- Lane, on 11/24/2007, -7/+89*the Wii's in question were sold at $79.99 each for the first 1000. Honestly even if you arent a fan for $20 more then a last gen console you would have been crazy to pass this up.
- venom8599, on 11/24/2007, -2/+70I've still never seen a Wii sitting on a store shelf, even a year after launch. Crazy stuff.
- whatthefu, on 11/24/2007, -10/+76Holydays?
- Renton, on 11/24/2007, -2/+62It's kind of funny. I remember last year, Sony said they only had a few hundreds of systems for launch and Nintendo had around 4 million. Everybody was planning to camp out to buy PS3s to make a profit on ebay and saying the would be able to just walk into a store and buy a Wii.
One year later, the Wii is still out of stock worldwide, and now it's the one being sold on ebay for a profit and PS3s are just sitting on store shelves. - DigitAl56K, on 11/24/2007, -1/+41When are Wii's going to be generally available without these supply problems? Honestly, manufacturing the Wii has to be like printing money for Nintendo, it's amazing that they're still so hard to find.
- willfe, on 11/24/2007, -2/+41Well, at least the demand's low enough that you can probably find them :)
- Easyoffbam, on 11/24/2007, -2/+33To get dugg down you need to either:
1-Speak in leetspeak so that virtually nobody can understand you
2-SPEAK IN ALL CAPS
3-Be one of those 'fanboys' who never stops ***** talking about how the Xbox 360/PS3/Apple/PC sucks or is the best thing in the entire world and has absolutely nothing wrong with it.
4-All of the above. - monkeysaurus, on 11/24/2007, -1/+30He's probably using reverse psychology, wanting to be dug up. Or maybe not. Best to keep him at zero to be sure.
- killermk, on 11/24/2007, -9/+35A year past and it's still selling like this, just amazing.
- Mewchu11, on 11/24/2007, -0/+24RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!
- darkchild82, on 11/24/2007, -2/+25i think that was intentional...u know, with holy festivals like Hanukkah on the way & all that. either that or he has poor English. :-)
- Lunarbunny, on 11/24/2007, -1/+24Actually the etymology of "holiday" is holy + day. While this is probably just an accident it's pretty much correct :p
- DavidGX, on 11/24/2007, -2/+23Aww, poor little fanboy.
- felman87, on 11/24/2007, -4/+24Nintendo Wii (11503)
Sony Playstation 3 (968)
Microsoft Xbox 360, 360 Elite (2708)
Looks like people are buying it just to hock it off on ebay. - TheNeonNinja, on 11/24/2007, -4/+23Dang I'm glad I got one at launch.
- meed, on 11/24/2007, -0/+17at thanksgiving dinner someone mentioned that their wive's mother had given their grand children guitar hero 3 for the wii. He said "Now all I got to do is find a Wii" and told him good luck.
- cvrefugee, on 11/24/2007, -5/+20THIS...IS...TARGET!!!
- Kelmon, on 11/24/2007, -0/+14Are you using your ass to type? Please stop and see a therapist.
- flair1, on 11/24/2007, -1/+15get a Wii component cable for $5 on ebay. that will help. with the graphics. also invite girls over to play the wii. then get em drunk. You can't do this with a 360.
- BlueSkyfish, on 11/24/2007, -4/+17That would be the smart thing to do. The demand is astronomical. I bet a bunch of people have a system of buying and selling Wiis on ebay. After all, it prin- no, all ready got yelled at for that meme today.
- iticu, on 11/24/2007, -0/+12I don't normally like the Wii either, but ..
Wii + Christmas + loads of Family = Fun - cvrefugee, on 11/24/2007, -2/+13I was looking for a good Wii deal on FatWallet last night, when I refreshed the page at 12:09AM PST and saw a post saying "Wii Available now at Amazon". Clicked on the link and bought two consoles (one for a gift and the other to resell to my coworker). It sucks that some people had to camp out early on Black Friday while I clicked a few links and got the same result.
