- RADRaze2KX, on 12/04/2008, -1/+26I was expecting a list... 2 photos at the top and 3 more with an explanation is HARDLY a list. I'm very disappointed.
- loobis, on 12/04/2008, -0/+16They make you work to find it. Here it is (PDF).

- babydick, on 12/04/2008, -2/+11The joystick thing isn't such a bad idea...
- bigdoglj52, on 12/04/2008, -0/+8a mouse with THREE wheels
- CoreyTamas, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6I remember my ex-wife telling me that, while in Germany visiting a family member who was renovating her house, she saw a window designed so that it could be opened eight different ways... and was scratching her head trying to figure out why you need a window that can open eight different ways.
It seems a lot of the same design philosophies went into these mice. Kudos to Logitech for not releasing them. :) - amitait, on 12/04/2008, -5/+12Here is a Prototype from Apple.

A mouse with one button!
Wait...what...? - asgardshill, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Logitech should manufacture a "You Porn" or "World of Warcraft Fanboi" model that dispenses hand lotion and Kleenex on demand. Failing that, just give us one of the old-school Star Wars X-Wing video game yokes.
- rft3rd, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5I love the Mouse Glove, Its so bad!
- Drexxle, on 12/04/2008, -1/+6An article about mice and very little mice to be had. Dissapointing attempt at an article.
- lamiaconfitor, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5as far as precession controls for sniping in fps's, maybe some photoshop functions? Not a bad idea at all. Anything else? Yes.
- eminn3m, on 12/04/2008, -2/+7Now if only they could make the glove mouse from minority report (no MX air doesn't cut it).
- elliotm01, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3I wish my G9 had a POV hat switch on the left side instead of the standard two forward/back buttons! I mean, the scroll wheel rocks let and right so...
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3those new metal scroll wheels are great.
- baldguy633, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3I hate that mouse companies develop right handed mice like they do and only leave monstrosities like the "hockey puck" for us left handed people.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4yes it is. Don't mention Google Earth either.
- Novalight, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4You want Minority Report gloves? Here ya go:
"While stringing a shirt with tiny lights is one potential use for the thread, a more likely use is for clothes that detect airborne allergens or human blood, or for gloves that can manipulate touch screens."

