- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -8/+69For five hundred ***** dollars? That'll buy you a hell of a lot of tin-foil.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7But you save 23%!!
/sarcasm - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I think the extra cost comes adding the "fearless". I can't even count the number of times my current video scanner has come across a secret, MIB frequency and refused to show me what it found out of fear for its life.
- gamebittk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3This really sucks.....
- soviyet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It might be spam, but I still ***** want one. Why does it have to be so damned expensive?
- Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Wasnt this done on Systm?
- DonWilson, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Psst, they're not watching you.
- sphinx13, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1@Bartbuy, I thought that was for wifi network cameras.
- lukeydukey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Why spend money on this? Just turn on your tv and change the channel and eventually you'll see yourself on screen....
... Gotta love Enemy of the State. Pretty good predictions right there. =) - sniper479, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1GawtMilk: Hahahaha. That was funny. You're a funny guy. The tin foil jokes, they never get old, lol. I find this device to be very useful. It is good if you want to know what the scum are seeing. It is also useful if you don't want to be seen. It makes it easy to avoid cameras.
- TNHitokiri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Oh jeez, for a second I thought it was a device to hack into webcams that are already there. I'd rather big brother not catch me masturbating.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21984 didn't seem like 1984.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7But you save 23%!!
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Interesting gizmo, but like gawtmilk says, a bit too pricy unless you're british royalty or just really really worried about people spying on you.
- t3hCyborg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Even if the government was spying on you, what can you do? Certainly having a little "Wireless Cam Hunter" wouldn't do any good...
- fugularity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I think people are missing the ancillary benefit of this gadget, that you can watch what the GOVERNMENT deems watchable, so it's bound to be salaciously interesting! Who cares if I can catch someone spying me! I'd rather catch someone spying on someone who actually deserves to be spied on! Like, perhaps, girls? heh
- HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Even if the government was spying on you, what can you do?"
Put on a scramble suit?
- Sharkee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Didn't Kev and DD make one of these on TheBroken?
- lukychmz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2yeah they did I remember it
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1dude which episode?
- guregu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13No, it was on Systm. http://revision3.com/systm/warspyingbox
- elbxmatatan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1forget that I want the M 18 Advanced Air TASER (self defense tab).
- kobalt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1awesome. email me when i can buy in quantity from china for cheap
- Phantompyro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Too bad you still cant get around those troublesome Wired cameras.
- ufia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A wire cutter cost 2 bucks.
- Kwipper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This makes me wonder if all wireless cameras are running on unsecured networks, epically if a device like this can tap into them and see what they're shooting.
- Huitz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I thought about this and maybe encrypting the video data is to much of a load on some very small wireless cameras? Only thing I can think of.
- SteveRogers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Who Watches the Watchmen? ...ME!
- Marijuana, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3The only purpose I can find for this $500 gadget is stealing. Whoever would want to use it to steal could most likely afford to buy the item(s) anyways.
- KillaGoat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I want this for my bedroom. Giggity.
http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/c1135.html - FeartheKnight, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2In soviet russia, webcam watch YOU
oh wait... - misfitpanda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Big Brother is watching you.
/1984 - mray21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Its for stalking fools! Plant a battery powered wireless cam in your favorite ex-girlfriends bedroom! Heh! okaaaaay....
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11. Give hot neighbor a wireless web cam for her birthday.
2. Buy WiCam Hunter
3. Spend more time alone in my room.- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31. This only works on analog wireless cameras
2. What the hell go ahead and waste your money
3. *shrug* - spriggig, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31. Give hot neighbor a wireless camera for her "bertday"
2.????
3. Profit! - adc86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@spriggig
...I'm pretty sure #2 involves a big screen tv and a ticketing machine.
- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31. This only works on analog wireless cameras
- killervibe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cool. Too bad I dont have $500 bones to drop on this little gadget.
- xXAzraelXx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I dig, the best defense is a good offense. Things like this being allowed to exist legally is like "mutual assured detection", removing the disability of the poor and private over the powerfully observant.
- corvairkid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1$500 and you're STILL going to end up chained to a pipe in the washroom of an abandoned slaughterhouse with a dull hacksaw.
- ator1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It says that it can pick up signals from 500 feet away. You could just cruise around with it and see what you can pick up.
- dignation, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1and you can't with 400 feet?
- Lunchbox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, just do what Kevin did on Systm. And you will be way cooler if you make it yourself.
- stateful, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.icomamerica.com/products/receivers/r3/
$200 less... I've had an IC-R3 for about 4 years, much wider receive, .495MHz-2.4GHz, and all band, lots of fun. - farbanti, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Look for an Icom R3 on ebay instead. They are a bit cheaper and should have the same analog video capability plus it a full comm receiver. Beyond the pinhole spy cameras which I doubt many people have in their homes, I'm not sure how useful these things are. Wireless security cameras are increasingly digital and some of the home systems are actually wifi webcams. The price is high because there are only so many legitimate customers: spys, pervs, and the ultra paranoid
Edit: stateful beat me to it.... - baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2just get a hand held frequency counter (much cheaper) then you can find any wireless device within range, be it WiFI, cordless microphones & etc... anything that uses radio waves to transmit data, audio and/or video...
- countbranca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0someone buy it and report the results somewhere. looks like fun!
- COMPACTION, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had a TV that got cable from the lines around my house with no hook up and cell calls on my FM radio so who knows? This is like a RADAR detector maybe they will get a wireless cam jammer next.
- cloudchaos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I will build one like on Systm rather than buy on for that much
- NMVK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LAME. Any security guru worth their salt will install an IP-based camera (i.e. NO wireless).
- IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Let's see now.....I started with a radar detector for my car....I have to my baggage and person X-Rayed at the airport...then I have to sweep my home for bugs and wiretaps....now I have to sweep for cameras watching me. Isn't life great?
- stefanmarbais, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This would pick up all the wireless baby monitors and nanny cams in every home with a child under 3years old...
that is a lot of people who are broadcasting their private life to anyone who care to take a peek. In this society I would bet there are more of theses devices out there in the wrong hands. I think all baby monitors should come with a warning not to leave this powered on when breast feeding or changing the baby.
If you think that wifi is more secure just think how many laptops are out there and how easy it is to download software form one of the many hacker warez sites. I have a friend in NYC who taps into IP cameras all the time with just the default password.
IF you broadcast your life do not be surprised if people are watching your every move.... - glozycom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check this links
