Assassin's Creed on the PS3 is Freezing
forums.ubi.com — This problem plagues my game too. You would think that a game that has been in development for 4 or 5 years wouldn't have a massive bug like this. I dont own a 360, but so far i have heard it freezes on it also. Jade Raymond, we are disappointed, but you are still hot.

- ojk007, on 11/18/2007, -33/+66After playing this on the 360 and then the PS3, i can safely say the 360 is smoother and not laggy at all. Whilst the PS3 didnt crash there were noticable amounts of lag.
Having said that I don't think its the consoles fault per se.- AvidPreatorian, on 11/18/2007, -4/+28You're right, the problem occurs on both systems unfortunately. I'm betting it was the rush to get this game out that's causing such bad experiences. It is a shame because I love this game but after significant loading times this game has, a freeze just makes you turn off the console and play/do something else. I'm not sure if it's possible with console games but a patch or maybe even an updated version of the game for the current buyers would be a godsend and would not deter me from purchasing Ubisoft game in the future.
- wentwj, on 11/18/2007, -3/+14I got it on the XB360 (own both a PS3 and an XB360), and can say my version 100% flawless. My loading times were all very short (don't know times but I never once thought it was taking a large amount of time), and never had a freeze.
It's a great game, if you own either console I'd recommend it.- AvidPreatorian, on 11/18/2007, -6/+6Don't get me wrong, I beat the entire game without a single freeze but after that the problems showed up. So it might take a bit but it's gonna happen. The loading times were longer than I'd like and they were identical to yours because, well, we have the same hardware. I also have a 200gb hard drive in the PS3 running at 7200rpm which is 1/3 faster than stock and still think the loading is too much. Just wait mate, just wait.
- Microdot, on 11/18/2007, -24/+10wild. ive been playing since release day about 4-5 hours per night.... i havent had a single issue.
and man... id like to know what type of crack they were smoking on the lag issues. they are non-existant on my ps3. my sons 360 however, they are horrendous. maybe someone confused the consoles... i have had zero issues with the ps3, and nothing but problems with the 360.- asskey, on 11/18/2007, -7/+17You bought the game for both systems? wtf
- eclipxe, on 11/18/2007, -13/+6He has a PS3 and his son has a 360. One copy for his son on 360, one for him on PS3. Doesn't seem like a WTF to me?

