee4, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2I actually like it. You won't have that annoying idiot that yells "Free Bird" before / during / after every song that is played.
- Quicksilver4648, on 07/14/2008, -5/+12With previous DLC and Rock Band 1 songs working in Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero has to really get serious if they want to complete.
- GTkitkats, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3After Guitar Hero was turned to Activision, it has been crashing down
- Elliottx, on 07/14/2008, -29/+4BREAKING: Rock Band & Gutiar Hero are both.....wait for it.......waaaaaaaait....................................waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiit forrrrrrrrrrrrrr it........
OK games.- Baronvontito1, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Have you checked your pulse? You have to be dead to not have fun while playing Rock Band.
- Elliottx, on 07/14/2008, -3/+1Not a fan of either one, sure I'll "Give it a go" or play it casually for a laugh with friends. But there's no way in hell I'm gonna memorize psycho billy freakout of hard mode like my brother has. (Srsly, i'm not just ripping of Yahtzee here...)
- BackEnThaWomb, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Good, because if you were...you suck at it.
- Muncher, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6Thank you for conveying your uninteresting opinion in the most obnoxious way possible.

- cesclaveria, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2yeah, that made forget all about GH and order Rock Band right now (I was still deciding between GH and RB)
- MRintheKeys, on 07/14/2008, -0/+0Damn it, I was hoping for some "For Those About to Rock" complete with cannon fire. I will gladly take me some "Let There Be Rock" though.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 07/15/2008, -4/+1*Sigh*. I don't like them.
- Y2Krieger, on 07/14/2008, -14/+20Fleetwood Mac, FTW!

- Crosshare, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2Mom, is that you?
- Sairgem, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Wow.. didn't even notice that. One more reason I'm gonna buy RB2 on release day.
- Pillage, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1I would have rather they put The Chain on it
- crazydoglady1, on 07/14/2008, -2/+3I can't wait!!!!!!
- Vikaas, on 07/14/2008, -12/+41Finally, some System of a Down. I cannot wait to play Chop Suey.
On reflection though, that's kind of strange since i can play it on the actual guitar.- SirFragsMore, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2AMEN!
- Tycal, on 07/15/2008, -0/+15umm...so can anyone sing Chop Suey?
- TheInimitable, on 07/15/2008, -0/+8NBGERBNUIGENIOER WAKE UP. HGIEHGIOEIOPWEG MAKE UP. I think there may be an extra syllable or two in there I did not account for.

- AlucardZero, on 07/15/2008, -3/+0I realize ComeOutSwingin is joking, but why is it thumbed up? Whose going to be MAKING those songs?
- TheInimitable, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4You said you realized he was joking. WERE YOU LYING?
- styx31989, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I've been wanting to drum that song for SO long!
- steger, on 07/14/2008, -2/+4I bet e-pro was easy to get after so watcha want was added.
- Baronvontito1, on 07/14/2008, -3/+8Oh my god. Painkiller. Thank you Harmonix.
- hedgiemaster, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1My words exactly.
- oblique63, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I really hope the release the rest of the album as DLC, that is probably my favorite priest album (even though they all kick ass)...
- Baronvontito1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Agreed. I love that album. The guitar solos in every song would destroy some fingers. Can you imagine Metal Meltdown? Metalgasm.
- serif69, on 07/14/2008, -2/+9018. Disturbed “Down with the Sickness” 2000’s
How are they going to transcribe the giant screaming therapy session in the middle?- Scrappy1850, on 07/14/2008, -1/+13word for word?
- scheibs14, on 07/14/2008, -0/+37Maybe go with the radio version that cuts it out? But they say all of the songs are master recordings so who knows. Then again, it's rated T for Teen so lyrics such as "You stupid sadistic abusive ***** whore" might not make the cut
- Flea08, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4yeah, the radio cut would still be considered a master track, as it is the band rather than a cover. It would be pretty hardcore if it was left in though.
- brett1337, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3toss ***** in there and u pretty much got the gist of the song
- Lith25, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2The song just isn't the same without that middle screaming. It's like it gets right to the spot, and the music is building for something tense, and then it just stops.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Whoah.... ALL the tracks are master recordings? So they got access to the original master recording of Thick as a Brick from Jethro Tull?! AWESOME!
- serif69, on 07/14/2008, -1/+30In defense of my own comment, I would like to say oooh wah ah ah ah. Awk awk. Awk awk.
- Groggie, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5Probably just use the radio edit version.
- sig331, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Freestyle opportunity?
- rivethaus, on 07/14/2008, -0/+15Wish it was the Richard Cheese cover from Dawn of the Dead
- serif69, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2It is if you sing it that way.
- mlbwebdesign, on 07/14/2008, -0/+0At least you won't have to play the damn tamberine!!#@$#@
- japanesepagoda, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1They're going to get rid of it in it's entirety, just like the radio, like the guy above me said.
- NathanCH, on 07/14/2008, -16/+11NO OASIS?
SYSTEM OF A DOWN?! :D- Sairynn, on 07/14/2008, -1/+25Plenty of Oasis up for download already, although I wish they'd put up Champagne Supernova.
- NathanCH, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1Yeah, they left out some of their best.
- JordanE, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Oasis Pack
* "Don't Look Back in Anger"

