- calon9, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4The photos appear to have the optimal scantily-clad-girls to product-actually-being-hyped ratio.

- Chompy, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Agreed. Text for those of us at work:
Mitsubishi put together quite a spectacle to introduce its Laser TV last night at the Moon Nightclub at The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, unveiling a 65-inch rear-projection set that uses a unique laser backlight. The result is some of the most vivid color we've ever seen on any TV, especially the primary colors of red, green and blue. The blacks were midnight-dark, too, and there was even a 3D version of the TV (goofy glasses required) that only made us slightly cross-eyed. Mits officials said to look for the TV to appear on the market "later this year" at an undisclosed price, and added that it will cost about the same as flat panel TVs of the same size. On the next page, let's explore how this laser backlight works and gawk at a slightly NSFW gallery. - searcade, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1NSFW? i was next to my parents!... and i really wanna see them pics now.

I like how this picture is titled "multiple inputs" when the tv isn't even in the picture...- radicaldementia, on 01/08/2008, -1/+32It wasn't referring to the TV
- DontEatTheFish, on 01/08/2008, -2/+9that was my point, but hey, if you cant point out the obvious, then you cant point out anything

- ayeroxor, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Is anyone surprised that a booth babe this old, when the others have graduated college and gotten real jobs, has a big, nasty tramp stamp?
- radicaldementia, on 01/08/2008, -1/+32It wasn't referring to the TV
- atb112, on 01/08/2008, -1/+22The key to this project is the giant laser, which was invented by the noted Cambridge physicist, Dr. Parsons. So therefore, it is fitting to call it: "The Alan Parsons Project".
- SillyDigger, on 01/08/2008, -2/+4No it doesn't.
I don't know how it looks in person but those picture doesn't do it justice. - veriix, on 01/08/2008, -2/+56Wow, nothing hotter then seeing an implant scar pop out in one of their pics (NSFW):
http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/lasertv/1000437449- ijerry, on 01/08/2008, -3/+15Yeah, I don't like fake boobs, but they fool my penis everytime!
- Otto, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4Cut him some slack, he can't see the scars all that well with that one eye.
- Wiinii, on 01/08/2008, -6/+8I don't think that is the implant scar, they are never that noticeable, and they are usually on the very bottom or in the armpits.
- MacEnvy, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Oops, I ganked this comment above before I noticed this one. Sorry :(
- ijerry, on 01/08/2008, -3/+15Yeah, I don't like fake boobs, but they fool my penis everytime!
- limpl0uie, on 01/08/2008, -1/+17Great looking TV
Can any one else see that one dancer's boob job scar?- jlbarber, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Yessir, I can. Dugg
- mlvassallo, on 01/08/2008, -3/+2Thats in the wrong place for a boob job scar. More than likely a love scar from her pimp.
- rockrapdude, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Yes and with the vibrant colors from the LTV beta that I just got shipped, I can see the silicon underneath too.
- kickass911, on 01/08/2008, -4/+0pretty asome wonder what the respnse time is

- NotOptium, on 01/08/2008, -1/+5Is any other specific information necessary? pkew pkew
- logicalnoise, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1same idea as dlp but the color is produced by pure laser which is more constant and lasts much longer. a red laser is more red than a very bright bulb projected through a color wheel.
- removesstains, on 01/08/2008, -0/+23Dugg for the boob scar.
- DiscoLando, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Dugg for love handles.
- Freetime000, on 01/08/2008, -2/+1Haha! bad boob job = bad booth job
- UglyShirts, on 01/08/2008, -1/+3First I heard that Laser TV's were going to surpass LCD and Plasma in terms of cost and color quality, and would be available by Q4 '07. Then I heard that the promise of Laser TV's was overhyped by the Australian company that's going broke trying to push the impractical technology involved, and they weren't ever really going to work. Now one actually shows up.
I DUNNO WHO TO TRUST ANYMORE.- Chompy, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Laser TVs, not "Laser TV's".