- asskey, on 11/18/2007, -7/+17You bought the game for both systems? wtf
- thebaron2, on 11/18/2007, -1/+3My 360 version has been fine as well. I've only put in about 6 hours, though, so I can't say if the issue will occur after being on for a prolonged period of time.
- Shakermaker, on 11/18/2007, -6/+7The problem isn't with both consoles. My Xbox360 copy is fine.....no freezing at all.
- craterburnsu, on 11/19/2007, -6/+5Because what you experience has to be 100% for everyone else.
/sarcasm for the morons out there. - Lythium, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1My hubby and I are both sinking hours into the game (360 version); his game froze once during a load screen about an hour into the game, and that's about it. Once in a great while the frame rate briefly drops during a fight, making my heart skip a beat in the "omg you bastard, don't you dare freeze NOW" way, but it's never actually frozen for me.
Verdict: on the 360 it happens, but not often enough to make such a huge deal out of it. - Lythium, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1WTB "delete" option....
- craterburnsu, on 11/19/2007, -6/+5Because what you experience has to be 100% for everyone else.
- zeroEDGE, on 11/18/2007, -3/+7I have the 360 version and I too, experience a decent amount of lag and it has frozen at least twice already for me. What makes it worst is that it happened early in the game so I'm probably going to be experiencing this some more in the future. I'm kind of relieved that I'm not the only one with this problem as I thought my 360 was going to crap out on me.
- zeroEDGE, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Oh and I forgot to mention (sorry, too late to edit lol), Assassin's Creed has been the only game that's frozen on me so far.
- wentwj, on 11/18/2007, -3/+14I got it on the XB360 (own both a PS3 and an XB360), and can say my version 100% flawless. My loading times were all very short (don't know times but I never once thought it was taking a large amount of time), and never had a freeze.
- volacide, on 11/18/2007, -3/+40I don't get it, GameSpot's review said that the PS3 version was "blessed with a slightly more solid frame rate" and then IGN says the exact opposite?
- AvidPreatorian, on 11/18/2007, -3/+13remember, reviews are personal opinions. they might have seem the game from different angles.
- samdu, on 11/18/2007, -1/+5That wouldn't come into play with something as objective as frame rate, though. I think Ubi just pushed this out the door too soon and there are random problems on both consoles.
- volacide, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1Exactly my sentiments. Performance shouldn't be a matter of an opinion, actually, it just plain isn't a matter of opinion.
- samdu, on 11/18/2007, -1/+5That wouldn't come into play with something as objective as frame rate, though. I think Ubi just pushed this out the door too soon and there are random problems on both consoles.
- mesostinky, on 11/18/2007, -9/+7Everyone seems to disagree with them though so I'm inclined to not believe Gamespot. The PS3 is a little bit more powerful than the Xbox so it's pretty clear that they just did a bad port. Plus has anyone seem the side by side comparison at Gametrailers.com? At 20x or 400x, whatever, the Xbos has way more detail that the PS3 version.
- Ndiggnation, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1I thought that separate teams created the game from the ground up for each respective platform. I have the PS3 version, and it does feel somewhat rushed (the freezes, the repetitveness). If the 360 version also has issues it would be pretty plausible to say the game was rushed.

- saladinzero, on 11/18/2007, -4/+13I haven't experienced a single freeze so far, on the 360, and I've played for hours.
- mrbbad, on 11/18/2007, -1/+3Perhaps it is related to certain systems for some fascinating certain reason; I have played it a ton since it came out, so has my brother, we aren't having any issues with freezing or lagging. Not to say there isn't some problem out there, just to note it isn't universal is all.
- HBNDonut, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1Mine has frozen once... but that was after having my 360 switched on for over 9 hours straight which might have had something to do with it.
- Klarth, on 11/18/2007, -11/+34Drop in framerate != lag
- macbookpromat, on 11/19/2007, -4/+4Finally someone who gets it.
Lag = a combination of bad connection, lost packets, bad NAT, distance between hardware, etc.
Drop in framerate = either game is too graphically demanding, or the hardware is having issues. - Trax91, on 11/19/2007, -2/+6lag (plural lags)
1. a gap; an interval created by something not keeping up
2. (UK, slang) a prisoner, a criminal.
3. (Internet) bad connection, loss of connection
Source: http://wikitionary.us/?title=lag&go=Go#Noun
Read No.1 please.- Lythium, on 11/19/2007, -1/+4There is such a thing as industry-specific jargon. The term "organic," for instance, has a very specific meaning in science, and an entirely different meaning in pop culture. Just so with the term "lag" - in gamer/game developer jargon the term has a very specific meaning, as detailed above, which is not the same as the dictionary, everyday definition of the word.
- Cerebral, on 11/19/2007, -1/+2@Lythium
True however I know plenty of people who use the term "lag" for both internet connection or a "lag" in the hardware that is causing framerate drops in non-normal instances where one would "think" they would see framerate drops. Especially in games that use the same maps or you do the same thing repetitively however "this" time your computer/console drops framerates where it had not previously. I think it's perfectly normal to use "lag" in that instance.
- macbookpromat, on 11/19/2007, -4/+4Finally someone who gets it.
- themastersb, on 11/18/2007, -11/+2I don't own an Xbox 360 or a PS3, but I think I'll still buy Jade's game regardless.
- Renton, on 11/18/2007, -3/+4Well you can buy Assassin's Crossing for DS
- Po0py, on 11/18/2007, -0/+6I've been playing the 360 version for a couple of days now and it has only frozen on me just once on the loading screen.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/18/2007, -0/+5I've seen it freeze on 360, in mid play. About 20 secs later it unfroze.
- SharkyTech, on 11/19/2007, -9/+5It is actually possible that its the consoles fault (per se). The blu-ray drive actually has a slower data read speed than DVD.
- craterburnsu, on 11/19/2007, -8/+4And thats why people have reported Xbox 360's freezing as well. Move along troll.
- ChildeRoland420, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1"The blu-ray drive actually has a slower data read speed than DVD"
That is simply not true. If it was then you wouldn't be able to stream HD video from a BluRay. DVD - 1.35 Mb/s at 1x (16.2Mb/s @ 12x). BluRay 36Mb/s @1x (72Mb/s @ 2x).
- EBFoxbat, on 11/19/2007, -0/+4http://i5.tinypic.com/869zb4h.jpg Notice the long arms/neck of the NPCs on the right. The game wasn't totally frozen (*though it did that once earlier*) I was able to pan the camera but that's it.

