- Waskonator, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28Attention: Don't pleasure yourself to thoughts of Halo.
- Remmiz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Weird posts on Halo 3 forums by an AI which has since been taken over by some malicious being, people in streets who claim to know what caused ancient mysteries (stonehenge, pyramids) and a website that has a countdown to something.
There is a lot more depth and fun tidbits but this about covers the main stuff. - ninepound, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I'm sorry, but I don't think the characters "prepare to pleasure yourself to my words" should ever be strung together into a sentence.
- S4MF1SHER, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11For the sake of all you hardcore Halo fans, I really hope Halo 3 delivers. Because if it doesn't live up the hype and viral marketing, I can picture a million nerds going to Bungie and just carpet bombing the place.
- Shadowhawk109, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14I don't have a 360 or the original XBOX, so I can't say I'm a huge participant, or one at all. BUT, I have been following both ARG's, and I think we need to look at it this way: Marketing. I've never seen a more KICK ASS marketing scheme than these ARG's. I mean, payphones ringing and audio drama?! Freaking insane. I 100% approve of this new approach, and agree with t.toe that we should give this new one a chance before we bash it. For all we know, Bungie might out-do themselves again. I'm a fan of the Halo series, yet am a PC gamer. Halo 2's story sucked, but multiplayer made me happy (played on other people's XBOX's and now on my Vista PC). If Bungie can keep up the good work, then the ARG will be successful, but even if people are disappointed, this new approach to marketing is wicked cool.
- TH3W1R3D, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Summary please. I'm lazy.
- t.toe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11To be fair, the ilovebees ARG started very similarly to this. There was the hacked honey-selling website and there was the personal blog of the girl who designed the honey-selling website for her grandmother. There was also a countdown. It wasn't until the countdown finished that ilovebees really got interesting (i.e. payphones ringing, and that fantastic audio drama). I say we give this new one a chance before we start bashing it while it's still in it's infancy.
- PunkRampant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Especially not in the description of a ***** Digg story. That's the creepiest ***** I've ever read on this website.
- PunkRampant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I was interested in learning more about this but after THAT creepy description, I'm not so sure...
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Well, the multiplayer already lives up to my hopes, so at least I'll be pleased with that.
I just sure as hell hope the story goes somewhere good. - Jokermx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Is it me or is Bungie and the media hyping Halo 3 a bit too much?
- mrsmalkav, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Raise your hand if "ew"?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10BEADS?
- Whaines, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Well, they've never gone anywhere bad with the story so it would be odd for them to start now.
- PunkRampant, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Sarcasm, whaines? I certainly hope so, because Halo 2 tried to make us sympathize with the Covenant and that didn't work out very well. The Arbiter was a strange addition to the story, and it deviated from the first game's attitude of KILL ALL EVIL ALIENS NOW.
I hope the Arbiter dies in Halo 3. - squirmalicious, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"there's a lot go through"
How do stories riddled with errors get any diggs at all? I don't understand. - PeaTearGryphon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3fap, fap, fap... oh you were being sarcastic...
- whickywhickyjim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If they only spent the time on making a plot instead of this, Halo3 might be good.
halo3 spoiler: Covenant comes to earth by accident while looking for arc in halo2, needs backup. Covenant gets backup while masterchief fights off covenenat at earth. keyes and elites go to arc and disable detonantion, covenant realizes this; leaves attack on earth and goes to arc, but arc has defenses which keyes and elites use to destroy covenant fleet. meanwhile, plant thing is general of the flood for some reason. kortana shows plantmonster and flood how to go to earth for food. everyone left fights flood and plantmonster on earth. masterchief kills plantmonster and flood. game over. see, halo3 is stupid. - G33k0ft3chz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Well the cryptic email that was sent out seemed to point out to go to terminals which have been confirmed by the Achievements list. I'm thinking that AR is the last Terminal or the main one.
- tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Viral marketing and cryptic messages or not, I really hope that Halo 3 will be much more epic and in-depth in terms of storyline like Halo was, maybe even better.
- goonbaggins, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2http://args.bungie.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=28
That one is really easy to follow and is also constantly being updated - tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1On a side note, the coordinates don't make sense. the mountain the coordinates go to is at approx. 2400 km from Mombasa, and the storyline meant that the Ark was located between Mt Kilimanjaro and Mombasa.
Thanks to destructoid for giving me the date the timer ends on, I Google June 20 2007 and come up with the last day of the spring season.
A little further down on the destructoid article, there is mention of the stonehenge and a celebration or announcement. I'm not sure but the announcement could take place tommorrow on June 21,the beginning of summer season, but I'm pretty sure that's highly unlikely or planned to throw us off course... - DeathDefi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2If anyone is looking for a accurate summary of the story so far, just head over to http://halo.wikibruce.com/Home As of right now the "Quick Summary" isn't all updated yet with the recent events, however "The Story so Far" is up to date.
- tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Going into this article made me go into at least 10 other websites and come back with a thirst for what is happening.
here is the website: http://206.16.223.65/
go into this will give you a timer, but it has stopped.
The numbers are 001 012 034 053, which are google earth coordinates to a dormant volcano in africa
- this is very cryptic indeed. - shagg187, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2thats because 42 Entertainment is not behind this ARG. Their current project is The Dark Knight...
- SpocktM, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0So the countdown has finished
Anyone cracked the code on the device yet? I thought it was pretty cool, lots of neat teasers, neat little movie too :) - jeo77, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Dugg for the original - albeit slightly odd story description...
..and the mention of Halo 3 (yeah, sorry, I'm still a fan boy >.< ) - Kash04, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1its kortana, she turns evil :(
- nailbombx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3You know how to use those italics in all the right places! And such parenthetic indulgences!
Oh baby. - gjcarew, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Ok, I enjoy video games. But come on, this is becoming a freaking cult!
- h4mx0r, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2I'm hoping for another connection between Halo and Marathon.
- Ludnix, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2This doesn't seem like the quality that 4orty 2wo Studios has produced. Seems like bungie tried to make this one up themselves.
- smurf22, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2ARGs are starting to piss me off, go answer a phone now sit and wait. ***** that
- Acidictadpole, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0That doesn't sound like the monitors to me. It sounds like the covenant. The monitor's know exactly what the rings do, and the covenant were the ones wanting to have a "great journey". So the reason, as the blogger says, that the phrases don't sound like a sophisticated AI system is because they are made by the religious covenant.
- Dundasbro, on 10/11/2007, -9/+6Too late...
- jekul, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1Dugg just because of "So, take off your pants, bring out the lube and prepare to pleasure yourself to my words."
- RonPaulPres2008, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1This is just viral marketing. Move along kids.
- monkeyvoodoo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0Who else read this as "A look at the new Halo AR Girls" and clicked instinctively?
Maybe it's just 'cause I don't play Halo... - nateabel, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2The sad thing is I'm sure at least one person has jerked off to the thought of Halo 3.
- Arkavus, on 10/11/2007, -18/+327.com and other related web sites have nothing to do with the ARG.
I know because I've been following this since the beginning and have been apart of the group at unfiction working on it. We already proved it to be OOG on our irc channel several days ago.
