- TeamOverload, on 10/12/2007, -5/+129Holy crap that line is absolutely insane..
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -16/+92Insane is right.
I wouldn't wait in a line that long to bang a pornstar, much less to play a video game.
5 hour wait for 5 minutes of gameplay? No game is that good. - filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+177Especially if it was the same pornstar. iiichhhh.
- rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -22/+165probably people thinking its the line for the bathroom?
"this is the wii line" - Johnny1337h4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44actualy I read that the line was over a 6 hour waiting time. Each gamer gets 5-15 minutes to play and since there are 27 playable games, I would think 27 players can play at a time.
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -85/+7I'd wait 5 hours for a roller coaster, but not to play a game console
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -14/+37bojoes, you're a ***** moron..
i'm not a gamer but since when do gamers not like girls? apparently being a gamer makes you homosexual? - zoto, on 10/12/2007, -55/+20I'm no virgin, I did your mom last night...
- TungFu, on 10/12/2007, -17/+11I wouldn't be suprised if the popularity at E3 emboldens Nintendo to boost their price up a wii bit on release. chances are assuming its still considerably cheaper then the competition the things will still sell like hot cakes, and they can always lower the price once the "craze" dies down.
- pdiddle, on 10/12/2007, -35/+2> I'm no virgin, I did your mom last night...

Mona Lisa, Or Wii you choose. - sl4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10CLEARLY you've never been to Disneyland
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"I'd rather just wait until it's released..."
If the line gets much longer the console WILL be released before they get their turn. - VegaObscura3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3CLEARLY you've never been to Disneyland
I showed this to a friend that used to be in charge of Space Mountain in disneyland, and about 10 seconds in he said he wasn't impressed, and reminded me that he used to work at disneyland. About 30 seconds in he was all "omg" and throughout the entire 2 minutes and 16 seconds, it did not change speed. - precurser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to VegaObscura3: the video is sped up a tad to match the length of the song, i think the actual real walk time was just a few seconds over 3 minutes.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -16/+92Insane is right.
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -95/+18wow just as bad as when apple opened its first store in Tokyo. Apple and Nintendo rule! Innovators always come in pairs. And no one else
Blizzcon had a pretty long line too, but we just cut in line ;). You know when the line stretches so far it hits a pedestrian crosswalk? That's the best place to hit it up :).- MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -5/+66dude, cutting isn't cool.
- liquidrums, on 10/12/2007, -71/+7Yea, but we know how much asians like to queue up.

- robotbloodparty, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yes, one hour makes quite a difference, doesn't it?
- merlinicorpus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+58Wow, its one thing to hear about a 6 hour line, but it's quite another thing to see it visually.

says that you can walk into Sony or Microsoft's booth...and wait around for...FIVE minutes before jumping onto a demo unit...while folks are waiting for about 6 hours for the Wii
yowza - Roger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+65The Wii's already won as far as I'm concerned. Seems to me like Sony and Microsoft would need to make some drastic changes to their consoles in a hurry if they wanna keep up.
(Oddly enough I think the name "Wii" is growing on me) - zillax0rz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6DgenX, the problem with the Wii is that Nintendo is limiting the amount of Wii stations. For instance, last year, aside from playing Zelda, you could walk up and wait five minutes for anything. At Sony's booth last year, the line to see just a video of the PS3 was at least a couple hours long.
- petsounds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's true. I was there today at about 10:30. By that point they had CLOSED THE LINE. Meaning, the line had gotten so long that E3 would end before any further people could play. At 10:30 in the morning. I hadn't seen a line that long since the premiere of Star Wars Ep. I at Mann's Chinese in Hollywood. I was actually pretty angry with Nintendo, as the Wiivolution was the single thing I really *had* to see. There's no reason they had to do it like that. I would have been happy just to see someone playing it in person. But I couldn't even do that because they had walled off the whole Wii area. That limits the amount of "evangelists" out there who can speak the gospel of Wii with firsthand knowledge. I imagine they did it to generate hype, as car manufacturers do with new models by artificially limiting production, but no such boost was needed.
Anyway, I can vouch firsthand for the impact of Wii's popularity on Sony and MS. Their booths weren't very crowded. The PS3 demo systems weren't any more crowded than the smattering of PS2 games they were showing. And anecdotally, there weren't many smiles being generated at the Sony and MS booths, except for the Guitar Hero 2 station. People honestly looked rather bored. I don't know if I would say Nintendo flat-out "won", but they certainly generated the most fervor.
But I still hate the name.