- BlackMask, on 11/18/2007, -15/+9Just because you don't have a problem doesn't necessarily mean others are not going through it.
I highly believe when you bought your ps3 has got something to do with it. I bought mine on June and it was shipped from a japanese businessman to me in the US in February 2007. So far the only problems I had with it was that Warhawk used to freeze a lot. But later it was eventually found out that it was more of a game/coding issue. I also heard COD4 is bricking a lot of newer ps3s and I have yet to heard from someone who bought his/her console early and is now having problems with COD4.
What I mean is that I strongly believe that some newer ps3s might have hardware design flaws like those of the 360. And by all means, Sony don't really want stuff like this to occur now that sales numbers are slowly improving. Now that Sony still haven't been able to deliver a ground-shattering exclusive for the ps3 (RC and RFOM are exceptions though), we are heavily relying on multiplatforms and we want multiplatform games to run smoothly on the ps3.
Either give us great exclusives and fill the void or help multiplatform game developers deliver flawless games.
And if you can't do either, simply go out of business. I will be happy to go back to PC gaming.- samdu, on 11/18/2007, -5/+1Warhawk freezes (or froze) because there were bugs. I don't know if they've been resolved, but there were there in the beta and I've heard that some of them survived to retail.
- charlescheese, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3I've played countless hours of warhawk, and it's never frozen on me. It's lag free, solid frame-rate, no tearing, and wonderful. I didn't play the beta, but the whole point of the beta is to flush out bugs.
- staticneuron, on 11/19/2007, -0/+2My game of warhawk froze once... I realized it was because my router dropped connection and the game apparently didn't handle it well. Incognito claims to have fixed that issue. It didn't happen often enough for me to get mad.
- BlackMask, on 11/19/2007, -2/+1if you checked out the official playstation forums properly, you should have easily seen that incognito almost released the beta version as retail and stripped the customers, who had been going through sheer game draught at that time, off $60. And yes, sony fanboys will always defend crap no matter how buggy a product is. So let's keep the fanboys out of the discussion.
Speaking of bugs, almost all of them survived. It's a disaster I know, but 6 developers can't really deliver a flawless product in such a short time. Also, single-player campaign was dropped.

- slaystench, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Same goes for me. and I finished the game. I guess I can stop waiting. =p
- MrLazySmurf, on 11/18/2007, -9/+84I own the 360 version. Mine froze 3 hours into the game. I also found a huge glitch, i jumped on a roof from a nearby cliff and i fell right through the level and killed myself.
- Christbait, on 11/18/2007, -16/+7How can a clipping glitch boil down to the console being used?
- MrLazySmurf, on 11/18/2007, -11/+11What the heck are you asking me? I think i know, i was playing the game on and off for three hours. I played about 1 1/2 in the morning, then another 1 1/2 hour that evening when the glitch happened.
I was just saying that i encountered that glitch, it had nothing to do with the amount of time playing the game. But maybe the freezing part did after an hour and a half of gameplay.
Hey don't get me wrong i love the 360, i owned the Wii and 360 and in my opinion the Wii is crap; the PS3 was crap because it had no vibration in the controller, but now that they are getting that back finally after it was so last generation i will probably pick another one up when MGS4 comes out and they drop the price to $250.- cardyology, on 11/18/2007, -17/+2Shut up.

