- that1bander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Awesome. I love Devhook.
But I think Sony will get smart fast at this point and the next firmware will be a bitch to emulate. - MalumEnSe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25What a triumph over Sony! For full details, install instruction, and download, visit:

Why would you submit a story about modchip, that also made 1154 diggs, and then say everyone who got one is a dumbass? I guess alot can change in 48 days.

http://digg.com/gaming_news/PSP_MOD_Chip_ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Its funny how Sony is losing in all the courts...They can't seem to pin down the PS3's problems...On top of that, the PSP has been simply busted open by the hackers lately. (Downgraders, Firmware Emulators, Kernel Access on Firmwares upto 2.6)
I, for one, am damn happy :) - Maltby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Yes, finally were up to Sony. Finally were not a step behind!
- JohnyD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10LOVE Devhook! Easilly the best and most profound piece of homebrew to date! To hell with Sony and their uncompromising firmware updates!!! HOORAH!!
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Jeez, I haven't touched my PSP in ages...
Time to dig it out... - dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Full Version:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/xvu2cj - Crazy_8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Not to mention, that the modchip will be needed for those that try to write a custom firmware, or some other homebrew that could potentialy brick a PSP. It has a direct USB connection to the flash on the it. So if you brick a modchip with uncompleted software, no problem! It can be undone unlike with the real PSP flash!. The modchip is useful. Just more useful to a programmer or hacker than a regular PSP user.
- powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yea--DevHook has full-featured emulation, so you could pick any firmware 2.50 or above and be able to use LocationFree.
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Or just use mine http://www.sendspace.com/file/xvu2cj no reg required and faster
- Talbain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Psp has become a battleground, and Sony is losing, lol.
- musters, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7For me personally, it doesn't encourage piracy. Now I can now go buy the latest games and not have to worry about choosing between the 2.X firmware game and my homebrew. With devhook, I get both.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7True, but CISO is better than nothing.
- Crazy_8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That isn't me. You went to my site, and took the link on it to Scomas site (which is NOT mine).
http://crazy8.dyndns.info:81/ (IS mine)
http://crazy8.dyndns.info:81/sulgravemanor/ (IS mine)
http://www.geocities.com/sulgrave_manor/ (is _NOT_ mine)
And the only page you could have found Scomas link on would have been:
http://crazy8.dyndns.info:81/sulgravemanor/ (Which is mine).
By reading that you could have also picked up on the fact it says the geocites site was created by scoma, not me.
All you've done is try to insult me by making other Digg readers think i'm someone else. I am not anywere near 46 (your off by about 20 years), my name is not Gregory or Scoma, and I don't even have a copy of Front Page. I prefer to hand write HTML with ScITE.
http://www.scintilla.org/SciTE.html - powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Before you go out and buy the LocationFree kit, I recommend you at least TRY a piece if homebrew called TVSP (http://dl.qj.net/TVSP-v0.2-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/7659/catid/151); all you need is a TV capture card for your PC (a hell of a lot cheaper).
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Tu13erhead: Yes it will, and no it won't upgrade, just emulate 2.71, and when u shut it down, it returns to 1.50
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5USB Mod and Screenshot Mod: http://www.sendspace.com/file/zhhygo
For use w/ my file above - ZenFu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Never mind. The file from planetPSP has everything you need
http://planetpsp.org/downloads/Devhook044_FULLPACKAGE_271_planetpsp.org.rar - powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The wifi-clock speed issue was fixed as of version 0.41d. This new version should also have 333mHz wireless.
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think I just came.
- Tu13erhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Will this work with Sony's LocationFree device? Watching TV on my PSP would be sweet, but I'd rather keep my 1.5 :P
- powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ok I thought I heard something like that...if you're willing to wait I know Ditlew is coming out with a new app called eTV, a better/fixed update to TVSP. And knowing Ditlew it should kick ass. But if you really want to spend that much I'm sure Sony's LF is pretty sweet.
- timmage89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4is it just me or did someone just mod down everyone's comments?
- ZenFu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dude, don't even bother getting a locationfree base station. Just download PiMPSTREAMER or TVSP from dl.qj.net.
