- captainwtf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I hope they don't rush the game.. take your time Bungie.
- StingerMS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11They rushed Halo 2 and it was only half as good as the first.
PLEASE don't rush Halo 3. I've waited two years, I can wait an extra month or two. - troye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'll be in Iraq by then. The girlfriend can ship it over for me.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think the beta is the last thing they need to work on before it's released. I have a fealing that the game is done but they're just polishing up the game as best they can before it's released. The beta is simply to stress test their online portion because they know a *****-ton of people are going to be playing this game at once.
I really, REALLY hope that Halo 3 is like the original Halo. Halo 2 seemed like it was an Unreal Tournament mod with a campaign as an afterthought. Here's to hoping they'll actually do online co-op. - guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Um, rushed? The game has been worked on for the past couple of years, and probably nearly if not every day. This release date sounds like it's about the right time for it to come out.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The reason why they are releasing GTAIV on the 360 and the PS3 is because the install base of PS3 systems were expected to be very limited. If Konami only expects to sell 5 million copies of MGS4 to PS3 users (I'm guessing that the PS3 will sell 5 million total by the time MGS4 comes out; also assuming ever owner will buy the game) then that to me is a very stupid business move.
If they do decide to port the game to other consoles then it would make perfect sense to take advantage of the larger install base. MGS4 has been a VERY expensive game to make. If they do end up limiting the game to only the PS3 it will take them years to make their money back. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, I'm sure Microsoft would like that $100 M+ end of the fiscal year boost.
- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3in any case, they're going to try to sell it before MGS4, or around that same time, along with a price-drop on some systems.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Not likely, Bungie and MS has had -- up till now -- excellent fit and finish on its games. For a game that is likely to be the biggest seller of 2007, i doubt they'll ship before its time. Its a sure success, no need to rush it.
- jpt62089, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I say November. :)
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7You fail at the Internet.
- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I would like nothing more than to see Halo 3 out as early as possible. But all my years of following the game industry says Halo 3 won't be out until late October or early December. With a few exceptions all major blockbuster games* come out in or around November. I'll believe this article when I see the game on the shelves in September.
*(Halos 1-2, GTA:SA, MGS 2-3, TLOZ: TP (Wii and GCN), Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, and Gears of War) - DevinOlsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ wageslave1
I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Bungie ADMITTED to releasing Halo 2 earlier then they should have... - thasmadawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hopefully the goddamn beta comes out soon... I'm getting impatient.
- raymore, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I sure am glad that Sony rushed and came out with an amazing system in the PS3. *sarcasm*
- alvinrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know if there's any truth to this, but I recall reading that Konami might port MGS4 to the Xbox360 sometime after it's been released on the PS3, which makes the game much less of a big deal in terms of Microsoft trying to counter its release. They released a few of the other games that were on the PS2 for the original Xbox, so I could definitely see it happening.