- RandomGuySteve, on 11/18/2007, -7/+2"pick another one up when MGS4 comes out and they drop the price to $250."
Almost agreed with you until this. 250? Go get a job. If you don't care about blu-ray or hi-def graphics, that's one thing. But I'm tired of seeing people who just don't want to pay a lot for them. This is what they costs. Quit complaining about ***** that will never change.- MrLazySmurf, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Screw you. I have a job buddy, i obviously do since i've owned the PS3 back when they were $600 bucks, and a Wii, i'm just making a point that i'm going to be a waiting a long time before i get another PS3. As for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD i could care-less for both of em. I have the ability to download hi-def movies via Live, and my Cable providers, for me theres no point in getting the new formats until there is a winner.
- cardyology, on 11/18/2007, -17/+2Shut up.
- r81984, on 11/18/2007, -9/+2Your Xbox is overheating. You need better ventilation.
- MrLazySmurf, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Better ventilation?? Honestly this is my second system i sent the first one in because the 3 reds, and freezing constantly. I had the box in front of the T.V on cold tile with nothing surrounding it, the slidding door was open allowing a nice cool breeze to come into the house and cool the 360, i hardly don't think it can get any better than that.
I haven't played the game since lastnight when it froze. So ill update later on the results.

- whatthefu, on 11/18/2007, -1/+22My 360 version has frozen once a few hours in, but to be fair my 360 is kind of lame in this respect. It occasionally freezes with other games as well. Still, the game's brand new, no scratches or anything.

- readme, on 11/18/2007, -2/+23Stop with the Jade Raymond stuff already. Patrice Brisebois and a ton of other people had a lot more to do with the same than the pretty figurehead.
- MasterFunk, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1It was Ubisoft mistake in the first place to think that all gamers are sad lonely people who idealize any cute girl who touches the video game industry. - merdiesel, on 11/18/2007, -18/+16What a disappointment this game has been.
- cwilson, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1Really? Because I can't put this game down.
- aristicero, on 11/18/2007, -9/+5It might just be me but I think it's a problem with the PSN, at least on my Ps3. It was freezing on me every once in a while until I signed out of the PSN and turned off the news ticker. I haven't had a problem since and it has been around 3 days.
- r81984, on 11/18/2007, -12/+2Its probably RAM problems. The OS shares the RAM with the games. When PSN is running its probably using more RAM and when the game trys to use it, it crashes the PS3.
That could be why its not crashing on Xbox since the Xbox has dedicated RAM.- ScionX, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8It does crash on the xbox
O_o- Thorlord, on 11/19/2007, -1/+1it has'nt crashed on my 360

- Thorlord, on 11/19/2007, -1/+1it has'nt crashed on my 360
- ScionX, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8It does crash on the xbox
- ScionX, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1While the ticker trick seems to work for some it doesnt for all. I've disabled it & still have it freeze once in awhile. Ubisoft themselves have realized there is a problem and are asking for the people experiencing it to put their firmware into their database to check for trends. While it doesn't happen very often it can get irritatting, I'm still loving the game though.
- Ndiggnation, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1My PS3 is not hooked up to any net connection at the moment, and I've had the game lock up a couple of times while loading, and a couple of times while running around the game world as well. I lost alot of progress at one point because of it.

