http://www.theonion.com/content/node/33930 - thosewithnoeyes, on 11/08/2009, -0/+43When faced with a choice between a logical decision and a completely insane one, some people just prefer to say NO! and make an 18 button mouse.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -1/+44Well...three really. The middle wheel click relly comes in handy.
- Orbital101, on 11/08/2009, -0/+38That mouse is so epic, it needs its own mouse.
- aargh01, on 11/08/2009, -0/+36I think that in the future, all men will own a molded face mask that has razors placed every few millimeters, and in the morning you just stick your face into it and move slightly upwards, and all the hair will be gone in one stroke.
Just sayin'. - skipvt, on 11/08/2009, -0/+34"There's a button for that"
- gridbread, on 11/08/2009, -0/+30Who the hell is meant to use this, a millipede?
- kingfoot, on 11/08/2009, -0/+28he had a liver attack?
- evil-doer, on 11/08/2009, -0/+26dude, i can touch type 80 words per minute on my mouse alone!
- TobiasParker, on 11/08/2009, -1/+27How is it not real?

- ervinTE8, on 11/07/2009, -9/+30Two buttons FTW!
- Ellipsys, on 11/08/2009, -0/+21The dev blog says it well -
"To put to rest the questions that kept popping up in the comments at the various sites: yes, the OOMouse is real. Yes, it has an absolute boatload of buttons… and they all have assignable double-clicks! Yes, we’re probably amok with insanity. No, we’re not on drugs, at least not of late. Yes, we think Apple’s buttonless approach is sexy, stupid, and limiting. Look at it this way. If you have a Magic Mouse and I have an OOMouse and we compete in any FPS, RTS, MMO, or OpenOffice.org Calc-off, you are going to be utterly obliterated. OBLITERATED. It won’t even be close. So, if you want sleek and superficial style, by all means, go ahead and buy a Magic Mouse. We don’t mind. But if you want raw power, flexibility, and speed, speed, speed, you will do much better with an OOMouse ." - http://openofficemouse.com/blog/
To date the "high end" peripheral universe has been mostly restricted to Windows, with an occasional Mac version (sometimes requiring a third party set of drivers or configuration software). I'm glad to see a company is finally creating a high functionality open source mouse! If I was to buy the Razer Naga or Steelseries MMO mouse, it would be little more than a standard two-button and wheel mouse under Linux or other operating systems by default. Most hardware designers seem to link their extra buttons and functionality to proprietary methods and fail to provide specs or an SDK. With the OpenOfficeMouse, or future WarMouse products I will be able to configure and use those extra features on any OS!
Sure, its not designed with the aesthetics of a high end dildo like Mac offerings, nor the black body adorned leds and aggressive "XTREEM" gaming styling like Razer and Logitech products, but reading through the blog its clear that a lot of time went into creating a mouse for advanced productivity use. I look forward to new WarMouse designs, such as their gaming focused mice which I surmise will have a different aesthetic, and hope they continue to provide an open source alternative in a sea of locked down, proprietary hardware. - bringitontimx, on 11/08/2009, -3/+24Definitely looks like a "Linux Alternative" mouse.
- xkorbin, on 11/08/2009, -0/+20Put another aloe strip on that *****, too.
- twentyonexnine, on 11/08/2009, -1/+20Oh ya totally. You can tell by the polygons.
- Zcrubby, on 11/08/2009, -1/+18Side buttons are also nice
- MtheoryX, on 11/08/2009, -6/+22Ugly. As. Sin.
I'll stick to my Logitech Wave keyboard/mouse set, thanks. - dman24752, on 11/08/2009, -0/+15Hear that Mac users? TWO BUTTONS! Where's your right-click god now?
- Atario, on 11/08/2009, -2/+17I disagree, Chiclets are delicious.
- AlienMushroom, on 11/08/2009, -0/+14Hope this pointing device isn't disappointing.
- Harabeck, on 11/08/2009, -1/+15If you played an MMO a lot, and made yourself use them, you could get used to it in a few days to a week.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13Why not just put a whole keyboard on the mouse and consolidate!
- JediPilot, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13His liver had a heart attack.
- piieerrrree, on 11/08/2009, -0/+12No, alans, you were wrong. This isn't a joke.
- gnixon70, on 11/08/2009, -2/+14Why did I flash to this when looking at that?.
http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/%22The_Homer%22 - splicerslicer, on 11/08/2009, -1/+13I hope you realize that this isn't in production yet so the authenticity of the photo doesn't matter. They are making it. Do a bit of research and you'll find that either it's for real or this is the biggest internet hoax of the year. And the other mice are real too, here are their order pages:

- chewycheese, on 11/08/2009, -0/+10i'm waiting for the mouse keyboard
- bearcat8543, on 11/08/2009, -1/+10successful troll is successful
- DrKnowitall, on 11/09/2009, -1/+9Just cut to the chase and put an optical sensor on the bottom the keyboard to make a 101-button mouse.
- Orbital101, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8And a full QWERTY keyboard!
- JediPilot, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8Why not just tape your keyboard to the top of your mouse?
- schroeder, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8Steve Jobs just had liver failure.
- fallark, on 11/09/2009, -1/+9,,,am I the only one thinking about a possible horror movie based on this? You know....when the mask goes wrong...

- KingGorilla, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7If people can use it efficiently then I would get it. Looks aren't THAT important to me
- Jektal, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6"I don't have nearly that many legs. I'm like a dosapede." - Obscure?
- hmmdar, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6that's what she said
- robwhite1979, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5I expected this to be an Onion article for some reason...
- 4rp4n3t, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5If you're looking for ergonomically designed mice with sensibly placed buttons, Logitech ftw (imho)
- dsfjvhbd, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5I think, if I used it for a long time with the same app, I would become very fast with this (all frequently used options are where my finger already is). So in some way such a design does make sense.
- allisonaxe, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6i want to love this, but as a left-handed gamer, I don't approve. the analog nub being situated where it is, I won't be able to use it. I know we're a small market, but the fact that so many of these fancy mice aren't available in "lefty-swapped" versions (or, at the very least, usable in either hand) is really disheartening.
- Cige, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4Five is about right in my opinion. Maybe six if you put one on the right side of the mouse and two on the left in addition to the standard 3.
