Oh yeah that movie was awesome. - GawtMilk, on 10/11/2007, -3/+132"Of All Time" means, "Up Until Now". "5 Best Movie Games Up Until 7:31AM on Saturday Morning, June 9th 2007" doesn't have the same ring to it. If, ten years in the future, people see "5 Best Movie Games of all Time", they'll look at the date of the article and realize, "oh. Zorgumball 9 hadn't come out yet".
- GawtMilk, on 10/11/2007, -6/+115Don't like Goldeneye? Just get off the internet. Just go. You won't be missed.
...that game was amazing. If "Perfect Dark" were a movie, those two games would be competing for one and two. - catfish182, on 10/11/2007, -1/+73I dugg this for the fact it was one page.
- hokeywebb22, on 10/11/2007, -2/+61How have you never seen Aladdian?
- miggz06, on 10/11/2007, -0/+57Ahhhh Golden Eye....the most fun I will ever have with remote mines and guys on the can. Speaking of guys on cans, anyone ever wonder what they were doing in the stalls in the Facility level? The guys just stood there facing the door. Hmmmm...
- Sabin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+55Ummm....that is the Genesis version on the list.
- TheAkolyte, on 10/11/2007, -1/+47I remember that movie
- projjalc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+41Pretty awesome seeing Aladdin and Lion King there. I cut my first gaming tooth on those games. (This was before I had gaming buddies to mock and jeer at me, although I'd probably have ignored them anyway.) Also, seeing the current trend in movie-based games, the phrase "OF ALL TIME" might turn out to be true.
- SamKellett, on 10/11/2007, -5/+46Dugg for the Lion King, man that was *the* reason to own a Sega MegaDrive.
- shaun1018, on 10/11/2007, -1/+38Why only 5? Well probably because thats how many good movie games there are.
- obrysii, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29Long live Goldeneye
- loof, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27Aladdin and Lion King were unexpected but looking back they were pretty good games.
- codepoet1985, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27Thank-you, Captain Obvious. I nearly missed theakolyte's sarcasm.
- schoate09, on 10/11/2007, -7/+31^^^Dugg down for calling it "Goldeneye 64"
- cuj0, on 10/11/2007, -18/+38top 5 stupidest list of all time
1. 5 best movie games of all time - Supurcell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20I remember The Lion King being one of the hardest games ever. I could never get past one of the first levels where you have to ride this ostrich off of a cliff and swing on some jungle vines.
- LunarOcean, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22No, if you want some of the most overrated games ever for consoles, you don't really need to look further than FFVII or Halo, not that they're bad (quite good, actually) - they're just overrated way more than Goldeneye is.
Goldeneye was great *because* it was on a console. Games that 'define' an experience in a certain area are usually great games, and Goldeneye pretty much did it for consoles. It doesn't matter that there was Quake and UT beforehand on PCs - Goldeneye was, I want to say, the first console FPS that really stood out to people and was well made. I had plenty of exposure to PC-land before then, and I still must say, Goldeneye was incredibly well made and was just fun to play. - Azslande, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20crushfan, it appears some of your keys may be sticking, have that checked... Also wtf does Half-Life have to do with this? (Even though it is a good game and they need a movie for it). Either way, I was shocked to see Aladdin on this list, I played that game hardcore.

5) Aladdin
Platforms: SEGA Genesis
Publisher: SEGA
Developer: Virgin Interactive
Why we picked it: Aladdin is not only another Disney movie-based game, it’s another movie game that rocks -- period. The game combines action elements with platforming ones, the final product being very similar to Prince of Persia. Aladdin could run, jump and swing his way through death-defying situations as well as do battle with enemies of all kinds with his trusty sword. While there were a few unexpected levels that weren’t based off the film, the majority of the stages stayed true to the movie.
4) Lion King
Platform: SNES
Publisher: Virgin Interactive
Developer: Virgin Interactive
Why we picked it: If a new Lion King game released today, chances are it’d suck. But in 1994, Virgin Interactive impressed with a lovable 2D sidescrolling platformer based off Disney’s own Lion King movie. Playing as Simba, a cute, cuddly baby cub, was intuitive, as he leaped to and from through attractively animated environments, climbing to heights you’d never expect to find a baby lion. On top of addicting platforming and lush SNES visuals, the game featured an unforgettable and instantly recognizable soundtrack.
3) Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Platform: GameCube
Publisher: LucasArts
Developer: Factor 5
Why we picked it: Before Factor 5 started working exclusively on the PlayStation 3 title Lair, the development studio created and released a three-game series, Rogue Squadron, on Nintendo platforms. The second installment in the series, Rogue Leader, arrived side-by-side with the GameCube at launch and impressed with tight controls, recognizable Star Wars mission/level design and both amazing visuals and audio. The title is easily the best in the series. The game let you control Star Wars crafts like the X-wing, TIE Fighter and even the Millennium Falcon, and it threw players into famous scenes from the trilogy, such as the Battle of Hoth and Attack on the Death Star, plus many more.
2) Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Platform: Xbox
Publisher: Vivendi Games
Developer: Starbreeze
Why we picked it: Sure, developer Starbreeze’s adaptation of the motion picture by the same name doesn’t follow the same exact storyline as the silver screen version, but does it really matter? Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butch Bay is one of the Xbox’s most immersive titles. A gritty, captivating story told through first-person meets at-the-time jaw-droopingly gorgeous visuals and atmospheric sound. The result is what lands Chronicles of Riddick a spot on our 5 Best Movies of all Time list.
