- racketboy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55On top of the excellent library of casual games (I'm getting too old for deep, 3D action games), just having the ability to shut the lid and have it paused when even I feel like it and come back to it later it an awesome feature.
- Itazura, on 10/11/2007, -21/+65This isn't 65 reasons, it is 65 games, some of which aren't even out, and if number one is pinball that isn't a very good list to me.
- rumata, on 10/11/2007, -1/+43wow, that sure is a lot of reasons ;) Can't say I find ALL of them compelling; thankfully, for me, 1 reason is really all that's required, and it's called Advance Wars.
- kinglenster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37What's with the homoerotic photo of 'the gang'
- ZippidyDoo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+34The PSP has a lid?
- Namelessthinker, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Best thing about the DS.
DS lite =140 with tax
Flashcard = 40 dollars
1 gb micro SD card = 15 dollars
Let the great games flow. - NnyDarko, on 10/11/2007, -8/+28That is one hell of a well thought out argument. I have finally been converted to buying a DS
/sarcasm - Braingoo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22Online Tetris, is all I need.
- cronotrigger913, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Thank you for that "lovely" commentary, archistudent. If you supposedly have better things to do with your time, why are you wasting it complaining about the DS? Hmm, I wonder....
- CWal37, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21"in no particular order" RTFA
- dewyjuhl, on 10/11/2007, -6/+24no this list qualifies for one reason.
1. games.
2.
3.
4.
?
what about the other 64 - cronotrigger913, on 10/17/2007, -12/+30The PSP has a Standby button, much like what the DS does when it is closed.
- nebloof, on 10/11/2007, -10/+26Digg is full of ***** retards, that's why.
- Akintunde, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18They should totally remake Super Mario RPG for the DS...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+191 reason a girl will never touch him:
he wrote this list. - mirzar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14i still believe that the power lies with the N-GAGE QD
- undeadmaster2, on 10/11/2007, -19/+32love my ds. wayyy better than psp.
- thekronz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1465 is too many, I'm used to the typical Digg Top 10's.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14I don't know why people have to like one or the other. I own and like both. I have the DS for a few games and the touchscreen, I have the PSP for everything else (It's useful with stock firmware, even more useful with custom firmware...it does everything).
- stupergenius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Hypothesis confirmed.
- chingy1788, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Lets not forget the movies, Mp3 playback and all the home brew...
sound recording, instant messaging, web browsing...
PRICELESS!!! - Zephkiel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Know what else else? Advance Wars is a GameBoy Advance and DS game (there is a series called Super Famicom Wars that was never released outside of Japan), so you should be using gpSP. Maybe before you troll someone, you should do the slightest bit of research.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I thought they were gay too, upon further inspection I noticed it was the Backstreet Boys.
- xxpor, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10there is 1 reason to own a ds: R4.
- seraph741, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8agreed, failure
- PueSi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7second reason: he has homoerotic pictures of the backstreet boys on his article.
- Veurruckte, on 10/11/2007, -2/+91- Most DS games are DS exclusive.
2- Who cares what they think of you? Besides, we all know you're not getting any regardless of whether or not you're playing a "gameboy". - RandomGuySteve, on 10/11/2007, -3/+92, Movies (with GBA Movie player + Flash card)
3. Music (with GBA Movie player + Flash card)
4. Ebooks (with GBA Movie player + Flash card)
5. Opera Web browsing (with wifi)
6. Emulation (With Flash cart)
7-64. More games. Good games. - dvsbastard, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Although the DS has some great games, I already own a PSP and don't do enough portable gaming to warrant owning two portable systems.
Either way, both systems have their merits and I doubt that people who purchase either one will be disappointed. - nickj6282, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Yes they should, but EarthBound first please!
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13wow, there were at least 40 really good reasons in there, glad I own a DS.
- lilbitmoreslyk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5you didn't even read the first 3 paragraph of the article please STFU and read before you post. I can't understand how you got dugg to 40...
