- apena89, on 05/14/2009, -1/+25Sometimes I think maybe I want to join the Army, it's basically like FPS except with better graphics. But what happens if I get lag out there, I'm dead!
- badwithcomputer, on 05/13/2009, -0/+23social benefits are spot on- put a bunch of people in a room who have never met eachother and break out some mario kart. they'll be friends in no time.
- SlowFoodRules, on 05/14/2009, -0/+12being able to contribute to critical medical science [folding@home] is awesome
- digitalpencil, on 05/14/2009, -0/+10NO.. NOT AGAIN. THE MOMENT'S PASSED! WE'RE NOT GOING THROUGH THIS AGAIN!
- chard, on 05/14/2009, -1/+11Can we stop trying to come up with excuses for playing video games? It's getting desperate, can't we just remember games are fun and thats the reason we play them?
- oldenburg06, on 05/13/2009, -0/+10Wow. Lots of angles I hadn't thought of.
- anexanhume, on 05/14/2009, -2/+12IS THIS REAL LIFE?
- thegamingguy, on 05/14/2009, -0/+9"Some might say that all those teenagers "wasting time" on Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 are actually the warfighters of tomorrow, training themselves at zero cost to the U.S. taxpayer."
- itsthemechanic, on 05/14/2009, -2/+11I fail to see how "Military Recruiting and Training" is of any benefit for real life, unless you count getting your ass blown off in some remote third-world country where you shouldn't be in the first place counts as such.
- 3Y3CON, on 05/14/2009, -0/+9I learned more history from Age of Empires then I ever did in school.
- serenejen, on 05/13/2009, -0/+7Now tell that to my mom please...
- phbohn2, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7xbox live teaches you to selectively filter out annoying chatter. a useful skill for cubicle and office settings
- judahhertz, on 05/13/2009, -0/+6Nice story that actually has some truth, well worth reading.
- muxaulo, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

- chaseacej, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6OR IS THIS JUST FANTASY
- diggduggDOOM, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5It most definitely benefits everyone else that would otherwise be exposed to this person.
- bill.clark, on 05/14/2009, -3/+7#13 - They keep the uber-nerds out of society and glued to WoW and EverQuest and the like.

- KalZakath, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3What is this "Real Life" of which you speak?
- jerrycan, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I don't remember any KP or PT in those games....
- executorzz, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Some of the reasons kind of stretch reality.
- DarthVolta, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I agree - I think that the type of strategy that you can learn from games like Halo 3 and COD can be applied in other areas as well.
If you're working with a team to complete an objective, you have to utililze creative problem solving - and that's something that can happen at home on the couch or at work on the desk.
Sorry, I just wrote a resume and I can't stop thinking in buzz words.. - wo0dy, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Learning team work, leadership, following orders from superiors. Competitive counter-strike was very similiar to playing a sport in the team sense. I learned a lot from working with people, some i hated, some i liked, some i admired.
- sprkoolguy, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2NO ESCAPE FROM REALITY
- DillingerSmooth, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2ok that is someone who is reeaaaallllly into video games

It's pretty hardcore, actually. - BedPost, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2This is so true.
- snareguy17, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Couldn't agree more on that.
- EMGroup, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I agree whit the article. Video Games are good for everyone.
- diggduggDOOM, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I'm stuck on the end boss; can you help? Also, they need to tighten up the graphics on level 3.

- CrackyJSquirrel, on 05/14/2009, -1/+2Its always funny until someone gets hurt..... And then its just hilarious..
- TheUngod, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I always noticed the same with Turok 2 and the Monkey multiplayer game. It's hard to hate someone when you're shooting a cerebral bore into their monkey ass.
- MrFisty, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I actually agree with the driving thing. I'm so much better with things like peripheral vision, spotting sudden movements and predicting enemy, I mean other drivers, patterns. All thanks to video games. Same probably applies to my ever increasing waistline.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1What an appropriate nick you have!
- Spacejack, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I checked it out and it's just a bunch of dumbass sims wandering around yelling at each other. It also apparently had been paid for by Starbuck's. They did a good job making everything smell like pee, though.
- avoge, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1including your virginity?
- PlanckTime, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Good list. That drill sergeant in the America's Army picture looks disturbingly like my basic drill instructor did.
- morningmatters, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1Ah, do you really need to come up reasons for wanting to spend your free time while having fun? Videogames does exact that, like other hobbies it helps you to pass time while it keeps you happy. To come up with so many reasons to justify playing games is lame.
- Cyclist110, on 05/14/2009, -0/+0GTA IV is a release for my inner serial killer/road rager.
- diggduggDOOM, on 05/14/2009, -0/+0You mean it wasn't a play on the name of the Descent game(s)?
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -1/+1Now for the 12 ways that video games can potentially ruin "Real Life."
