- WillyWonka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+220 Years of the NES, not 20 years of Nintendo. They're much MUCH older then that. 1800's old.

"For those who haven't been following Nintendo's new platform, the concept of the "virtual console" describes Revolution's game download service. The Big N's highest-ranking executives have publicly stated that Revolution will not only be able to wirelessly connect online, but that players will also be able to directly download some of their favorite NES, S-NES and N64 classics."

=) Dugg, NES > XBOX - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nintendo the company is from the late 1800's when they made playing cards, but by 20 years of Nintendo it means 20 years of the American system Nintendo Entertainment System, most often refered to just "Nintendo" or "N-E-S".
- Darkshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bullet Bill does deserve his own game.
- vossman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+120 years in October
Nintendo rolled out its first systems to limited American markets on October 18, 1985, following up with a nationwide release of the console in February of the following year. - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg, but needs more Guardian Legend.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"i really wish someone would buy up the rights to the software and release an emulation disk for next gen systems, something legit people could get on systems other the pc and dc. i'd buy one."
You ever see those Namco, Activision, Colecovision or Atari 50-in-1 discs for GC/PS2/Xbox? Those are what you mean. As for old Nintendo games, the IP holder for them still exists... NINTENDO!
And they're putting legal NES emulation (as well as SNES, N64 and GC) into the Nintendo Revolution, so you might want to look into that. - larst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blowing in the cartridges brings the memories back :)
- FyberOptic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Wow.. the olden days of 1986 were so primitive. It must have been pretty boring to be a kid way back then."
We totally had things called 'toys' back then to play with, which, believe it or not, were almost as equally entertaining as video games! - Cheddar79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome stuff...watched that entire video and it brought back soo many memories!!
LONG LIVE NINTENDO! - Anviltongue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's weird...I just beatt all 3 Super Mario Brothers games on NES yesterday.
With that being said, +digg - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"i really wish someone would buy up the rights to the software and release an emulation disk for next gen systems, something legit people could get on systems other the pc and dc. i'd buy one."
That's assuming you can FIND all the rights owners.
Furthermore, all the royalties and fees that the copyright owners would ask for would make sure you DON'T buy one.
Game makers want so much money for their "interlekuwull poppertee" that a game made (or sold) today will never break the records of Super Mario Bros. 3 (or the first one, counting bundled games...). - Rajio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"20 Years of the NES, not 20 years of Nintendo. Founded Nov 6, 1889, so we've already had over a century of Nintendo
Began making games in 1980, so we've already had over 25 years of Nintendo games. - Brewno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+120 Years of the NES, not 20 years of Nintendo. They're much MUCH older then that. 1800's old.
1889 I think. - StarSaber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My NES will be 20 this year and it STILL works.
- wbguy88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I loved the video brought back some memories they took care of there NES hell we broke the spring in ours and as ghetto as we were we just put a game on top of the orginal game to keep the game from popping up lol and they forget the power pad .........
- Mpower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nintendo rocks!!!!! the original console that everyone loved!!! i had sooo much fun with the NES back in the day! i hope they'll be around for many years to come!
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hopefully Nintendo will last another 20 years because I'm sure they will be the first to introduce virtual reality gaming :D
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This year will be the best though.
- MiamiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I remember the first time I saw a Nintendo. Had just come from my country to the US at the age of 5 and two weeks later made a friend who invited me over and I was immediately in love with it. That year for Christmas my dad bought me one and I was the happiest boy in the whole world. This is why I always stick by with Nintendo, not just pure fanboyism, but because they have been there through my childhood providing quality and innovative games all the way through my now 23 yrs of age. Long Live Nintendo and HUZZAH for the NES!!
- kamau84, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Big news guys, big news...
- snowbooch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i really wish someone would buy up the rights to the software and release an emulation disk for next gen systems, something legit people could get on systems other the pc and dc. i'd buy one.
- hikikomorix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's a much better article from the Famicom's (Japanese NES) 20th Anniversary.
http://archive.gamespy.com/articles/july03/famicom/ - JeffP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i would pay some good money to get a working NES with all of the games they listed that would be the perfect gaming system for me
- faza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just finishing off the book 'Ultimate History of Video games', as someone mentioned it's really worth a purchase although they suggested it to the 30+ I'd say anyone with an interest in games would love it. Also got 'Game Over' to read...
- Soave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They called Samus Aran a "he."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kid Icarus isn't on the list, but Faxanadu is. Star Tropics was a good game, Excitebike was cool, good read, takes me back!
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool find, man.
- haooken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've seen a bunch of "NES Nostalgia" articles, but this one was the best. Simple, and full of wonderful 8-bit memories.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone posted this not too long ago but at least this one is propely worded.
- gmodark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ah, so many fond memories of my NES are coming back.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was looking for this, thanks.
- cyberfelon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@52
I second Project64. That is IMO the best N64 emulator out there by far. - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@sadsac - you obviously have never played any of those games. Many of them still hold their weight.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"As a full-time gameplay counselor, I was required to take calls on every game ever made for all Nintendo systems (at the time, Nintendo 64 was the latest console). That sounds like an impossible task, but Nintendo had an ace up its sleeve. All gameplay counselors at Nintendo had access to an incredible database that contained complete walk-throughs for almost every game."
GameFAQs?
If not, should Nintendo release their in-house game walkthroughs database to the public?? - elvisdechico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.theadvantageband.com/mp3/

- Dustin - BritOverseas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>If N64 games are cheap to buy on the Revolution I may download some, considering that all the >emulators I've tried are ugly, buggy messes. I doubt I'd download any SNES or NES stuff though, all >ZSNES needs now is a Kaillera client.
Err, dude, download Project64, install it, put ROM's in folder, play...
No crashes, USB controller support, Full screen on my lappy at 1920x1200 (excellent resolution at 1600x1200), 60 fps, superb... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG, I actually remember most of those games like it was only yesterday that I played them.
Ah, the warm fuzziness of childhood memories - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great. GameSpot=I can't read it thanks to the wonderful people over at Websense.
I'd pay money to see hackers mess them up good. - sadsac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We totally had things called 'toys' back then to play with, which, believe it or not, were almost as equally entertaining as video games!"
Is that your backwards way of saying that vibrators were invented back in the 1980's too? - I8PP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Gamefaqs? If not, should Nintendo release their in-house game walkthroughs database to the public??"
Yes! The Nintendo ones won't have a 100s of lines of revision history, copyright info and obnoxious commentary! -