- chrisutley, on 11/18/2007, -3/+13I blamed Microsoft when my 360 locked up last night, but I guess it was the game. Apparently happens on both platforms.
- santasing, on 11/18/2007, -8/+14I also have the PS3 version. No lag or anything like that. And even the GT trailer was completely bogus. I don't know why there is this persistent effort to keep bringing this story back even when Gamespot gave the PS3 version a higher score than the 360.
- Abno, on 11/18/2007, -1/+13No they didn't, Gamespot gave it 9.0 on both consoles. They did say the PS3 version had a more solid framerate though, while IGN said the opposite.
- selfdisplaced, on 11/18/2007, -6/+3of course IGN said that
- Thorlord, on 11/19/2007, -2/+2they say that because they arent full of crap like Gamespot, Gamespot of whom i trust as much as i trust a dog with rabies.
- BabyWookie, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1GameSpot also said that the 360 version has better lighting.
- selfdisplaced, on 11/18/2007, -6/+3of course IGN said that
- BabyWookie, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1No lag in a single-player game? Imagine that! Seriously, frame rate drops != lag.
- Abno, on 11/18/2007, -1/+13No they didn't, Gamespot gave it 9.0 on both consoles. They did say the PS3 version had a more solid framerate though, while IGN said the opposite.
- Zeush8su, on 11/18/2007, -8/+2The graphics issues could be because the GPU is either getting overloaded and/or overheating.
- johnhummel, on 11/18/2007, -9/+2I've been observing issues dealing with the PS3 after the 2.0 firmware update. If I put in a game and launch it directly afterwards, I've had the PS3 hang - at least once I had to shut it off.
If I wait until the PS3 has a second to check out the game, then it's all good. Personally, I blame these issues on Sony and not Ubisoft - it seems the 2.0 firmware is causing some problems, and there will be a 2.01 firmware soon to fix these. Still, bad Sony! No biscuit! - ArrakisDune, on 11/18/2007, -0/+10I brought it on the 360 and it locked up a few times. Wondered if it was going to go to the 3ROD when it was reset, but it seems fine. Thinking it was the disk I rented the PS3 version so the kid had something to play on until I could send it back. It was his birthday, so didn't want him to not be able to play anything, but similar issues with the game happened on the PS3 too. I just thought we were really unlucky with bad disks (especially as one was a rental).....glad I've seen this now.
The crashing seems to happen once you've been playing the game for a bit (ie. not straight away!)
Not impressed with UBI at the moment. Got one very gutted kid here!- supermanred, on 11/18/2007, -1/+1See my comment below, could be start of 3ROD problem, but dont worry too much they replace it and take care of you just fine. Mine did that before it died. New one plays AC fine without freezing.
- t3hSLR, on 11/18/2007, -6/+2The glitches remind me of hardware issues (overheating) on the PC.
PS3 glitches: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/ ...
Compare to Gears of War overheating on a 7900GT on PC: http://picasaweb.google.com/abd4arraafi/GearsOfWar ...- AvidPreatorian, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3That's not the case here. The game freezes after both long playtimes and after barely turning the game on. I've had many overheating experiences on the PC but this is a graphical/software glitch not a hardware problem. It also happens during certain and specific times which means it's not as random as overheating.
- cawfee, on 11/18/2007, -1/+5Had mine on for 9 hours straight and no freezes. I'm currently in Jerusalem, so I've gotten a bit into the game. Hope I don't bump into this down the road. Is there a patch delivery system available for PS3 games, or will we not see patches for those at all?
- charlescheese, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Yes there is a patch system, but Ubi never patches their games.
- rherbert, on 11/18/2007, -9/+2This is quite possibly due to the 2.0 firmware on the PS3 - 2.01 is coming out shortly, and I wouldn't be surprised if it fixes these issues.
- smackhero, on 11/18/2007, -0/+6how does that explain the problems 360 users are apparently having? from the looks of the comments here i think the firmware bugs and the assassin's creed crashes are 2 different issues.
- Tahiri, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8"how does that explain the problems 360 users are apparently having?"
You didn't know? Sony is to blame for everything. Sony hid a rootkit in 360's firmware- Thorlord, on 11/19/2007, -3/+1as absurd as that sounds, i wouldent be that supprised if it turned out to be true.
some weird code in sony's CD's that if played in a 360 somehow bricks the drive.
- Thorlord, on 11/19/2007, -3/+1as absurd as that sounds, i wouldent be that supprised if it turned out to be true.
- VPurpmalkV, on 11/18/2007, -0/+9While I feel bad that others out there are freezing, I'm glad I don't have the same complaint. I'm replaying through some of it now looking for flags, and trying to catch glitches in conversations (I must have missed more than I thought, I didn't get the 85% achievement). This game is so much better than the reviewers made it out to be. I'm glad I read Gabes semi-review on Penny Arcade, or I would have never touched it. That's what I get for believing reviewers.
- charlescheese, on 11/18/2007, -5/+1It seems like 99% of PS3 users don't have issues with the game. So far it seems to be the Microsoft Viral Marketing team that's having trouble with the PS3 version.

