Q: What will change with regard to the day-to-day operations at Blizzard?
A: There will be no changes in the way Blizzard operates. All of the people, processes, and philosophies that have made Blizzard so successful will be preserved. Blizzard will benefit from all-star sales and distribution teams to service our products. In addition, the combined company will be stronger financially, managerially, and operationally.
Q: How will this impact Blizzard’s games?
A: This will not impact Blizzard’s games. We remain committed to providing the same high-quality game content and support that we always have. Development on Wrath of the Lich King and StarCraft II, as well as on our unannounced games, is continuing as normal. - enronias, on 12/02/2007, -5/+82wow talk about the WTF moment of the day.
- Abjure, on 12/02/2007, -3/+67Let me guess. Is it a grinding game? Get it? Comical genius right here.
- SilverBlade2k, on 12/02/2007, -11/+60this better not ***** up or cancel Starcraft 2...
- GeneralTekno, on 12/02/2007, -5/+46I don't think Blizzard was really a party to this merger, myself.
To me it sounds like Activision wants to ride on Blizzard's good name. - dvinnen, on 12/02/2007, -4/+44RTFA
Blizzard isn't merging, the parent company of Blizzard, Vivendi Games, is merging with Activision. They are just cashing on the Blizzard star power as a name. - SaladCactusKing, on 12/02/2007, -10/+39Gamers Lose.
- zachshmack, on 12/02/2007, -4/+32Yes, but unfortunately it will be a WWII shooter.
- tapo, on 12/02/2007, -1/+26You're forgetting the once-great Sierra.
- whalefarmerjohn, on 12/02/2007, -1/+25I'll support them as long as they call themselves BLACKTIVISION
- chris9902, on 12/02/2007, -0/+22If these guys had a sports line up EA would be ***** themselves.
- kuchino, on 12/02/2007, -4/+25Does this mean Starcraft Ghost will return?
- SonnyW, on 12/02/2007, -1/+22Yes, and it will probably get about 10 sequels in the next 11 years if the Tony Hawk series is any indication.
- tapo, on 12/02/2007, -0/+20Vivendi was much, much worse - and they were smart enough to not touch Blizzard.
My only concern is about the stupid name of the new company. - Xelseragoth, on 12/02/2007, -2/+19Comments like this never makes sense to me. First of all, its a merger, so the same company (along with another) that has been controlling Blizzard will continue to. Second of all, Starcraft is one of the biggest RTS franchises ever, and one of Blizzards most profitable games. How would it make any tiny slight bit of sense for Activision to screw with it? You don't become one of the most successful gaming companies out there by being morons...
- drewtown, on 12/02/2007, -4/+21Taking on EA? What can another huge company do to the gaming industry?
- Bootes, on 12/02/2007, -0/+16Uh Vivendi releases a large number of games....
- JanYpe, on 12/02/2007, -0/+16Provide credible competition?
- i4mt3hwin, on 12/02/2007, -2/+17They couldn't think of a better name.. such as Blizvision or Actizard? Granted Actizard sounds like a pokemon.
- GfunkGbuss, on 12/02/2007, -0/+15Anything to combat EA is fine in my books.
- GrammerPants, on 12/02/2007, -4/+18Yeah me too, I'm worried they will still keep making them.
- XBSHX, on 12/02/2007, -0/+13Blizzard has been owned by Vivendi, which is a fairly big company for a while now.
- ttfadia, on 12/02/2007, -6/+18Candidate for overstater of the year. ^
- pixelate, on 12/02/2007, -0/+12ACTIBLIZZENDI
- chris9902, on 12/02/2007, -10/+21Activision gave me COD4 so you shut your mouth.
- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 12/02/2007, -1/+11***** digg
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topi ... - h4mx0r, on 12/02/2007, -3/+12"By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!"
It's like the debate on the heart ring. What's the point? Sure it makes one bigger dude like Captain Planet, but there is still a mystery, in this case, WHY!? - Ajenthavoc, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9As a side note, they seriously need to make another Mech Warrior. The mech genre in general has been neglected for quite a while.
- tolbs, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9Not with EA's exclusive rights to producing 3rd Party NFL & FIFA Console Games, and much the same with 2KSports and the MLB. It kinda really sucks.
- nkovacs, on 12/02/2007, -1/+10Vivendi was a large company that gave Blizzard a very large amount of independence. I don't see this merger as affecting Blizzard's independence. It will probably dilute Blizzard's name since it will now be in the moniker of the new company.
- zachshmack, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9You're actually right. It hasn't.
- funnydale, on 12/02/2007, -1/+9With the way EA has been crapping out their products lately, WOW will be more than enough.
- DarkDx, on 12/02/2007, -1/+8ET is the worst game ever and everybody knows that
- alakev, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7Actiblizzard???
- DeadlyCouncil, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7ZING!
- gettempapa, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Hopefully they are not talking about quality because the quality of the games will remain the same. This should just give Blizzard more resources.
- coolboy0286, on 12/02/2007, -3/+8I hope this doesn't affect blizzard at all. Blizzard is very profitable and has very good and historical games, being a hard ass fan of WC series(excluding WOW), I sincerely hope Blizzard stays the way it is.
- sittered, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5GAMER 1: You got Blizzard in my Activision!
GAMER 2: Well, you got Activision in my Blizzard! - inactive, on 12/02/2007, -3/+8O goody now they have even more advertising power to push crap down people's throats. (Not that anything made by Blizzard could be crap)
- XBSHX, on 12/02/2007, -3/+7Everyone calm down, Nothing in blizzard is going to change.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topi ... - h4mx0r, on 12/02/2007, -2/+6I'd rather Universe of MechWarriorCraft
- Malarie, on 12/02/2007, -1/+4Blizzard, with this merge, you will have access to hundreads more developpers, can you please start developping Diablo 3 tomorrow?
Oh and please, do NOT /MMO Diablo 3. - staticneuron, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3That has a certain ring to it. I like it!
- Asianwaste, on 12/02/2007, -3/+6I bet Battle.Net will be turned into Activision's answer to Steam.
- adminmatt, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3is it just me or is this story on the front page twice?

? - theworldisround, on 12/02/2007, -1/+4Um... the distribution and managerial powers of the very prosperous Activision combine with the amazing game production of Blizzard. That is the way in which this will be good for gamers.
- tolbs, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Amen to that! Really miss Mech Warrior :P
