- msaleem, on 01/06/2009, -1/+24With the way AT&T's 3G network performs, I wonder if this will even be a useful service when it does arrive.
- g33b33, on 01/06/2009, -3/+25Oh my God.
Product is NOT available article.
Buried. - dvddesign, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7Why would anyone want Slingbox when you can have the same functionality for free with ORB? It streams live through your iphone using ORBLive
All you need on top of ORB is a TV tuner if you want to watch live television, but considering that it goes above and beyond Slingboxes capabilities by playing other types of media, I felt it outclassed Slingbox at a lower price point.. I can view my PDF's from home, JPG's, MP3's, and just about every video file on my computer's local storage.
And now that there's some limited mac support for the ORB software, I think Slingbox runs the risk of falling to the wayside. - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -5/+10***** submission title ever.
You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. - boxxa, on 01/06/2009, -2/+6It will most likley require wifi similar to Joost's app
- michaelphw, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4o2 in Britain too.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4No, it wont.
Even at EDGE speeds the picture and sound are just fine. Slingplayer already exists and works for Windows Mobile phones and a few Symbain ones. - Shakermaker, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5Yeah, you're a real badass.
- phike, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Slingbox is one of the greatest inventions of this decade. Why pay for NFL Sunday ticket or MLB.TV when you are not in the market when you can just have a slingbox in your home city and watch games anywhere? I've used this for the past 2 years in college and catching the Phillies and Eagles games I couldn't have seen in Boston without it has been awesome. Not to mention if you really want to be cheap you dont even have to pay for cable and just use slingplayer to use your parents' cable.
This more than any other app would make me want to get an iPhone. - cawpin, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5It doesn't require Wifi on Verizon's network on Windows Mobile. It works perfectly fine and looks good.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Even the EDGE network is more than enough to get a decent picture for a phone sized screen.
I use Slingplayer all the time on my Tilt, and it works just fine when I can only get an EDGE connection. - robotfriendly, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3orb is an amazing piece of free software.
- BigCalhoun, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3I don't know how fast AT&Ts data speeds compare to VzW but I can say it is possible to get a decent picture using cellular data service. I had the same concerns when I initially tried it. Assuming it would work like the WinMo version, once it optimizes (about 5 seconds), you get a fairly clear and stable picture and sound.
Now, streaming HD programming, on the other hand, is a completely different matter. - darkcthulhu, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Orb streams pretty good over 3G for me, I imagine Sling will as well.
- blapierre, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2What cell phone has a screen with a resolution that can play HD video?
- efontana, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I've been using ORB for a week, so far, works great with HDTV tuner card and OTA antenna, but I REALLY WANT the slingbox.
- AnthonyC, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I hate my Mogul. Windows Mobile is slow, buggy, and behind the times. Its embarrassing for an OS that is on its 6th version and has been around for pretty much the entire decade. I can't however, leave it because I love my Slingbox so much.
As soon as the iPhone or Android gets Slingbox, I'm switching. Thats all that is holding me back. - MacEnvy, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3This comment, like your username, has been marked as inaccurate and stupid.
- nsdjoe, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Oh my god hahaha. Move to England so you can use your iPhone w/o AT&T!
- beachtrader, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Does orb allow me to view my Tivo? Slingbox does.
- anon4031, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1on the bandwidth issue, the "unlimited iphone data plan" allows 5GB data transfer per month. But god forbid they let anyone get near 1GB...
The oversubscribe the hell out of their lines to keep costs low. thats why they don't let you tether for free, download more than 10MB on the itunes store, or use high bandwidth apps. You think the prices would be cheaper. - colto, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1The highest res that I know of on a phone in the US is the Touch Pro by HTC which can do full VGA.
- dvddesign, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Well, now that I do have this ORB software on my phone, I plan on taxing their bandwidth limits for my account. I hadn't heard about a 5GB data cap, but I'm gonna be pissed if I hit one.
- TheNico, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1"but it's on its way"
Just like the linux slingplayer client has been "coming soon" for about 4 years? - BigCalhoun, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1No phone that I'm aware of, but you could also use the SlingPlayer desktop version to sling to a laptop via WiFi or 3G.
- nsdjoe, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Please be here in time for Spring Training...

Except Mrstrider he da man mofo lol - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Because Slingbox is very, very good at what it does. Its like having my Tivo on my cell phone.
I dont want to have to download every show I want to watch to my computer. I also dont use windows, so thats another problem.
The money I spent on my Slingbox is some of the best money I have ever spent. The video quality it can shove into even an EDGE connection is damn impressive. - BrianSaysHi, on 01/06/2009, -3/+3Watching Tv on AT&Ts 3G network is going to be great!
/s - diecastbeatdown, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1wish we had o2 here. =/
- MWeather, on 01/06/2009, -2/+2iPhones, like all cell phones can be legally unlocked and used on multiple carriers. There is nothing inaccurate about it.
That said palin2012 is still a douche. - rjett, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0Who wants to watch TV on a cell phone? I just don't get it.

- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -17/+4Newsflash girlfriend, AT&T is just one tiny company offering iPhone. There are almost a hundred others out there to choose from, so why not get one of them instead of complaining so much?
