- joebrodie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Hopefully coming in March: Soft-Mod so that you can use a 500 gig hard drive.
- rderveloy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Unless you buy some ***** homebrew rubbish"
Most homebrew apps are usually free/open source. - MasterJedi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yes, you are correct. Now everyone who wants to use their wireless controllers with their PCs can do so. Microsoft continues to add tools to its "Live Anyware" strategy.
- rishid, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16Microsoft is getting smart. Making a lot of the Xbox 360 peripherals compatible with Windows. People get more value out of their purchases.
- MasterJedi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's now on Joystiq and Engadget.

you need the 500GB so you can put your cracked HD movies on it and watch it directly off of the HDD. Believe me, they wouldn't make 750GB drives if data wasn't there.
you sound like the guy who said "640K ought to be enough for anybody..." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Doesn't the expression "I could care less" mean that you DO, in fact care, since you could possibly care less? So, you should probably say "I couldn't care less."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6$?,??? = Profit!
- r3m1x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I have to admit, I use the wired X360 controller for my PC. I felt like this was something Microsoft should of had DAY ONE when the console launched.
- r3m1x, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8what the hell was that funky looking reciever like thing? Was that the wireless PC adapter for wireless XBOX 360 accessories?
- MasterJedi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I also use my 360 controller on my PC, but I just wish more PC games supported the controller. I think most of the Microsoft "Games for Windows" brand do though.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Xbox 360 2.5" 20GB SATA HDD: $100
Regular 2.5" 100GB SATA HDD: $120
Xbox 360 2.5" 100GB SATA HDD: $?,??? - G_Raph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6If this comes out at the same price point ($100), I will defiently be grabbing one. This is something Microsoft should have done a long time ago but never needed to until the PS3 arrived and made their 20 gb hard drive look so damn small. Props to Microsoft though for reacting in a timely fashion to consumer demand.
- rderveloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"you can't put videos on the HDD you dumbass.
I bet you don't even own a 360, so STFU."
Um....

I'm not sure as to what format the 360 looks for when listing the available movies on the hard drive, but you can easily transfer stuff on and off the hard drive. I'm sure there are some homebrew apps out there that will adapt videos so they will play off the 360's hard drive. If not, then I'm sure someone is working on it. - Gunegune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The PLAYSTATION 3 can use any 2.5" SATA HDD (the ones usually found in notebooks).
- G_Raph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Now that I am thinking about it, Microsoft HAS to come up with a brain dead solution so everybody can switch all of their data off their old hard drive to the new 100gb one. If they could figure some way of doing it without involving a PC, that would be outstanding. This also appears to be a problem for any PS3 user that wishes to upgrade his hard drive.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5macross233:
So, technically, you just plug in HDD2 and all the saves, movies, music etc. magically appear from HDD1?
Anyway, I think it'll probably come with a USB adapter or something. - Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, theoretically you'd just have to transfer your profile over (which could be stored in system memory temporarily. Then you could re-download all your purchased content. Kind of like when you install Steam on a new computer.
I wonder how gamesaves would be handled, though. They're relatively small, so you could either transfer them to a memory card, or maybe even just store them in RAM during the swap. - MasterJedi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Now Confirmed by TeamXbox.com and includes an actual picture.