1) GoldenEye
Platform: Nintendo 64
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Rare
Why we picked it: Any time someone references how a movie-based video game should be done, GoldenEye comes up in the conversation, and there’s a good reason for that. The Rare-developed N64 shooter was a breakthrough in how the genre could work on a console – or, more specifically, with a controller. While the single-player mode is memorable itself, the four-player split-screen gave birth to a new genre of console multiplayer fun. Even a decade after release, it remains a favorite. - lilxvietxboi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15finally, a list that I don't completely disagree with.
- GawtMilk, on 10/11/2007, -15/+29Why's everyone dissing Spiderman 3? Is it the new cool thing? It wasn't that bad of a movie. It just wasn't spectacular. It focused on character development more than anything else. Personally, I like to think of it as a great deal. I paid for a ticket to see Spiderman 3, and I also got to see Spiderman 4, 5 and 6.
- negativefx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14that's coherency for ya.
wow, I remember those games! i need to go make a ham sandwich. - TheLoneWolf071, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I remember Goldeneye. It was like the halo of the day. I wish they would remake it with all this fancy technology, I remember there was only like a 20 mine limit, but I wanted to plant them everywhere and blow the place to next year.
- Mo0man, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12if it was focused on character dev instead of action, at least it should have been GOOD character dev. Using a plot device to turn parker emo, am-*****-nesia, and the fact that peter and MJ never actually worked out their issues at the end. She was kidnapped, then saved, and then they went poof. Oh, and wtf was up with the sandman. Not only did he have nothing to do with the rest of the plot, his appearance basically meant that peter's entire motivation for being spiderman (guilt cuz he let that first guy get away) disappear. If he was the one who killed uncle ben, then he woulda died anyway and the death wouldn't have been peter's fault. Sorry man, but it was a horrible movie
- shaun1018, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12@StillAnonymous (#7099014)
I am a PC & Console gamers and I would have to say Goldeneye was a great attempt of creating a FPS for console. Yes there is a "newness" factor to the gameplay, but I thought it was a solid title. Goldeneye was practically the Halo of N64 era. - emorphien, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Technically Riddick was on PC too.
- madk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10The first Spiderman for PSX wasn't based on the movie.
- heyitsgarrett, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12I thought Spider-Man 2: The Game (for Playstation, NOT PC) deserved to be on the list..
- seattlescott0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9How about some props for the Super Star Wars trilogy on Super NES?
Those games we're awesome. - tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Goldeneye also had the best multiplayer ever. Before Halo, my friends and I would agree on a place to have a Goldeneye multiplayer bash.
- shaun1018, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8@idane (#7098851)
Meatbags...
EDIT: ***** stupid digg script... - emorphien, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I'm glad to see Riddick was on there. That game really was awesome.
- AngelDragon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Willow for NES is not in the list, inaccurate.
- arcooke, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10How could they leave out Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis? That is one of the greatest games ever made; especially if you're into adventure games. Just read Gamespot's user reviews http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/indianajonesandthefoa/index.html
Then again, since this game came out before most of you were born, I'm probably going to get buried into oblivion for even mentioning it. Whatever. - shieldwolf, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7New doesn't always mean better.
The ORIGINAL Star Wars arcade game was way more fun than Rogue Squadron, and for my money Tron was better than all five listed here.
And where the hell is E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari 2600!?!?! :P - starfisch, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10arkhangelsk can be a very lonely place...
- ijacker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7@franciscostello
was it not from EpIV? - Soundlink, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Aladdin is the best, should be number one lol. I still play it to this day never gets old, well it is old, and the best part of it was the music, just awesome.
- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@StillAnonymous
You just didn't like it because you never had real friends back in those days huh? On a serious note, I had been an FPS fan on the computer for quite some time - and had not yet really even owned a console when my friend got GoldenEye. What makes GoldenEye such a great memory for many of us is the fact that it was the first *real* multiplayer FPS game many of us played; you have to remember, broadband internet was not the "in" thing back then - and aside from carrying a bunch of monitors and computers to Joe Shmoe's house for a LAN party - GoldenEye was the only way to get that multiplayer bug out of your system over the weekend without ARRRRRG LAG! - l33tsauce, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13is there any doubt that Goldeneye was going to be on top of that list? What a great game. Goldeneye, Mario 64, and Ocarina of Time are some of the top games of ALL TIME, too bad the N64 never get the proper props it deserve.
- matrixkitty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Where's the love for "The Lawnmower Man"?*
*Note: I am kidding. The Lawnmower man sucks more than Paris Hilton in a space vaccum. - IdanE, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9KoTOR was an amazing game, the 2nd one was good, and I can only hope the 3rd one will be amazing.
BUT, there was no KoTOR game - it's just set in the Star Wars universe.
Now that I think of it though, it might make a better movie than the latest trilogy - Wouldn't you all love to see HK-47 in a movie? - HighDeFJeFF, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The Warriors?
- flamingmb, on 10/11/2007, -6/+11KOTOR?
- aMammoth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Meh, even though this isn't purist, Kotor should be up there.
Why?
Cause kotor is awesome. Thats why. - answer42, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Meh, it was decent, not top 5 material though.
- merdiesel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4For once, I completely agree with every game on this list.
- TimoP, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4They forgot Blade Runner.
- diggems, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6I'm surprised they didn't include the Lord of the Rings Return of the King game it was a pretty fun game with some decent combat and stayed true to the movie
