- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -5/+26Great game! Big ben looked healthy for the first time in weeks. Lets go beat the ravens now!
- smacksaw, on 01/12/2009, -9/+25Well, a totally unheralded afterthought of a small runningback had a huge game today. And no, it wasn't Darren Sproles, it was Willie Parker.
Charger fan, it's time for you to come correct. We listened to your delusional blabbering for a week now. Your disrespected us for a week. Now it's your turn to listen.
Darren Sproles is a nice guy and a nice story. He is also about as fast as 8 of the 11 Steelers on defense. He is too small to block and is not good at picking up the blitz. He was so deficient today that TE Brandon Manumaleuna had to go in at RB and block.
Philip Rivers and his great passing stats. Yup, Rivers had SOME better numbers today. And today is the typical example. We had a running game. We didn't need to pass. Anyone can pass when they're down by 2-3 scores. Defenses give that to you. It does not make you a prolific passer. And in Rivers' case, it doesn't make him a winner. That is why Rivers had big numbers this year. Yet Ben rolls on, 5-1 in the playoffs including a Super Bowl win. You can have your extra 5 points of QB rating. I'll take a chance to face the Ravens.
Wow, you're 2-0 in Pittsburgh in the playoffs and Norv Turner is 12-1 in December/January. So what. Now you're 2-1 and he's 12-2. Because here's the record that really matters: 8-8. You're looking at the wrong stat. You have an 8-8 team that played like one and that's why you were totally outclassed.
If you want to be delusional and dismissive of the Steelers, keep in mind that you can't step to us. Open wide, the humble pie you baked is now being served. Don't choke on it like you choked today. - Cole2026, on 01/12/2009, -7/+19Finally an end to the ***** talk about how great Darren Sproles is. The Chargers got smoked.
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -3/+14I thought the team was the Chargers not Charges
- eacnc, on 01/12/2009, -3/+13Here we go...
- ether3a1, on 01/12/2009, -1/+8Steelers/Eagles Super Bowl.
Battle of Pennsylvania!
GO STEELERS! - wupike, on 01/12/2009, -1/+6Not only did we have a healthy Parker and Roethlisberger... but for once the O-line gave Ben enough time to actually pass the ball.
- Tw3ek, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4Has LT ever been healthy in the playoffs? I wouldn't get any hopes up for him playing in a playoff game.
- Hockey37, on 01/12/2009, -2/+6Time to break out the "Ray Lewis is a bitch" shirt one last time for the season.
- smacksaw, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4Well, like they say, "Third time's a charm"...whether that means they need three tries to finally beat us or on our third try we put them away for good, I don't know. But I have much respect for the Ravens. Ray Lewis is my favourite player. It pains me to go against him 2x a year. It's even worse because he wanted so badly for the Steelers to draft him and the Ravens scooped him out from under us.
But I digress. You will not find a bigger cheerleader for Joe Flacco here on Digg. I love the way the Ravens play because...well, it reminds me of the Steelers. They have so many awesome players, class guys, great coaches, EXCELLENT fans...if they beat us, I can truly say the better team won. I won't be bitter. We're evenly matched. If it's their day next Sunday, so be it. We always bring our A game for the Ravens and I expect the best from them as well.
If they beat us, I'll be over it quickly. I expect to win, but I am prepared to lose. - mkriss5681, on 01/12/2009, -1/+5Regardless of who wins... Ravens at Steelers has the making of a classic AFC championship game. It will decide who has the best defense in the NFL.
- then00b, on 01/12/2009, -3/+7HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!
- smacksaw, on 01/12/2009, -3/+6It would be Great Justice for Ken Whisenhunt getting screwed out of the head coaching job in Pittsburgh, but in case you forgot, Warner is not good against the kind of pressure both the Ravens and the Steelers bring.
There's not a lot of difference between the Cards and Chargers. Both have a good passing offense, not much going in the run game, no pass blocking and a defense that can't bring pressure.
I do hope they make the Super Bowl, but there's no need to be delusional. You're rivaling Charger and Seahawk fan for football IQ retardation. What you should say is "I would love to see the Cardinals have a chance to play the Steelers and maybe play the role of giant slayer."
Fixed that for you. - fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -1/+4In that division, you won't even need that to make it back to the playoffs...
- ether3a1, on 01/12/2009, -0/+3Steelers... Here we go...
PITTSBURGH'S GOIN' TO THE SUPERBOWL. - cadmiumpaint, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2LT is never healthy when it matters and he's a big reason why the Chargers never go to the next level. When one of your main offensive weapons sits on the bench year after year during the playoffs, you just can't be succssful.
