- Puppytwo, on 11/23/2009, -0/+59I can't see anything ever possibly going wrong with this.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/23/2009, -2/+30I call that a str8 way to heaven...
- freshyill, on 11/23/2009, -0/+26No, doing things other than driving while driving is a bad idea. If you use a computer while driving, I hope you win a Darwin award, and please try not to take any innocent civilians with you. But there's nothing inherently bad about this to begin with. It's only bad if you're already really stupid.
- Krinkov, on 11/24/2009, -0/+23the comments and pics on Amazon are priceless.
http://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Office-WM-01-Laptop-S ... - victordark, on 11/23/2009, -1/+24Now we just need a mount for our mobile phones on the pedals, so we can text with our toes at the same time. Maybe on the accelerator, that would work wouldn't it?
- tryshalosh, on 11/23/2009, -4/+22I am surprised these are not illegal YET
- sbcea, on 11/23/2009, -1/+17"...apparently people are going mad for it." Love that line
But not as much as, "the greatest thing ever invented” - inactive, on 11/24/2009, -1/+17Excellent! Now I can Tweet even more useless real-time information.
"Just signaled a right turn. Booyah, bitches!"
"Just got passed by a Ferarri. FML."
"Cop pulling me over. Time to close the YouPorn window, LOL!" - inactive, on 11/23/2009, -1/+15Oh great.....
- ChronicColonic, on 11/24/2009, -0/+12Of course it's a bad idea. Look at how little room there is to set your hot coffee down.
- smashblu, on 11/24/2009, -3/+14As a motorcycle rider, this scares the ***** out of me.
- woofers07, on 11/24/2009, -0/+10I can, like what happens if you hit a dead spot while surfing porn?
- jrm125, on 11/24/2009, -0/+10One more reason to never leave your bed.
- stephhicks68, on 11/23/2009, -0/+9I am waiting for the automatic mascara applicator feature to be added to the laptop steering wheel desk....
- lewlew20, on 11/24/2009, -0/+9Those comments are amazingly good. They could make an SNL skit just from those comments!
- enantiodromia, on 11/24/2009, -0/+8i use my laptop while parked in my car all the time. free wifi, she's everywhere.
- Akairenn, on 11/24/2009, -0/+8I could see it handy. I could also see it being abused by countless goddamned tools. Like the jackass in a van I was following tonight - one of those vans with a built-in DVD player. Douchey McDoucherson was going well below the speed limit and alternating constantly between swerving deep into the shoulder/deep into the passing lane.
*twitch* - gadgetlust, on 11/24/2009, -0/+8Not likely to have much of a problem with people using these while driving as it probably will not remain horizontal while the steering wheel turns.
- MooseOfReason, on 11/24/2009, -0/+8No, they couldn't make an SNL skit out of that. Those reviews are funny.
- bigdoglj52, on 11/24/2009, -0/+7but what if they crash through your wall?
- happyMensch, on 11/24/2009, -0/+7I agree. This product can really only be used on a stopped car (unless YOU can turn your car without turning your wheel or unless you're brain dead).
Using a laptop while sitting in a parked car shouldn't mean you have to change seats. Thank you laptop steering wheel desk. You're the best thing ever invented! :-) - shanealeslie, on 11/24/2009, -0/+7Same thing in Canada. Anyone that mounts a TV or computer monitor for driver distraction deserves whatever crash they have, hopefully before they breed.
- ChromaVita, on 11/24/2009, -0/+6Don't use a Macbook Air. You'll get cut in half.
- shniper, on 11/24/2009, -4/+10As someone who works out of their truck, I think this thing will come in very handy.
If you're going to say it's a bad idea, then you may as well say that shoelaces are bad idea since someone could crash while trying to tie them. - drewchapman, on 11/24/2009, -0/+6I haven't laughed so hard at an Amazon item... ever. The reviews are hilarious and the pics made me lol extremely intensely.
- enantiodromia, on 11/24/2009, -5/+11maybe you should stop splitting lanes at 40mph
- CaptOblivious, on 11/24/2009, -0/+5Indeed,
Lets not penalize everyone because SOME people might be stupid enough to think that it's ok to use this while driving.
It'd be great for entering the billing report data before starting the car and leaving for the next client.