You couldn't put videos on your xbox hard drive originally could you? I bet you have never heard of mods, so STFU. - CanadianGeese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Thank God. I'm sick of deleting old demos and game videos to make room for new ones.
The PS3 will definitely need a larger HDD if its users plan on using its media functionality. Thankfully, the 360 lets us stream all of our music off of our existing computers on the network, eliminating the need to move copies to the HDD of the console. Personally, I think this is an often-overlooked, yet major advantage of the 360. - HardwareLust, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Microsoft Flight Simulator X works well with it also. If you're too cheap to buy a decent joystick, that is... =)
- MasterJedi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yeah, I use it for Halo also. I'm so used to playing it on the Xbox that I just have to use it on the computer too. It just doesn't feel right without it, even though mouse and keyboard is more precise.
- Snowcone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@distrbnce
I'd love to see the warranty call to Sony regarding a HDD you added yourself. - piradie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Pretty interesting, but probably the price will be obnoxiously high
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Snowcone
Me too. I can't say I've ever made a warranty call for anything.
I don't think sliding a new HDD in will be so tough though. I did it on my PS2, and even though this one will be half the size, I'm all +3 on the dexterity. - darthsnoopy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I thought he meant the wireless part..but yah, xbox controllers on pc = goodness
- b33unit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't have have any music on my HDD but I've downloaded so many demos and games that I constantly have to file manage my X360. I dunno if I need 100gb but 20gb is a joke.
- mcottier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They need to make it so you can rent/buy games at home, and store them on the hard drive. With this bigger hard drive, it should be possible.
- Zero2aHero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Now large enough to support all of your microtransactions"
*looking at you lumines* - pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2thank god.
This was my biggest complaint about the 360. Now i can get a core system and then just buy the 100GB HD later. Although if 20GB is 100 bucks - how much is 100 GB gonna be? 500 bucks? Ill pay no more than 200 for that HD, especially when I can get a 400GB PC HD for 100 bucks. - KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, if I'm gonna keep 100gb of data on my 360, a dashboard patch better make navigating through the data more intuitive.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MS denied it.
http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/germany/360-100-gb-hd-bogus-says-germanys-herr-nelson-209092.php
Marked as inaccurate. - gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish the PS3 fanboys would make up their minds, 60GB on PS3 means PS3 is superior to Xbox’s mere 20GB until Xbox increases to 100GB then it’s a bad thing.
I bet there’s more to the added storage capacity than just demos.
Movies, music the mind boggles at the possibilities. - magicmarc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree that ms shouldnt lock out 3rd party drives. Of course, the design of the hd to begin with is obviously to do so. I want a reason to buy a 360 and now i am more inclined (if this is true). People are running out of space on their 360 hds after just one year - imagine what it would be like in 5 years. I dont want to have to use a data transfer device to accomidate space on my hd - thats stupid. I just hope to god it doesnt cost 500 bucks.
- SucKerS4Me, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Better be cheap.
- r3m1x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I play sports games on par with FPSs and if anything, it's a welcome addition that a console controller is compatible with the PC.
- r3m1x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I use it for Halo and sports games like NHL and NBA Live.
- badave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is exactly what I was waiting for. I resorted to buying the lower tier Xbox 360 because it was the only one available. My plan was to wait until the larger hard drive came out so I didn't have to feel as ripped off.
- Aazlain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I personally won't be needing it but good news for those who might.
I'm always amazed by the amount of people who thinks an optional feature/add-on is stupid because they don't need/want it themselves. Sorry if this comes to some as a surprise, but the needs the rest of the world aren't necessarily based on yours. - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is it just me, Or doesn't it seem like a really stupid time to announce a new HDD? Yes, It was announced in Korea. But by them announcing this 74 days before Christmas, I now know that if I buy a Premium 360, its going to be "outdated" in less then half a year. And by the time March rolls around, I'll probably be able to get a PS3.
- hotrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now all we need is XBMC
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Eek. Read some more Informational articles on this, and now realize I am way off. The HDD will probably be sold Separately.. I think MS should have the Core system with the crappy 20GB(Really more like 13GB) and the Premium with the 100GB(Who knows how much of it Microsoft wants to keep).
- omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You may not be able to transfer your videos onto the included Xbox 360 hard drive, but there's plenty of videos, demos, and Live Arcade games to download. In fact, each demo takes roughly 1gb and each trailer for a movie/game takes at least 75mb and sometimes as much as 300mb. They also have a couple episodes of the TV show Viva Pinata on Live, and each one of them takes 500mb. Given that the drive itself has only 13gb free when you buy it, you can actually fill it up fairly easily. Especially during / right after events like E3 and X06. This year, I've completely filled the drive twice (during those 2 events) with trailers and behind-the-scene videos and stuff. Yes, most of it I delete right away, but a lot of times, I save it for a friend (who doesn't have a 360) to see, so it sits on the drive for up to 2 weeks.
So ... yes, I'll be buying the 100gb drive when it comes out. - danielmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh Dude i can't wait till it comes to australia buy buy buy
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2BFD. If you want a 100GB HDD in your PS3, you can do it on November 17 (if you are lucky enough to get one), as Sony says the PS3 HDD is replaceable with 3rd party drives.
Why are people getting juiced over MS shipping a 2.5" 100GB HDD? I've had a 2.5" 100GB HDD in my Mac Mini since March. The only reason this is even news is because MS locks out 3rd party drives, otherwise, people would have done it already.
No digg for MS locking out technology then announcing it as new when they make one. - pezkoreaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i remember j. allard (MS XB Designer) talking about how they would eventually like to sell full download-able games and movies on XBL. so it wouldn't surprise me to see 200GB+ HD's being sold down the road.
i'm also running out of room from all the demos, and XBL arcade games, I have purchased in the past few weeks. i can't believe i remember so many hidden places in Doom :) - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Uhmm... a PC version of the wired controler was available before the 360 was released
