- phase, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46hook that tube up in the living room Maw! We gots the internets now!
- solrac149, on 10/12/2007, -5/+41for every 1 person who says die, AOL, there are 100000000 redneck trailer trash gapped tooth pitchfork wielding git-r-donning inbred elites signing up for AOL.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Next acquisition: G4. It would fit them well.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17worst that can happen right now is:
Netscape.com games. - InsaneMachine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19***** you AOL. Just die already. AOL games--what a joke.
edit: apparently john2kx beat me to it. - ikkir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"GameDaily - The Independent voice of gaming"
Well.. Well.. - MisterCookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Still not nearly as bad as AOL.
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@phase
That's the first comment on digg that made me laugh out loud :D - JorgeGonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You do know that Game Informer is owned by GameStop/EBgames, right?
- Tempest811, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah thats what I wanna do - play a game then have AOL call me up asking me why I don't want to play the game anymore.
- Dayz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Expect that site to be filled with Ads!
- GNiMeLF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5AOL who?.. AOL died long ago in Australia *thumbs up* but i do miss the free Frisbees and free months Internet
- MisterCookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I was panicking when I read the title.
"Please don't be EGM, please don't be GI, please don't be EGM..."
Thank God. - neoncricket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In AOL games, when you win, not only do they post your high score and initials, but also your full name, home town, social security number, last thirty internet searches, and any embarrassing afflictions you may be taking medication for.
- Yokai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh great. I am still upset about Viacom buying Xfire... Now this happens?
Oh what is the world coming to? :( - jayfarer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5But those are magazines, and GI sucks.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It already was.
Haven't you seen all their Top 10 Lists on Digg that make you go to a separate page filled with ads for each one of the 10 items? - bdmbdm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Buying that game site is not going to make not suck all of a sudden.
- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, I guess that's somewhere I am not going...
- darkmule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, maybe we'll see AOL expand, and turn into something else, rather than their normal close minded selves. Unfortunately the name "AOL" makes most people shudder. I really think the best thing the company could do would be to give into Google, and allow Google to acquire them. Now, that seems like a 'crazy ass idea'. However, Google offers free services, as well does AOL (You know.. when you go to cancel that AOL free trial, and they offer you another free month?) -- Wait.. AOL has 'free services now'.. Anyway, you get my picture most people don't pay for the majority of AOL services anyway. Needless to say if Google did acquire them, they could make use of a once ***** company, and make it into something grand, and more widely used for low-end/cheaper communication.
- Morca007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They weren't the best, but I still read them...
Time to delete my bookmark I guess. - tunheim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@GNiMeLF
I was about to say that nothing good has ever come from AOL, but then you mentioned the free frisbees :) - lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can someone recommend a gaming site that has a thorough list of reviews/screenshots but not a ton of ads? I have used gamespot for a long long time but I am getting sick of it. They put an ad anywhere they can think of.
A by gamers for gamers site would be great. - NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And plotless gangster games starring black rappers.
- madgamer01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd try an aggregator like GameTab.com, if you don't mind reading through walls of text rather than ads.
- Innagadadavida, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yes it is.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not happening.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People constantly link to Joystiq and Engadget on here and they're owned by AOL too.
- Antz0rz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There goes all credibility for that site.
- Sukino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Adblock
- Jadinlee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, another site to add to my list of places I refuse to visit.
- danjal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Game Daily... wel.. um.. good for them, i've never seen that site.
- Rayor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know a gaming site that's low on ads, but if you're using Firefox, you should get Adblock and Adblock Filterset.G Updater. If you're not using Firefox, I believe you should at least give it a try. One of the main reasons I use Firefox is because of these extensions. That and I'm fed up with IE. But that's just me.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what the hell is game daily?
im usualy distracted looking at the GOOD review websites.............
lemme rephrase that
im usualy distracted looking at the ONLY good website gamespot.com!!!!!! - JolietJake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well I'm sure what's the problem, it's Aol's money, it they want to spread it around I could use some.
- Syvergy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Err... AOL owns Joystiq guys. This isn't new.
- grimstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Only good thing I can say about AOL is in regards to their hosting of "This Week in Tech".
That's it. - Vash_aka_TK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Goooooddd I hate aol so much. I live in the boonies and my dad only ever wants to use AOL dialup . We even have the option to go with T6 Broadband but my dad's so stubborn and won't get off his ass to do so. At least I don't browse with AOL. Firefox forever!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I dunno, I like dailygame.net more.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2who?
- roc69x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Your time has come and gone AOL. You will never be #1 again. Netscape sucks, AIM is for 13 yr old girls that like big fonts and color, AOL.com is down for the count, and your subscriptions are drying up.
- oo7akbnd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0At least the lowest rated review will be:
"Still better than AOL" - hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I can't wait to see the reviews on Elite Retention Commando.
- TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1The only good thing about AOL is AOL Music because you can download the music videos after going through their horribly bloated code.
What is Digg?