Next year if/when he's healthy, you might be smart to not play him till week 10....cause he's way too fragile to play a full season in the NFL. - amishjim, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Thank God, for once he looked healthy. .
- amishjim, on 01/12/2009, -3/+5The Steelers don't play Baseball, silly. .
- stopsucking, on 01/12/2009, -8/+10I am going to love seeing the Cardinals beat the Steelers.
- jhbarr, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Yeah, but it's sunny and 80 degrees in San Diego today.
- rupprupp29, on 01/13/2009, -0/+2Heath Miller continues to be the most underrated player on this Steeler team.
And can anyone on this earth explain to me how James Harrison doesn't draw 5 holding penalties a game? - cadmiumpaint, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2that game is going to be amazing. Heavyweight fight.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2He's been sacked like that all his career, and it hasn't stopped him yet...Check the stats, bub.
- Dainjah, on 01/12/2009, -2/+4They should press charges after that beating they took in the third quarter. 1 Play, 2 Turnovers, 17 sec possession.
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -4/+5smacksaw you have alot of passion for the Steelers and I like it. It's a shame I won't be there to see you cry when they lose to the ravens next week.
- cadmiumpaint, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2Great game. The Steelers put on a great show. That 3rd quarter was amazing. Once again the Chargers show they're nothing but a team full of stats who don't have what it takes to get it done in the playoffs.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1Dude, the Cardinals aren't even going to beat the Eagles.
- trawinski69, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2someone let their spellcheck fix and didn't pay attention. that's what happened.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1How's that?
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1Well I couldn't disagree with you more...
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -2/+3It would be shocking if the Cardinals beat the Eagles, let alone make it to the Superbowl...
- MasterQ, on 01/18/2009, -0/+1I bet you will... until you wake up.
- Zacktopia, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1Save us, Joe Flacco. You're our only hope.
- ninjasandshiz, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1living in Pittsburgh during a good Steelers season = hell.
- dbrees, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2So they smoked the Charges, but how did they do against the Chargers?
- DoThaDew, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2LMAO you're making fun of Rivers? Have you SEEN Roethlisberger this season? He gets sacked more than Jenna Jameson's forehead..
- mmiracle, on 01/13/2009, -0/+1Bye bye P Rivers
- jhbarr, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1It's sad his body is breaking down now considering how much he carried the team during the Ryan Leaf and after era. He averaged ~25 carries a game for almost ten years. Of course his body is starting to break down.
- lynx44, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1No, I really didn't think the Chargers deserved to have won by the way they were playing. The Steelers definitely did outplay them, but I think they may have had a chance if those two things wouldn't have happened.
But you are right that I hate the Steelers...and I am a Seahawks fan, haha. - mmiracle, on 01/13/2009, -1/+1"Not that I think the Chargers deserved to win"
Yes you do. And that's ok. Don't sugar coat your hatred for the Steelers like a Seahawk fan. - amishjim, on 01/12/2009, -12/+12STEELERS NATION FTW!
- lynx44, on 01/12/2009, -2/+2Not that I think the Chargers deserved to win, but the Steelers got a couple of lucky breaks. Sproles ran that 60 yard return, then Steelers got a lucky tip that they happened to recover. I can't take it away from them, they did play good defense, but it was pretty lucky. Then, on the punt they happened to hit that Charger player in the head and recovered around the 30. If those two things didn't happen, it could have ended differently, but again the Steelers did play better D and their running game was insane. And no, I'm not a Chargers fan and I don't live anywhere near San Diego.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -1/+1They freebased the Chargers.
- cuoops, on 01/12/2009, -2/+2It's in there twice. I thought they ran up some outrageous charges somewhere.
- hokieburgh, on 01/12/2009, -1/+1Healthy Willie + Sharp Ben + Devestating Defense + Rookie QB = Stillers Victory
- omgwhataguy, on 01/12/2009, -2/+1The Arizona Cardinals are going to DESTROY them in the Super Bowl. Kurt Warner and the greatest show on turf will WALK ALL OVER them.
- bodaciousllama, on 01/12/2009, -2/+1***** Roethlisberger the quarterback was all hug it, chug it, FOOTBALL! ALL NIGHT!
- Bravesguy18, on 01/12/2009, -2/+1More like which has the worse offense... snooze.
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -5/+4Philip Rivers and his great passing stats.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -4/+2My fiancee is an Eagles fan, and I'm a Steelers fan...so if we get the most likely PA Superbowl here, it's going to be a loooooooong game. If the Steelers beat the Eagles, I'll be in the doghouse no matter how I act about it...