- roadies, on 10/12/2007, -6/+48damn, that is a long line. If they are lucky, they might get to play it before it is released.
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18i was in yesterday for the "media early access" portion, my gf and i managed to be the 11th and 12th people in. i must say, what i played was awesome! http://digg.com/gaming/E3_2006_Nintendo_Wii_Footage
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6forget lucky...if they were smart, they would move along. :) no way am i waiting 5-6 hours for a video game.
- sock2828, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10that is the damnd bigest line i have seen in a loooong time
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -23/+5dont forget apple's tokyo line!
- bab7880, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Anyone have a headcount yet?
- Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41364
- VegaObscura3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6There were 1337 people there (no, that is not the number of people there, just the kind)
- Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dont know WTF yous are modding me down for. Count them yourselfs if you dont believe me.
- kriegs, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4I heard rumors that it was a 6hr long wait in that line? that's insane. But I still would of waited. Wicked this got 37diggs so far george :)
- verucasalt, on 10/12/2007, -51/+1today I saw another lame attention-grabbing headling on digg. MUST NOT DIGG STORY
- skatingrox, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Headling? Are you on LSD?
- znutz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50Is that the line for Wii or the DMV?
- markormesher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It took me longer to regester my new car than it did to wait this morning, now i know where everyone was!
- albel65, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13I got the idea after the first 20 seconds.
- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I think that line even puts Disney World during the summer to shame.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -36/+9One thing you need to understand is that the line is so massive because Nintendo lets small groups of people in at a time to play. Sony and MS's areas are wide-open and anyone can come or go, so there are no lines.
Let's not hype this more than it already is.- MikeEnIke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16If that happened there wouldn't be anywhere to move lol. I have a feeling the line is a necessity.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -27/+8I should also add: despite the fact that I'm excited about Wii, this rampant Nintendo fanboyism is getting old.
Pretty soon we'll be seeing frontpage stories about the kind of paint used on the Wii. - precurser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12the booth was packed to the brim, they had to allow small groups in at a time as they flushed them out. trust me, i was there, the line WAS necessary.
- jpt62089, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And.... thats a bad thing? lol jk. Yeah I am actually hoping to preorder my Wii before it gets sold out! And the Fanboys are getting annoying >.
- zillax0rz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Why does this have -20 diggs? It is a completely valid statement. Companies do this every year. Last year, the line to watch just a video of the PS3 was at least two hours, if not more. The line to play Zelda: Twilight Princess was a few hours. It always happens at E3.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"MUST SEE VIDEO."
I really didn't have to see that. Pretty funny though. I'd rather just save 5 hours and play my own system when it comes out.- knightcrawler75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Most of em were probably racing each other in Mario Cart for the DS anyway so it was probably a good time.
- bnoj13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I was able to glimpse a very large number of them absorbed in their DS's.
- swhite1987, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9That's a pretty nasty line. Reminds me of when a new roller coaster opens to the public. It's not at all uncommon to see a 5, 6, 7 or even 8 to 10 hour line for it. Go to any roller coaster enthusiast site and search for the coasters X, Top Thrill Dragster, or Millennium Force in the newsgroups. You'll read horror stories in there of trips to the parks.
I've waited two hours in line to ride Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England, by my calculation it was about one minute per 1.2 seconds of ride time. How long do they get to play the Wii?- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4From what I've read, 5-15 minutes depending on the game.
- TheFunny, on 10/12/2007, -6/+45-10 min depending on the game.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5from what I heard, each person got between 5 and 15 minutes to play a game
sorry for the dupe, too bad comments aren't real time *hint*hint* - toby34a, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I was just at Cedar Point last weekend, and it took 3 hours to get on Top Thrill Dragster, for a 17 second ride. It would've only been like an hour, but I spent 2 hours on the platform because the system needed to be reset (like a 10 min ordeal) every 2-3 cars that went out... but it was worth it.
But I was there on opening day of Top Thrill a few years ago, and people did stay in line for 6 hours. I had some buddies that got in line right after lunch, and were late for the bus ride back after 7 hours in line for it. That's overkill.
- wmarcello, on 10/12/2007, -4/+48I think I saw Bill Gates in that line somewhere.
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought it was Ken Kutaragi?
- Darren07, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4w00t! great video!