Found and ordered. - shanealeslie, on 11/24/2009, -0/+4Huh? Could you elaborate on that please; there is an apparent lack of context that makes your musing hard to follow.
- pHr34kY, on 11/24/2009, -0/+4FTA: "...you are of course also hands free, and technically would be able to watch the latest news streams, keep an eye on your social networking site updates, check the odd email, and continue driving at the same time."
Not sure about USA, but this breaks several Australian road rules. For example, there cannot be a screen visible to the driver with the exception of a navigation aid or a gauge for the vehicle. Such devices must also be attached to the vehicle, and not simply resting on something. - Vodd9, on 11/24/2009, -0/+4Come on, have some imagination, Digg.
This is the perfect convenience for people with a low budget for Internet connectivity. - devans00, on 11/24/2009, -1/+5With some nice plastic letters stuck in your gut as accessories.
- smemily, on 11/24/2009, -0/+4If you are gonna drive while using your laptop on one of these, please do it with webcam ON and post the feed here!
- ripple123, on 11/24/2009, -0/+4in the incredibly likely event that you have a accident while this thing is on the wheel, the airbag will probably propel it right into your face, most probably breaking said face.
- pgiessel, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3Only if you use it while driving. I work in the field a lot, and when I'm stopped at a jobsite, before I leave, I fill out my reports. This would be nice. Then put it away, and drive away.
- inactive, on 11/24/2009, -1/+4The sad thing is that the drivers who are texting, making calls, reading books, etc, are going to kill other people. If they were only taking themselves out of the gene pool I would have no problem with it. But it just doesn't work out that way.
- BrBybee, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3I fully support this product. What a great way to rid the planet of retards.
- mattyboy555, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3I call that str8 way into incoming traffic.
- stoneage7, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3As a motorcycle rider, you scare the ***** out of most drivers.
- CanadaMan87, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3It's a pretty cool product, actually. It seems to hold the laptop at a nice level for use. Plus, to everyone who says "OMFG, stupid people will drive with this thing on their wheel and kill us all!" please stfu. The device itself would hit your legs while attempting to steer, the laptop would cover most of the wheel, and even if you did manage to get a handle on the wheel and turn it effectively, you'd knock over your laptop at every turn.
- marciot, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3Insurance claim form:
PLEASE DESCRIBE THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH, USING DIAGRAMS WHERE APPROPRIATE:
1) I was surfing porn on my drive to work (see diagram of porn) using my 3G connection
2) I took a sharp right onto the freeway onramp, causing my expensive laptop (see diagram of Apple logo) to begin sliding off the tray
3) I swerved into oncoming traffic as I frantically reached over to catch the laptop mid fall (see diagram of Apple falling under the influence of Newton's gravitational force). - inactive, on 11/24/2009, -0/+3iCrash
- CaptOblivious, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2Akairenn
Time to (pull over if needed and) make a call to the coppers with his vehicle make, model and license plate.
You could add the movie title for effect if you wished.
That's a call an Officer would LOVE to take. - Dolphin666, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2Macbook Wheel is PERFECT for this.
- thebreach, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2Since they encourage reckless driving they actually probably are under that principle, like having a pet not in a cage and that kind of thing.
- inactive, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2Where do you put your make up, cup of tea and sandwich, though?
- kplo, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2bad idea jeans, for sure...
- PopcornDave, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2I don't know why people would be in love with it. Hell I can't use a laptop on an airplane in coach because there isn't enough room. The last time I tried I had to tilt the thing at about a 30 degree angle just to type on it.
At 6'4 I can barely fit in most cars as it is even with the seat all the way back so why would I cramp myself even further?
Maybe for all the people under 5'6 this is fantastic... - RadiatedAnt, on 11/24/2009, -1/+3myspace is that you?
- ohreilly, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2Why do I get the impression that the act of driving in the US is secondary to anything else that you have going on in the car.
I say this because over here, we don't have automatic gearboxes (well, we do, but almost everyone learns to drive a manual and auto boxes are an expensive optional extra that reduces resale appeal), and we don't get any of this sort of product over here. Sat-navs seem to be it. Maybe that's because our laws are probably stricter. - shanealeslie, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2As an e-biker, it scares the colon out of me.
