- ReikiMaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is the definition of a free market, and supply and demand. Don't be mad at the people who want to make a buck because Sony has failed miserably at meeting its demand.
Do I think somebody will get 7k for a ps3? No.
Do I think that somebody will get 1k? probably.
The employee's of these game stores make minimum wage. They work there because they love games, not for the money. There will be a few enterprising employees who are looking to make a buck, but, I think there are several who actually want to own a ps3.
Lastly, selling an item on eBay for profit is not illegal or extortion. The definition of extortion doesn't even come close. (look it up, I did. "the felonious act of extorting money (as by threats of violence)")
In short, don't be mad at people doing what everybody has thought about, and wished they could do. Be mad at the company that cannot meet its demand. - bloodylip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So African warlords are okay because they're working within the boundaries of a free market? Although I don't exactly agree with the original poster, I don't agree with you, either.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know people that are intentionally wrecking PS3 auctions. All of these bids are not legitamite.
- jeromeerome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1eBay has been ripping down many of the PS3 auctions.

I'm going to wait untill i have a PS3 box in my grubby hands before i put my listing on there. Athough I'm not sure if that will increase my chances of making it through all 7 days of bidding.
- webgod61, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2eBay should ban all ps3 auctions (not only ps3 ever new console launch) until the new shipments arrive or demand can be met by retailers.
For those that argue its a free market, think about this, all the store employs buy up the consoles even before the store opens to sell on eBay (not that severe everywhere but in some stores it happens) and that takes away from those who actually want to play the ps3. And look at that, doesn’t seem like a free market after all. Imagine a food shortage were all the employees of grocery stores buy up all the food to resale at higher prices. Its illegal and extortion like.