Great tracks still available. Champagne Supernova or Rock 'n' Roll Star would've been great additions :D
- Ex3poo, on 07/14/2008, -3/+9SYSTEM OF A DOWN!!!!!
- soupnrc, on 07/14/2008, -4/+4As I read your comment, I was listening to Oasis...
- dsmx, on 07/14/2008, -1/+13I think the lack of queen is a greater travesty.
- soupnrc, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1Agreed
- MrFisty, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Personally I'd rather wait for the real Beatles.

- bjs3171, on 07/14/2008, -2/+82dude. STOP SAYING BREAKING. Unless they are actually having a press release and slowly reading off a list of songs, this is not "BREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
- diggduggDOOM, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Breaking is broke.
- quomen, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1He's talking about Digg.
- mrfizzle, on 07/15/2008, -0/+0it should be BROKEN!!!!!!!. The entire story already happened
- scrumtrallecent, on 07/14/2008, -4/+58"BREAKING"? Really?...........Really? This is news we couldn't have gotten fast enough?
- thedragon4453, on 07/14/2008, -0/+9I have been sitting here, for days, waiting for news of the Rock Band 2 track list. The phone rings, and I hope that on the other end, someone will bring word from Harmonix about what tasty riffs, and mind melting rhythm I'll get to experience. A knock at the door, my heart starts, and I pray that someone will be coming to tell me what lyrics made the cut, and which were edited for vulgarity.
I woke this morning, hoping that this joyous news would arrive, and lo, my hope was rewarded. I was overjoyed that someone rushed this info to my Digg front page. I finally feel that I might rest easy, safe in my knowledge of RB2 track names.
But what downloadable content do you think they'll have? - Spaceboy492, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1It's breaking because the list has been out for a week!
Oh wait...

- Meursault, on 07/14/2008, -5/+3Wish they'd picked a better Replacements track.
- mnemy, on 07/14/2008, -12/+6I could have done without SoD and Linkin Park... but at least they finally got Down with the Sickness on there. And some AC/DC. Bout damned time.
- fejai, on 07/15/2008, -1/+2There is no such thing as a good time for 'Down with the Sickness'.
- thedogfatherx, on 07/14/2008, -8/+2How do all these stupid titles get dugg and put on the front page daily? Who are these people? Who?
- username9000, on 07/14/2008, -13/+2RB2 is a 360 exclusive as well. timed or not, i don't know, but the Harmonix dude said exclusive to the 360.
- Mullinsmcd, on 07/14/2008, -2/+2Exclusive launch window. Do a google search before posting next time. It will save you from the digg down that youre getting right now.
- username9000, on 07/14/2008, -1/+1like i care if i get dugg down. lol I watched the press conference. the dude said exclusive. timed? fine, i stand corrected.