from 'Smart' Fabric Glows in Response to Allergens" posted right behind this one on Digg. - IamSunstorm, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3The actual document: http://logitech-louk.navisite.net/web/ftp/pub/oneb ...
- wice, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4not to mention unnatural. /s
- caulkrocket, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Thank God another hockey puck mouse never made it to the market.
- leif77, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3WOOSH!!
- jmcneilly, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I still use my Logitech Trackman with the trackball the size of a small orange.
It's been the best pointing device I've owned for the past dozen years. For whatever reasons, Logitech stopped making this model. It's really sad too since I'm a CAD designer and many of the people I know in the field love them. If they would make these again and add a scroll wheel, I'd be in heaven. Instead, they make a trackball version with a tiny little ball for the thumb. The thumb... The least accurate of all the digits. (Well, the pinky isn't great either)
I was just thinking yesterday about taking all the guts from one of their newer models and hacking together one of the palm-sized balls for the ultimate trackball. Maybe I can get a job in their prototype lab so I can sneak out some of the really good models. - crunchyeyeball, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Has anyone else noticed that the bottom photo has a ghostly Nikon camera accidently grafted onto the side of it? At least I hope it was an accident, otherwise that would truly be the worst mouse design ever...
- frazw, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Bugs me too. I'd recommend getting a razer copperhead (if you are willing to spend a bit) or similar cause it has buttons in the thumb position on both sides and you can program them and it is 2000dpi for gaming (changeable on the fly) but sadly not cordless. It's quite comfortable too but I always fancied a left handed moulded one but as we only make up 10% of the population I guess they don't think it's worth it.
Tell you something though, if a company did come out with one (and did it well) I bet they would sell pretty well cause lots of lefties I know say they'd buy one. - abenage, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I still just want a bluetooth trackball.
A petition can be found at http://www.petitiononline.com/logbttrk/ if you feel the same way, but I don't think Logitech cares.
The only other option that I can find is "The Ball" (http://www.amazon.com/The-Ball-Bluetooth-Wireless- ... and it just doesn't look comfortable at all. - selfprodigy, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1What i wanna know is what settings are you adjust with the "dial." If it's mouse speed how often does that really change?
- ttam, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1did these people really miss the whole hockey puck mouse failure on the mac 10 years ago?
- Shivan57, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2On a scale from 1 to 10 in crazy, these designs barely make a 1. Compared to other 'crazy' designs, these are pitiful. Its more like someone was going to lose their job unless they had some idea to make a mouse different...
"Quick Johnson! Or otherwise you're fired!"
"Um--light up our logo so everyone knows we made the mouse, even at night!"
"Brilliant. They know they're buying our product by the packaging but what if its late one night and they're working late on something and forgot what brand of mouse they bought... too hard to turn on the light, the switch is five feet away... they can just look down and see its glowing prowess!" - TriSight, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I haven't been too happy with the mouse selection out there. I have an MX5000 that I'm quite happy with, but it's time to replace it. Unfortunately, I can't find anything on par with it that also comes with a recharge base like it did.
- loobis, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2like this?
http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/mice/logitech- ... - 2Bnor2B, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Need more mouse buttons!
A small strip of 5 to 10 programmable mouse buttons on the sides or top would be advantageous to both gamers and designers.
Other ideas which Logitech should try..
A mouse with an incorporated thermoelectric effect cooling (Peltier cooler) for those intense gaming sessions?
A gaming mouse with vibration feedback. - kazoomaloo, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Man, I feel like a dope for providing free advertising, but Logitech is just a great company, man, I buy all my peripherals from them - mice, keyboards, cameras, headsets. They're quick to resolve issues and have come through remarkably for me in warranty/return situations. Thumbs up.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2this is crap.
- Schmich, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Only digging you up so that people can see loobis link, otherwise I would have burried you for not checking out the link given in the article and then, on top of that, complaining.
- Meocross, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2im left handed yet use my right hand instead, its just faster.. aldo a dual mouse setting would be pretty neat..
- r00fus, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Like the Apple Mighty Mouse = trackball as "scroll wheel"
- rushiku, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1It's not so much that you need to change the speed often, it's more that when you need to do it, you need to have a way to do so.
eg: I have a Razer Copperhead, which I can change the speed of (and other things) on-the-fly. This means I can increase and decrease accuracy as the situation dictates (think run-n-gun vs sniping)
...probably not something a non-gamer would use. - MacParrot, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I hated that mouse. Replaced it on any machine (thankfully only two, one iMac G3 for my kids, and on my recommendation one of my nephews machines) I could. Actually I can't think of any Apple mouse beyond the one that came with my Mac Plus oh so many years ago that I didn't replace almost as soon as I got it.
I like Macs, but Apple can't seem to design a mouse I would use willingly - Archaic1, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Oh god, it's turning into the the shaving razor wars. 3 Blades... no, 4! 5!!
- NeoMatrixJR, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2This technology is already available, but no/few applications/os's are set up to use it.
- selfprodigy, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1That makes sense. I haven't really kept up with new computer games since diablo 2 so im way out of the loop. I mostly stick to console games these days.
- DiggyGrant, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1"we designed a mouse with an illuminated logo, but who really needs that?" Me please!
- static07, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2Oh yeah that would start a whole new level of RSI complaints...
- Meocross, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1a glove mouse that is sensitive to air would be freaking awesome and then to turn the glove mouse off you press a button on your wrist... oh snap then how would you do 360 rotation in online games? /facepalm
- Meocross, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Why does the last mouse look like a gun revolver ?.. O.o
- MagicHobo, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I would like for my mouse to dispense beer. Why haven't they invented that one yet? Seems more logical than some of these concepts.
- Godlike, on 12/04/2008, -2/+1SNIPING.
- eminn3m, on 12/04/2008, -2/+1On the contrary I think hand gestures would be much more natural than cupping a mouse, pushing it places, and moving an index finger up and down.
- FearlessFreep, on 12/04/2008, -2/+1That's not a 'prototype' that's a Mighty Mouse. The single button on the top does 2-D scrolling , the top surface is push-able on the left and right side for two separate button functions and the sides are squeezable for another function (usually 'expose'). A Lot going on in 'a mouse with one button'
Although the area below for "Images Like This One" is an interesting selection.... -
