- mtwolf, on 05/10/2008, -12/+8most useful mobile computing gadget....Blackberry 8800
- jggube, on 05/10/2008, -7/+8I like the iPhone.
- rasmasyean, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0That's not mobile "computing" :P
- troye, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1agreed
- jggube, on 05/10/2008, -7/+8I like the iPhone.
- yumlum, on 05/10/2008, -10/+3what do u think about bluthtooth ?
- MykeXX, on 05/10/2008, -2/+1bluetooth is nice.
- roomforpanic, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5Unless it's perpetually hanging off your ear, then it's just annoying.
- CanoeBuilder, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2illusions, michael.
- jackminardi, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2tricks are what whores do for money
- louiebaur, on 05/10/2008, -2/+29The USB Port Blocker is kinda cool
- doctechnical, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5And given Microsoft's COFEE USB sniffer this seems like a nice way to keep people out of your stuff.
- rasmasyean, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0There's no software that can prevent USB usage without like a password or something?
- zreboletti, on 05/10/2008, -2/+5I don't travel much with my laptop, yet I kinda want all of these!
- srafx, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Do NOT buy the wifi finder. It can only find wireless if its sitting on the router! It blows!
- supernova17, on 05/10/2008, -1/+9The RFID disk sounds really cool.
- sfacets, on 05/10/2008, -3/+7Useful? Not really.
- solarwind24, on 05/10/2008, -0/+16LapStrap - sounded like something totally different.
- sjbdallas, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I assumed it was the next step if the lapband didn't work.
- ODSTKuk, on 05/10/2008, -1/+16If someone really wanted to use the usb ports on your computer and you have a port blocker, couldn't that person just get the applicator for the usb port blocker and use it to remove the plug
- KeepSwinging, on 05/10/2008, -3/+5LapStrap would be amazing for anyone into digital music, a more modern version of the keytar
- TheCash, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3Only much, much less cool looking.
- sjbdallas, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3You mean those guys on stage behind a few laptops mixing and scratching or whatever it is they do, would now wander around the stage?
- holyskeleton, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4the watch drive is nice. i bet some people can make a bluetooth watch phone with storage which would really sell.
- zen53, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2I tried to get one developed! With a manufacturing Company in China..4GB Movie payer, bootable linux (via usb) & bluetooth for synching with phones etc...talks broke down when they said they couldn't make the battery life last longer than 2-3hrs & the bluetooth would interfere with the video playback! I'm sure it wont be long until apple unveil the iwatch!
- atarijedi, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2I don't see how bluetooth would interfere with videoplayback, either way, a watch that plays movies? Seems kinda stupid to me, simply because that screen would be way too small. Although a bluetooth storage watch would be awesome, even if it did only do 10mbit max.
- zen53, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I agree the video is more of a gimmick! They said you would have to disable the bluetooth on playback. I didn't understand this myself as many phones handle this. Bluetooth would be great - best application of it would be mp3 streaming with bluetooth headphones...

- D14BL0, on 05/10/2008, -0/+25Lapstrap? Yeah, I want my $1,000+ piece of technology dangling around for anything to bash into it without any sort of protection.
The rest of the list is all equally useless.- b4ckst4bb, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1My favorite is the $50 crappy watch/1gbUSBdrive. Inconvenient, to have to take off your watch every time you want to access your files, and leaving it on occupies my hands, preventing me from doing other things.
- PabloIV, on 05/10/2008, -3/+1The only thing I found particularly useful was the laptop strap, and maybe the solar charger. Everything else is kinda too specific to really be considered super useful.
- ehaugan, on 05/10/2008, -2/+3Title should read : "10 Gadgets you will never use unless you are some geeky, ultra-paranoid web developer who somehow thinks he needs to protect the html files he is going to publish to a public website anyways.
- mellowcool, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3My Nokia N95 8GB does everything I need it to do plus more!
- joshzweig, on 05/10/2008, -0/+13Did the LapStrap really just make that list?
- s0m31john, on 05/10/2008, -2/+9Don't waste your money on Encrypted USB flash drives, buy a regular one and encrypt it with Truecrypt.
- fatlip, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2the only advantage ironkey has over truecrypt is that it self destructs
but unless you're working for some top level .gov, i wouldn't worry much about it.

- CLShortFuse, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Something I always carry with me is a D-Link Pocket Wireless Router/Access Point

I've had it for a few years now. There might be something better now. Basically, I plug it into a network cable and it becomes a wireless bridge, WAP, or wireless router with DHCP. Thing is small too. I'm sure there are better ones now but I still like being able to plug into one of the ethernet jacks in an office and being able to work with my laptop via wi-fi.
My laptop has an integrated Wi-Fi scanner (Dell XPS M1210) which works on standby. My cell phone (AT&T Tilt) can be a 1.5mbit wireless router too (HSDPA) and technically a Wi-Fi scanner, but you don't need to steal Wi-Fi when you have 3.5G. - martynda, on 05/10/2008, -1/+5A port blocker? Are you THAT out of it that you don't notice someone plugging in a USB hard drive, telling you move over for a second while he copies your data? Next time you get up from your PC, hit Windows+L. Magic!
- rdubya44, on 05/10/2008, -1/+7USB Portblocker...because they can't unplug your mouse, keyboard, printer, or other peripherals and just insert there malware there.
- tcpip4lyfe, on 05/10/2008, -4/+2Obama had sex with hilary. HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM DRUNK APPLES?!
- Gonasadude, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Well it appears your mom had sex with a monkey.
- tibbon, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4I'm getting really tired of these advertiseme... I mean articles that do nothing but basically sell.... i mean mention suggestively lists of items/software that are "must have" for groups. Stop digging these ads up! We dislike ads right?
- fatlip, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1well it worked, because i just bought the wireless version of that samsung mouse.
- TheCash, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Besides the LapStrap (which would go farther towards making you look like an absolute tool then making you more productive), the most worthless gadget here is the portblocker. If you have to buy one of these because you are afraid someone will steal your porn collection or upload malware "if you must leave your computer unattended for a brief period of time," you've obviously never had your ***** stolen while you were in the crapper for 5 minutes. The top item on this list should be a Kingston lock and cable, plain and simple.
- xkorbin, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1USB port blocker? I prefer the application that fills any USB HD or Mass Storage Device attached to my computer that is not my own with Goatse, 2G1C GIF animations, Tubgirl, Meatspin, and a few other culminations of our internet's finest.
That keeps people from stealing my datas. - BradleysLife, on 05/10/2008, -2/+0Lapstrap seems like a good idea... But i wouldn't want a laptop of mine getting smashed into walls...
- rasmasyean, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Well...this is software (accompanying hardware), but I think "WMWiFiRouter" has some good potential. It turns a Windows Mobile phone into a mobile hotspot.
- MattBD, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Single most useful mobile computing gadget? Asus Eee PC.
- Gonasadude, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I figured this would be like, ultra small computers, or something neat like that. Instead, I find a list of a bunch of useless USB devices.
- jenniferxu, on 05/12/2008, -0/+0lapstrap seems good - although I don't know of anyone who's that careless with their computer anyway.
- aidwiz, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1the solar charger is a must have for heavy travellers, outdoor i mean :D
- bryan107, 23 hr 26 min ago, -0/+0Cool!! Gadget World : http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=REucDXcF53Y
