- davidhildreth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3wow was fun for what it was, good insights for those who may be headed for the deep end.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I played for a while. After I hit level 40 and got my mount I was like.."This is it?"
I realized I'd rather not kill the same enemies and visit the same dungeons over and over again. It was fun but it was a waste of time and waaaaay too repetitive. I ended up buying an Xbox 360 and mainly rent games every now and then. In the long run it will probably end up being easier on my wallet and on my health because I'm not stuck in some group that forces me to sit at my computer for more than 3 hours.

- miggz06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I never played Wow but i can see where the this article is coming from. This is a very deep and mature article and this should read by those who play WoW obsessively.
- henjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did you read the original article, or were you just rebutting what got posted in the thread? (Which was less than 1/3rd of the original article.) 'Cuz it really didn't seem like you'd read it.
So it really wasn't a rebuttal. But I agreed with your points anyway. Thanks for doing it.- nickbender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it was more of a response to the thread than the article... but i did read the article in it's entirety.
There was just very little that struck me as actual introspective reasoning, but I guess that's just not what he was going for.

"For me, playing wow was about confidance"- henjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think it's ever helpful to mock spelling.
nickbender, you make really good points that are sometimes undercut by spelling mistakes. Better proofreading would let more people see that you actually do know what you're talking about. - nickbender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3all errors were fixed after i saw draven's post... but confirmed, better revision could help a lot (thank god for google docs)

- thefutureisours, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i think WOW has the potential to be a fairly benign addiction for the addictive type... worse for a few others. However, it's better and safer (other than a few insane south korean players who play several days straight and die) than many other addictions.... gambling, sex, drugs, etc etc.... notwithstanding, still it's an addiction. much better to not spend too much time on it and go out and enjoy life...
- idtguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'll digg anything with WOW in the title but I have to say those were very generic, basically he was saying stop playing video games and get on with your life. I hear that, but I think I'll stick with video games a bit longer thanks.
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Nobody with friends plays WoW. Online friends do not count, nor can they be imaginary.
- GoblinSoul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You sir, are a retard.
- davidhildreth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the real life friends i play wow with are the only reason i play
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@GoblinSoul tell a girl (if you can find one) that you play WoW, how long you play it a day, and for how many years, then tell her all the money you spent on it and see what happens. Oh yeah don't do this online I mean do it IN REAL LIFE.
- greenrider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I call BS. The author claims to have done the following things:
1) Acted as guild leader in World of Warcraft
2) Had wild, crazy sex with another human being
Obviously, no one in recorded history has ever accomplished both of these things in the same lifetime. - cakulbet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know our guild leader was fat and ugly. I know he didnt get any ass.... As for the article, I liked it, I quit about 6 months ago and it really did take around that many months in the gym to look like what I used to....
- Freniko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For me wow was an escape from being judged by people like xisupermanix. It has evolved from that to where the people I know and respect in that game have more of an impact on my day to day life than I thought people I never meet could ever have. I also have developed some very deep friendships with the people that play this game. I don't understand how people could not develop a friendship with people that they spend upwards of 5 hours a day with. ***hardcore players maybe more social players maybe less***. This video game is a monster, it can take away real life friends and destroy relationships. I would like to be able to say that I am not one of the people that have lost relationships and friends due to this game. I would however be lying and been doing that to long. Bender you are a stud. THAT IS ALL
