    • echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In the couple of weeks before and after launch, Amazon had notifications you could set up, so they'd email you when the units became available. However, the units sold out so fast that the notification wasn't even triggered.

      This happened for the launch preorder, again for the launch availability, and AGAIN for the first restock.

      Ah, well, no matter. Times Square ToysRUs and a 20-minute wait at 7pm two weeks after launch FTWii.

      Broken controllers? Are we living in the same world here? The only thing CLOSE to a broken controller that I have seen is the idiots that slam their controllers into their tvs, and even then the controllers usually don't break.       20 Minutes? I was by there for the second batch of Wii's, the line went all the way around the block and I was there 30-45 minutes before the store even opened. Unless you're throwing out the time spent in line, there's no way you were there for just 20 minutes.

      Wii is the top seller for a reason...it works, it's more entertaining and Nintendo didn't price themselves out of the console war.

      Furthermore, the only real advantage I have heard regarding PS3 is that the graphics are superior. Graphics are great but playability and entertainment value are more important. If the PS3 wasn't an overpriced POS I am sure it could have competed with the Wii but it can't compete as is. Superior graphics don't make up for a buggy, junk, overpriced system.

Personally I want a wii but I don't think Sony is going to die, maybe loose a lot of money but not go the way of the dodo.Anyway I think this is no surprise considering how the wii has been selling. Pulling into Wendy's a friend of ours stopped us and asked if there was anywhere we could find a wii,someone else answered for us with a disappointed "no".

      I dont think they have sold out anywhere in my town, but i still have friends camping out for Wii's.
      If you need a ps3 i can pick one up for you for a small fee ;)
      As for a Wii the surcharge will be more becuase i normally dont get up that early.

      The DS Lite, however, was completely sold out.

    I was in EBGames the other day returning a christmas present and they had 4 Wii systems in the back.

    I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere, either, so I can only assume most others are like this as well. They have, what, 4 million some units out now?

      The answer is yes, so please, stop talking out of your ass. I was at Best Buy when I saw five PS3s. Do I automatically assume that every store out there has five PS3s in stock? No, I asked the clerk and they had just got them and they were gone by the time I found the DVD I was looking for.

      thats a great point. I'd be super pissed if ps3s were now easily found when I had just dropped over a grand on the thing just a few weeks ago. Now I honestly have no idea if ps3s are sitting on shelves, or wiis for that matter, but I do know I love my Wii!

      In the end, stop hating on consoles that other people clearly love. Claiming the wii controller is broken or that ps3s aren't any fun is just ridiculous. I have both at my disposal, and with the right game in the disc loader, I'm so much happier than I was with the damn cube or ps2.

What's everyone's best guess as to when the frenzy will be over and an average laid-back joe like myself can just walk in anywhere and pick one up with 100% probability. I'm in a major metropolitan area and an EB/Gamestop phonecall reported that no Wii's were on any trucks in today's shipment. The same goes for BustBuy, CircuitCity, and Target. My roommate is so excited that I'm planning on getting one that he made all of the phonecalls for me :)

      no no, you're missing the point, the internet is not exactly full of "nintendo lovers." In the PS2's hayday there was far more online enthusiasm for it than for the Gamecube.

      what you mean is the internet is full of _gamers._ These gamers for the most part no longer like sony much and have moved to Nintendo and Microsoft's offerings. This is because the PS3 is expensive and doesn't provide enough gaming at the moment.

All were marked $249 and I did not see people rioting to get into these stores. So whats the news? Yes, oddly I can't find these consoles on any online stores.
