- mryokai, on 04/11/2008, -0/+50It's so depressing when games like High School Musical: Makin’ the Cut! sells more than The Orange Box :/

http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_conte ... - Laughto, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3311 pages and can't skip to the end? ***** that
- Supernova36, on 04/11/2008, -1/+25CoD4 is multiplatform, so its not really a suprise.
- SharkyTech, on 04/11/2008, -0/+22It's depressing when anything but a handful of games outsell the Orange Box. Transformers? Pirates of the Caribbean? Really?
- Fedorian, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1511 pages? really?
- ablacksunrise, on 04/11/2008, -5/+17Where's the 'Skip to the ones I give a ***** about' button?
- theharlotfelon, on 04/11/2008, -2/+14Multiple consoles = higher sales numbers.
- tomjm5000, on 04/11/2008, -3/+15Um... I seem to recall Brawl selling more copies in the first week than most of these games...
- ICSU, on 04/11/2008, -2/+12note: consoles only
BTW: on 1 page
http://www.next-gen.biz/index2.php?option=com_cont ... - burchie2, on 04/11/2008, -5/+15Some of these numbers seem way off.
- isgk, on 04/11/2008, -1/+10First platform exclusive on the list (how telling is this?)
PS3 #51 Motorstorm
WII #9 Super Mario Galaxy
Xbox 360 #2 Halo - theharlotfelon, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8You have to take into account cames like CoD4 are for multiple consoles. Halo 3 only 1. That's the only reason some of the games are a lot higher on the list despite the fact that they are complete horse poopy.
- sproket, on 04/11/2008, -0/+7Whole list in one page:
http://www.next-gen.biz/index2.php?option=com_cont ... - teamr, on 04/11/2008, -3/+10This list is already proven as BS. Orange box for example...they only note the console sales (1.5 million) even though valve said that the PC sales were even higher. That puts the total Orange box numbers at at least 3 million
source: http://www.tomsgames.com/us/2008/02/21/gdc_will_st ...
"The Orange Box will have sold about 1.5 million copies on the console, which is great. But the game's PC sales were much stronger." - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6What is the source.
- teamr, on 04/11/2008, -2/+8That list is BS. They aren't counting the PC sales. This is a quote directly from valve: "The Orange Box will have sold about 1.5 million copies on the console, which is great. But the game's PC sales were much stronger."
http://www.tomsgames.com/us/2008/02/21/gdc_will_st ...
That puts the total orange box sales numbers at at least 3 million, but the article only quotes the console numbers - doctechnical, on 04/11/2008, -1/+7"Cooking Mama: Cook Off". I've never heard of that one - I assume it involves a cannabalistic Oedipal complex?
- toonworld, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6dug for Tomb Raider being at no 69!
... yeah I know, I need help... - thebaron2, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5From the notes section:
* Numbers are based on official records from NPD and information provided to Next-Gen by publishers. Publicly available data and analysis was also taken into account, as well as dead reckoning and sanity checking from the Next-Gen staff when exact counts (such as unified sales data for Europe) were difficult to corroborate, conflicting, or unavailable.
* Numbers take into account only titles released and sold between March 1, 2007 and March 1, 2008. Each game only had to be released in one western territory to be included.
* Numbers take into account North America and Western Europe only.
* Numbers represent retail sales only.
* Pack-in titles were not counted.
* Older games re-released in the last year were only included if they included significant changes beyond a lower price. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is an example of the former (thanks to its new control scheme). Hitman Trilogy, a collection of three Hitman games with no content changes, would be an example of the latter. - nobelief, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5COD4 was sold on FOUR platforms.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4They basically dumped it on every damn console out there and the PSP version is no where near the PC version, Hell most of teh game on different console are completely. The only thing they have in common is s the damn name. Sad to see but EA's rehashing Business model is kind of the right model if you are in it to make money. 3 of the top ten sellers are from EA and All are Rehashes of old titles.
- Supernova36, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5I can't believe MySims got so high on the list..
- BabyWookie, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Hah hah hah. The only reason Motorstorm is there at all, is because it was bundled with the 80 GB PS3. Poor PS3.
- SuperVepr308, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3The Orange Box was classic. Great stuff.
- wilfordsy, on 04/11/2008, -3/+6Holy crap. 11 pages. Buried.
- noliberalbull, on 04/11/2008, -2/+5and now you know why the produce sequel after sequel of mediocre games
- metroidragon, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4* Numbers take into account only titles released and sold between March 1, 2007 and March 1, 2008. Each game only had to be released in one western territory to be included.
Brawl was released in a western territory March 9th. 8 days too late to be included on that list. - candafilm, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Doesn't include PC games.
- frogman54, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Looks like crappy movie games are here to stay.
- terajoule, on 04/11/2008, -2/+5Eleven pages to sift through? Screw that. Buried.

- koopertrooper, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3children buy all those ***** games because they're a franchise and theres a lot of children...
- KingGoonie, on 04/11/2008, -4/+7And... again... COD4 is a better game anyway.
- TheGreyArea, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Go Altair!
- ThetaDot, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Age groups, man. Tons of little kids wanted or got games like Shrek the 3rd for the holidays.
If you want to make money as a game developer, pick something popular and aim for the 8 to 15 age group. - lordtyros, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3NPD doesn't include WalMart, which is the largest videogame seller.
- Frisbinator, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2It is a little bit frustrating to see that complete crap that has a license (ie Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman 3 or Transformers) outsells classics. On the whole, consumers simply are not encourage quality video games.
- KingGoonie, on 04/11/2008, -2/+4Thank you... When I went to the article page and saw page 1 of 11... I was like.... um... no...
- InvaderDem, on 04/11/2008, -2/+4Seriously, didn't Brawl nab a couple million just through pre-orders?
- toefer, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2So that explains how games like Burnout Paradise and Turok make the list, even though they came out in 2008?
- Fokma, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Also no one has access to Steam numbers, so they're probably going by NPD
- tyywebb, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2You know what number doesn't make sense? ***** eleven.
- cassjewelry, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3Cooking Mama is actually pretty popular. *returns to cooking mama one on her ds*
- petebot, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2wrong thread, smart guy.
- KingGoonie, on 04/11/2008, -3/+5I seem to recall brawl coming out in 2008.
- Lazdude, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Good old top 100 lists.
- KrustyTClown, on 04/11/2008, -2/+4About 98% of the Wii exclusive are crap too.