- supermanred, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Your issue might be a overheating xbox. I had mine serviced (didnt cost me a penny for shipping or whatever) so dont worry too much about it. When your xbox finally goes 3 red lights (if it does) microsoft will take care of you. Its 3 year warranty for that is awesome. I waited a week to ship mine back in the box I got, then a week or so later I complained about how long it had been taking (2 weeks) and they just sent me a brand new one with different cooling/hardware.
Im just warning you because my first xbox started freezing on games a few weeks before it died completely. My new replacement one is awesome.

- dansmeek, on 11/18/2007, -1/+5own it on PS3. it has frozen probably about 8 to 10 times. no other game has frozen. i thought it was the FW too... but apparently not. It's also not limited to load screens. It has happened at other times. Basically when a lot of different processes (threads) are running at the asme time (e.g. loading a game, or running away from a bunch of people while being chased with tons of NPC's) it happens.
I'm a more casual gamer, so I don't really care. I like the game, but, it certainly is not game of the year, and the more I play it, the more I want to stop. I'm pretty much just playing it so I can see the ending because I heard some people like it, others hate it.... want to see what it's about.
I'm going to get Uncharted though, so, I'm not sure if I'll play AC anymore after that.
Add UNCHARTED to the list of must-own games to the PS3 from what I heard.- charlescheese, on 11/18/2007, -1/+1You will not regret buying Uncharted. Game of the year. No ifs and or buts about it. Superb gameplay at its finest.

