Please no! What makes HL2 great, is that it gives the player a feeling of control and imagination, even when it is linear. Being forced into a relationship by the games story would ruin it for me. - Orsenfelt, on 06/11/2009, -0/+59All I care about is who the hell is G-man. It's been driving me nuts since HL2 came out and Valve, the glorious bastards they are, have had me at every goddamn turn.
- bdickason, on 06/11/2009, -6/+64I've been meaning to play EP2 forever but whenever I load steam my cursor magically goes to TF2 o_O
- bubgz, on 06/11/2009, -2/+54God damn it, Valve. Why do you release games so quickly. Or wait... Not quickly enough. Which is it again?
- Scrappy1850, on 06/10/2009, -20/+71***** you babyman, long live Freeman!
- MofS, on 08/13/2009, -0/+42You're missing out.
- PlusTheBear, on 06/11/2009, -0/+39Girls are made of polygons in real life too.
- NeverReturnKid, on 06/11/2009, -0/+31You did already in the first Half-Life. His name then was Nihilanth.
- Laughto, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3011. A cameo from John Freeman, Gordon Freeman's brother
- 471776, on 06/11/2009, -1/+27Play EP2. Best installment in the series yet.
- alexray0, on 06/11/2009, -2/+27Working on Left 4 Dead 3.
- SquishyMon, on 06/11/2009, -0/+22don't worry, you still have PLENTY of time
- insanekoz, on 06/11/2009, -0/+21How about Gordon Frohman?
- Deemo, on 06/11/2009, -2/+21I thought the point of episodic content was to release games every couple months instead of every couple years
- damnshoes, on 06/11/2009, -0/+18hl2? more like the HALF-LIFE demo! I still have the demo on a cd. :-P
- jeremyadam, on 06/12/2009, -0/+17How about Morgan Freeman? Gordon's brotha from a different motha.
- damnshoes, on 06/11/2009, -0/+17i dont like your theory, theres no "wow" to it.
- Scrappy1850, on 06/11/2009, -3/+19why?
- oMeSSiaHo, on 06/11/2009, -1/+17You wouldnt make out with Alyx Vance?!
- Paal, on 06/11/2009, -1/+17This guy is an idiot -- a kiss? Really?? Grow up and kiss a girl yourself.
Furthermore, why on earth does he think that G-Man is even remotely benevolent? There has been almost nothing that indicates this to me at all. He's at best, a meddling third-party; but, he seems most intent on just making sure that everyone just has an overall rotten time. - Marlorn, on 06/11/2009, -0/+14Would you want them to turn out games as fast as EA just so they can patch it week after week? Lesser of two evils I suppose.
- Mejogid, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13In fairness, they've improved from every decade to every few years, perhaps if they released it one map at a time?
- Secret7000, on 06/11/2009, -1/+14Hm. Yes to some of it, but a lot of these have clearly been chosen to fill 10 questions.
- No to "team-based" combat. I found having to travel with teams in HL2 often frustrating and slow-paced compared to the better moments.
- Adrian Sheppard - why? He was in one expansion pack. I'd say yes to more Barney - he's a very relatable character who is the only one to comment on the absurdity of Freeman's actions sometimes (all that MIT training to put a plug into a socket) but I couldn't care less about Sheppard.
- Gordon and Alex kiss. I'm having trouble thinking of a way it could be done and not be utterly rubbish. - Dream0Weaver, on 06/11/2009, -2/+14Wuss.
- damnshoes, on 06/11/2009, -9/+20I want to fight MrBabyMan as the final boss.
- MasterGrief, on 06/12/2009, -0/+11If someone else didn't mention him, I was going to. Concerned was the best game-powered comic I've ever read. For those of you who haven't had the fortune to see it, here you go:

It's ended, sadly, but you can still read the archive. Great stuff. - PlusTheBear, on 06/11/2009, -7/+18Dugg
- mitrovarr, on 06/12/2009, -1/+10Half-Life 2 Episode 3 needs to wrap some stuff up. Half-Life 2 was beautifully atmospheric, but it really does seem like the writers have written themselves into a hole; it seems very difficult that the G-man could ever be made to make sense, nor that humanity could really beat the combine and carve out a place in the universe for themselves (hell, is the Earth even habitable long-term anymore in the Half-Life universe?) Basically the game universe needs to start making more sense and stop being mysterious for the point of being mysteeeeeerious - you can get away with that for a while, but eventually the audience gets disgusted and wanders off (see also: Lost.)
