- lukemit, on 11/19/2008, -0/+19Great list, but 19 separate pages!?... come on...
- 10goto10, on 11/19/2008, -0/+19Ah, classics from the early digital era when computers where incapable of displaying content on one page. Remember how you had to keep clicking next, next, next, next, next, next, next...
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+10No Robotron? FAIL
- JParsons4, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8Yeah so, where's Joust?
- tawnos, on 11/18/2008, -3/+11Superman 64 Epic Fail.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7Buried for 19 pages.
- funkrusher, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7Intruder Alert!" "Intruder Alert!" "Chicken fight like a Robot!"
- V1ncent, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7A nice list but the problems are no matter who makes the list opinions vary. Pac Man missing was weird.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6we got a kill screen coming up
- 2Bnor2B, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6Thankfully, these games will live on forever because of open source projects like MAME
http://www.mamedev.com/ - kerrickter, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6Epic Fail. Asteroids, Battlezone, Track & Field, Galga, & Space Invaders
- Chaotics, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6“Hey, this guy is a phony!”
His write up for Contra is completely inaccurate. The game he is actually describing is Ikara Warriors. - homercles337, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4I recognized most of those from just the pic. Me so ord and ronery. :(
- scribat, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4I'd love to read through all nine seperate pages but I can't be bothered.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Warrior needs food badly.
- NathanielJ, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5I loved Paperboy as a kid, but the collision detection always seemed off to me due to the strange angle it was played at. The paperboy would sorta-almost-barely graze a sewer grate and he'd crash to the ground.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4What I loved about Paperboy is that you scored points for smashing the windows in of people who weren't a paper subscriber.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Would have been better on one page but a nice nostalgia trip
- billizm, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Gauntlet ruled.
- flynnfx, on 11/19/2008, -2/+519 ***** seperate pages?!?! BURIED.
- harris2004, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4My favorites: Centipede, Street Fighters, Mario Bros.
- riptor666, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Donkey Kong is pretty hard I can only get to Level 7 with 188.5k points but the hardest classic game would have to go to Frogger, every point is a struggle in that game and the fact that it's absent from this list is disturbing. The reflexes required for the first 10k points is outrageous. I have no idea how people can get scores of a few hundred k.
- Peko, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3I see your Frogger and raise you a Defender.
- derpoopflinger, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4screw you and your slide show, buried because of it
- TVo14, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4What? Wheres Defeneder? Stargate? Bump N Jump and of course the original Star Wars arcade game. "Red 5 Standing By"
- marcduke, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3720 would have been a good one for this list. It was the first game that I remember having multiple choices of things to play and having a somewhat open environment to move around in. That and it was hard as hell.
- zydeco, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Considering this writer was born in 1981 or later (says he was 12 playing a 1993 NBA Jam), I wouldn't read much into this article. It's shovelware.
And again, no Robotron. Idiot. - pudds, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Slideshows fail.
- marcduke, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3that was pretty interesting documentary
- riptor666, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2OH look I get to fly through more ***** rings.
- doktorrocket, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2I always struggled with Paperboy, probably because it was the first game I played where you couldn't continually spam the "fire" button. You actually had limited ammo (papers) and even worse, THINGS YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO HIT. Like windows. Oops.
- arcooke, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2NBA Jam is my favorite sports game of all time.
He's on fire! - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3My two favorites weren't there! Crystal Castles, and Tetrus! Were any of these people around back then?
- marcduke, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2True enough, but they did have Ms. Pac-Man which to me was more the more memorable game. I can still get my Dad to sit down a play a game when we come across an old tabletop version. Just like we did when I was a kid.
I bought him one of those plug-in-play Ms. Pacman games for Christmas a few years back - we couldn't get him to come up for dinner. :) - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Where is Killer Instinct? C-C-C-C-C-C-OMBO BREAKER! (The most satisfying way to rack up points. EVER.)
- aydoubleyou, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2No Defender Stargate? Such a great game... First video game I ever played.
My Dad still has the original working arcade cabinet in his garage. Never gets old. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Such an awful game...
I remember as a kid throwing my controller and breaking it because of that game. I'm not the type to have anger problems, but superman 64... - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2I stopped clicking after 3 pages. I have a Super Mutant Behemoth to destroy tonight.
- Peko, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Or even a smash tv.
- Peko, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Tetris.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Berzerk! :)
- Gizmort, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Robotron and Smash TV are just the best. Also you would have to add Qix for it to be a complete list for me.
- ReggieNoble, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Galaga, man. I turned it over in 1997.
Galaxian, Xenophobe.
Good name drops with Elevator Action and Jungle Hunt. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2LOVED Joust!
- EtherGnat, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Shots do not hurt other players.... yet.
- stormofswords, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2ULLLLLLTTRRAAAAA ULLLLLLLTTTRAAAA ULLLLTTRAAAAA
I tore the ***** out of my left thumb playing that game. I had to tape it up with athletic tape so I could keep playing. - kevinmoore, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2Dugg for Spy Hunter. I wasted so much money on that game.
- gobbleplex, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Seriously. I used to love fighting Orchid users with their 60 hit combos that barely dent your health. Break it 1/4 of the way through and then retort with a Spinal 6 - 13 hit combo and take off about as much health as they wish they could with 40.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1I remember most of those...good times. It is amazing how far games have come. I can't even imagine what they'll be like in 10 years. Chrono Trigger should have been on there though, that baby was timeless.
- shipwreck58, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Well Gauntlet was money and I spewed a lot of change into Ms. pac-Man and Tron, but where was Defender? And Robotron and well pretty much any WIlliams Bros game which were some of the best.
