- jstohler, on 08/05/2008, -1/+68Carmageddon was the first driving game I remember where you were encouraged to run people over. Loved the little old lady who screamed "I was in the war!" just before she got smushed.
- bluepill2, on 08/05/2008, -2/+37Or how about that game where the protagonist had a compulsive eating disorder, took pills for its steroid-like effects, and enjoyed chewing off the clothes of the undead? I tell ya, that Pacman was outrageous.
- lotar732, on 08/05/2008, -0/+33#3 Harvester -- PC
The youtube video of the dude getting shot made me spit coffee on my keyboard. - FlyCO, on 08/05/2008, -0/+24yeah, in real life you can totally fool the cops by changing your car's color, and heal bullet wounds eating pasta
- Loopholes, on 08/05/2008, -1/+24Where is the article about 6 Old School game activists?
- HeDiggMe, on 08/05/2008, -1/+20Dugg for Custer. When you have entertainment that racist and sexist its a good thing there were no video games in, say, 1940.
- cryonix, on 08/05/2008, -0/+17I love how in the Chiller video when he shoots the girl who's half buried, she ends up in her underwear then naked, you see the player pause for a second to look at the pixelated nudity, then shoot her apart.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/05/2008, -1/+13I thought the one where the mom is pressing the baby's eyes back into the socket then licking the blood off her face that has splattered on it was a bit more disturbing.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11I was gonna say Chiller for NES. Then I got to #1. Weird ***** game
- Commonwealth, on 08/05/2008, -2/+13Cracked must do their research. I've never even heard of most of these games, when they could of easily done some half-assed list with Doom and Carmageddon and such.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10i was a doom addict when my brother introduced me to carmageddon, man i love that game but can't find it anywhere, they should port it to every system known to man
- classicalcomp, on 08/05/2008, -1/+11Sorry, but where the hell is Postal... The original was by far one of the most violent games ever.
- milkmit, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10Barbarian for the c64 was AWESOME. I used to play that game (and Space Taxi....and Mars Saga...and Paradroid...and Maniac Mansion...and so on) for hours.
And what about Commando Libya? That was about THE most un-PC game, ever. I remember playing it when I was probably 6-7 years old, and I turned out [mostly] sane. - protogenxl, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10Toasty!!!!
- somethinspecial, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9Carmageddon was the best game. I wish they would release an updated version of it.
- jorichter, on 08/05/2008, -11/+20What about Mortal Kombat?
- chrisOrbit, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Forget a port someone needs to remake that thing.
- FonzsXe, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8Carmaggedon
- rikkizenith, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7KINGPIN: Life of Crime should definitely be on this list, the amount of vulgarity and gore on that game was insane and epic.
- doctechnical, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7So how does David Bowie work into this plot?
- MasterGrief, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7That thing with the squishy baby eyeballs... What the crap, man? Why would anybody *do* that?
- MisterEX, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Anyone ever play Time Killers? Damn, I spent many quarters in the arcade chopping off appendages. Now that's a good game.

- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Yeah props to Cracked for doing their homework this time. I'm kind of a loser and have played or known of 5 of the 6 titles but surprised they showed up on a Cracked.com list.
- SergeantSavage, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6wow i think ill never watch the harvest video again... ever........... ever.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6For the lulz
- dagnabbit, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6This isn't the list of most violent ever. It's the list of most violent old-school games.
- kolyana, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5There was an old game - for the C64 I think, maybe Amiga 500 - that was all about being a Bully at school and earning points by beating the s**t out of the other 'kids'; that wouldn't fly nowadays.
- scojac, on 08/05/2008, -2/+7Where is the article about the pussification of our playgrounds?
- hormel, on 08/05/2008, -2/+7Splatterhouse
- tewstep, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Custer's Revenge? Dear Lord.
- Gustomucho, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Quarantine was the bomb... old brother of Carmaggedon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_(game) - Tonicks, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Harvester and Chiller made me feel bad inside :(
- MasterGrief, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Oh.
Oh yeah. - SpencerMc, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Obviously you're unfamiliar with Chess boxing.
- lensman00, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Lists like this bring to mind the Amiga title "Labyrinth II" by Russell Wallace. It was a text-based game set in a (real) school. It was a last man standing death match played single-player against computer controlled mobiles. You and the other inhabitants of the school, mostly (real) teachers, wandered around picking up randomly placed weapons and butchering each other. After killing a mobile you could loot its weapons and armor before continuing your spree.
Even back then (ca. 1990) I wondered if any of the teachers depicted had heard about the game!
It also had a "GRUESOME/TAME" command to set the textual gore level. The gruesome descriptions were fairly over-the-top as I recall.
Game doc here:
http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:zgoFYxmgEe0J: ... - elitebmo, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3THATS the name of the game... man ive been describing this game to everyone where you fight with chainsaws and other weapons where you delimb people. Now i have a name. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
- Haoie, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3That was never officially released, of course.
I wonder how it got out to the public, though. - bobartig, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I don't really understand the concept behind chiller. It's violent on a nonsensical level. You shoot birds, and bats, and severed limbs.. I mean, what exactly does it mean to shoot someone's arm after its been cut off by another apparatus? It just goes to show that torturing people with a gun is particularly challenging. I mean, after you've shot them in the head, what difference does it make?
Also, I'm surprised to see that this list didn't contain "Carmageddon", "Splatterhouse", or "Postal" (maybe 11 years old isn't "Old School" enough?) - KING5SIX1, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Who could forget POSTAL. That game was pretty damn intense. No plot but to kill as many people as possible. Sure it didnt have pixelated R4P3 in it but it made GTA look like toy story.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I do!
- thoughtless, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3I always tell the uninitiated about carmageddon but they never believe me... That game was simply amazing.
Did you guys ever play the UK version where they were forced to replace the pedestrians with zombies? LOL... same game only the blood was green. - sponeil, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3They said "Old School" (with a capital O). Mortal Kombat is very new compared to the games on that list (not sure about Harvester, but that one seems to be an anomaly). Man, I remember when that Barbarian game came out on the C64. It was an awesome game for its time (of course, a lot of C64 games were awesome for their time).
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I had forgotten about Harvester until this list. It caused a big 'ole uproar back in the day.
Dugg just for the memories of Harvester... - sirbeta, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Damn, I think Harvester should have been #1 on that list.
- Iggins, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3That actor just put a battle axe through his own head! Im using this link as a new rickroll!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlsF-Yk54NQ - WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3She had a huge rack
- DigTheDoug, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2And most of the dialogue from Duke Nukem was stolen from classic movies such as Army of Darkness, They Live!, Big Trouble in Little China etc etc.
- suckanucka, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4anal receiver?