- JOJOFACE, on 11/24/2007, -2/+12Man, I thought it was impressive that the Target I work at sold 57 Wii's in less than an hour about two weeks ago. This is insanity.
- Seren2399, on 11/24/2007, -2/+12The word Holiday is derived from Holy Day. Holidays originally represented special religious days. This word has evolved in general usage to mean any special day of rest (as opposed to regular days of rest such as the weekend).
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+9Oooh - you're HARDCORE.
- zofobread, on 11/24/2007, -4/+13Buried for being misleading. Amazon was running a day after Thanksgiving special and was selling the Wii for $79.00, thus the ridiculous sales numbers in just 10 minutes.
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8You could become pretty rich with that device you have that allows you to kick people in the face over the internet...
- fliped, on 11/24/2007, -1/+9No. Think of it this way. Nintendo has sold about 13 million Wiis since launch and its been about a year. That's about 1 million a month, 3333 a day, 138 an hour, 2 a minute. I don't think they could make them any faster. Why would they do it anyways. They want to make money.
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8There's nothing more immature than using the word "fanboy."
Except maybe spelling it "fanboi." Not sure. - ChromaVita, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8I tried that once. She got drunk and passed out, but I couldn't stop playing Super Mario Galaxy for long enough to make a move on her.
- R3Dirkulous, on 11/24/2007, -2/+10actually, I think you couldnt be anymore wrong
- ledguitar, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8It would piss way too many people off if they raised the price $50. It's true that they would probably still be purchased but people to not expect prices to rise 1 year after a product is released. They should have sold it for $300 from launch.
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+7Spellcheck can't tell you when you're using punctuation improperly, though.
("its," by the way.) - liwii, on 11/24/2007, -0/+7When you guys get your Wii's online I recommend adding yours to http://mapwii.com since Nintendo has those crazy 16 digit wii numbers and they don't have any easy way for you to find people locally to play online with - just randomly and regionally.
- felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+7Sounds like he'll be paying scalper prices on eBay. There's no way you want to see your kids' faces when they get Guitar Hero 3 under the tree, and then find out they don't have anything they can play it on.
- adml_shake, on 11/24/2007, -1/+8Your a liar, or Amish.
- xNIBx, on 11/24/2007, -2/+9I guess people didnt get the "i have 3 ps3" reference and buried you.
- Crisender111, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6Are you going to cry? :-(
- noperdd, on 11/24/2007, -1/+7Super Mario Galaxy. Might win game of the year.
- Trucidation, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6In other words, "I don't like any of the other games so they must just suck".
Get over yourself. - felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6Oops. I dug him down to -1. Someone digg him back up to zero.
- robbiedo, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6Ultimately, the real profit is in games, accessories, and downloads.
- KrazyKoala, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6It's also amazing that people keep posting these daily Wii updates. It should only be news when Wiis are available.
- DavidGX, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6I'm not connected to this site in any way whatsoever and am not trying to spam but... www.itrackr.com is what helped me get a Wii. Told me when a local gamestop had some in stock. Got it the first time. To anyone who's still trying to find one, try there.
- veloscaper, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6those aren't the Wiis in the article.
- thebellmaster1x, on 11/24/2007, -10/+15What? B-b-b-b-but--the Wii is just a toy!
...Right?
...Ha, I'm going to go play some more Corruption. At least if Sony fanboys need me to suck my thumb while I play the Wii, I'll be playing a badass game. - felchdonkey, on 11/24/2007, -0/+5Dylson - I'd like a boot to the face. Where will you be doing these?
- KamikazeeDriver, on 11/24/2007, -1/+6and I STILL CAN'T FIND ONE!!!!
argh! - itsameericle, on 11/24/2007, -0/+5You forgot the concept of differentiation. The 360 and PS3 are not substitutes because the Wii is based on motion control. It is different. This difference is why people are flocking to buy the Wii. Since Nintendo has differentiated its product from the others, it DOES have monopolistic control of its own price. It CAN raise the price right now if it wants (with minimal reduction in demand.)
- h4ppydotcom, on 11/24/2007, -0/+4or try reading Pratchett.
