- addrake, on 10/12/2007, -3/+64Apparently there is a troll on digg born every 30 seconds.
They fixed the strap already too douche-nozzle. - livejamie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+55...which is under 20 seconds
- Eldorian, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28You can order PS3's online easily at gamestop.com if you really wanted to.
Or just walk down to your local gas station, the bum in the alleyway might be using one as a pillow. - sncballer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21This was a pretty lousy job by Amazon. Give people a 4 hour window, make them wait for 2 hours, have only enough in stock that you sell out in under 30 seconds. I think the lottery idea was much better.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19*****! who killed him? does this mean there wont be another legend of zelda?
- forgiste, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13@nuhkka
It's http://duggmirror.com/ genius... - McLumpy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Guys, don't pay attention to 23r17i05o42n's trolling. All he does is make idiot, baseless comments on pages about the Wii, and really the only reason I haven't blocked him is because I feel a distinct sense of superiority every time I read what he says.
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@23r17i05o42n
Broken controllers? Are we living in the same world here? The only thing CLOSE to a broken controller that I have seen is the idiots that slam their controllers into their tvs, and even then the controllers usually don't break. Maybe you should get your head out of your ass before trolling digg. - Korexz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Sony fan boys get pissy when there is proof that the Wii is more desireable than the PS3.
There is also a direct correlation to the amount said fan boy paid on eBay and the amount of anger he injects into his comments ;) - thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7According to the Amazon.com comment boards, someone called them and was told they sold 1000 units in about 40 seconds.
- Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@NiGHTSChao
You Lose. - mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"It's obvious that 23r17i05o42n is a fanboy ps3tard from the list of his comments on other Wii stories."
No, hes just a general troll. Thats why I've had him blocked for quite some time. - JorgeGonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Could it have been coincidence that you were in the store at the same time they just received a shipment?
The answer is yes, so please, stop talking out of your ass. I was at Best Buy when I saw five PS3s. Do I automatically assume that every store out there has five PS3s in stock? No, I asked the clerk and they had just got them and they were gone by the time I found the DVD I was looking for. - echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In the couple of weeks before and after launch, Amazon had notifications you could set up, so they'd email you when the units became available. However, the units sold out so fast that the notification wasn't even triggered.
This happened for the launch preorder, again for the launch availability, and AGAIN for the first restock.
Ah, well, no matter. Times Square ToysRUs and a 20-minute wait at 7pm two weeks after launch FTWii. - freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think the sign is the PS3 is more expensive and people are either not buying for it, or like a lot people waiting. Personally I want a wii but I don't think Sony is going to die, maybe loose a lot of money but not go the way of the dodo.Anyway I think this is no surprise considering how the wii has been selling. Pulling into Wendy's a friend of ours stopped us and asked if there was anywhere we could find a wii, someone else answered for us with a disappointed "no".
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That's really funny. My mom (yes, my 46 year old mother), went into Target yesterday and bought one for herself. She walked into the electronics department and picked it right up. I guess it must have been luck of the draw, though
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's obvious that 23r17i05o42n is a fanboy ps3tard from the list of his comments on other Wii stories.
Wii is the top seller for a reason...it works, it's more entertaining and Nintendo didn't price themselves out of the console war.
Furthermore, the only real advantage I have heard regarding PS3 is that the graphics are superior. Graphics are great but playability and entertainment value are more important. If the PS3 wasn't an overpriced POS I am sure it could have competed with the Wii but it can't compete as is. Superior graphics don't make up for a buggy, junk, overpriced system. - walkable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If no one cares, yourself included, then why did you bother to read this article and make a comment?
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4These sales are beginning to piss me off because of the way the sales are being exploited.
They should rename them to "Rewards to whoever can script/hack Amazon the fastest." - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Ah, well, no matter. Times Square ToysRUs and a 20-minute wait at 7pm two weeks after launch FTWii."
20 Minutes? I was by there for the second batch of Wii's, the line went all the way around the block and I was there 30-45 minutes before the store even opened. Unless you're throwing out the time spent in line, there's no way you were there for just 20 minutes. - g4blows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Quick, get the ocarina!
