That's not the reason why there are so many iPhone apps. Here's a comment from a Blackberry developer and why they are switching to develop iPhone apps :

- 1smartguy, on 12/03/2008, -0/+0I very rarely use digg. I'm spoiled by reddits comment system. Reddit sure has it's flaws with it's bugs, but the comment system can't be beat. The way the comments stagger will soon be a standard. I'm sure much larger websites like youtube are on to it, and will add a staggered comment system. And now I'm going to do the ***** digg captcha so I can send this comment, but will you see it? Probably not.
