FTA regarding Goro:
"Remember this four-armed badass? This inconsiderate piece of garbage had a complete disregard for escalating health insurance premiums. Who pulls off people's limbs every chance they get? Those things don't grow on trees, after all"
Actually, limbs do grow on trees. - IvenomI, on 01/23/2009, -1/+38Link's was the only one I found amusing.
- torressr3, on 01/23/2009, -0/+34Buried for being stupid has hell.
- awtripp, on 01/23/2009, -1/+21Obviously a last minute idea for an article. Pretty pathetic. A slight chuckle, maybe two.
If IGN keeps putting out ***** like this its going to be bad for their own wallet. - FrankTheTank17, on 01/23/2009, -0/+19I'm not sure if you can list the Burnout Driver considering the fact that there's no driver in your car in the game.
- mrmontrose, on 01/23/2009, -0/+16You know what else is harmful to the economy? Having what looks like embedded video, that really send you to their video player /video browser page.
It is 2009, you would think IGN would have the resources to embed their own video content. - 7m7uf, on 01/23/2009, -0/+14That's one more than me.
- andrewglover87, on 01/23/2009, -3/+15"Remember Goro?"
No. - Sraser, on 01/23/2009, -0/+11What about Mario!?
He just runs around destroying brick structures with the crown of his head to reap the golden rewards. Not only is he taking money but he is doing it through the destruction of the cities and villages that the land of Koopa rely upon to shelter them from the harsh elements.
I mean, it rains ***** spiked turtles there for god's sake! - inactive, on 01/23/2009, -0/+10http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2003/03/21/
- theafroguy, on 01/23/2009, -0/+10I would describe this as the most worthless piece of games journalism ever written, but that would be overly optimistic.
- BradOFarrell, on 01/23/2009, -2/+12What a terrible article.
- nublet, on 01/23/2009, -0/+9i didn't realize umbrella was a character...
- pitchblack16, on 01/22/2009, -3/+12I always knew that Link secretly worked for Ganon...That little bastard.
- cyrix, on 01/23/2009, -0/+7I think the whoosh is on you in this case. So.... WHOOSH
- UselessTrivia, on 01/23/2009, -0/+8What do you expect. It's on IGN. The writing is terrible, the reviews are terrible, the site layout is terrible and their scores are bought and paid for by the publishers.
- FacePuncher, on 01/23/2009, -0/+6wtf kind of article is this *****?!?
- Tbyrd073, on 01/23/2009, -0/+5But ohplease is correct. Trees do have limbs.
- Wizardo55, on 01/23/2009, -0/+5More like he gets the princess BECAUSE he gets all the money.
- jennicamorel, on 01/23/2009, -1/+6I'm not sure the author understands how the economy works. The crashes in burnout would be a huge boost to the economy. After insurance payouts, dozens of car companies would have people buying their cars. Repairshops all over would get new business. More people have to be hired to meet the demand.
Same is true for most of these
I'll concede to Sonic though. Hording that money hurts the economy - 7m7uf, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4Saibot
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4Wow, there wasn't a single moment where this author wasn't reaching too far to make the connection.
- flamyngo, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4Oh that's easy...
Orc
Tauren
Blood Elf
Night Elf
Gnome
...you get it... as long as we keep playing that damn game, we aren't spending any money on entertainment! - CoD4, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4n00b
- Asheis, on 01/23/2009, -0/+3IGN.. shouldn't ever write a top ten list again.
- cyrix, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2You're an idiot. The article said limbs, as in human limbs, don't grow on trees, They are correct. ohplease made a joke by stating that limbs, as in tree limbs, grow on trees. Which they do. Calm the ***** down. You missed the joke on his behalf. So AGAIN.....WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Christ almighty. - Mujokan, on 01/23/2009, -0/+33/10 for effort.
- nerdherder, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Hey, lolwut,
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHH. - babar77, on 01/23/2009, -0/+3I think the authors choice of Luke Skywalker over the empire was their most obvious mistake. I mean the Empire lead by the Sith essentially strived to destroy the market economies and regulate everything. It was a totalitarian socialist regime (which even went as far as cloning), and somehow the guy fighting to bring back freedom, markets, and diversity is the bad guy to the economy?
What gives? - cl2yp71c, on 01/23/2009, -0/+3Don't forget Spiderman.
I feel sorry for all of those workers who risk their lives, scrubbing off his sticky webs on skyscrapers... - zhaojon, on 01/23/2009, -1/+4Wow. Huge disappointment at the end. If you are bored/unfortunate enough to make it to the end, that is.
- TheMidnight, on 01/23/2009, -0/+3If that's a character, then Union Aerospace Corporation should be #1. Being the largest corporation in the history of the world and collapsing due to hell itself is a pretty ugly blow to any economy.
- AnimalTaglits, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2I think that statement was intentional.
- Mujokan, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2Despite what you may have read, LA Bimbo != Princess
- Dopeness, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2***** Link gets all the money AND the princess... What a greedy bastard ;/
- bob135, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2Umbrella would hurt the economy mostly because of its most likely monopolistic pricing, leading to inefficient resource allocation.
Mercenaries/Nico would be harmful not necessarily in themselves but because they reflect lack of rule of law (which is usually bad for the economy) and black markets (also a sign that the free market isn't providing what people want).
Skywalker might help in the long run - a republic would probably save more on military spending than the empire.
Sonics hoarding of cash would help fight inflation, if rings are like fiat currency. If they're actually solid gold he would just drive up gold prices a bit. - BradOFarrell, on 01/23/2009, -1/+3Also, I hate to be the nerdiest person in a Digg thread, but the rupees in Zelda are hidden in pots, grass, and bushes by the Picori (a primitive type of fairy) in order to bring happiness to people. The Picori also created the sword that eventually became the Four Sword, which has strange reactions to rupees and the rupee-like force gems. It's possible that rupees themselves are a Picori invention (ie, finding them in grass is the 'normal' way to acquire the gems) and were used as currency because of their inability to be reproduced.
ALSO, it wouldn't even ruin the economy if the rupees can be obtained through work, since all precious metal currencies are obtained through work, the value of the rupee is just relative to the value of the work required to obtain it. - decker12, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2Just not that funny, and that's why I buried it. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!
- monkeytaco, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2the thing about hyrule though is it all grows back 7 seconds later.
- Kenelm, on 01/23/2009, -1/+3No Wario, no digg.
- Nirgaul, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2In all fairness, the webs are designed to evaporate.
- sineyopitty, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2This article was not funny.
- Braxford, on 01/23/2009, -1/+3Buried for IGN

- Cheesepuffly, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Sly Cooper, at least they remember him, woo!
Best choice ever! - OkCyDe, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1It's like the writer had this funny idea about how Link is able to get rich without working, then quickly added a bunch of other characters and wrote a half-assed paragraph for each of them and made it into an article.
- Optimaximal, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1The sad thing is, everytime some tool diggs one of these articles, hundreds of people flock to them and they survive for another week on the ad-revenue alone.
Solution? Bury! - thizzlebot, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1I like how they started with Link because they say the same ***** every time and substitute a different name.
- bwishey, on 01/23/2009, -1/+2Buried. I refuse to visit IGN anymore after they charged me last week a for a subscription I canceled in 2007 and they refused a refund. Their whole login system update a few months ago was a shame too... And why are their HD videos 320x240? Stupid IGN...