- satch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42i counted 2 girls in the entire line.
- pwrstick, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10hahaha
- usefulidiot, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4well no *****, females are no good at hands-on playing with wii's
- beervolcano, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Well, I'm a girl, and a cute one at that.. and I'll be camping out to make sure I get a Wii.. and a copy of the new Zelda..

Do you want a cookie? Whoopie. You're a girl, and I'm so glad you think so highly of yourself. So, if you considered yourself and 'ugly' girl, would you not count. Great attitude. I feel sorry for your butch lover.
- makenai, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13As someone mentioned, this is very reminiscent of the Tokyo Apple store line video (also worth watching):
http://homepage.mac.com/masanorif/iMovieTheater23.html
or
http://homepage.mac.com/hsk/applejapan.html
Both of these events needed a FastPass (tm) system. Life is too short to just wait around. :)- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Apparently the DS Lite also had an enormous line outside of Yodobashi Akiba (akihabara's largest electronics retail outlet). Definately a far cry from the line for the xbox360 at the same location (seven people).
- Gardenhead, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4That line just brought me to my knees.
- DCJoeDog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25B-but wait, SONY said they were the best, why is no one wanting to get in line at their booth, obviously all these people must be int he wrong line

- Zeny, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13ah man, thats me in the back with the laptop, sucks I didn't notice how long it is ...
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2glad i could give you some perspective! lol
- Willis, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Reminds me of the line to buy tickets to SXSW at Waterloo Records here in Austin
- speel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Man if I was there and had like a real real close spot i would have been like "$100 spot right here! come get only $100."
- cwoolf34, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Thats not that bad... Cedar Point can be worse. I remember opening day on the Millennium Force! It was like a 6-7 hour wait for a 3 minute ride!
- beta1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Cool. Reminds me of the line for the Apple store opening in Tokyo a few years back.
Go Wii!!! - filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1The only thing longer than that line is Ben's hog...
- cemsity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nintendo need to hire disney to construct its queue for the Wii that would probaly make it last another two hours because people think the line is short.
BTW i think wii won - nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Hey. can someone please give a mirror out? Or a direct link to the video?
Thanks in advance :) - revmitcz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5I could see waiting in that line to get a free Wii, maybe. Otherwise.. I just don't get it. Not to say that the Wii is lame or anything, it's actually the only console I could see purchasing (and I haven't bought a console since the SNES) - I just wonder why they'd wait that long for 5-15 mins of game play.
Still, great video. Diggin' it.- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7if i hadnt got in the day before early, i would have waited. trust me bro, i am sure every last person who got in there to play realized that waiting that long was actually worth it.
the Wii is for sure going to change video games forever.