- rusty123jimi, on 11/18/2007, -4/+8Man...I have a PS3, and honestly...its never froze on me one time since launch. But ever since firmware 2.0, I've had my console freeze on me 3 times. Its not the game, its probably Sony's new firmware, which will be patched up really soon!
- supermanred, on 11/18/2007, -17/+3Assassin's Creed plays fine on the 360, no freezing at all. I was at a local EB Games here in Toronto and they had it playing on a PS3, and I notice the framerate is real ***** on the PS3. I asked if it was a pre-release in-store disc they were showcasing, but it wasn't. They put Creed into the 360 and you could see the difference right away. I am glad I picked up a 360 first... I don't think I will buy a PS3 until its in the bargain bin, much like I did with the PS2.
Anyways, Im sure Sony will patch it to stop freezing, but the framerate issue is probably due to the PS3's hardware flaws (memory, video card etc). Too bad Sony designed this thing to be a great computational device, but forgot about the whole video, framerate etc.
Wish you PS3 players the best... its a great game.- rusty123jimi, on 11/18/2007, -2/+9Try and flip your statement around "hardware flaws (memory, video card etc). " Because of the 360, many PS3 games are really limited to what they do, and because the architecture is different, games usually end up worse on PS3. Look at Uncharted, do you think it would as nice as it did if they ported it over from the 360...probably not cause the 360 is the limiting factor this generation! Sry to bring you of your high horse!
- dansmeek, on 11/18/2007, -2/+7this is correct. but you will probably get dugg down by 360 fanboys. furthermore, developers are learning the ps3 architecture more and more. 2nd generation ports will be a lot better (hopefully) than 1st generation. They may actually take advantage of the PS3 hardware. Cuz as of now, they seem to be porting just to the PPC and have little, or nothing running on the PPU's.
It's pretty amazing in my opinion, that games still look good on the PS3 at all, even though they are so half assed. They are technically only using 1/8th of the system.
- dansmeek, on 11/18/2007, -2/+7this is correct. but you will probably get dugg down by 360 fanboys. furthermore, developers are learning the ps3 architecture more and more. 2nd generation ports will be a lot better (hopefully) than 1st generation. - schoate09, on 11/18/2007, -6/+3What's with the PS3 fanboys on Digg. First, the SPUs are largely useless, as they have NO Level 2 cache. Secondly, 1 is disabled at the factory, and one is reserved for the OS, making only 4 SPUs and 1 PPU available. I know I'd rather have 3 PPUs than 1 PPU and 4 SPUs.
- dansmeek, on 11/18/2007, -1/+3well yeah... i'd rather have 6 PPU's instead of 3... but the cell is a feasible architecture. yeah the ppu's aren't actual full bloody processors, but they allow for tasks that usually would be taking up processing space for graphics or other main elements, and allow those aspects to be run separately. i'm thinking complex AI, or physics and whatnot. also, you are confused. 1 is disabled at factory for the OS. and there are 7 SPU's. So 6 are available for the game. but it's all pointless since developers are too retarded to use them.
- staticneuron, on 11/19/2007, -0/+2What makes you think the need level 2 cache? There is 256k of local store and 512 bytes of atomic cache for each SPU. And your math is wrong on the SPU's because there are seven if two were taken up as you say that leaves behind 5. You would want 3 PPU's if thats what you are familiar with and most western PC and multiplat devs would agree with you. But if you do your research you would find that quite a few devs have no problems with the SPE's and nearly all of them prefer the local store over the cache because it grants them more control.
- shinythingy, on 11/18/2007, -0/+4Well i saw it on the 360 and it did nothing but freeze, the PS3 version on the other hand played brilliantly no drop in frame rate or glitches. Therefore this is the same all over the world
- rusty123jimi, on 11/18/2007, -2/+9Try and flip your statement around "hardware flaws (memory, video card etc). - iheartjebus, on 11/18/2007, -1/+1yeah, it froze on the 360 for me during a loading screen.
- exomni, on 11/18/2007, -4/+2I've played both and it's glitched on both. However, I can definitely the laggy-ness is more prominent on the PS3 version. So if you have both, I'd have to recommend the 360 version. Unless you are annoyed by achievements popping up in-game (wish there was a way to turn that ***** off.)
- ArrakisDune, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1See my post about about crashing. I forgot to mention this in it so this is probably a better place.
I agree with you, the 360 version feels much smoother on the bits we could play (which could be a good hour or so thankfully). I've no idea why (It doesn't feel like a frame rate issue) its doing this, but its a little annoying. One thing I did notice was that the PS3's bluray drive seems to go a bit mental with this game compared to others. Some of the jumps in smoothness seems to happen more when the drive is going mad. I'm starting to wonder if it's due to a bad batch of disks - It would explain why some can play it fine and others have issues.
Bring back the Mega Drive / Genesis Vs SNES war please!
- ArrakisDune, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1See my post about about crashing. I forgot to mention this in it so this is probably a better place.
- 3leggedHorse, on 11/18/2007, -3/+1 Yep I am caning it on the PS3 and it freezes now and again, Seems like a memory problem or something. Ironic considering the game is about memory. Or is it a case that Ubisoft are taking the piss.
- shinythingy, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Not ironic and it happens on the 360 too
- Terra21, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Xbox version works fine for me, had it on for about 5 hours on friday and a few hours on saturday and not freezed once yet, this is uk pal version.
