- dronesixtyten, on 01/07/2009, -1/+113Why would someone hide a toothbrush in their wall?
- madeingermany, on 01/07/2009, -1/+82Let's first come up with a global system of plugs and voltage/frequency.
- Whackly, on 01/07/2009, -1/+42frat house.
- dirtymcgrit, on 01/07/2009, -3/+31Good God, shut the hell up about Mr Babyman. either you liked the article or you didnt.
- Whackly, on 01/07/2009, -1/+23I knew it. All you need to be technologically advanced is to glow.
- Rastar, on 01/07/2009, -2/+19You should only get to see who submitted a story after you digg or bury, problem solved.
- Rastar, on 01/07/2009, -3/+20Digg should only credit the website that the content came from. The user who submitted it shouldn't even be listed.
- digital0verdose, on 01/07/2009, -2/+18Thank god im not the only one hiding my tooth brush in the wall. For a minute there I thought I was crazy.
- cplusplus, on 01/07/2009, -0/+14Lets call it a Universal Serial Bus.
- hanselsohot, on 01/07/2009, -0/+14Man that would be annoying if your were trying to sleep. My desk would look like chernobyl
- CedEx, on 01/07/2009, -0/+13Maybe you need a tinfoil hat to keep people from stealing your thoughts?
- absurdist, on 01/07/2009, -1/+14Much as I'd like to see this, it's not very likely any time soon. There is too much invested in existing infrastructure and hardware to make it feasible.
- foofiejnooner, on 01/07/2009, -0/+13The answer is right there in the safe: The same type of person that hides 20 dollars in their safe.
- gquaglia, on 01/07/2009, -21/+34Buried for Mr Baby Man
- kramsac, on 01/07/2009, -5/+18When is digg going to change the way it allows a few people a guaranteed front page submission every time they click submit?
- Bobby1978, on 01/07/2009, -0/+12I like the glowy wire, looks similar to those technologically advanced cables used in Aliens.
- arobar, on 01/07/2009, -1/+12Let's = Let us. "Let us first come up..." makes perfect sense.
- davidg11, on 01/07/2009, -1/+12Damn it. No matter how fast I am, someone posts what I'm thinking first.
Nice job.
I believe that is a SILVER plated toothbrush. - TunisEleven, on 01/07/2009, -0/+10He wasn't correcting him, he was agreeing. "Let's go to the mall" "Let's!". He just doesn't use grammar.
- foofiejnooner, on 01/07/2009, -0/+10Yeah, everyone throw out what you already have and lets completely rebuild the world.
- megamod, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9wouldn't it make sense for the "Rozetkus Power Strip" system to be 6x6 instead of 5x5?
If you have a LOT of electrical devices you'll have an extra row if you have to use them all. Even if you turn the plugs sideways to take advantage of the last row, you'd still have one random pin sitting there. - madeingermany, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9That would be so cool - imagine your house wired with something like USB. It would work for TV, phone, network, (storage) devices and electricity.
It would be plug and play and you wouldn't have to buy another adapter/converter in your life! :) - waydee, on 01/07/2009, -0/+8The UK standard plug/socket is very safe, each plug is fused and sockets have individual switches, cables are less likely to get tripped over etc since they hang straight down.
I don't like the European plugs/sockets because they're messy, the sockets are designed to accept either 2 or 3 pin plugs and look awkward when a 2 pin is plugged in. They're also more difficult to plug in/pull out due to less room/grip on the plug compared to a UK one.
I don't know much about the US system but from what I can gather not all outlets are grounded etc - that's messy and potentially dangerous, cables stick out like in the European standard and theres no room for fuses in the plug. Also doesn't seem to be individual outlet switches.
UK standard wins. - Zenham, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7I found that one a bit foolish (even though yes, it LOOKS neato), because the point of the design was to make users aware of how much energy they are consuming... by consuming MORE!
Reminds me of devices which have 'battery low' lights. - DeFex, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6do you really want to waste 80% of your power and use 50 times as much copper just so you can have cordless power?
- Whaines, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6Abandoned?
- Denominator88, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6That glowing powerstrip would look awesome on a custom built PC.
- trogdor282, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Now that just about everything has a universal power supply it's pretty much moot. At most you need a physical adapter for the plug.
- Alias1431, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5The tooth-fairy hides toothbrushes like rappers hide firearms.
- pathouston22, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Yeah, sticking a key into a wall outlet. Sounds like a genius idea, until you stick it into the wrong outlet.
- theaceoffire, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6O.o its how we moved to metric I believe.
- Zenham, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Someone who doesn't wnat their wife finding their mistresses' toothbrush.
(stolen shamelessly from the comments on the article) - inactive, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6Seriously, wtf.
- Jektal, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Theft deterrent. And the picture actually makes it look like key goes into the normal mounting screw, not the outlet itself.
- WiretapStudios, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6Why don't you ask the SECOND COMMENTER
- johnomaz, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5I really like some of those. Too bad some are european plugs only, but still very clever.
- danwallace, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5I have a custom built PC but for some reason it's not horribly overburdened with tacky LEDs.
- RonnieSan, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5We put them on the wall by entrances at chest height where they are more accessible.
- kramsac, on 01/07/2009, -3/+7I don't submit because everytime I've submitted an article, I found it on the front page a few hours later..submitted by another user with hundreds of friends. And what if he took a while to get that amount of friends? The first articles he would have submitted wouldn't have gotten to front page, but probably whatever he clicks on now gets pushed to the front. No matter what you say skinrock, digg is broken, because it doesn't matter how good an article is.....the number of friends make the difference weather your article is seen or not.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5You have the dumb.
- themastersb, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5^ One step ahead of you.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Depends. If the cord's brightness varies as more amps are being drawn, then it educates the end-user on how much power various items uses.
Or you could just get a Kill-A-Watt meter, but that's not as cool. - skinrock, on 01/07/2009, -3/+6He has submitted 12,000 articles, a little over 3,000 have made it front page...less than 30%, far from a "guaranteed front page submission". You have submitted 4, glad to see you're providing so much alternative content.
- kouchan21, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3surprizingly cool
- Travelpilot, on 01/07/2009, -1/+4Some very clever ideas.
- Defiant001, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3This is an awesome article. I like to see this stuff, the "Power Aware Cord" was especially cool.
- gurtfrobe, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3dugg for sticking metal keys in your 'plug socket'.
- dynotesting, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2Easy....
I love LAMP - dragon76, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2all my new gadgets have Mini USB adapters for power.
