- RedHeadedFreak, on 01/07/2009, -1/+20You can't have a bunch of overweight wusses in the People's Republic war machine. Might as well start the simulations before they go to boot camp.
- Goya, on 01/07/2009, -2/+18"Every child in this rehab center has a sad or miserable history, because their parents didn't treat them justly,"
Wow they actually blame the parents who are supposed to raise the kids, not school, tv, food etc... - existentialduck, on 01/07/2009, -2/+17there should be a digg addiction treatment center too
- flair1, on 01/07/2009, -0/+14ok we will just castrate you and the problem is solved.

The Chinese Government - biohazrd, on 01/07/2009, -0/+14It's not a problem if you're good at it.

/southpark - whazdown, on 01/07/2009, -4/+13Ok, I like computer games, nothing against anyone who chooses to spend 4-5hours a day playing WoW or CS etc etc but Treatment Centres?! C'mon.
- Khast, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9Sure...denial is the first symptom.

- LoveWidescreen, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6This is the seventh or eighth article from msaleem that's hit the front page within the past 24 hours. My, my, how the Digg rage towards PowerDiggers (TM) has such a short life span when it does mange to pop its head out from its burrow!
And how interesting that it's on the front page after 56 diggs, whereas some articles that have a few hundred diggs never make it to the front page. - darkjolt, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6" A group of young Internet addicts at the rehab center watches others participate in 'confidence-building measures,' as the song 'If you're happy and you know it' plays."
Wait... what? - KeniF, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7i sure need an aDiggtion centre
- Inox555, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7"One female patient had amassed 68 "husbands," says Tao, with a sigh."
And her name you ask? Yu Ho. - PistolFred, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6Per capita I think Florida might give them a run for their money. Nothing against Floridians it just seems a lot of the "weird news stories" come from there.
Let the digging down begin. - GamingBob, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Clever.
- CalcProgrammer1, on 01/07/2009, -2/+6Seems that when old people see that kids these days aren't doing the things they did when they were kids, it must automatically mean kids these days have some sort of disease. Since old people never played games as children, kids these days are obviously addicted to these games and require immediate medical attention. Seriously, times change, kids these days don't want to do the boring stuff you did 50 years ago. Gaming isn't an addiction. Alcohol, drugs, smoking, those are true addictions because they chemically modify your body. Gaming is an enjoyable activity that people do for entertainment.
- sk33lz, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5Ok so does anyone else see this as some sort of weird PLA military draft or what? I mean who the hell really does rehab with mock AK-47s? I had a laser tag set when I was a kid and they looked more like something from Star Wars. With all the regimental exercise, this looks more like basic training to me. I think the picture, and this quote from the 2nd page of the article explain it all fairly clearly.
"Despite the military-style discipline, the patients also have fun. Tao shows off the mock AK-47 assault rifles and battle gear they use for "laser tag" games. Later, 40 Internet addicts in military-green jumpsuits huddle in a conference room for some team-building exercises, as their "counselors" – PLA soldiers – watch."
Even the author of the article seems skeptical about the situation with the use of quotes on certain words in this part. - reyoo30309, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Sex isn't a part of the treatment plan?
- T8erT0T, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3People in recovery still find it difficult to break their habits. Many still resort to their old customs of forming "game clans," bearing a bracketed prefix of their recovery team name on their name tags before their real name during group counseling sessions.
- hello3u, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Helps control the population growth as well.
Two birds with one stone, YAY!
with dictatorship,
Emperor [insert current dynasty] - djruden, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3I'd play more lazer tag but its tough getting a group together that all have the same lazer tag equipment. I used to have a group of friends in HS that all had sets and we'd play once in a while. Unfortunately, it's easier getting groups together in an MMO is much easier.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3If there are no girls on the internet then how come there are more girls than guys in that rehab group...
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Technically it does chemically modify your body. Your brain's neurotransmitter and hormone levels change as you play those games. It's quite possible one can become addicted to this modified state of chemistry in the brain.
It's a mental addiction. - chaosgroove, on 01/07/2009, -1/+3Considering the population I wouldn't agree. Maybe per square mile.
- stopbrorape, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2Makes me feel kind of *****.

- Eagle193, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2Looks like I'm past my six hours already.
- jstearns, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2Someone should make a greasemonkey script to filter out stories submitted from the top 100 in Socialblade.
- Rally603, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2"Tao emphasizes that "Internet addiction" is a symptom of deeper family and psychological problems. The majority of patients come from broken homes or were emotionally neglected in childhood."
Truth. It's such an easy way to forget ***** real life problems, at least temporarily. - graywolfz10, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2"come on man don't roll on that purple... ill suck yo Diiick!"
