- ImperialSoren, on 01/08/2009, -1/+138wireless ***** charger
- seldon452, on 01/08/2009, -5/+116I love palm. They are like that cure girl that isn't a total slut so she does not get noticed sometimes.
But in the end they turn out to be super hot and an awesome screw with a great personality. That is you palm... that is you. - Sife, on 01/08/2009, -2/+105It's like they went "Hmm, iPhone has a touch screen, Blackberry has a keyboard and scroll ball, G1 has a keyboard and flip screen... LET'S GIVE IT ***** ALL OF THAT."
- duddy, on 01/08/2009, -12/+113Yeah, looks like the Palm Pre has everything the iPhone has and everything it doesn't!
Keyboard, MMS, Bluetooth file transfer, mini-USB with mass storage support, Stereo Bluetooth, Video recording, 3MP cam, LED Flash, GPS with turn by turn and REMOVABLE BATTERY! And it also seems much faster than the iPhone!
Plus, all those apps shown, we're written in either CSS, Javascript or HTML! That's going to make it even easier to write apps! Hell, even I will be able to write apps for this awesome piece of technology! - uptwolait, on 01/08/2009, -1/+92Funny, but I was never able to get that cute girl. I used my Palm a lot.
- Bloake, on 01/08/2009, -6/+90Looks HOT!
- Yarnage, on 01/08/2009, -4/+61This new OS looks ***** amazing. It can aggregate multiple sources (Outlook, GMail, Facebook, etc) without creating duplicates. It can keep the data separate too. This OS is fast, slick, and makes a ton of sense to me. The touch gestures, the way applications close, the way you switch between applications... can you say intuitive?
I hate to bring up the old iPhone cliché but I think those has potential to beat the iPhone at its own game (not saying the iPhone will die and stop selling but this phone looks like it has a better interface that's more intuitive). - mrfreeziexp, on 01/08/2009, -2/+41Palm has a winner on their hands with this one. Hopefully they don't price themselves out of the game.
- Bloake, on 01/08/2009, -2/+36does it have COPY & PASTE?!?
- Frozo, on 01/08/2009, -12/+46Dumbest... name... ever...
- MaxwellMoss, on 01/08/2009, -11/+43This thing would kick the iPhone's ass. Too bad it is exclusive to Sprint.
- fireangl2041, on 01/08/2009, -0/+32yes.
- jimgreer, on 01/08/2009, -5/+34This could be a great phone but having apps written only in HTML is not really a good thing. That's how the iPhone apps worked initially. Not so great for games.
- cromulent742, on 01/08/2009, -0/+25Hell yes.
- Spinfusor, on 01/08/2009, -1/+25The OS is a welcome replacement for Garnet.
- sfhock, on 01/08/2009, -0/+23I'm so tired of seeing a cool phone and then reading that it's exclusive to one provider. when will this exclusivity crap end so everyone can just have their favorite phone/provider pair??
- lemur, on 01/08/2009, -1/+24Sprint has its network speed going for it, which you really want for a phone like this.
- sjbradyusd, on 01/08/2009, -2/+22I hope this is the real deal. I would like to upgrade my 755p

Palm stock up over 35% so far today. - RafiParrr, on 01/08/2009, -1/+19Three questions:
Price?
Will it come unlocked at any point down the line?
What's the battery life look like with all those features turned on?
The G1 looked just as good (save for the headphone jack) back when T-Mobile first announced it, but having had it for a few months now, I have to say the battery life just kills it. Hopefully Palm has a nice big battery in that little shell. - OriginalLucid1, on 01/08/2009, -0/+17Yes, and Bluetooth audio, a removable battery. Take that Steve.
- BrendanSheehan, on 01/08/2009, -0/+17Competition is great.
- duddy, on 01/08/2009, -3/+20The difference though is that these apps are run "from" the device. Not over the web. Plus, I'd imagine Palm wouldn't leave out developers. I'm sure there will be an SDK for creating 3D games and CPU intense apps.