- Princeamor, on 01/08/2008, -8/+1It looks better than HD TV!!!
- j1ggy, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4I'd expect that model to cost more than traditional models for quite some time.
- calon9, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2The one in red or black?

- mlvassallo, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Looks like the Gizmondo photog enjoyed the show...
- Princeamor, on 01/08/2008, -3/+1The 3D features it has it the future! This beats the hell out of HD TV automatically!
- slaver, on 01/08/2008, -3/+3You could see boobjob evidence on this photo, gross:
http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/lasertv/1000437449 - AtHomeBoy2000, on 01/08/2008, -0/+8OK, quick question. Does VIVID = more color full than real life? Personally, i'd rather see "truer" colors than over saturated images.
- onlyclave, on 01/08/2008, -2/+3In the hierarchy of video image quality:
1. Contrast ratio
2. Color saturation
3. Color fidelity
4. Resolution
This is how the human eye sees light. Having primary red, green and blue points that are the most accurate on the CIE 1931 color chart equals more accurate reproductions rather than rendering of color. Lasers are pure, coherent light and they will not shift over time like a projector bulb will, they can be turned off when that primary color is not needed at all, their color is absolute and not determined by a spinning color wheel. there is no rainbow effect and (just like Texas Instruments is showing right now at their DLP booth with a "brandless" Samsung prototype) can be refreshed at 240Hz.
This is a huge advance in video. Kudos to Mits. - Filipp0, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2To me Vivid = quality porn.
- onlyclave, on 01/08/2008, -2/+3In the hierarchy of video image quality:
- gigamugged, on 01/08/2008, -2/+1Mitsubishi and quality... there's a first. Wait, given the number of half-naked women at their launch event, I'm guessing the quality is all in their marketing, not in their crummy products (and yes, I speak from experience in this case). To cap it off the company is more of an ethics wasteland than most. Caveat emptor.
- sremick, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Depends on the product I suppose. Mitsubishi is known for making very nice projectors. I have one here several years old that still rocks. The HC1500 is a current model that is very good and very popular.
- imbob, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2its freaking laser beems!
- jlebrech, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Yeah I once saw one of those Laser!! TV's and it really left a permanent impression in my retinas.
- glimp7, on 01/08/2008, -1/+3The "TV's Colors Look Even Juicier Than the Girls on the Set?" Which would you choose, a one night stand with one of those girls on the stage, or a free one night rental of that HDTV? That might be a difficult decision for some.
- SillyDigger, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1VD or HDTV.... hmmm.
- Trav3133, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1im stunned
- pcpimpster, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Anyone notice the ad on the page showing two cheerleaders spread eagled for the cam?
It leads to an art site...

- Narcowski, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1No, what's an ad?
- musntSurfatWork, on 01/08/2008, -1/+0Hope this technology doesn't suffer from "Burn-in", cause Laser really really hurts when that happens.
k propellor-heads, prove me wrong. - manergy, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0Thats cool. A bunch of 50 year old women dancing for a bunch of 50 year old men. Man I wonder how much those chicks ran them an hour? 1 glass of Metamucil an hour? 2 glasses at the most.
- AgentX640, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1haha the dancers. WOOF.
- PerfectTommy, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Wow, images so vivid, you can even see the breast implant scars on the models...
- urik88, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Screw the TV, give me the blond dancer.
- shade45, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Can I watch the TV and have the blond dancer at the same time?
- bs0l, on 01/08/2008, -1/+3TASER?! Oh, laser.

http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/lasertv/1000437449 - solid12345, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Those are some pretty trampy women, they must have left the strip to find those girls...
- tryangles, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2I remember on reading about this innovation on DIGG a year ago. There was a claim that these TV's would take a fraction of the cost to produce in comparison to Plasma's and be sold at least 50% of the what other flat panels go for. Now they are claiming that they will be selling at the same price point? Gotta love capitalism and what the market will bear...
- Typhoon2009, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1They're so expensive but so beautiful. At the risk of getting Dugg down for "internets lingo"... DO WANT.