PiMPSTREAMER allows you to stream any media content on your PC to your PSP via wifi. It's one awesome app! TVSP is still in the works but looks promising. - tydev417, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here, I updated my PSP to 2.71 like an idiot for the Flash Player and regret it now. I did hear that some people bricked their PSP when using the 2.5/2.6 downgrader.
- souljah77, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I hope this doesn't just encourage piracy but just promotes the homebrew scene.
- jmg0420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The best thing i heard all day!!!
- XistenZ, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12These "n00bs" still needed to purchase a mod chip to bring thier psps down to 1.5 so they can emulate 2.71, this isnt a downgrader its an emulator. Read up on your ***** n00b....
- jagtar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yes this is a killer app... wonder how hard the next firmware will be difficult to decrypt...
the homebrew scene always has its dry season.. then a storm of good stuff arrives and replenishes us! - soopergooman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dev-Hook 44 is awesome, THANK YOU BOOSTER!!!!
also when did pspupdates get allowed back on Digg? I think that's awesome too. - Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4There may be issues with WiFi support, though from what I hear the only WiFi problem is that it does not work at clock speeds other than the PSP's default 222MHz. Other than that, the LocationFree player should be supported.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Great news! I love DevHook!
- Tu13erhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have tried it, and it works, but there's no audio.
- Tu13erhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Thanks, all! CircuitCity's got the base station for $190, I think I might go pick it up tonight :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hell yeah. I am so getting GTA just to downgrade from 2.6 to 2.5!
- timmage89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You can just get them off the Internet. Try googling it.
- drake111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3this is for 1.5s only, meaning you wouldn't be using eloader in the first place :O!
just use the full package links at the top of this thread - Almadiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used the 2.0 downgrader, its pretty scary. You get system errors and screens of garbled text, and the readme doesn't warn you. Three times I thought I had bricked my PSP but it turned out fine.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just like the xbox and the ds eh
- Almadiel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This came at just the right time. I was really torn between updating or not because of the new games that are coming out now (Valkrie Profile, Locoroco). Now I can play them and keep all my homebrew.
Worth noting that you need two PSPs to use this program, one 1.5 PSP and one 2.6 PSP, otherwise you can't decrypt the firmware. Though if you know where to look you can find a "full version" that comes with the decrypted firmware files included. - jcz1978, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Well child molester fans from the Netherlands, n00bs, and hypocritical asshats aside, having a backup flashrom is an excellent idea for a device so easily ruined by a firmware change. BTW, that looks nothing like Crazy_8...
- sei0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow am I the only one who is having problems installing all this stuff?
# Download Devhook 0.44 and put everything on the memory stick as usual.
# Download the 2.71 Firmware update from our site.
# Open the EBOOT.PBP with PBP Unpacker or a similar application and extract the DATA.PSAR file.
# Put the DATA.PSAR in the root of the memory stick. (Not in any folder)
# Run the included Devhook installer on the PSP (install flash0 and flash1).
# Extract Devhook 0.44 again and overwrite everything in the dh folder (its going to be a couple of .txt files which include the path for the prx's)
# Use the 2.71 Decrypter to obtain your own copy of a decrypted reboot.bin file, or make use of Google to find one online
# Place reboot.bin in ms0:dh1reboot.bin
The last 2 steps I cannot complete. I've been trying for literally HOURS to get this thing to work. I need Grand theft auto to actually get eLoader to work? How the hell do I get an encrypted reboot to then decrypt it?... I'd highly appreciate help. - sei0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aha! Fantastic! I've figured it out. Somehow! Thankyou anyway xD
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Awesome if they can keep this up the PSP will start selling like hot cakes!!
- screwl1fe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2awesome, finally Ill get to browse newgrounds.com :)
- CoolDude330, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6I think Sony should just take out all the security in the next firmware. Hackers are just going to get into it eventually...
- kill3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1hahahah
- HiTm4n84, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have the old motherboard...but unfortunately i downloaded 2.71. Anyone know if a downgrader for 2.71 is 'out and working' yet? If so please hit me up on AIM (on profile). Thanks.
- jeri2good, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is the best thing since fried chicken.!