- frostyausty, on 07/14/2008, -12/+70Well its a nice list.. but.. Panic at the disco? were they drunk?
- DuxBelorum, on 07/14/2008, -20/+16I happen to like Panic at the Disco. Just because you don't doesn't make it a bad choice.
- tidu, on 07/14/2008, -7/+14yes... yes it does.
- DuxBelorum, on 07/14/2008, -2/+17Oh I'm sorry. You're completely right. Why should they ever add a variety of songs that someone else may enjoy even if you don't? I vote we try to get it removed so someone such as myself is unable to play a song he or she likes because you don't like it.
- locriology, on 07/14/2008, -3/+10Actually, what they should be doing is picking songs with good instrumentals that are fun to play, rather than songs that kids can see and say "OMG I LOVE THIS SONG MOM BUY ME THIS GAME!"
Panic at the Disco does not have good instrumentals. - DuxBelorum, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5At locriology,
That is a very valid point and I agree. For that reason I could see why music such as PATD would not be included. - LightUrple, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1I think the song they picked will be fun to play, personally. It's not like panic at the disco's earlier stuff. Their newest album is a lot more 'folksy' than their first (which is easy to do since that's not at all the style of their first album).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCto3PCn8wo - Brad324, on 07/15/2008, -2/+2buried for liking Panic at the Disco.
- yohnstoppable, on 07/14/2008, -4/+18Emo kids' parents have money as well. Maybe they'll add in razor blades, or a little sister's jeans instrument.
- efitz11, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1digg... up... faster....
- fudged71, on 07/14/2008, -5/+4for the teenage girls/gays
- Chocobot, on 07/15/2008, -6/+1Word. This whole tracklist is disappointing, to be honest. The DLC for this game better kick ass.
- mazonrowes777, on 07/15/2008, -3/+2Well I guess this isnt as bad as Fall Out Boy in RB1, but only by a small margin.
- GTkitkats, on 07/15/2008, -3/+1I don't know why teenagers are so interested in mediocre music.
Oh well, we'll just let those confused kids get high, have neverending parties, and maybe use some razor blades to bring out the emo in them. - YuriSakazaki, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4It's the single off their new album, which is the polar opposite of emo. It's closer to 60s Britpop (Beatles style) than anything else. Completely different sound.
- DuxBelorum, on 07/14/2008, -20/+16I happen to like Panic at the Disco. Just because you don't doesn't make it a bad choice.
- Cyrock, on 07/14/2008, -4/+30Doesn't BREAKING news generally apply to a story or event that is still unfolding? If we have the entire track list then there is nothing else to report on the topic.
- peterjmag, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2BROKEN!!!!!
- moonasha, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1the only thing you've BROKEN is my heart
- CosmoKramer, on 07/14/2008, -9/+9Not a single song I can death metal growl to. I'm disappointed.
Give me some Suffocation.- Remmiz, on 07/14/2008, -4/+3Wrong game, sorry.
- TheHeat, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5I agree with Cosmo, 84 songs not one could be of the non-traditional metal genre. Even if it was "popular" death metal like Black Dahlia Murder or something, as hidden tracks, diversity and variety rule.
- CapeKid, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5Download the trash metal pack, problem solved.
- oblique63, on 07/14/2008, -4/+4seriously, metallica and megadeth are good and all, but when are we gonna see a game with At The Gates, Kataklysm, Arsis, Death, Quo Vadis, Darkthrone, Hypocrisy, Nightrage, Rotting Christ, etc.?
- otros, on 07/14/2008, -3/+4When they're are fun to play.

- PhoenixAvatar2, on 07/14/2008, -3/+3I'm just happy that I'll be able to finish the game instead of getting stuck at the end with songs that are super hard to play and that I don't even want to play.
- Remmiz, on 07/14/2008, -4/+3Wrong game, sorry.
- Conwaysb0718, on 07/14/2008, -0/+10What happened to everyone being pissed at Viacom? Is that so last week or what?
- djHBRD, on 07/14/2008, -6/+25Who are the five greatest folk rock musicians alive?
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and... Dylan.- Narcism, on 07/14/2008, -2/+11Well, when I saw him in concert, I wouldn't particularly consider him to be "alive"
- TheAbsintheHare, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1Woah, you're too close man. I spit hot fiyah!
- SpectralSounds, on 07/14/2008, -1/+2I saw him in concert back in the late 90's at Michigan State fairgrounds (if you were as big as Dylan and you are now playing fairs, it's time to call it quits) and I was embarassed for him. He needed to retire a loooong time ago.
- pilot3033, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Spectral:
He then went on to play (and sell out) the Staples Center in LA, the Madison Square Garden (Arena and Theatre), and several other large venues, on top of releasing 2 more albums with his most recent going platinum and reaching #1 on the charts (since the late 90s).
Yeah, the guy really just needs to fade away right?
- PixelD, on 07/14/2008, -1/+12He spits hot fire!

