- Waskonator, on 06/11/2008, -13/+141Shopped. Fake news... get it together digg.
If you know where that statue is, you will know that behind it is.... a city. They didn't put that statue in the middle of some forest. - Omek, on 06/10/2008, -27/+153That's just wrong.
- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -27/+144That's just ***** sick. Turn a guitar legend into a cheap advertisement.
- xBBx, on 06/10/2008, -16/+59As much as I've enjoyed the Guitar Hero franchise up until they obviously started milking it (Guitar Hero: Aerosmith & Guitar Hero: On Tour anyone?), I think their latest stunt was really uncalled for. If they want to use living rock stars to promote the game, go for it, but let the dead RIP.

"shopped shopped shopped!" is all i hear from you guys...
"The company recently decided to celebrate the fact that a couple of Guitar Hero performances would take place at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, an event partly known for featuring one of Jimi Hendrix’s last performances before his tragic death."
that statue is outside dimbola museum in the isle of wight. it might very well be shopped, but this is mostly directed towards the people who are saying that this is in a city and basicly nowhere near plants - InActionJackson, on 06/11/2008, -9/+48that is obviously photoshopped, just look at the buttons and his right hand, and like Waskonator said that statue is in a city plaza not a park. seriously, if you can't tell that's a fake you should just turn your computer off and walk away slowly
- rockon4life45, on 06/11/2008, -8/+37no they haven't
chill the ***** out - deathsythe, on 06/11/2008, -1/+24Buried for sensationalism.
- awuwish, on 06/11/2008, -2/+21Look at the blue button. It doesn't mesh against his middle finder. Clearly fake.
- aladrin, on 06/11/2008, -3/+20It's not only wrong, it's outright fake. That has got to be one of the worst photoshops I've seen yet that -anyone- thought was real.
- shondell, on 06/11/2008, -1/+14Is it fake? I mean there aren't any real pictures of the entire statue...unless someone can give us a link?
- TheAstronomer, on 06/11/2008, -0/+12Cry me a river...boycott? Seems a bit over the top. And, aren't you committing the same crime to Charles Boycott?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Boycott - inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+12not seen many shops i take it?
- dragapply, on 06/11/2008, -3/+15No, because it's a fake. Buried.
- MetalLizard, on 06/11/2008, -9/+21Filefront needs to get this news off their website immediately. This is a bash against Activision, and I have no doubt it will disgust many who believe it to be factual news. Who ever created this falsified news has it against Activision, and I bet it's a competitor. This is slander, and it's illegal. Activision has made some fantastic games, and does not deserve this defamation. Bury this article now for justice.
- verbose, on 06/11/2008, -7/+19Harmonix would never do that.
- otis12, on 06/11/2008, -7/+17He would have totally played it...and kicked ass too.
- chipperrocks10, on 06/11/2008, -2/+12Damn, did Activision kill them too?
- Zippo, on 06/11/2008, -2/+12Oh no, a few pieces of foam stuck on with tape. The horror.
From the title I thought they had actually replaced the stone guitar with a Guitar Hero controller. - JahRage, on 06/11/2008, -3/+13I honestly do not think Jimi would give a *****. Who cares?
- robbh66, on 06/11/2008, -1/+10Wrong yes, but the hypocracy of digg is astrounding.
A graffiti artist does something like this- he's a brilliant artist. A corporation does it- it's vandalism! - roomforpanic, on 06/11/2008, -0/+8You're blind. The 'Guitar Hero' logo looks decent, but the big buttons are terrible. The orange button blurs toward the back edge to mimic a photo's focal point, but then the front edge of the blue button is somehow inexplicably clean.
Not to mention the hatchet job perpetrated on the blue button against the middle finger. It looks like it's floating against nothing, no shadow, none of the subtle gradation you'd get from a real photograph. - DuxBelorum, on 06/11/2008, -0/+8No, but it is entertaining, and you get to listen to some good songs while you play it.
As long as you know that being able to play a song on GH does not mean you can actually play it, I think everything is fine. - davewashere, on 06/11/2008, -2/+10How dare you bring accuracy to this discussion. I thought the whole idea of Digg was to talk out of our collective asses and try to convince others that we know what we're talking about.
- toxicityj, on 06/11/2008, -2/+9Nah, I'm good. First of all, it's not like they spraypainted it. it's clearly somethign that could be easily removed without harming the statue. Secondly, it's not even confirmed to be real. thirdly, get over it.
- gavin422, on 06/11/2008, -0/+7Are you kidding? I'd LOVE to see a statue of a conservative preacher holding a Guitar Hero guitar.
- CaptZomborg, on 06/11/2008, -2/+8Fake or not, everyone is overreacting. They are like foam cut-outs withe some double sided tape. If GH was still from a small company everyone would think it was hilarious.
- twtmc, on 06/11/2008, -5/+11Dugg for the Cobra Commander reference.
- sims5487, on 06/11/2008, -3/+9You're gonna be that guy, huh?
- MRintheKeys, on 06/11/2008, -1/+7Welcome to the 21st Century, presented to you by the Corporate Division of the Human Race, enjoy your stay....
- shinythingy, on 06/11/2008, -0/+6seems like the point of GH has passed over your head. In an airplane
- SAOSiN, on 06/11/2008, -2/+8dont you ever tell me how to live my life!
- relic180, on 06/11/2008, -2/+8It's Photoshop, people. A .6 second glance at the full size image makes it OBVIOUSLY clear that that is B.S.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/10/2008, -1/+7Pick up Rock Band. I don't know why anyone would waste their money on Guitar Hero: On Tour (horrible songs on there!) or Rock Revolution.
- Thogster, on 06/11/2008, -0/+5Or their new spin-off featuring Metallica.
- jameschilders, on 06/11/2008, -2/+7It's fake. Duh.
- shinythingy, on 06/11/2008, -7/+12not even a decent 'shop
- astrotrain, on 06/11/2008, -2/+6Still defaces a memorial of a true legend, Activision just went too far for this lame attempt in advertising GH.
- logicalnoise, on 06/10/2008, -1/+5rock revolution is just guitar freaks/drummania I've owned several of those games and they don't come close to being as fun as rock band.
- Xebozone, on 06/11/2008, -1/+5I agree - it is definitely photoshopped
http://xkcd.com/331/ - Pyehole, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4Over reaction anyone?
- skyshock1, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4Maybe if he would have stayed away from Hendrix covers... :P
- lenny4422, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Also NBA players would never touch NBA 2k, oh wait...
- EricSchC1, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Guitar Hero performances on the main stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, is an insult to anyone who took the time to master a real instrument.
- ssstonebraker, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4this isn't news, it's boring... so is this comment
- Greengoo, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4This is indeed a shop, check out the statue on wiki, there's no trees in the area, just buildings...
buried as inaccurate - mclaincausey, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4Why would they put a fake background in? Use your noggin. The statue you guys are thinking about is in Seattle. This one is at the Isle of Wight.
- daschupa, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3This is the real statue in its real "garden"
http://www.dimbola.co.uk/images/stories/purplehaze ... - thwoom, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3couldn't we have just gone to the original site?
- relic180, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4Well, they're not. Get over it.