- pork917, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11im sure just about everybody has said this, but the wii is the only true next-gen system, and this coming from a huge 360 fanboy. before xbox and 360 i was a huge nintendo fan... gamecube lost my faith, but with ds lite, wii and the bunch of new/retro mario titles coming i think nintendo is grabbing everybody back into their realm, and very easily. these lines prove everything as well as the massive hype and talk from just about EVERYONE
- ReBeLaCe, on 10/12/2007, -19/+6that is ridiculous. I havent seen a line like that since Chuck Norris was givin out free roundhouse kicks.
- csimpkins, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3How dumb do you have to be to actually wait in that thing?
- pork917, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1double post... sorry
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Holy CRAP that is awful... I would never wait in a line like that. :P
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I would never go to E3. Way too many people. If you're not there, you're probably not the type of person to wait in a line.
If you're there, you're pretty much willing to do anything, because you have the personality to actually go to such a congested, claustrophobic event.
Don't get me wrong, I love E3. I just love it on the internet.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I would never go to E3. Way too many people. If you're not there, you're probably not the type of person to wait in a line.

- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Man, good thing the DS has a battery life of between 6 to 10 hours. By they time you get to the head of the line, it will die, but you'll be ready to play some Wii.
- TravisL, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Do these people have anything else to do with their lives? I love video games too, but seriously.
- DJgreenLava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Nintendo should have put several DS download stations along the way.
- Migdilio, on 10/12/2007, -39/+7Reported as inaccurate.

- Migdilio, on 10/12/2007, -29/+3No, darth tater. _You're_ an idiot. I didn't actually report it as inaccurate. Nor do I think it's a line filled with illegal immigrants. It's called sarcasm. Look it up.
- Migdilio, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2Ok guys, you can stop digging me down. I really, really want a Wii and I'm a diehard Nintendo fan. Check my digg history.
- Presentlight, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wow...at that rate the guy in the back may as well go home and wait for the console to be released. Think of all the other games and people you end up not talking to if you were that guy.
- jeedee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Sucks when you are 30min away from playing and you got to take a piss ... Then you come back at your spot in line and you get nunchuked

lol - CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I love the concept for the Wii as much as the next person, but my question here is: how many demo systems doe MS and Sony have set up? Nintendo has 27 (if there is one machine for each game, I'm not sure of that)... MS has had the 360 out for over 6 months and by the end of the year will have over a hundred games out, they must have WAY more demo systems running at once than Nintendo and Sony combined, but 360 isn't the new system anymore so the lines for the other systems is to be expected...
That said, I haven't seen any articles pointing out the insane lines to play the PS3, so my assumption at this point is that isn't really happening, but, again, does anyone know how many demo systems Sony has out compaired to the big N?- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nintendo had a TON of stations. first they had the "living room" stations with a couch and tv's where you could sit and experience the Wii as if you had it at home, then they had the standup stations. there was about 10 living room stations and im sure at least over 40 or 50 standup stations. i could very well be wrong but trust me, it was not 27, at least 15 or so of them were solely running Twilight Princess.
also everyone bear in mind that once you actually got into the Wii part of the booth, you still had to wait behind your station of choice. - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ CrimsonBlur
That's a nice assumption that all these people are making, but they aren't there are they? When you have that many people to push through even doing 50 at a time every 10 minutes would take quite some time.
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nintendo had a TON of stations. first they had the "living room" stations with a couch and tv's where you could sit and experience the Wii as if you had it at home, then they had the standup stations. there was about 10 living room stations and im sure at least over 40 or 50 standup stations. i could very well be wrong but trust me, it was not 27, at least 15 or so of them were solely running Twilight Princess.

- 13badluck13, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3in New England we call that line WICKED HUGE! :P
- Tochi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Better go reserve your system now so you can avoid lines like these on release day!
- SugarCoatedBomb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I tried to count the number of people in line, but it didn't work so well. I still came to about 460. if there are 27 stations, and everyone plays exactly 15 minues then the line is 4 hours 10 minues long.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That line ends right in front of Sony's booth
- IcyStorm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Haha, good thing I went yesterday at 9:15 AM (Early Access), the wait was only 45 minutes from there.
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5AMEN, i was there with ya! (although i have no idea who you were. lol)
- patm1987, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2damn son... that's a long line
I guess it's good I wasn't there, I'd be the only one waiting in that line with a psp... I think my batteries would run out before I got a chance to play with the wii, and I'd get attacked by the ds users. -