- completerobot, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3I'd really like some of their older stuff. Tribute or Wonderboy would be great.
- Abatrour, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Master Exploder is going to be a hard song considering that when I saw the D in Vancouver, they just played the cd version of the song instead of doing it "live".
- IronPwnage, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1WOOSH
- shondell, on 07/14/2008, -20/+4Tenacious D is just plain horrible
- danielsan79, on 07/14/2008, -4/+3As good as the track list is, the guitar is still atrocious and boring.
- completerobot, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I don't think something can really be both atrocious and boring.
- doshindude, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1have you played the game or something? seriously, think before you post something retarded.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2You fail at trolling.
- ManImAwesome, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1I dugg you up. I'm always stuck playing guitar when me and my friends get together and challenge is usually very fall off. No one wants to play the hard songs with me! GG&HT is too long...thrash pack is too hard to drum, Metallica is not fun enough to sing...
The plastic-rock explosion started on the guitar...you'd think they'd make it atleast a little challenging.
- Narcism, on 07/14/2008, -2/+3Well I have my work cut out for me.. I'm always the singer, and I'm.. pleased.
- Brad324, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1well you're going to have fun trying to sing Chop Suey...
Though I personally can't wait to do the "wa-ah-ah-ah!" noise from "down with the sickness"

- ExileOnMassSt, on 07/14/2008, -2/+78The problem is, it's cursed now. It's now connected to Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy album, so it won't be out until 2024.
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5I heard Chinese Democracy is going to be used as the soundtrack for Duke Nukem Forever.
- PunkRampant, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1That would kick so much ass.

- bknoll22, on 07/14/2008, -1/+15Did anybody else click on the drum kit link on the bottom.
upside: it looks awesome
downside: its $300
looks like I will be using the generic drum set- Grimulus, on 07/15/2008, -0/+7Well it's kinda nice because it's made by an actual drum manufacturer, Alesis.
I read that they enabled the kit to be able to be hooked up to one of their real drum modulators and you can have an actual set, thought you would be missing a hi-hat pedal.
It's great if you actually want to learn to play the drums.- GTkitkats, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I think the electric will be a GREAT investment.
RB has motivated me to learn drums but I can't so it's going to be awesome! - Grimulus, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1I think that actual drummers can see that. I am so I realize how cool the idea really is. RB has gotten one of my friends really into drumming and after I gave him some tips he can beat me easily at RB. He's excited about the opportunity to have a drum kit that can be considered a real kit for a minimal space/noise sensitive environment.
- GTkitkats, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I think the electric will be a GREAT investment.

- diggtochina, on 07/14/2008, -7/+5Oh come on! haven't we all heard Alanis Morissette “You Oughta Know" enough ?? god i hate that song
- Mattso, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5I really don't have a choice but to buy this game now. I was excited when the supposed leak came out and it listed "Black", but I still love "Alive". I'm just happy they gave us Pearl Jam and I'm hoping the DLC will bring more... for free maybe! That free DLC thing is really a major bonus, provided that we get some good songs.
The problem is... that ion drum set = $300 I will be now be parting with.- sfrench, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1Black itself is slow and wouldn't be that fun to play, but if they put in one of the 5 minute live solos, then I'd give it a very enthusiastic thumbs up. I'm kinda hoping for a full Vs. DLC
- alarmist, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1that would be amazing