"games? where we're going, we don't need games." - DreamVsPs2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is good news and bad news.
Good news: We get to play it in September.
Bad News: Might be rushed, downloaded maps might not make it on the disk, but DLC instead ( not free). - Conglomerate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Halo 2 was the top earning title in all of entertainment( this includes movies, albums, and games) on opening day, earning $200 million+, Halo 3 will probably beat that.
- sinderphytik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They couldn't make a map pack for Halo 1. The Dead or Alive 3 developers were smart, leaving hooks in the game to allow for future content to be patched into the game -- Bungie made no similar provision. Obviously, they anticipated future map packs for Halo 2, and thus built these "hooks" into Halo 2. Thus, there was a map pack (physical media disc and eventually DLC) made available for Halo 2 that one summer, but never one for Halo 1.
- jr8rulz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I too say November, to get the "holiday shopping" dollars. Most people aren't into the buying mood for a large item purchase (like a 360 would be for this game to increase console sales like everyone hopes). I say November 6th!!!!!!
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I think it's smart to go for a September launch.
This way, Halo 3 can be THE killer app for the entire month, and wont have to worry about competing with the other big time names (Mario, Metal Gear Solid, etc.) that are going to release in October and November.
Could be a great move for Microsoft, now let's all hope the game delivers! - Sarethix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hear hear! I'll probably get the xbox 360 by then ;P maybe the price'll drop
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, from what we've seen it seems like Halo1 rather than Halo2 - which is a good thing.
Kind of like how with C&C3 EA actually managed to not butcher it and go back to [some of] the original formula. - SSCrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been expecting Early November.
The previous two games launch in the beginning of November.
I guess we shall wait and see. - rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i wonder how many people will be left to play h2 when the beta comes out?....3 or 4 people?
- copaceticZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As a huge halo 2 fan and avid hater of Gears of War I just want to say that gears of war sucks a lot its pathetic in fact glitchy and horrible really if you play halo 2 for a while you won't every really be able to play another game with any sense of satisfaction i hear about all of these computer games people are talking about but really they aren't the same and never will be see what you have with a console game is an even playing field(everyone has same controller/video card) nobody out there has a bigger monitor or better mouse or a lot of times with pc gaming it comes down to who has the bigger pc not who has the best reflexes i mean obviously connections matter as well and while were at it why do people feel the need to exploit cheats in gaming all the time bah!
and also in regards to the scott miller interview (if anyone saw it) ***** mouse aim its stupid and skilless i'd just like to say that :) - FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4That's so smart. Gears spurred tons of sales late last year and Halo will more than likely do the same. That is genius. It's genius because I suckered up and bought a 360 and I love it.
My gamer id is the same as my digg name too! - Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@raymore
Reading comprehension not your strong suite? All of those games listed came out in or around November. - alvinrod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was simply pointing out that the same people who are likely to want to buy the Xbox360 for Halo 3 (people who like FPS games) may have already done so when Gears of War came out. They know that Halo 3 will eventually make it out so why not pick up the console for Gears of War?
I see the fanboi community took this as some kind of attack on the Xbox360's ability to sell well. So go ***** yourselves, and good day. - fauxXenophanes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2No matter how long it takes in the end they always say it was " rushed ". I can't imagine what it must be like to deal with deadlines all day at work. Halo 2 took forever to release and now they say the team was pushed for a faster release date than what they wanted, OMFG !!
- Gaffigan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't wait for this game ^.^
Look out for Corn Chips on XBL come September =D - trubbleshute, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So you're the one that kept making my team lose by trying to get the chainsaw kills. For the last time man, ain't nothing wrong with the shotgun.
- dRuNk3nIrIsHmEn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"And I heard there are no respawn spots in the Army."
- Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Are you kidding? Halo3 is the main reason people want an Xbox 360. I hated Gears of War, alot of other people don't think its their cup of tea either. The multiplayer is retarded and completely unbalanced. 8 players? What a joke! If you bought your 360 for gears of war, I really feel sorry for you. Lets not forget ALOT of younger kids like halo. Not all of the young generation can play gears because of the gore and language. The only thing Gears REALLY has is Graphics. This will be overcome completely with the newer game releases. I'm pretty sure people still won't be talking about Gears of War's graphics when Crysis comes out.
- yoble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Wow! Sweet, dugg it.
- LivingPharaoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it is smart of them to wait exactly that long to release it. There needs to be a demand, and that is not going to happen without making people wait, even if the product was already finished.
This is slightly off topic, but the only thing that bugs me is that it never occurs to Bungie to make a map pack for Halo: CE as they did with Halo 2 (which most people downloaded online anyway). I know a TON of people that would buy it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0preorder yours at

If you are a Marine, you have have the scenario down. ha. - whickywhickyjim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1halo3? more like gaylo3! Amiright?
- RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I'm glad Mr. Gates promised us all Halo 3 would be out the same time the PS3 would be.
Oh wait. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@ crackedplastic
I sourced this site because it links to both websites, not just IGN. - arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I never heard any news on this, but... what happened to launching it on the same day as the PS3? Did it get delayed?
- crackedplastic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2If 1up and IGN say Halo 3 in September, then why was a blogspam link submitted?
SOURCE: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/772/772950p1.html - alvinrod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way, but I don't think that Halo 3 is going to move as many systems as people keep thinking it will. I think that we already saw the huge surge when Gears of War launched on the system. There are probably a few more people holding out for Halo 3, but I think the vast majority were already pulled in by Gears of War. If they coupled the launch of Halo 3 with a price drop it would probably create a huge splash, but I don't really forsee them doing that either since they just started turning a profit from the Xbox 360, and even though Microsoft has deep pockets, I don't think they want to throw money down the drain any longer than they have to.

"But all my years of following the game industry says Halo 3 won't be out until late October or early December. With a few exceptions all major blockbuster games*..."
Halo 3 just may be another exception, if you take into account that the first two are listed under your exceptions. And I do agree. Ha.

@neiltc13
I wish GTA would just go away, and I hope the ***** 14 year olds don't buy into this one as much as the last forty-two or however many there have been. That game(all included) is the same ***** thing over and over and over again, with no true upgrades in my opinion. At least Halo you have no clue how it could play out, until you actually play it out. Just sayin'. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Anyone who thinks that Halo 3 will be the 'biggest seller of 2007' clearly hasn't taken into account that Grand Theft Auto IV is coming this year and is MULTIPLATFORM on release.
- ltuspud, on 10/12/2007, -19/+3If anybody rushes the game it will be Microsoft...
