- dragonablaze, on 11/21/2008, -0/+23Kleenex® Tissues: It's Time To Let It Out
- fuzzynyanko, on 11/21/2008, -0/+22It worked in Crazy Taxi since it added realism, but I don't think it would work with every game.
- hurrayforschool, on 11/21/2008, -0/+15Load of old *****? What the ***** hell.
- Narcism, on 11/21/2008, -0/+14I thought the content was pretty weak.. :/
- Epical, on 11/21/2008, -1/+12No kidding, dugg for that alone.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7i'm surprised we don't see more ads in games
- FrankTheTank17, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7Dugg for the Kleenex ad.
- BuddyDoQ, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3It would probably be more funny if it wasn't so depressingly accurate. Ads are the new DRM, and adblock is the new piracy.
Some publishers will insist we need to have them for the "entire gaming experience", some gamers will insist otherwise with "patches" that actually work.
Avast ye! - soupyc, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3How would you propose then that companies let people know about their products? Word of mouth? That works, but only so far.
Advertising in its CURRENT form may draw negative connotations, but the idea that it needs to go away is absurd. Purely because it wont. It does generate revenue for companies, probably even the one that cuts your check. - NathanielJ, on 11/21/2008, -1/+4In fact, they explicitly said that in-game advertising is NOT new at the top of the list. That's why the list was made.
- KSUdesigner, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Nobody said that in-game advertising was new.
- Huangism, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2no these so wont work
- nerdherder, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Holy ***** it was a joke :/
- cfuse, on 11/22/2008, -0/+11 page of turd is of equal value to 10 pages of turd. Stupid article.
- RyomaNagare, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1So I derived to this other link
http://www.gamesradar.com/f/gaming-commercials-tha ...
the MS-DOS 5.0 Upgrade one is hilarious, and exactly what the PC guy from the mac commercials would do. - smohan123, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1This as close as a submission gets to a "sympathy digg", as it does to a bury. I gave it the digg for no particular reason, but the article was indeed very lame.
- smergs, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Can anyone copy paste for us blocked at work?
- JakeyG14, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1The funniest one is a kleenex banner attached to an airplane in a screenshot of DOA:Extreme Volleyball.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+3Buried- where's the funny?
- Handz2heaven, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Nice idea, although i can't imagine Kleenex signing of the budget for that one off!
- terracottapai, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1hellz yeah
- MakiMaki, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2That personal attack wasn't necessary dude. I did you no wrong and you don't know who I am, nor do I know who you are.
Let me clarify once and for all, I DON'T TAKE MONEY. I don't work for gamesradar. I don't know anyone there. I just like the site and happen to get to their stories before other users, is there something wrong about that? Why the hate?
If you're unsatisfied, do an independent investigation on your own and email abuse@digg if you have any proof. I'll be the first to tell you that you won't find anything. Because there's nothing there. You're wrong, bro. - daschupa, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1World of Warcraft could probably use some match.com ads.
- bab7880, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1yes... while it won't go away, my perfect world is one without ads, where the monopoly ends up the standard....
but what really gets me is the idea here of ads in video games -- if you want to give me a game, ok, i might put up with some ads -- but now when i already paid $60+ for the game.
I stand by my opinion against ads, but know that they wont go away, and the most advertising the company I work does is an 1/8 page add in the local phone book (no billboards, no TV spots, no radio spots, mabye the occasional newspaper, but i wouldnt know since i've learned to ignor the ads)
I use Opera and block every add I see (and sometimes hear). I buy season's of shows on DVD so that I won't have to put up with commercials (I'm a definite channel surfer when it comes to commercials -- i never really get the whole show first time through... ooh -- and i love bittorrent for this same reason (even though I still buy the season)
I guess my biggest dislike of advertising is the fact that in some forms it is tax dedutable (as is gambling loss) --- but this is from the same guy who thinks any money that given to charity outside the US should be taxed the piss off of -- and I'm a republican (radical republican, i guess) - Barackalypse, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2The only ad that would ever work in a game would be an ad for Adblock Plus, and that ad would go something like "Tired of seeing ads everywhere, block them and never see them again".
- ShiftyBizniss, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Wow, someone wasted a good chunk of time on really boring Photoshopping
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Is this irony I cannot tell anymore.
- pdxa4, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1wow them old farts are smart, they play Mario Kart on a PS2!
- Xtanto, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1Dead or Alive.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+2Dude, you're ON the internet typing that message. The internet will give you more nudity in a second than that game can provide after hours of gameplay. Think about it.
- Gamer4111, on 02/11/2009, -0/+0Those ads would be cool to see...

http://www.videogamerdaily.com/ - nerdherder, on 11/21/2008, -2/+2I need to know what game that is with the girls in bikinis, because.... uh.... it looks fun! Yeah, thats why!
- darlingt, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1I think that the Excedrin, Turtle Wax, and Shell advertisements would work well. The others... I could live with them, but it wouldn't make me notice them.
- AEnkryption, on 11/22/2008, -0/+0Dugg for loads of old *****.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+2Wonder how much MakiMaki gets paid by gamesradar, since just about all of their front page stories are submitted by him.
- bab7880, on 11/21/2008, -3/+2Advertising is the cause of most of the problems in the United States.
I'd much rather pay a premium for quality content without ads, then have to live in a world of advertising.
I hate the New Xbox Experience because of this.
I think advertising of any sort should be illegal (it's harsh, but I see advertising as purely negative)
If a game is good, people will pay for it, there does not need to be adds to draw more revenue.
Here's a tip for the government -- tax money spent on advertising -- ever $1 spent on ads costs you another $0.25 to Uncle Sam -- and thats if you want to advertise in the United States in ANY form
sorry for the rant, but it's something i feel strongly for - MisterEX, on 11/21/2008, -4/+1What were all the games?
- scabbers, on 11/21/2008, -6/+1There's some long-defuct banner ad in dust2. This ***** is not new.
*although that was at least a free map in a free mod - nickert0n, on 11/21/2008, -10/+2Wow it would be great if they were actually real and not photoshopped in like a tasteless wanabee website that trying to fit in with the cool kids.