- wazzu07, on 07/14/2008, -2/+11girl's NOT grey.
fired!- LightUrple, on 07/15/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I noticed that too. Seems to be on the actual press release. I can't believe they released the "official" track list with a mistake like that.
- gogog0, on 07/14/2008, -9/+4honestly, the guitar hero world tour soundtrack is looking better
- cmgriffi, on 07/15/2008, -6/+1yup, you are dead on here. Guitar Hero is looking A LOT better. You can even record your own songs!!
- gogog0, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2umm im just talking about the soundtrack, rock band gameplay will probably be better, i was really let down by guitar hero 3
- GTkitkats, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1You're kinda low on your music spectrum, I guess?
- BestJaxx, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1...I don't know what you've been smoking. Activion hasn't officially announced any songs yet.
- itscodyxx, on 07/14/2008, -1/+22Sonic Youth! Dinosaur Jr! Nice.
- handheldchimp, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4Oh. My. God. I have been modding GH3 for the PC and trying to get Master Exploder to work, however, all of the custom versions are..."meh".
I will be buying this just for Master Exploder. - postminimalist, on 07/14/2008, -6/+38Needs more Radiohead.
- punjab551, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1I'm actually kinda glad they didn't add Radiohead. Creep is one thing, but if they started adding any others it would kind of destroy the meaning of the original songs. Pretty much every album post-Pablo Honey has to work as a whole, and can't be split up for games like these.
- bjarkebech, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I think i can agree with you on that, although some OKC tracks would be fun in Rock Band. Not so much for Kid A + Amnesiac though
- skyshock1, on 07/15/2008, -5/+1I think you missed the point. This is Rock Band. ROCK band. _*ROCK*_ band. See? Rock. It's right there in the name of the title.
No band has ever Rocked less than Radiohead.

- snowysnowcones, on 07/14/2008, -3/+63It's a shame there's no Queen.
- Nidy1, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4There's never any Queen :(
- completerobot, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Guitar Hero I
- fightforyou, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1one of those american idol games...
- yohnstoppable, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7Ya no *****. bohemian rhapsody is a no brainer for rock band. Would be an easy way to get people who hate singing to actually pick up the mic
- fudged71, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2I WANT TO BREAK FREE
- thelock65, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4Bands I've always wanted to play:
Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
Phish
oh well... - BestJaxx, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2I read as I'm listening to One Vision. I really want to see Under Pressure in GH or RB.
- Nidy1, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4There's never any Queen :(
- Ellipsys, on 07/14/2008, -7/+2Now that the "western" music game scene has exploded, and Rockband seems to be leading the charge, when will they head back East? How about some DLC packs of Japanese music. There is at least a decade and a half of rock that would be perfect for a game like this - (X, L'arc en Ciel, Porno Graffiti, The Pillows, Luna Sea , The Brilliant Green, Garnet Crow- just to name a few bands. Not counting Gackt and Visual Kei bands...if you want to head that way). The first game to put forth some international rock will have my vote.
- kelsosmythe, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5Yer cultured... We don't like your kind around these here parts.
- BobTheChainsaw, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3Yeah, if they put that in, western gamers would just be like "What the ***** is this?" and never play that song, ever.
- Ellipsys, on 07/14/2008, -1/+2Some might. Just how I will probably avoid any System of a Down or Disturbed songs (or any other post-alterna-nu-metal-pseudo rock) However, there will be others who would enjoy playing some international songs, not to mention the greater sales in Asia. Make it several DLC packs - a few of them free to whet new fans appetites and encourage them to purchase large packs if they like what they hear/play.
- Mistoffelees, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4A lot of J-Rock is extremely catchy and due to it's (often) complex arrangements, would lend itself extremely well for this purpose.
I agree that it would be a good move to incorporate some Asian tracks in there. - twistedlogic149, on 07/15/2008, -2/+1In this comment:
pretentiousness
- xGeneric, on 07/14/2008, -13/+22BEAKING? Oh my god, Digg, you ***** awesome news site. I'm so glad we got BREAKING news on Rock Band 2. I don't know how I could go on without knowing this stuff.
- yohnstoppable, on 07/14/2008, -0/+9Something isn't right here. I feel as though I'm detecting something... *sniffs the air* Ah yes *sniff*, it's sarcasm. I stake my entire reputation as a 25 year old man who fantasizes about 15 year old girls on it.
- krismanx, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5Is it really necessary to be the third person to say this?
- hilo4321, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3actually, it probably is, due to the ***** around here
nonetheless i dugg you up
- hilo4321, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3actually, it probably is, due to the ***** around here
- otero1, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1--DUGG--
Digg is nothing more than bury brigades burying the important REAL issues...and digging the fluff news. Yeah I get excited about the new video games coming out... but with the dollar imploding, WWIII coming, and the NWO ruling the world. We have quite a few REAL ***** issues that just aren't talked about. It's really sad.