- Forever-Zero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I didn't script/hack and still managed to get one today. It just took a lot of patience and a lot of refreshing...
People who got them by scripting are pretty sad though, they should have to go through hell mashing refresh like the rest of us. - jferraro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@23r17i05o42n
When will you learn to love? - jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -1/+4posting this comment from my wii :)
- livejamie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@mtownand1
you probably are trying to use less-than or greater-than symbols - jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ugh here too...

- tdyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2out back...they will bring one out at a time...and escort you out of the store with it.
- psylence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Korexz: These guys beat you to it: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4336801.html
Only by ~26 years though. You'll get there! Keep trying sport! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It did seem pretty no-frills every man for themselves... Like they dumped them in a pile and said "Have at it!"
- drpcken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@sirloin
Why would anyone want to pay you a small fee for a PS3 when they can walk into any retail store and purchase one? - blahbbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2After checking out itrackr.com, it said that one of the Target's in my area had some, so I called and they said they had two. I ran down there an bought one... the last one.
Of course, this was after hanging out on Amazon this morning just like everyone else. So far I've bought two using these tools:
http://www.refreshthing.com/wii
and
http://www.itrackr.com
Best of luck. - warsd4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4A friend of mine found ~15 at Target the day before yesterday. They had been sitting there all day!
- thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@Eldorian
You can buy Wii's easily on ToysRUs.com also -
It's just that no one wants a bundle with a bunch of games they don't want to play; same thing's happening at the Gamestop site - it's not a sign of popularity. - eizooo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1liked the simplicity and elegance of the ruby-script and not the story itself
- gdm9000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's because you live in East *****. Try finding one in Metropolitan DC, where I live. I can assure you that there are none to be found anywhere.
- tdyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i got two at future shop..which is best buy canada...
- kauko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"You can order PS3's online easily at gamestop.com if you really wanted to."
Eldorian, could you please provide a link to a definitely in-stock (no pre-orders or pre-releases) non-bundled PS3 (60 GB model) at Gamestop's web site so that the few suckers who want one can get one? - Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was able to buy one for a friend (I had a preorder and picked up on launch day) on December 24, in the middle of the afternoon. And there were quite a few in stock, despite a rather long line of people who primarily were there for the Wii.
The DS Lite, however, was completely sold out. - iseebluuue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i was frequently refreshing amazon's wii page this morning. they sold-out sometime between one of those refreshes. no luck for me........but a random call to target today around 10:30 yielded some good. i was able to get one of the 12 units they got today. finally!!!
- terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw some wii's just sitting in Microcenter yesterday.
- RogueX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, what store, i'd like to check it out if this is true...
- b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"the internet is just filled with too many nintendo lovers"
no no, you're missing the point, the internet is not exactly full of "nintendo lovers." In the PS2's hayday there was far more online enthusiasm for it than for the Gamecube.
what you mean is the internet is full of _gamers._ These gamers for the most part no longer like sony much and have moved to Nintendo and Microsoft's offerings. This is because the PS3 is expensive and doesn't provide enough gaming at the moment. - Deinonych, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iTracker is awesome. I was able to get a PS3 by using it. :)
- terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's criminally stuped to pay more than retail for them.
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how does itrackr work BTW?
- AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just shows how hard it is to get one. I can't even find one in my area. They sell out so fast.
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This has been driving me nuts. I'm subscribed to like 4 wii-finder services, I have notifications that go to my cell phone, and still haven't gotten a hold of one. This link sucks the worst right now:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2585649
All day it's said they're in stock, you click "add to cart" and it says it's not available for shipping.
Just out of curiosity, at best buys and targets the wii displays are at the end of aisles. Where do they keep the actual wii boxes when they're in stock? - ch28kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I need a wiimote!
but thats amazing, 20 seconds.. 1000 / 20 = 50
thats 50 wiis gone in per second. amazing. - losttoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw several Wii boxes at a Citywalk store in Universal studios and also lots of them in a store in a small town on the way back from LA to SFO. All were marked $249 and I did not see people rioting to get into these stores. So whats the news? Yes, oddly I can't find these consoles on any online stores.