- dave122, on 01/08/2009, -4/+21I guess my biggest concern isn't how many games or fart noises i can get on my phone...
- MFoody, on 01/08/2009, -0/+17Finally I can get a phone at sprint that I would choose even if I wasn't with sprint.
- sportsburn, on 01/08/2009, -1/+16dumber than wii?
- G001, on 01/08/2009, -0/+14Bigger is definitely better, but it's not a huge deal or else Palm wouldn't have been able to sell shrunken down Centros.
(Although it does remind me of when the Zune first came out and if you pointed out the bigger screen to iPod fanboys they would say "It doesn't matter! You can just hold it closer to your face!!!")
Anyway, something gets compromised when you remove the keyboard too: usability. I for one am glad it has a real Palm keyboard and not an iPhone on screen display. - mazurkfsflip8, on 01/08/2009, -0/+14yes it does. although i'm likely going to wait til Q3 of 2009 to see what all the competition has to offer. i'm basically waiting to see what other carriers will offer Android phones and how far Android will evolve from where its currently at.
Android or Palm for me. - Jeffler, on 01/08/2009, -2/+16Cause it looks like they've spent years on this and TIME WELL ***** SPENT
- Taiyoryu, on 01/08/2009, -0/+14If there is anything negative to say, it's the fact the keyboard slides in portrait mode rather than in landscape mode. Landscape keyboards are much easier to use. Otherwise, I gotta say, Palm is back.
- papalock, on 01/08/2009, -1/+15Finally, the iPhone has some real competition.
The WebOS looks amazing!
Direct Link: http://www.palm.com/us/products/phones/pre/index.h ... - bismark90, on 01/08/2009, -2/+14the phone itself looks nice, but i think people are forgetting just how lame having only "web" apps for the iphone was. sure, the web apps on the pre are local, but still, how do you get 3d games or multitouch apps with just html/css/javascript?
- tacroy, on 01/08/2009, -0/+12Palm has traditionally started with a single carrier then branched out to all the others. (see the treo and the centro)
- jimgreer, on 01/08/2009, -3/+15Please, please, please be good. I just can't take AT&T's ass-tastic coverage in San Francisco any more.
- OriginalLucid1, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11Very good sir!
- Jeffler, on 01/08/2009, -2/+13No - it's so strong it'll break the blender and it'll come out with a fully charged battery and a polish
- IHaveCrayons, on 01/08/2009, -0/+11Doesn't the G1 already have all that? Scroll ball, flip screen, keyboard, touch screen.
- seldon452, on 01/08/2009, -0/+10Palm also did innovate with this phone. I would imagine most companies after this will be offering wireless chargers. Also the webOS is an interesting idea that will hopefully pan out but I can guarantee the wireless charger is here to stay.
- sadilak, on 01/08/2009, -0/+10Historically, developing palm apps was a breeze. So I guess the Palm app store would pretty much have a tons of useful applications at a more rapid rate than iPhone apps.
Also , you seem to conveniently ignore the fact that of all the phone SDKs available, iPhone is the most restrictive - alexvalentine, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9I would seriously consider dumping my iphone for this thing, especially if its more developer friendly and open.
- dave122, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9too bad cell phones in the us are on us based carriers.
- davidrools, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9I never thought I'd agree with that statement regarding a Palm device.
- krische, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10Well seeing as the phone hasn't been seen by the public until today, I think the app store will come around, you know, its actual release date.
- nurall, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9the centro does, dont see why they wouldnt carry it over.
- moolcool, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9Seems to combine best of iphone and android. will be interesting to see reviews.
- Rudy42, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10"I want to go to there..."
- colincornaby, on 01/08/2009, -6/+15"Plus, all those apps shown, we're written in either CSS, Javascript or HTML!"
Remember when iPhone apps were written in CSS, Javascript, and HTML?
Remember how people were mostly pissed off about that? - omjeremy, on 01/08/2009, -0/+8http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/palm-pre-first- ...
- nurall, on 01/08/2009, -0/+8good thing im on sprint.
may have to switch out my centro -