"The DS is a weaker machine than the PSP but it still has a few tricks that can be used as bullet points on the back of its box. Everyone knows about the second screen, the touch screen, and the wireless. Frankly, if it were up to small features, a DS list wouldn’t get very high. But those things aren’t what make the system worth owning. The DS is ultimately popular with gamers because of its games. Any list that wants to convince a gamer to buy a system should focus on games, and so without further lecturing…here are the games (in no particular order). " - ROFLance, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8flicking a single switch with your finger is harder to operate than closing a lid? you have to hold it for 5 seconds to shut it off. you fail.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7I have both DS and PSP, I also have hack/flashcart for them both so I have the entire range of games to choose from, personally I find the games on DS are very simple compared to PSP and the touchscreen is mostly just used as a horrible gimmick. DS does have a lot more games than the PSP.
Also, if you hack the PSP you can play PS1 games on it which is a much better selection than all the DS games, somewhat outdated perhapses but still much more complete when compared to the DS. Battery life on the PSP isn't as good, but you can under clock it and adjust screen brightness. - Hoinah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4... do you even know whats required to "hack" a DS?
You get 2 items, put on in the other, put that one into the DS.... uhm... done - DeathBorn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Out of the many reasons to own a DS, you could say that
It has the most diverse selection of games ever seen on a handheld.
It is so easy to develop for and play that it has truly become universal.
But there's only one thing that really matters.
Phoenix Wright. - Yenly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Be LOVIN' my R4 since I got it a few months ago... 2gb microSD FTW
- Renton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Both systems have SNES emulation.
- OdinsFury, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I can think of one good reason that I didn't see mentioned... Dragon Quest IX anyone?
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Going by your sites... the DS has better games. It has two games above 89, which is the highest score any PSP game receives. Plus that site lists FF7: Advent Children as a game, so it fails (and so do you).
NES, SNES, N64, GBA, GBC, Master, GameGear, Genesis, NeoGeo, Wonderswan, the list goes on.... do not count as PSP games.
Xbox fanboys didn't have to resort to this, considering it had the best emulators of any console and was even easier than the PSP to hack. It's sad that PSP fanboys must resort to games that Nintendo and Sega made to promote the PSP (and you must use illegal firmware hacks to even have a chance at playing them on buggy emulators. How's Star Fox 2 play on that PSP eh?) - L33tmaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I have both also, but I'd say DS has better games. Two I can point to are Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center. PSP had some great launch games like Wipeout and Ridge Racer, but I haven't really liked any of the games they've come out with recently. Playing PSX games on PSP is a definite plus though, I spent many an hour playing Castlevania SOTN.
- Jofaba, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I have to admit this list added a few titles to my wishlist that previously had turned me off.
- titaniumbolox, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7and psp still does it better!
- jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4You can't play GB games, just GBA, but still its nice. I love my DS.
- jze17, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I like the PSP list better. I don't play games all the time. It's nice to be able to download youtube videos onto the PSP (vixy.net). PSP links, covers the browser memory limitations. All it needs is a bittorrent homebrew app, for those overnight dl's where you will save $$$ on electricity as opposed to leaving the PC on overnight.
- mike81890, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I had a PSP for the longest time and found myself wishing I had spent the money on the DS instead. Now that my PSP is broken and my DS is in hand, I wish I had both :(
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3One reason not to get a PSP: the DS
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Who said it was an argument? People on digg don't always argue, sometimes they're saying their opinions too.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You should pay for DS games, they're original . I don't feel bad pirating PSP games. I've felt I've already payed for them, when I purchased each of them on the PS2.
- tvelocity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3No, no, no. You see, tekken dark resurrection symbolizes everything "wrong" with the PSP, to much 1337ness and time consuming seriousness for a portable vs. the the simple on-the-go games of the DS. If you use your PSP to play home brew and emulators, you probably will understand what I mean.
Is tekken dark resurrection a good game? Probably yes, but it definitely doesn't kill anything. -