Basically, a plot that is mysterious and enigmatic is usually so for one of two reasons: Because it is complex, deep, and inventive, or because it is random and there is no coherent backstory. Because understanding the plot is beyond you, or because there's nothing to understand. Valve needs to convince us that the Half-Life 2 world is a case of the former, because I'm starting to suspect the latter, and I doubt I'm the only one. - xcrico, on 06/12/2009, -3/+12Here is their list:
10. Why did the G-Man save Alyx at Black Mesa?
9. What significance will Aperture Science and the Borealis play?
8. We want to use the Portal gun!
7. Improved enemy A.I. and weapons
6. More team-based battles
5. More of that "you against the world" vibe
4. More Barney and Adrian Sheppard
3. A Gordon and Alyx kiss
2. Who is the G-Man aka "our mutual friend"?
1. When is the damn game coming out? - Secret7000, on 06/11/2009, -0/+9Yeah. Enough of that.
- morel42, on 06/11/2009, -2/+10Seriously. .What the hell are you doing Valve?
- Dylson, on 06/11/2009, -2/+9That time of month for ya?
- shinyplastic, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7my theory is that the writers don't even know yet. they created g-man in hl1 to put a face on the oppression, but i'm sure they hadn't completely worked out the details.
all great horror movie writers know that it is much more effective to keep your monster mysterious and unseen (a la Alien). why should they tell you who he is? it's driving you nuts and you'll keep buying the game for that tiny lit bit of background info they make up. no matter how clever they are, you will feel disappointment if they reveal too much. enjoy it, use your imagination. - A11YND, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7Please let the Borealis have a back-up of GLADos.
- Firespray1138, on 06/11/2009, -1/+8The hell with all that other *****, I just want to know when the damn game is out.
- eliomar, on 06/11/2009, -1/+8I finally finished the game. I love it. Please help me spread the word to the nonbelivers out there in the gaming world. For freeman shall cleanse them with his mighty crowbar if they disagree. Oh, and i hate the strider.
- keviniskool, on 06/12/2009, -0/+6Also, how would the vortigaunts, if they are in a computer simulation controlled by the g-man, be able to restrain him as they do at the beginning of Episode 1?
- Dream0Weaver, on 06/11/2009, -0/+6He doesn't rape aliens, he penetrates them with his large crowbar!
- zdiddy85, on 06/11/2009, -3/+9well I reported YOU! :P
- chaosblade77, on 06/11/2009, -1/+6Valve did admit that the episodic content thing didn't work out as planned. I doubt they'll take that route again unless they are sure it will work out better.
Not trying to be an apologist, that doesn't set things right, but at least they realize and admit their mistake. - Secret7000, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Presumably the Vortigaunts who ***** up gman's plans are hackers.
- MofS, on 08/13/2009, -1/+6My theory is that the HL world is actually a computer simulation and that the gman is from "real life" which is how he can control the simulation so easily. The simulation is probably a show or something people in "real life" watch for entertainment and Gordon is the main character. The gman and his benefactors [as he calls them] (who gain money from the show) created that alien invasion for entertainment purposes and he always is sort of encouraging Gordon and congratulating him and I think watching his back because Gordon provides good entertainment as the main character.
- ZenMojo, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6HL2 ep 1 and 2 were expansion packs.
- Atomic1fire, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Ive never played half live (played tf2 and tfc once)
but wasn't that the plot from the Truman show.
minus the aliens - insanekoz, on 06/11/2009, -0/+5Maybe a peck on the cheek?
- estee0703, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4what about george foreman?
- Chizz44, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4I would pay 5-10 bucks for a DLC for all Half-Life (1,2 and the episodes) that would zoom in to the GMan when you saw him and gave you a cutscene that let you hear what he said! That would rock! Tell me you wouldn't!?!?
- MasterGrief, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4Well, I dugg you for the effort, but I don't think this is the case. I think most fans would be pretty angry if it turned out everything you ever did in a Half Life game was not only pointless in the real world, but also pointless in the game's world. I would certainly be.
- leland1, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4Gordon Freeman will be become environmentally Green-aware in HL3:
1. He will ride Antlions like horses to move around the map, instead of using gas-powered vehicles. Giddy up!
2. He will reprogram the Head Crab Zombies to fight the zombies in L4D2 so that he could recycle their evil intent during the Zombie Apocalypse.
3. He will kill the Head Crab creatures, but instead of leaving the carcasses around, he will roast them and sell them at the supermarket -- they should taste like chicken. - ParticleMan420, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4or Red Foreman!
he could call G-Man a dumbass -
