- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+79Dual HDMI...that ship has sailed...
- BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+46Its missing 1 hdmi port, 2 usb ports, and 2 ethernet ports. Its also slightly larger.
- cello, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36Huh?
There were two(2) hdmi ports before ... now there's one, or zero I guess
There were three(3) ethernet ports before ... now there's one
There were two (2) additional USB ports on the back ... now there's zero
There were basically no ventilation holes before ... now almost every non-user-facing square inch is holes
...and it looks bigger to boot
Seems like a bunch of changes to me ... - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39And missing ports.
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -8/+38and a little bulkier... :-/
- PBoiIceBerg, on 10/12/2007, -9/+38Features still unannounced by Sony is the PS3's ability to heat a same room and remove 99.98% of all dust in said room. I can see a new record for replacements this generation for Sony, because the PS3 is going to get clogged fast with all those vents.
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Actually, it's missing two HDMI ports in the 20gb version. Just in case you want to get precise...
Oh, yeah, it's also missing the price tag, which should be in giant letters wrapping around the PS3. - RenZ87, on 10/12/2007, -9/+35Sony's been a real disapointment lately. Check this round-up of E3. Pay attention to what they have to say about Sony.

http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20050721/scei2_09.jpg
fit into that "new" case.
Good luck Sony!
Note: That dev kit is already "small" compared to its predecessor:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20050721/scei2_08.jpg - dv8withn8, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30George Foreman is envious of Sony's far superior grill design. But where's the grease collection tray?
- purplfunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22is it just me, or is the updated PS3 missing 2 usb ports?
- Lynx34, on 10/12/2007, -14/+34Yeah me too, considering how much better looking Wii is... oops.
- scarolan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24I think you've discovered a feature, not a bug.
That's no video game system.
It's a Roomba! - heinousjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19True, exhaust vents don't take in dust... but do you suppose the air being exhausted is generated inside the PS3?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20and dual HDMI, haha
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Also, only 4 players instead of 7.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17and how without the HDMI version, component video won't let you play Blu Ray movies in HD. You HAVE to use HDMI. totally lame.
so to play BluRay videos you really need the $600 version.
it puzzles me why sony does this. the HDMI port doesn't cost them more than $1 to add on, yet they make you buy the $600 version for it. - LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Like it or not, it's still more finalized than the Phantom
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Wow, that's a lot of air vents. Cell must be hot as hell.
- TugsMcgroin, on 10/12/2007, -13/+25I can't believe no one has stated their fanboy preference for the Wii yet. Wow!
- gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13They heard the complaints from 360 owners. I wonder if its loud
- sentry21, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Yeah killing the dual HDMI just ended a possible twin 60in 1080p Plasma's for those rich enough to afford it.
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That's a HDD LED, not a Battery.
- maxsunset, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Well, theres 4 on the front, I doubt anyone would need more. They may have been relocated to underneith that flip up panel on the front.
- GoMe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12It's a GOOD thing that they got rid of the dual HDMI. It would have been a worthless feature that no one would use and add more money ot the already expensive price.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -13/+21I love how even revising their system is now grounds to hate on Sony. God forbid they change something they haven't even released yet.
You guys stir more drama than afternoon soap operas. - WailOS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yeah, but how many of those people are just pre-ordering to get their hands on one and then immediately sell it off for $1000+ ?
- winampman2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+82005 vs 2006: expensive hardware under the hood, but still kinda ugly... and still using Spiderman font.
- SPARTACVS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Sony tried to ***** the "uninformed" by trying to claim that thier controllers won't have force feedback because it interferes with thier wii-ripoff motion sensor, when really it's just because they infringed on Immersion's copyrights.
- wideawakewesley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10What's with all the USB ports on the front. I'd rather not have all my usb cables exposed for add-on devices.
- markormesher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Ladies and gentlemen, you just saw a geek "My wang is bigger than yours" Contest.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -12/+19You don't need to be a fanboy to know a console isn't worth $600.
Especially one as lackluster as the PS3. - thevanillaspy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9might that be a hard-drive-spinning LED maybe?
- turnlikeawheel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ Ilyanep:
What about a printer?
I've got:
Mouse, iPod, cell phone, printer, gamepad, PSP, flash drive, wireless NIC and a card reader plugged into mine right now. - simcjt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9nothing is official with the cases the new boxes are mock-ups, too. The is no PS3 box with everything inside of it yet. Everything at E3 has been running on the latest Dev kits.
- Casedot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11haha, i think that the only people who buy the 60gig with hdmi output are already going to have a crazy-rich plasma. Either that or they are going to be missing a kindey or other organ...
- alanmarchman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Wow, some engineer at Sony realized they might solve the overheating issues by putting vents in the case. Now if they could only find a way to somehow put fans inside the pull hot air off the cell...
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wasnt the case shown at last year's E3 just an empty case?
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Was there honestly a need for two HDMI ports? Let alone three ethernet ports.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's only available on the $600 unit. It catches all the root kit dipping as it cooks.
You set it and for get it! - MikeSD34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mouse and Keyboard take two on their own, then there's things like web-cams, printers, ipods, cameras, jump(junk) drives, and a host of other devices.
Though I guess most of these won't apply to the PS3, it would still be nice to see as many ports available as possible, even if they have to put them in the back. - SystmBetatester, on 10/12/2007, -12/+16Same crappy Spiderman font... come on sony basic design 101... i sure hope the ps3 includes more then just what those pictures show... and whats with the dashboard? its CRAP
- Lynx34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3a. a cpu is not a computer, b. it doesnt look photoshopped at all, c. its called wii, get over it, and d. we're way past the snes/genesis days, it's the 7th generation now.
You phail. - replica, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No way I would buy the PS3 without the Force Feedback controllers.
- DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe Sony will just ship the developer kits in November to save money. For an extra fee a guy named Bruno will deliver it and will replace the force feedback of the controllers.
- nexus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Folks also remeber that the power brick is built in on the ps3 instead of external like the xbox360.
- fliped, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6its for the controllers thats why
